Prime Infrastructure 1.3 AP Groups missing
Where are the AP groups in PI 1.3 ?
The documentation in PI 1.3 states
Step 1 Choose Configure > Controller Template Launch Pad.
Step 2 Click AP Groups or choose WLAN > AP Groups from the left sidebar menu.
AP groups in the controller itself shows the applied template names, but there are no templates ???????
Have you looked using classic theme and not the default lifecycle theme. Click on the root on the top right and choose classic theme. Also you might need to discover templates from the controller as they don't sync the information.

Prime Infrastructure 2.0 Importing user-defined group rules
Dears,
I'm looking for a way to import rules to put devices in a user defined group.
I can see how I can create groups and rules manually, but not how I could export or import those rules.
Is this possible, or on the roadmap?
Cheers,
MichelIn the Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 Deployment Guide under LMS 4.2 Data Migration there is a way to import settings from a "special" backup made from LMS.
This should allow for importing userdefined groups.
Does anyone have tried this yet?
Cheers,

Prime Infrastructure port grouping
Hi,
I have question regarding the port groups.
Is it possible to create a port group based on port type where the port type is a dot1q trunk?
In the drop down menu, I can only find Cisco ISL.
My goal is to apply the interface/port monitoring only on trunk interfaces/ports.
Regards
JoergThis discussion will be of your help:
https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2239478
You can select the interfaces of your interest for port groups manually. Check the user guide here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/prime/infrastructure/2.0/user/guide/setup_groups.html#wp1055433
P.S : In CSC it is always good to share the device and Cisco PI platform and version details. Many times you'll find features are supported in one release and not in others.

Prime Infrastructure 2.1 problem with sorting devices in device groups
Hi,
I have a problem with prime infrastructure, namely prime is not doing appropriate sorting of devices in default device groups.
Example: device type > routers > Cisco 2800 series integrated services routers - under shown results there are Cisco 2911 Integrated Service router, Cisco 2901 etc.
Any solution?
TnxHi all:
I have tried using Designing Monitoring Template to set the Health Check Polling time from default 15 minutes to 5 minutes and also tried also 1 minute.
The result is 5 minutes is working but 1 minute is not working.
May I know any one can help on this?
Many thanks!
Best regards,

JeremyHi Jeremy,
SNMP traps are shown in the events and alerts section of PI.
SNMP config looks fine. Can you run the SNMP debug (debug snmp packets ) .check the logs and see if the device is actually sending the TRAPS to the PI server.
Thanks-

Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 : Nms:RAID - RAID is Bad Detect rebuild progress
Hi,
I'm having problem on our Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 which is always happen HDD failure.
FYI, HDD failed at Slot 1.
This is details of message taken from our Cisco Prime alarms;
raid is bad detect rebuild progress... enclosure = 252 enclosure = 252 drive 255 is missing or bad
For your information, I was enter into RAID BIOS to saw the error. I got Slot:1, SAS, HDD, 278.464GB, Failed.
I also do the Rebuild drives on that HDD. After Rebuild is completed the HDD back to ONLINE.
But I still face the same problem for the next day.
Please help us to resolved the problem.
Thanks and Regrads.

BIT Group Sdn BhdYou have the necessary CPU, memory and hard drive specifications for an Express size installation (Reference).
To install Prime Infrastructure 2.0 you will need to first install VMware ESX/ESXi. This is documented in the same Getting Started Guide I linked to above at this link.
Once you get that far along, just follow the setup wizard and installation is pretty simple.
FYI you will get better attention to Prime questions over in the Network Management forum. -
Prime Infrastructure 2.1 - SFP port alarms to email/show total network traffic speed
Hello,
Running Prime Infrastructure 2.1 with assurance license.
I have two questions:
1. Setting up alarms in PI 2.1. I've set up a port group of my main switches that have TenGig links to our main router. I have set up a monitor template that has only interface availability on it and then deployed it. In theory, this should email me, the contact (where I put my email address in), when the ports that I have set up go down, correct?
2. I want to monitor the entire traffic of the network going in to the router from our TenGig ports. I've messed around with the dashlets and adding my port group to the WAN utilization dashlet but only see % of utilization. I'd like to be able to see raw traffic stats from those ports. I'm sure I'm missing something. Where do I need to look in PI to check raw traffic data in Mbps/Gbps from my ports. In my first question, I do not get an email when a port goes down. I set up a test port and when I pulled it, after about 10 minutes, it had never sent me an email. I will continue to look through what I've been doing to see if I can figure it out.

Prime Infrastructure and WLC 2504 N+1 config syncronization
I've setup 2 cisco 2504 WLC's in a N+1 configuration, before we purchased Prime Infrastructure. Now I'm trying to syncronize the configurations between the two devices in PI. I've setup a configuration group, and it seems using templates will keep the configuration syncronized between the two devices. Is it possible for PI to automatically create the templates based on the current configuration of the device. Plus with PI 2.1 it seems like I have to create a template for every section of the configuration, shouldn't there be just one large template that has all the configurations.
Yes, you should be able to discover templates from the WLC

When is Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 released, and what does 2.0 offer?
We are running Prime Infrastructure 1.3 primarily for wireless management at this point. We have enough licenses to add all our switches, routers, and firewalls, but we're hesitant to do so until 2.0 comes out. While there are some features for backing up and configuring switches and routers, 1.3 still seems pretty limited in regards to non-wireless features. For example, nearly every report in 1.3 is for wireless controllers or AP's, there are no reports I've found relevent for switches and routers. I've read a lot of blogs, cisco posts, and white papers talking about how Cisco Prime Infrastrucure 2.0 will finally consolidate Prime into a truly all-in-one network management suite that can manage the entire Cisco environment. Does anyone know when it's officially being released? Does anyone have an tech sheets on what's new in 2.0, or what its capabilities are? I want to better understand what 2.0 has to offer, when it's coming out, how to upgrade, so I can start planning for the upgrade and eventually importing all our network devices to Cisco Prime for centralized management. Any useful information or links would be appreciated.
Thanks,
ChristianPI 2.0 is in Beta mode for testing in closed group already. However it may still take some time to get released on CCO for FCS.
I think it is expected to be released between aug-sep. BU has also started working on CPI 2.1, which you can see test uploads on CCO.
For what does it have for customers?
> As Cisco have a vision of one network Management software for both wired and wireless infrastructure, which started getting real partially with Cisco PI.
As WCS got evolved to NCS and eventually to Cisco Prime Infrastructure, but it doesnt yet have full Management capability for wired infra., which is there with LMS.
With CPI 2.x Cisco plans to blend entire LMS and WCS features together.

Prime Infrastructure 2.0 Job Approval notifications?
I have a question about notification for job approvers in Prime 2.0. I'm trying to setup PI such that a restricted user can create a configuration change on a wireless controller and submit it for approval by the PI admin.
The PI admin will likely not be logging in every day to check job approval status. I can't see anywhere that notifies the admin via email that a job is waiting. can this be done or am I missing something?
-TimHi Tim,
I don't think we have an email optiom to notify the ADMIN to approve the pending jobs ,however if you authorized any job then ONLY admin can approve to run the job.

Prime Infrastructure 2.x tacacs+ with radiator
Trying to setup Prime Infrastructure 2.x (2.2) to use Tacacs+. The Tacacs service is running on a Linux server running Radiator(4.12). With Radius and Radiator all we needed to do is define the user group and all the tasks associated with that group were inherited.
When configuring the TACACs configuration files have tried various permutations of adding the cisco-avpair(cisco-av-pair) reply attrs on authentication and/or authorization. When defining the group or using the individual tasks I get the following error message:

Email Notifications on Prime Infrastructure 2.1
Hi Everyone,
I have a Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 with almost 100 switches registered and managed properly. I have configured the Mail Server and alarm notifications are sent with no problems.
The deal is that I don´t want to recieve alarm mails for every single device that is registered. Is it possible to recieve mails just for a group of devices? I was checking the Cisco documents but could not find something clear about this.
Thanks for your help,

Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 Rest API XML does not add LF
I am using several scripts that dig the data from XML files created through Cisco Prime Infrastructure Rest API. It worked fine until 2.1. Now, with 2.2, seems Cisco stopped adding LF to each line and everything is 'one' line.
Here is an example with 2.1, there is a LF to the end of each line:
?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<queryResponse type="AccessPointDetails" rootUrl="https://server/webacs/api/v1/data" requestUrl="https://server/webacs/api/v1/data/AccessPointDetails?type=contains(UnifiedAp)&.full=true&.maxResults=1000&.firstResult=0" responseType="listEntityInstances" count="715" first="0" last="714">
<entity url="https://server/webacs/api/v1/data/AccessPointDetails/1505569" type="AccessPointDetails" dtoType="accessPointDetailsDTO">
<accessPointDetailsDTO id="1505569" displayName="1505569">

<neighborName>switch</neighborName>
<neighborPort>FastEthernet0/1</neighborPort>
<platform>cisco WS-C3560-8PC</platform>

Now, with 2.2, there is not LF anywhere:
?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?><queryResponse type="AccessPointDetails" rootUrl="https://server/webacs/api/v1/data" requestUrl="https://server/webacs/api/v1/data/AccessPointDetails?type=contains(UnifiedAp&.full=true&.maxResults=1000&.firstResult=0" responseType="listEntityInstances" count="715" first="0" last="714">

<accessPointDetailsDTO id="1505569" displayName="1505569"><adminStatus>ENABLE</adminStatus><apType>AP1240</apType><cdpNeighbors><cdpNeighbor>
Does anyone know, is this intentional or a mistake? Or is there a way how I control this?
I am reading on-line CPI Rest API docs, but seems cannot find anything.

Using Windows Network Policy Server to authenticate Prime Infrastructure 1.4 admin access
I am using Prime Infrastructure 1.4 and I am needing to set up RADIUS Authencation. I am using Microsoft Network Policy Server. I have done all of the setup on both systems. I have matched up the settings the best I can on both systems. I am trying to use CHAP. I keep getting username or passwrod is not valid. In a effort to test I changed the Authentication type to PAP (I do not want to use this because it is not encrypted) But in a effort of testing I changed the setting on both the NPS and on Prime. I am now able to log in. Changing back to CHAP it fails and states the Username or Password is invalid. SO, PLEASE HELP!!!!
Ok, I was able to resolve this over the weekend. The actual fix is a little complicated. You can find the full explination here: http://technologyordie.com/windows-nps-radius-authentication-of-cisco-prime-infrastructure
The basics are that Prime (1.3 is the version I am using at this point) expects two AV pairs from radius. They are as as follows:
NCS:role0=Admin
NCS:virtual-domain0=ROOT-DOMAIN
"Admin" is the name of the group you would like your users to have access at and "ROOT-DOMAIN" is the name of the domain you would like them to have access to.
For TACACS+ I suspect the AV Pairs are going to be the same but I have not been able to test that. -
