Prime Infrastructure 1.2 - Software Image Management
Good Day,
I have some issues with CPI 1.2. I've tried to Import Images from Cisco.com through Software Image Management
for test purposes by using my credentials. But it has finished success just a twice. Other attempt hadn't any result.
Then I try to choose Image for my test 3750E switch, sometimes I have error message like bellow:
After I choose another image and return to first that I need, and press <Submit>, I have a message that "Image collection job CCO Image Collection Job is Scheduled Successfully":
I wait some time and refresh, but I don't see any new Images. The same problem exist then I try Import Images from connected Devise. I use Shedule Start Time - Now.
Also, I can't view any information about Image in Device Work Center:
Any ideas, guys?
I'm having the same issue. I'm thinking there are still a lot of bugs in PI that Cisco needs to work out. LMS is still the better option for now in managing your switching environment. I know that Cisco hopes to role all device management under the umbrella of PI, but they still have some bugs to workout IMO.

LMS Software Image Management - Telnet failure
Hi all,
I had a problem with Software Image Management for the upgrade of a switch.
It seems that at the end of the upgrade, CiscoWorks was unable to save the configuration with telnet.
Yet, telnet seems to be ok because CiscoWorks manages to connect to the switch at the beginning of the upgrade.

Thank you in advance.Hello,
The job fails last night after timeout.
I have reschedule job this morning for 2 switchs :

Software Image Management in Prime LMS 4.2.3
In Software Repository Management I have added all the running images from our estate. The Status of each image is showing as "Not Available" even though I get the message "Image Status retrieved from Cisco.com successfully." when selecting Update Status. Should I see something more meaningful here?
Also when I run Patch Distribution I get "Failure" across the board - can anyone suggest a likely reason for this?Hi Dave,
If your Goal is to upgarde the IOS of the devices via LMS then MANUALLY download the IOS Image from cisco.com
and use the FILE SYSTEM option to add the Image in the Software Repository
Then try to upgrade the IOS and see how it works.

Prime Infrastructure 1.1 software
Hi Experts,
I am working in a project needs Cisco prime infrastructure and the sales department already bought v1.1 R-PI-1.1-100-K9, but I don't have the CD for software, how can I get the software for this version 1.1.
Thanks
Mohammad Saeed1.1 is very out of date - over 3 years old - and not even available on cisco.com anymore. Are you sure that is the version that was purchased? It has not been sold for several years.
The oldest 1.x release still available on cisco.com is 1.3.
If they bought support with upgrade entitlement, you are entitled to run the current software (2.2.1 is the current release). You would download and install 2.2 and patch it with 2.2.1 and latest device packs to get a current installation. -
Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 import image via WAN link failed.
Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 behind NAT that can copy image on device to Cisco Prime infra but can not deploy from Cisco Prime Infra import image from device. How to solve problem, please ?
Have you downloaded and applied the latest Device Pack updates?
PI enhanced ASA support after the initial 2.0 release and the Device Packs incorporate that change.
The README file for Device Packs explains how to install them. (A bug currently does not allow the direct download in PI so you need to follow the method for installation from local storage after you manually download. Here is a link to the download location. -
Prime Infrastructure 2.0 Software IOS deployment problems
When I try to deploy an IOS using the software deployment in Cisco PI 2.0 the jobs always fail. I have tried many different configurations and even switched flash cards but nothing works. The TFTP/SCP jobs always fail. Doing a "show flash:" I can see the image begin to copy, but it suddenly disappears and the job fails.
Any help would be very appreciated, this is very frustrating!!
Here is the failure message:
SWIM1125: Failed to copy the image to Flash due to the reason - copyUnknownFailure :failure unknown. Retry the operation. If the problem persists, check the Bug Toolkit application for any known issues on the running image version.Error loading image to flash.Image Copy Operation Failed
Thanks very much.I solved my issue by running looking at the debug output on the 2811 router I was pushing the IOS (.bin file) to. I noticed that the TFTP traffic would simply stop without warning and seemingly for no reason. I gave up on the TFTP and had to configure the router for SCP instead (aaa new-model, etc.). The image would successfully copy from the prime server to flash after that.
The failure output from prime was very unhelpful for both tftp and scp failures. It wasn't until I did some SCP configuration reading that I realized I had SCP configured wrong. Still no idea why the TFTP wouldn't work. -
Prime Infrastructure 2.0 Software Deployment VSS Systems
Good day -
Has anyone used the PI 2.0 Software Deployment with VSS systems like 6500 or 4500? Does it work? Does it upgrade the image in eFSU? Should VSS systems be manually updated?
Finally are there any guides or documentation on using PI 2.0 to deploy / upgrade images for platforms like 6500 / 4500 running VSS mode?
Thanks,
Johnthere is a Feature Enhancement BUG filed for VSS support

WCS and LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 Upgrade
Hello,
Our customer is currently having WCS for 500 devices and LMS 3.2 for 1500 devices. We are planning to upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3.
I want to check is the upgrade procedure that we have planned is ok or we have missed something.
Phase 1: WCS to CPI 1.3 upgrade
1. Check that WCS is at 7.0.230.0 version
2. Export WCS database
3. Install NCS 1.1.1.24 software
4. Contact cisco to obtain trial license for NCS software (L-WCS-NCS1-M-K9 license).
5. Migrate WCS license and import it in NCS software
6. Migrate WCS data to NCS software using ncs migrate command
7. Patch NCS software
8. Inline upgrade to CPI 1.3 software
9. Install proper licenses on CPI 1.3 (WCS and LMS device count)
My concern in this first phase is should I use NCS large image since our Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 software should manage 2000 devices at the end.
Or is it better not to perform inline upgrade and insted go with exporting data from NCS and then importing them to CPI 1.3 that is going to be installed separately?
Phase 2: LMS 3.2 to CPI upgrade
1. Export LMS 3.2 database
2. Install LMS 4.2 software
3. Install license to LMS 4.2
4. Restore data from LMS 3.2 to LMS 4.2
5. Direct upgrade from LMS 4.2 to 4.2.2
6. Export the device list with credentials from LMS 4.2.2 and import it as a Bulk Import in CPI 1.3
At the end we will have CPI 1.3 and LMS 4.2.2 software running.
Is it possible to directly upgrade from LMS 4.2 to LMS 4.2.4 and then import data to CPI 1.3 or we need to go with 4.2.2 version?
Regards,
JelenaHello Marvin,

Are this errors going to affect our LMS 4.2 operations?
Then we have upgraded to LMS 4.2.2 and exported data and credentiales for PI import.
On PI 1.3 we have installed WCS 500 devices upgrade license and LMS 1500 upgrade license and now we are having 2000 devices lifecycle license. We have successfully restored WCS data in PI and we have imported LMS devices as bulk import. What is strange is that we have this message in prime regarding licensing:
On LMS 3.2 our customer had saved unlimited number of configuration versioning. After upgrading to LMS 4.2 we can only see last 3 configurations regardless of unlimided number of configurations in previous LMS, so my question is where can we find older configurations in LMS 4.2?
We are planning to turn unlimited versioning on CPI 1.3 now, so our customer will again have feature that they need. Do you have some experiance regarding disk space when all device configurations are stored forever?
Thank you for your help.

Upgrade Cisco Prime LMS 4.0 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1
My company has asked me to migrate Prime LMS 4.0 to Prime Infrastructure 2.0 for a client and can not find the guide, the questions are? the migration is possible without an intermediate step? and There is a guide to update LMS 4.0 to PI 2.0 ??
Thanks in advance.Prime LMS 4.2.2 added support for the PI template directly:
Export Data for Prime Infrastructure
Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution supports data migration to Prime Infrastructure 1.2. This feature enables user to export the Device Credentials Repository (DCR) data from LMS 4.2.x versions to Prime Infrastructure 1.2. The data backup status and backup location are displayed at the bottom of the Export Data for Prime Infrastructure page. The data being exported from LMS and the data imported back to PI are listed as follows.
Data exported from LMS
•Device Credentials Repository (DCR)
•Software Image Management
•Config Archive
•Change Audit

[email protected]SOme of the similar discussion happened here, which would be helpful.
To answer your questions :
A.> Yes all three of them are separate software.
LMS :--> Ciscoworks Prime LMS is about to be end-of-life software which will phase out in favour of its successor Cisco Prime Infrastructure. This Software was the key application from Cisco to help manage the entire Wired Infrastructure for cisco devices, like Routers, switches, VPN, FW's, etc.
NCS:--> Wireless Control System (WCS) was the LMS equivalent software to manage Cisco's wireless infrastructure. It evolved as a new Generation Network Control System (NCS).
Cisco Prime Infrastructure :--> Cisco felt market demand to have a unified experience to manage both Wired and Wireless Infrastructure, hence Cisco Prime Infrastructure was introduced which is NCS+LMS. Not all features of LMS are migrated, hence customer's are allowed to use LMS latest version 4.2.x for wired network devices, if required.
B.> Prime is now provided with an inbaked Linux kernel to remove dependency from Windows or Unix (Solaris) OS, hence it is only available as OVA deployment image to be used under virtualized environment and can take benefit of virtualized infrastructure.

Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 and ASA 55xx platform
Hello,
We recently upgraded to Prime Infrastructure 2.0 with the hope being able to manage our ASA's from PRIME (and complete an LMS migration).
When I attempt to add ASA's to prime i get the following collection errors:
Unable to collect processor and RAM information. Processor and RAM information. Unexpected error. See the log file inventory.log for details.
In the logfile I get the following XML parsing error on the MIB:
<palError>
<deviceId>6284310032</deviceId>
<code>VALIDATION_ERROR</code>
<message>Failed to validate output XML: cvc-maxInclusive-valid: Value '3484331296' is not facet-valid with respect to maxInclusive '2147483647' for type 'int'.</message>
<result>
<result xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="/CISCO-MEMORY-POOL-MIB/xmp-im-file-system-module.xsd">
<xmp-im-file-system-module>
<MemoryPoolStatistics>
<memoryPoolIndex>1</memoryPoolIndex>
<free>4294967295</free>
<largestFree>4294967295</largestFree>
<used>3484331296</used>
</MemoryPoolStatistics>
To me it seems that the ASA returns a value that is bigger then int32 and thus causes an overflow? Any clues? Workarounds to add an ASA to Prime without checking these MIB'S?
Regards,
MarcelThe X series (all with 64-bit SMP images) are not currently supported by PI 2.0. We can hope for a device update in the coming months to remedy that situation.
If you click on the arrow next to the help icon in the top right of your PI and choose "Device Level Support" you will see:
