Prime Infrastructure 1.3 new install web password fails

I just installed Prime Infrastructure v1.3 twice in our lab and the CLI access works but the web gui password does not. I know the CLI password is not the same as the web password so changing it there won't help. Where can I find this in the shell? What steps can I take to resolve this issue? Is there a troubleshooting guide that covers this?
Thanks, Karl

So you can login to the CLI using the admin login credentials?
So you can't login to the WebUI using the root login credentials?
If this is the case, try, from the CLI running ncs password root password

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure and no new events / alarms since update to 2.2.1

    Hello,
I have upgraded our Cisco Prime Infrastructure from version 2.1 to 2.2.1 (with a backup and restore). We have round about 700 APs and three 5208 Controller. So far everything seems to work really fine. The only problem is that there are no new alarms/events under "Monitor", "Alarms and Events".
The last entries (events and alarms) are dated before the upgrade. Other informations (like client counts for example) are correct.
Is there a known bug related to my problem? Can anybody help?
    Thanks

    I have done some research:
I see the following problems in the log-package (downloaded from Prime):

I think that there is a problem with a too small tablespace. But I can´t fix that. Anybody? ;)

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 DVD install fails

We want to migrate to Prime 2.2, but management doesn't want the downtime of the appliance. Trying to install Prime 2.2 via DVD onto a Dell R300 server, and then import config from our appliance to test for issues. However, the NCS install fails due to a file issue. Second burned DVD fails as well. Has anyone tried this? Using a VM (at this point) is not an option.

I've not tried it but would not expect that to work.
The .iso image (DVD) is custom-built for installation onto the Cisco NCS hardware appliance. To install onto any other hardware, you would have to first have VMware ESXi hypervisor and install using the .ova image.

  • New Install - web browser?

I just installed OEL6 on a VirtualBox. Itis running the desktop, but it seems there is no browser installed.
Is there some kind of package manage for OEL6? I'm coming from Windows, so not sure how to do this.
    Cheers,
    Daniel

Oracle Linux 6, like RHEL 6 seems to install a browser called Konqueror, which you should find in the Applications - Internet menu. The Globe icon in the menu bar point's to Firefox, which does not seem to be installed by default, although I think I selected the Gnome Desktop at install.
Anyway, Firefox if you prefer, is easy to install once you setup yum package manager. Oracle provides public yum access if you simply follow the instructions at http://public-yum.oracle.com Don't forget to edit the file enable the repository for OL6.
Then as root or user type: sudo yum install firefox

  • New install - Filesystem check failed

I did a new installation of Arch today, and in a random fit of thrillseeking I used syslinux instead of grub for the bootloader. The installation said it was successful, but after restarting Arch failed to boot. The error was in the filesystem check.
/dev/sda5 is mounted. e2fsck: Cannot continue, aborting.
/dev/sda5 is where /usr is mounted.
Also, it complained that / is mounted read-only.
First question is, how is /usr already mounted? I searched the forums and the most promising thing I found involved mkinitcpio; apparently it tries to take a shortcut and mount /usr early and somehow this happens before the filesystems are fscked. However, I added the shutdown and fsck hooks to /etc/mkinitcpio.conf which are supposed to fix this (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mk … _partition), and nothing changed. So I'm out of ideas.
Second, why is / read-only? fstab only has the 'defaults' option listed for /. syslinux.cfg had the line 'APPEND root=/dev/sda2 ro' so I figured it was probably read-only because of that, but I tried booting both with the ro gone and with it changed to rw, but nothing changed there either, it still gives the message that / is mounted read-only.
My first inclination was just to disable the filesystem check in fstab, but that seemed like a cheap workaround. I'd really like to understand what the problem is.

karol wrote:Did you rebuilt the kernel image after you added the hooks?
No, I didn't realize I had to but that makes sense. Do I use the ABS, like this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … ild_System ? Do I need to do anything special to enable the hooks?

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.1 - Fetch VLAN Configuration - command failed

    Hi,
i am installing the system on a customer's site.
i've noticed that most of the devices configured on the PI have resulted in error in the Configuration Archive with this error:
Fetch VLAN Configuration - command failed.
i checked that the tftp service on the PI is enabled.
i tried manually executing from a device: copy flash:vlan.dat tftp://PI_IP and couldnt manage to do so.
i also tried manually to do it to another tftp server and it worked.
i dont see any FW drops.
does anyone have any idea how to troubleshoot this?
    thanks in advance!

As to get the VLAN information, the file in Cisco devices Flash : Vlan.dat is fetced, and if PI fails to do so, it gives this error. As it is a file in flash, PI needs to send it over to Server itself using TFTP.
If TFPT is somehow not working between Server and devices, it may throw this error.
Is it happening with all the devices or some perticular platform?
If with all the device, you need to check if there is any Firewall blocking TFTP access to devices.
Also, you can check if TFTP service on CPI is working properly by command ncs status.
If service is affected, try to restart service - service tftp restart Or you can restart the PI Machine itself.
    -Thanks

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 Web Log Invalid user password

    Hi,
I recently installed Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 per the set up guide. I was able to login into the webinterface.
Then I insert the radius server and reload ncs. Since then I'm not able to login to the web interface. I get the following error message "Invalid Username or Password. Please try again". Even when I set the ncs root user with a new password. One issue could be that i forgot the enable fallback to local.
Is there a way to change the radius config back via cli?
    Thanks a lot
    Hansruedi

    Hi Hansruedi,
Thanks you for your help and your time.
I followed your recomandation until the fourth step.
But after this step,  I lost the web page connection.
I check nsc status but all is running :
NMS still stopped. NMS must be running to have an access by web page ?
I restart Prime (by reload command) but nothing changed.
    Thanks

  • User Name and Password for Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1

    Hi all:
I am stuck at the login page of Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1.
I have tried using the user name root and its password (when log in with root at Vsphere Client) and also the login user name "before" get into the appliance infrastructure, all cannot work.
Anybody knows what is the default username or password or any way to set the username and password for this Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 website?
    Thanks!
    tangsuan

    Hi Tangsuan,
Following is the documented procedure for password recovery..
In order to modify the GUI root user password, you will need to login to the NCS CLI
as an admin user, and enter the command
"ncs password root password <new password>" (without the quotes)
This should set the web interface root user password :
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/ncs/1.1/configuration/guide/manag.html#wp1268889
If you have lost your CLI password , try the default logging that is  ,
CLI user is admin and not root, so please try logging in as admin with
the password that was set during setup. If that does not work , you need
the install disk that came with the appliance to recover that password.
    Follow these steps:
    Recovering a Lost Admin Password
If you lose or forget the admin password for NCS appliance, follow these steps.
Step 1 Reboot the NCS appliance with the ISO DVD inserted. The Cisco Prime Network Control
    System Welcome screen appears:
    ISOLINUX 3.11 2005-09-02  Copyright (C) 1994-2005 H. Peter Anvin
Welcome to Cisco Prime Network Control System
To boot from hard disk, press <Enter>.
    Available boot options:
[1] Network Control System Installation (Keyboard/Monitor)
[2] Network Control System Installation (Serial Console)
       [3] Recover administrator password. (Keyboard/Monitor)
[4] Recover administrator password. (Serial Console)
<Enter> Boot existing OS from Hard Disk.
Enter boot option and press <return>.
    boot:
Step 2 Select the desired recovery option, 3 or 4, depending on how you
are connected to the appliance and then follow the prompts.
    Thanks-

  • Install Prime Infrastructure 1.2

Hi. Can't connect to Prime Infrastructure 1.2 from web-browser.
    I installed Prime Infrastructure http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=284396249&flowid=34522&softwareid=284272932&release=1.2.0&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
I deployed OVA-file (around 500 Mb), but NCS is not running, and I have  only NCSPNP.
From console I haven't command like "ncs start". When I see "show ports", I noticed, that server doesn't listening on port 443 and I haven't "NCS" application.
What I have to do in this case?

I kinda have the same issue, root is denied access via cli just tells me incorrect password. I found a solution but i need the full iso file, but cant really find it anywhere on Cisco's homepage.
    Any help would be nice!

  • Installing Prime Infrastructure

    Hi All,
I have a question about the installation of prime infrastructure.
We have ordered prime infrastructure 1.1, after ordering we received 3 PAK codes. The goal is to install the LMS 4.2.
    - L-PILMS42-100 Prime Infrastructure LMS 4.2 - 100 Device Base Lic
    - L-PINCS11-100 Prime Infrastructure NCS 1.1 - 100 Device Base Lic
    - L-PINCSW11-100 Prime Infrastructure NCS WAN 1.1 - 100 Device Base Lic
If I'm not mistaken, we can install all 3 applications, but not on the same machine? Is that correct? And how do you choose to install LMS or NCS?
When deploying the OVA file? Where can you choose to use LMS or NCS?
Or is it the same OVA file for each application and does it unlock features depending on which license file you enter in the web interface?
    Thanks,
    Best Regards,
    Joris

Prime Infrastructure NCS 1.1 dropped the NCS name when they moved to version 1.2 (and now at 1.3). That's the second item in your original post. The 1.1 license will still be good when you upgrade to 1.3. In fact, if it's a brand new installation, you might as well start with 1.3. You can download the image from www.cisco.com/go/nmsevals and apply your 1.1 license.
Prime LMS as noted above uses its own separate license and runs on its own separate server / VM.
There's no proper product name "Prime Infrastructure LMS" though some docs may mistakenly call it that. "Cisco Prime" is the new sweeping name for a set of complimentary products developed around a loosely common architecture and look and feel. It includes Prime Infrastructure (PI), Prime LMS, Prime Security Manager (PRSM), etc.
Prime Infrastructure NCS WAN 1.1 was a one timeproduct release designed for custoemrs with some specific needs for wired infrastructure management and without having LMS. It wil not be developed further and if you have LMS there's no need to install and operate the PI NCS WAN product.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 Web Log In Error

    Hi,
I recently installed Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 per the set up guide. I am able to log into the VM back end but when I try to log into the web interface with the admin account I get the following error message "Invalid Username or Password. Please try again". I verified that the username and password are correct but I still can not get in.

I think there is some bug (or feature) that makes that the accounts defined during setup are not valid in the web gui.
Since the users I created using CLI, work when I SSH into the PI 1.3, I know they are correct.
Clearly the web part uses a different way to authenticate users. I'm told all this worked just fine in PI 1.2, so not sure what cisco is up to.
To resolve this use the root account to login in the web interface.
It has the same pw as the admin user.
There you can create an admin account (and or others)
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure patch 2.1.1 - installed or no?

I’ve reinstalled new Cisco Prime using the newest ISO image version 2.1.0.0.87. After that I installed the patch file (pi211_20140630_01.ubf) for version 2.1.1 and rebooted the server. After that I don’t see any information in CLI that I have version 2.1.1 installed. When I type sh ver I still see version 2.1.0.0.87. The only information which confirm this information is a “Software update” site in GUI interface where status of the patch is "Installed". Is this normal behavior?
    Regards
    Lukas

Patch installed through ubf not showing info in CLI and login page
    CSCup78886
    Description
    Symptom:
After installing the "2.1.1" patch (filename pi211_20140630_01.ubf) for Prime Infrastructure 2.1.0.0.87 through the Administration > Software Update page and issuing an "ncs stop/ncs start" sequence from the CLI, the version information on the Prime Infrastructure login page, the CLI output of "show version" or Help > About pages does not indicate version 2.1.1.
    Conditions:
    Workaround:
At this time, there is no workaround. Please confirm proper patch installation on the Administration > Software Update page. Column "Installed' with the value "Yes" and column "Pending Restart" with the value "No" indicate that the 2.1.1 patch is indeed correctly installed.

  • Can i install Cisco prime infrastructure 1.3 with 1.1 license.

Can i install Cisco prime infrastructure 1.3 with 1.1 license. To be more precise it will be fresh installation
but the licenses I have is of 1.1.As per my overview from Cisco prime Infrastructure 1.2 NCS and NCS(WAN)
has been bundled into one service. But both were seperate entities in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.1.

It doesn't matter if you want to make a new installation or an upgrade. The questions is the license.
The base license is necessary for network management nodes (devices). But to get updates for your system you need the additional to your Base License the Lifecycle License (which can be ordered for 12, 24 or 36 months).
The Lifycycle License is also based on the number of managed devices. In your case 50 devices. So you have that License - congratulations!
Otherwise order the Lifecycle License for 50 devices (L-N-PI12-50-M). This generates CON-PSUU-PI12LF50 for 12 months, list price 414,81$. Then Upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2, patch the system and upgrade to 1.3.
    Have fun,

  • Install wildcard SSL on Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.4

I'm trying to install a wildcard SSL on a Cisco Prime Infrastrucure 1.4.
I've manage to install this certificate on the Cisco 5508 WLC, however not so much success with the Cisco Prime.
There are alot of documentation regarding the installtion of CSR certificates however I could not find anything related to wildcard or public key certificates from Cisco.
I did find the following from a NetBoyers, I've tried this process however this seems to apply for NCS versions prior to 1.4 as it was unsuccessful
Any assistance would be creatly appreciated.

I was able to follow the procedure in the Admin Guide to successfully import and use a CA-issued wildcard certificate (from GoDaddy) with unencrypted private key where the original CSR was not generated by the Prime Infrastructure server.
Prime needs to be defined with a record in your DNS serving the domain in the wildcard certificate. In my case I am using both an A record and cname alias.
Following a server restart the wildcard certificate appears fine in Chrome, Firefox and IE when I browse to https://prime.<my_customer's_domain>.
Below are the commands I used. You would need to have your own certificate and keyfile. My certificate includes the full chain - server certificate, intermediate certificate and root certificate in that order.
