Prime 2.0 Lifecycle - Site Filters

Hi,
anyone had problems with using the Site Filters in the Cisco Prime 2.0? When we try to use the Filter for a Site the dropdown only show us the Unassigned and All options.

I don't think that they are the same, in my case I had all the devices distributed in the site maps, and only few devices in the site groups. Also per the documentation wha I understand is that site groups and site maps are not the same thing.
Note
The devices added to a site group in Device Work Center do not add devices in the Design > Site Map Design page. Similarly, the devices added in the Site Map Design page are not added to site groups in Device Work Center.

Content Filtering for new tablets

We did this last year with our tablets. We went with iboss filtering which I highly recommend but it looks like you have web filtering in place so you would need to proxy the internet traffic. Contact the tech support of your web filtering and explain them what you need to do and they will tell you what needs to be done on your end. Then you would have to create configuration profile and push (you need MDM here) the proxy configurations to your tablets.

I work for a local high school and they just bought tablets for all of the kids to use during the school year. They are wanting content filtering while they are at school, which we have, but they are also wanting "off site" filtering as well. What/How is the easiest way to set that up? We currently have a Cisco Meraki firewall setup for the high school.

AirPort Extreme : site blocking / Log features?

Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of buying the new time capsule and I have a couple of questions. (this is going to be my first Airport Extreme Base Station)
Although my current Netgear Router has the features, I didn't see the features that I need get mentioned on Apple website or anywhere else. Google search didn't help.
The two most important features that I need,
1) site filtering (website/keyword blocking) and
2) traffic logging (which website is accessed from which computer [MAC or IP]).
I'm managing a home network of 5 computers. (2 Macs + 3 Windows )
If the features aren't available on AirPort, what other options do I have?
(I do not want to go on to every computer to enable Parental Control or install blocking softwares)
besides, I want time based MAC blocking and site blocking. (eg. to block Myspace during homework hours or to blocking certain computer during study period )

I currently have a similar situation. I am now using my FVS114 as my DHCP/router/gateway/etc. and use my Airport Extreme as an access point. You can set the Airport to "Bridged Mode" and it just becomes a device on the network. I then have my FVS114 and AE log to a local machine. Kind of cool, but the FVS114 still needs to be reset more frequently than I wish.

Issue in deploying Service Bus projects using maven

Firefox (latest and greatest) has been giving me synaptics scroll wheel errors. It has worked fine up until 3 days ago. I have the latest driver for the touch-pad, from synaptics, for my toshiba laptop L505D-S5986. Operating system is Windows 7 (32-Bit).

The last add-on i installed for Firefox was "Fox Filter" so my kids couldn't accidentally stumble onto sites of immoral tastes. I can't see why that would have any effect, but it was the last update/add-on i installed to the browser, but even then,.......it was working fine for a week and a half afterwards until now. Please help.

You may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
If you detect a faulty add-on, you should contact its author for support. You can also search for alternatives. Site filters are relatively common in the add-ons gallery: [http://addons.mozilla.org addons.mozilla.org].

Parental Controls bug in Mountain Lion 10.8.2

For years I've used Parental Controls, not to restrict my daughter's web content, but to limit her time on the computer. But tonight I upgraded Mountain Lion from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2 and something broke.
Suddenly every secure web page she tries to access (to include google, gmail, amazon, etc.) fails. It says "Parental controls restricts access to secure websites".
A little hunting around turned up the following Apple Knowledge Base article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2900 that says "https note: For websites that use SSL encryption (the URL will usually begin with https), the Internet content filter is unable to examine the encrypted content of the page. For this reason, encrypted websites must be explicitly allowed using the Always Allow list. Encrypted websites that are not on the Always Allow list will be blocked by the automatic Internet content filter."
I understand that logic however that should NOT apply to me since I'm not trying to automatically restrict her adult web content or create allowed/blocked site lists, etc. She has *unrestricted* web site access, so the Internet content filter shouldn't even be in play here.
Just to get this up and running, I did type the Admin account and password in at the prompt to let her gain access to the web pages. However that did not work. Even though it said it would now allow access - it did not.
I also tried going into Parental Controls, turning ON web site filtering, going into Custom, and adding in approved secure web sites (google, etc.) Even *that* did not work.
Everything was great until 10.8.2 came along but now her account is for all intents and purposes unusable.

Same problem here. Apple seems to be neglecting the parental controls. First, they broke X11: http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/ticket/439. 10.8.1 didn't address that problem. Not only does 10.8.2 not address the X11 bug, it actually breaks secure web browsing!
Just to add a little more information, secure browsing on Safari seems to work OK for me once authorized. However, neither Firefox nor Chrome work with any secure site even after they have been authorized. Unfortunately, my daughter's school site is secure and it doesn't work on Safari so her Mac is useless for school now.
Looks like I'll have to restore using Time Machine and not update again until I know this has been addressed.
Apple, I'm not impressed.

I’m trying to assess the browser situation with respect to Microsoft.
I need to provide input to my management about the browsers to be supported in future.

Asserting OpenDNS on Verizon Quantum Gateway G1100 ?

Just received and setup the latest Verzion wireless router, walking through all the options, turning off uPNP, etc.
However, I see no way to assert alternatIve DNS service, e.g. OpenDNS with this router and the manual only privides Prrimary/Secondary DNS settings for default disabled IPv6.
Does anyone know how specific IPv4 DNS Primary/Secondary IPs for the router (and therefore Clients) can be asserted- specifically for OpenDNS?

I have OpenDNS configured on the Quantum Gateway. It's easy.
Log in to the router.
Click "My Network."
On the left side click "Network Connections."
Click on "Broadband Connection"
Click the "Settings" button at the bottom of the screen.
Enter the OpenDNS server's in the primary and secondary DNS server boxes.
Click Apply.
Enjoy faster DNS lookups and/or web site filtering.

Auto new views in SharePoint Online

Hello!
I would like to set up SPO to automatically create a new view, each time I add a new item to a certain list.
Specifically, I would like to have a list of projects and whenever I create a new project (item in that list) a new view should automatically be available, that would list files in the Documents folder of that site, filtered to show only ones related to
that new project.
I know how to filter out files but auto generation of views is something I can't grasp ATM.
Any ideas? I've been looking around for anything of the similar nature, and would be very glad for a hint of something that would even guide me to the right path!

No... I don't know the auto new view option (or how to enable that)
However, I've maybe a functional alternative:
Use a column (called Project for example) from the tipe: choose from a list
(in that other list you maintain your project lists)
You create a view on the document library with a group by on the project column
and if you add a new project and you upload a file and during the upload you choose for the column project the new project name, it will show as a collapse/expand option in that view.

Supported versions of JDBC driver?

Does anyone know what JDBC drivers are considered supported and which ones are considered EOL?
With the release of 4.0 is 3.0 now considered EOL? How about 2.0?
I tried looking at the
Microsoft Product Lifecycle site, but it doesn't have anything for JDBC.

Installing CU1 - Management Point Critical

I have an issue which I have verified on a clean install, when I install the CU1 update on the Primary Server the Management Point changes to critical status, and under Total Bytes it changes to 0 bytes.
I have a CAS and a Single Primary server. Any ideas why this happens, from what I can see the Management Point appears to be functional, but the status is just stuck in critical.

Nothing as far as I can tell, which is why I am stumped. I have just tested this on another installation and it does the exact same thing!!!!!!

Multiple Standby Dataguard Configuration

Hi,
Sorry if this has been posted before, but I could not find the answer.
I have a Primary site (PRIM) and one Standby site(STBY1). The standby receives archive log changes from the primary. Also using dataguard to manage the Standby.
I would like to create another standby (STBY2) and use the current standby (STBY1) to send changes to the other standby (STBY2).
I've read the section on Cascade Redo Log Destinations in Section D of the Dataguard doc, but it really doesnt show how this is configured.
I assume that my standby (STBY1) would need a the log_archive_dest_2 set to the service that points to the second standby (STBY2).
My question is.. Do I need to be using Maximum Availibilty and send redo logs vice archive logs? How do I configure dataguard? Is the second standby (STBY2) another site in the dataguard configuration?

I'm curious, is there a reason that you wouldn't want PRIM to supply the changes to both STBY1 and STBY2? In the configuration you're describing, if there was a failure on STBY1, you couldn't fail over from PRIM to STBY2...

Connect me: No connection to the internet detected...

I just added my connectme device to my LAN. As advertised the red light turns to a green flashing light. I can log into the device to begin the the setup. However, at step 1 of 6 I get the following message "No connection to the internet detected."
Now I know my Internet connection works, I know the device is reachable on the LAN (it has an IP address and I can ping it as well as start the configuration wizard.
I suspect that somehow my connect me box is having a problem with my router or with my DNS service (I use open DNS, which is configured on my Linksys.
Can anlyone tells me what test Connectme does when trying to verify Internet connectivity? If it is trying to reach a specific domain what is that domain? If it is blocked I can add it to my whitelist. I know it is not skype.com because Skype works on my system.

As I suspected, this seems to be a conflict with OpenDNS. The connectme device seems to phone home to a domain that is blocked by OpenDNS (its not skype.com). However there is no indication as to what this domain might be. This is a really bad installation routine as it gives the customer no idea as to what is going on and what to do to trouble shoot the problem. The online FAQ for this problem is also useless!!
Anyhow, took the unit to a friend's house (no OpenDNS) set it up in about 3 minutes and then brought it back home where it works fine. So problem solved even though still don't know which domain to whitelist for the installation routine.
My unit is at the 1.0.1 firmware. Waiting to see if/when it updates. Again no button to initiate the update manually.
I undertand that companies want to reduce complexity for their customers but this is the wrong way to do it!! Epic fail on installation. We will see how it actually works.
Btw, emailed tech support four or five days ago. No response - not even an autoresponder. I know its Christmas but from online posts the vendor support for this product is really poor.
Anyhow, if you ever get the "No connection to the internet detected" message during installation and you know that your internet is working AND you are using a web site filtering service like openDNS, try to get the filtering service out of the loop, install and then reanable the filter.
Hope this helps someone down the road.
