Prime 2.0 configuration management

Does PI 2.0 archive configs daily or do I need to schedule it?
How can I see config changes if someone changes the config on a  device? Will PI alert that a change was made and what was changed by whom?

Yianni Thallas wrote:I don't believe that's possible with switches, maybe with ASA'sI could of swore one of the webinars i watched on PI mentioned that we would be able to see config changes
I don't see it used very often, but you can escalate syslog messages in IOS using Embedded Syslog Manager (ESM). See the configuration guide example here.
I recall getting the same impression as you. The webinar series that Eric and Tomar did on PI 2.0 was done with pre-release PI 2.0 software. It could be that feature didn't make the cut for FCS release of 2.0. Another thing to watch for in 2.1.

    Issue 1: I'm having a strange issue with the default XXX00002 package - "Configuration Manager Client Package",
    it will not deploy to the Secondary Site DP. The console is saying "In Progress" - below is the output from the

    Issue 2: I'm trying to deploy a couple of Packages/Applications using SCCM 2012 R2 running on Win2K8 R2 with no luck, knowing that I could install the packages
    on a test VM “in the DataCenter site”, but when trying to deploy the packages to production PC “in the Office Site”,
     the status is packages deployment compliance stuck at 0%
    Infrastructure:
    3 SCCM servers: CAS, PRI & SEC. Both CAS and PRI are in the DataCenter site, and SEC is in the Office site. The office site has several IP subnets.
    Boundaries are configured through Forest Discovery “IP Ranges and AD Sites” since that the AD site should contain all the IP subnets that the AD site contains, Boundaries groups are also configured and a site reference
    server is configured for each group respectively.
    A OU based Collection has been configured that contains 13 PC "the collection contains the PCs that the packages should be installed.
    Packages/Applications are configured correctly since that I could successfully deploy the packages to the test VM which is on the same subnet as the CAS and the PRI servers "the DataCenter subnet". The issue
    is that I can't deploy the packages to production PCs in the Office subnet!
    Firewall rules are configured and applied via GP, and I even turned Windows Firewall off, and still nothing! I tried to manually initiate Computer Policy download via the SCCM GUI and via a script, still no luck!
    I tried configuring IP Subnet Boundaries, still no luck!!

    I fixed the issue with the default XXX00002 package - "Configuration Manager Client Package", it will not deploy to the Secondary Site DP. I did that through "Update Distribution Points" option, and after a while the status was 100%.

  • When converting over to HTTPS and PKI for clients, not all actions are available in configuration manager cpl

    I'm not exactly sure which forum heading this should go under so if this isn't correct please let me know or move it on my behalf.
    So I am trying to setup Internet Based Client Management in SCCM 2012 R2 and have come across a few articles on how to do so.   I think I have mostly gotten it to work but I seem to be having a client issue when deploying new machines.  My already
    deployed servers seem to have picked up the PKI setting no problem.  In the past when I would deploy a new windows client everything would be fine.  When i converted over to PKI in my test environment I am now having issues when I go to deploy a
    new windows client. I don't get all of the Actions listed in the Configuration Manager control panel.  All I have are Discovery Data Collection, Machine Policy Retrieval and Eval, User Policy Retrieval and Eval, and Windows Installer Source list Update
    Cycles, before all of them would populate no problem.  I have let this machine sit here for several hours and nothing has changed yet.  It does say PKI for client certificate.  Sometimes when I would deploy new machines it would say NONE for
    Client certificate.  In my production environment it says self-signed.  I have found if i uninstall the client and re-install the client it does populate all of the cycles but I don't understand why it is not working on deployment.
    Ok so maybe not all the time that when i reinstall the client it fixes it.  I just did an uninstall and reinstall on a test client and all it has under actions are machine and user policy cycles.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hi,
    I think SCCM client installed before the GPO applied, so you don't a certificate available when it is required.
    You can export and import the certificate by using MDT integration, try this blog for PKI part:
    How To: Build and Capture in Configuration Manager 2012 using HTTPS
    And in addition, you can upload the log to your onedrive so you can share with us.

  • Unable to copy hidden package "Configuration Manager Client Package" to local DP

    Content status lists it as successfully distributed to all DPs (including the local site server)
    However, component status for SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER continually logs these events:
    Distribution Manager failed to process package "Configuration Manager Client Package" (package ID = CDW00001).
    Possible cause: Distribution manager does not have access to either the package source directory or the distribution point.
    Solution: Verify that distribution manager can access the package source directory/distribution point.
    Possible cause: The package source directory contains files with long file names and the total length of the path exceeds the maximum length supported by the operating system.
    Solution: Reduce the number of folders defined for the package, shorten the filename, or consider bundling the files using a compression utility.
    Possible cause: There is not enough disk space available on the site server computer or the distribution point.
    Solution: Verify that there is enough free disk space available on the site server computer and on the distribution point.
    Possible cause: The package source directory contains files that might be in use by an active process.
    Solution: Close any processes that maybe using files in the source directory. If this failure persists, create an alternate copy of the source directory and update the package source to point to it.
    NOTE: It appears to not be any of these causes.

    Nothing special with certificates; I've used the basic stuff for intranet management of clients.
    The only related thing I can think of that may have affected this, is that I discovered earlier today that my MP installation got hosed (error 500) due to a broken client install on the site server itself. I uninstalled the client manually and the server
    (as indicated by the component status views) appears to have repaired the MP install. Perhaps it didn't repair it completely? Would a site reset do me any good?

  • Is there a way to configure managed properties on a superclass?

    Hi,
    I'm looking for a way to set a managed property on a superclass of a managed bean rather than setting it on every single managed bean extending that superclass.
    Here's a simple scenario. I've got an application scoped managed bean called "configuration" which holds (what a surprise) some configuration. It is configured like this:
         <managed-bean>
              <managed-bean-name>configuration</managed-bean-name>
              <managed-bean-class>myapp.model.ConfigurationModel</managed-bean-class>
              <managed-bean-scope>application</managed-bean-scope>
         </managed-bean>
    Now I want to use this bean from within some other request scoped managed beans (Let's say bean1 .. beanN). Of course I could inject the configuration bean into every single bean like this:
         <managed-bean>
              <managed-bean-name>bean1</managed-bean-name>
              <managed-bean-class>myapp.model.Bean1</managed-bean-class>
              <managed-bean-scope>request</managed-bean-scope>
              <managed-property>
                   <property-name>configuration</property-name>
                   <property-class>myapp.model.Configuration</property-class>
                   <value>#{configuration}</value>
              </managed-property>
         </managed-bean>
         <managed-bean>
              <managed-bean-name>beanN</managed-bean-name>
              <managed-bean-class>myapp.model.BeanN</managed-bean-class>
              <managed-bean-scope>request</managed-bean-scope>
              <managed-property>
                   <property-name>configuration</property-name>
                   <property-class>myapp.model.Configuration</property-class>
                   <value>#{configuration}</value>
              </managed-property>
         </managed-bean>
    The Java code of each bean would look like this:
         public class Bean1 {
              protected Configuration configuration;
              public void setConfiguration(Configuration aConfiguration) {
                   configuration = aConfiguration;
         public class BeanN {
              protected Configuration configuration;
              public void setConfiguration(Configuration aConfiguration) {
                   configuration = aConfiguration;
    One enhancement of this approach obviously is to define a super class for the beans which holds the configuration variable and its setter to prevent duplicate code. This would look like this:
         public class SuperBean {
              protected Configuration configuration;
              public void setConfiguration(Configuration aConfiguration) {
                   configuration = aConfiguration;
         public class Bean1 extends SuperBean {}
         public class BeanN extends SuperBean {}
    And now for the real problem. I'd like to use the advantage of using a superclass in the Java code on the faces configuration aswell. That means, I'd like to define the dependency injection only once for all beans extending SuperBean and not for every single bean. Probably like this:
         <managed-bean>
              <managed-bean-class>myapp.model.SuperBean</managed-bean-class>
              <managed-property>
                   <property-name>configuration</property-name>
                   <property-class>myapp.model.Configuration</property-class>
                   <value>#{configuration}</value>
              </managed-property>
         </managed-bean>
         <managed-bean>
              <managed-bean-name>bean1</managed-bean-name>
              <managed-bean-class>myapp.model.Bean1</managed-bean-class>
              <managed-bean-scope>request</managed-bean-scope>
         </managed-bean>
         <managed-bean>
              <managed-bean-name>beanN</managed-bean-name>
              <managed-bean-class>myapp.model.BeanN</managed-bean-class>
              <managed-bean-scope>request</managed-bean-scope>
         </managed-bean>
    Of course this doesn't work because JSF does not lookup superclasses automatically. But I would be grateful if anyone has a solution or an idea for achieving this, because it would notably simplify the faces configuration.
    These are the directions my own investigations took me so far:
    - Using an "extends" attribute: <managed-bean extends="superbean">
    This would be nice, but it would mean to use my own JSF implementation. I often use "extends" attributes on XML configurations, because it brings the pattern of inheritance with all its advantages to XML.
    - Right now I'm checking if a custom PropertyResolver could do the trick.
    Looking forward to your suggestions.
    Regards
    Frank

    There is no way in the default JSF implementation.
    You may consider to replace the getter by the outcome of FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getApplicationMap().get("configuration"); This will return the application scoped managed bean instance with the managed bean name "configuration".

  • HOW TO CONFIGURE MANAGER or APPROVER USER IN ACCESS REQUEST MANAGEMENT TO APPROVE OR REJECT REQUEST

    hi sap gurus,
    i configured grc 10 system successfully. I created one user: GR_AR_APP001 and assign following roles:
    SAP_GRAC_ACCESS_APPROVER
    SAP_GRAC_ACCESS_REQUEST_ADMIN
    SAP_GRC_FN_BASE
    SAP_GRC_FN_NUSINESS_USER
    and I maintained GR_AR_APP001 in access control owners as "POINT OF CONTACT", "SECURITY LEAD" and "WORKFLOW ADMINISTRATOR"
    but when i am creating access request for new user and defining MANAGER under user details tab as GR_AR_APP001.
    the user GR_AR_APP001 is not receiving any request for APPROVE or REJECT in his WORK INBOX.
    can u please guide me how to configure APPROVER or MANAGER to approve or reject request.
    I will be very much thankful if you guide me successfully.

    Hi Colleen,
    thanks a lot for your time.
    PIC1: I created one user: GR_AR_APP001
    and assigned all the GRC ROLES.
    PIC2: I assigned owner type to GR_AR_APP001 user : POINT OF CONTACT, SECURITY LEAD and WORKFLOW ADMINISTRATOR in NWBC ACCESS CONTROL OWNERS
    PIC3: I created one EUP 980 (copied from default EUP)
    PIC4: I maintained default manager as GR_AR_APP001 user in 980 EUP
    PIC5: I selected SAP_GRAC_ACCESS_REQUEST process id
    PIC6: I created one agent id as ZGRAC_MANAGER11 in which I added approver user id: GR_AR_APP001
    PIC7: I saved agent id
    PIC8: I added agent id as ZGRAC_MANAGER11 in stage5 in manager stage.
    PIC9: I saved
    PIC10: I maintained EUP 980 (in which I configured manager as GR_AR_APP001 user) in stage 5 task settings
    PIC11: Maintain Route Mapping, I clicked on next
    PIC12 and PIC13: I saved and activated.
    After this process I created one request for new account and selected the manager as GR_AR_APP001 and one request is created with request no 9000000030.
    now I logged into system by user GR_AR_APP001 and checked, there is no request under his work inbox.
    please guide me at least one procedure, how to receive request in approver work inbox so that I can learn other procedures to configure approver as per our organization requirement.
    thanks for your support Colleen.

  • How to configure Oracle Configuration Manager in R12.0.4

    Dear
    I need to configure oracle configuration manager for my running R12.0.4 instance on single node setup.Whenever i try update my metalink credentials in oracle application manager dashboard,it says userid or password is wrong. While installation i skip the OCM screen. How can i configure it now either using Universal installer or comand line? Need all steps for setup?
    Do i need to download & install OCM client or is it already shipped with software & needs just configuration setup?
    Help me!
    Regards

    Ateeq,
    Running AutoConfig should populate profile options with the correct values. However, you can check the values after running AutoConfig to verify it.
    According to metalink document id, this Applications Server-Side Proxy Host And Domain profile needs to changed. Document id, will mention later.I forgot.Below are the notes:

    When we are starting , it stays for couple of mins say 10/15 mins then it stops.
    Can any body have any idea what should i do to get it resolved.

    The logs look odd to say the least on start up and there are couple items when the service gets the signal to shutdown that are suspicious.
    My suggestion is to troubleshoot top down. Clean up the discrepant messages upon startup.
    message : INFO
    Please verify that the file is readable by the current user
    and that the file has not been corrupted in any way.
    One common cause of this problem is running a 32-bit version
    of the Wrapper with a 64-bit version of Java, or vica versa.
    This is a 64-bit JVM.
    Are you attempting change the existing out of box JVM?
    You know it doesn't use sun jvm anymore. It's JROCKIT.
    Make sure your JVM Settings are as follows:
    C:\bea\alui\configmgr\2.0\settings\config\wrapper_base.conf
    # Java Application
    wrapper.java.command=%JRE_PATH%/bin/java
    THEN Verify:
    CMD
    cd C:\bea\alui\common\jre\1.5.0_32\
    java -versionYou should get something like.
    java version "1.5.0_12"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_12-b04)
    BEA JRockit(R) (build R27.4.0-90-89592-1.5.0_12-20070928-1715-windows-ia32, comp
    iled mode)
    In any case, your enviroment seems funky. Use the tips above to troubleshoot.
    Troubleshoot this error first and find out why it thinks your using a 64 bit JVM versus a 32 bit one.
    Last tip: Place Logging into Debug to see whether more logging will give you further insight into the problem.
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers!!!

  • Can't create Source Instance in Configuration manager (BI Apps 11.1.1.7.1)

    Hi
    While configuration i created one source instance for EBS R12.1.3 but I logged into to ODI client Studio and By mistake i deleted 'Data Server' from Topology which i created during Source Instance Creation/configuration on Configuration Manager(CM).
    It wasn't intentionally by mistake i deleted. Due to that reason i am not able to edit source instance. once i try to edit when i save it error pop-ups ""Error: ODI-10182: uncategorized exception during repository access. ORA-00001: unique constrain (DEV_BIA_ODIREPO.AK_CONNECT) violated" .
    Its was bug but after ODI 11.1.1.6.0 they fix it

    I rise SR with oracle and they offered below solution,  i hope it will help someone.
    How to delete a source system?
    The Configuration Manager user interface does not include a way to delete a source system. In the Define Business Intelligence Applications page you can only add or edit a source system.
    By manually removing the source system from Oracle Data Integrator and from the tables in the back-end database you can effectively delete a source system.
    To manually delete the source system:
    1. Connect to the application database through a utility such as SQL*Plus or SQL Developer, logged in as the same user configured in the WebLogic data source.
    2. Find the source system identifier number of the source system you want to delete by executing the following SQL and looking at the value of column DATASOURCE_NUM_ID:
    SELECT DATASOURCE_NAME, DATASOURCE_NUM_ID FROM C_DATA_SOURCE;
    3. Go to ODI Studio and delete the physical schema associated with the source system.
    4. In ODI Studio go to the respective logical schema:
    2.1. Go to flexfield tab
    2.2. Mark the checkbox for Data source num id flexfield to use default value.
    5. In SQL*Plus or SQL Developer execute the following statements where the bind variable, :Bind_DatasourceNumId, is set to the value of the source system identifier. These SQL statements may also be placed in a script, if needed for later use.
    DELETE FROM C_DATA_SERVER WHERE DATASOURCE_NUM_ID = :Bind_DatasourceNumId;
    DELETE FROM C_DATA_SOURCE_DISABLEDOFFR_REL WHERE DATASOURCE_NUM_ID = :Bind_DatasourceNumId;
    DELETE FROM C_EXECUTION_PLAN_FACTGROUP_REL WHERE DATASOURCE_NUM_ID = :Bind_DatasourceNumId;
    DELETE FROM C_LOAD_PLAN_GENERATION_STEP WHERE EXECUTION_PLAN_ID IN (SELECT EXECUTION_PLAN_ID FROM C_EXECUTION_PLAN WHERE EXECUTION_PLAN_ID NOT IN (SELECT EXECUTION_PLAN_ID FROM C_EXECUTION_PLAN_FACTGROUP_REL));
    DELETE FROM C_EXECUTION_PLAN WHERE EXECUTION_PLAN_ID NOT IN (SELECT EXECUTION_PLAN_ID FROM C_EXECUTION_PLAN_FACTGROUP_REL);
    DELETE FROM C_SRC_DOMAIN_MEMBER_TL WHERE DATASOURCE_NUM_ID = :Bind_DatasourceNumId;
    DELETE FROM C_SRC_DOMAIN_MEMBER WHERE DATASOURCE_NUM_ID = :Bind_DatasourceNumId;
    DELETE FROM C_DOMAIN_MEMBER_MAP WHERE DATASOURCE_NUM_ID = :Bind_DatasourceNumId;
    DELETE FROM C_PARAM_DW_VAL WHERE DATASOURCE_NUM_ID = :Bind_DatasourceNumId;
    DELETE FROM C_PARAM_DW_VAL_AUDIT WHERE DATASOURCE_NUM_ID = :Bind_DatasourceNumId;
    DELETE FROM C_DATA_SOURCE WHERE DATASOURCE_NUM_ID = :Bind_DatasourceNumId;

    You need to have an infrastructure as a pre-requisite for a portal type OAS installation.
    Please see this [link and the whole guide - click Content on the top-right|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/win.1012/install.1012/install/mt.htm#sthref508] for details and then decide what have you installed that you are referring to as OAS 10g.

  • Why when I try to Build === Configuration Manager === Active solution platform === New does not open up a platform configuration window???

    I have read that in order to process my .xlsx file using Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 Connection String I need to create a "x86" Active Solution Platform.
    Welllll, when I <Right-Click> on my Solution in Microsoft Visual Studio, and <Click> on
    Configuration Manager and then <Click> the Active solution platform
    and choose <New...> absolutely nothing happens. How can I try and create a new
    Active solution platform if nothing happens and I don't get a dialog box or window?
    Am I doing something wrong here?
    Do I have a Setting that is incorrect?
    Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.
    ITBobbyP85

    Hi ITBobbyP85,
    After testing the issue in my SSIS project, I also couldn’t add a new Active solution platform in the SSIS project.
    As per my understanding, I think the Active solution platform doesn’t supported in Business Intelligence projects (SSAS, SSRS and SSIS). If the project is application project(C#, VB, etc.), by default, the target platform is x86. And we can also configure
    the project to target to a 64-bit platform. For more details about how to configure projects to target platforms, please see:

  • [Forum FAQ] Configuration Manager Console shows nothing if you change SSRS to using SSL after Reporting Service Point is installed

    If the SSRS is changed to SSL mode and http binding is removed after Reporting Service Point is installed. The Configuration Manager Console shows nothing in Reporting Pane. After digging into this problem, the cause is that the SSRS information has not
    been updated in Configuration Manager Database. The following steps are taken for finding the root cause.
    1. After changing to SSL, the Reporting Service Point log shows the error as shown in Figure 1.
    The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.
    (!) SRS not detected as running
    Failures reported during periodic health check by the SRS Server DB2.SCJIZHO.COM.
    Figure 1
    From the error, seems the cause was the Reporting Service Point detected a wrong port. We digged around in Registry and found the information is a Registry key named ReportServerUri at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\SRSRP. After changing the Report
    Server address to https. The error is gone as shown in Figure 2. But the issue remains, the Console still shows nothing. It is not a right direction.
    Figure 2
    2. Open the Console log file, it also shows some valuable information.
    instance of __ExtendedStatus
                    Operation = "ExecQuery";
                    ParameterInfo = "SELECT * FROM SMS_Site WHERE SiteCode = 'PRI'";

    Figure 3
    It seems the Console wants to access the old http site and it fails to get into the site for sure. Actually, the Site Configuration information is come from Site Control File and as we all know that ConfigMgr 2012 doesn’t store the Site Control file in the
    file system. However, it’s stored in the SQL database (as XML file). The XML file is stored in a view named vSMS_SC_SiteControlXML. This view is a read-only view. We cannot edit it directly. The related table stored the SSRS information for this view is SC_SysResUse_Property.
    Running the following query will list the SSRS address. We can see the address is still the old one. This is why the Console shows nothing.
    SELECT
    name,
    value2
    FROM dbo.SC_SysResUse_Property
    where name
    ='ReportServerUri'
    or name=
    'ReportManagerUri'
    Remarks:
    This article is just to let you know why the Console cannot show the Reports after changing to SSL mode. We do not intend to make you change the table in Database, if you want to change it, you will be at your own risk. The real solution to this situation
    is to reinstall your Reporting Service Point.
    Please click to vote if the post helps you. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

    Ok, but how do you solve this problem? Does uninstalling the RP and adding it back solve this problem?

    1. Switched reporting services to run from local system account to domain account.
    2. Created new Report Server database on our instance and reconfigured Reporting Services to this DB.
    3. Un-installed and re-installed Reporting Services role in Configuration Manager
    4. Un-installed and re-installed SSRS on Configuration Manager (dedicated) SQL instance after removing Reporting Services role in CM12.
    I have referred couple of links on forum and none seem to help resolve this issue.
    Let me know if there is anything specific I missed out from my end. Appreciate any assistance.

    It seems that Reporting Services for SCOM and SCCM cannot co-exist on the same server (it sounds like a bad idea anyway)
