Prime Infrastructure 2.0: Inventory/detailed HW reports customizing

Hello,
isn't it possible to run a/one detailed hardware report that includes the chassis information Name, the device name, the chassis serial number?
Example:
Chassis Information Name
Device Hostname
Serial Number
WS-C3750V2-24PS-S
switch1x2
FX31338243d
In my knowledge I have to run a "Wired Detailed Device Inventory" report to get the chassis informatin name and a "Detailed Hardware" report to get the device hostname.
In LMS it was possible to customize the inventory reports. It looks like the Prime 2.0 is not that flexible in customizing the reports or has anyone a tip for me?
Thanks
Bastian

Sorry, but as far as I know this can't be done with PI 2.0 like it could be on LMS 4.x.
I agree it would be a very useful feature. Add to the reporting the ability to get all members of a switch stack and we would have a winner.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 Inventory Job

My cisco prime infrastructure performs a switch inventory job every night at 22:00 hrs.  When I looked at the syslog of the devices in the inventory, I see some entries that I never saw with other LMS versions.
    2014-06-30 22:00:01    Local7.Notice    xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx    5410: Jun 30 22:00:00.623 CST: %SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx by snmp

I don't understand what the PI is doing with the switches.  Does anyone know what is happening during this inventory background job?  TIA

    Hello all,
    we have the same problem maybe; Cisco Prime IF 2.1 is changing the running-configs and produces out-of-syncs ;
it turns so for us is, as if Cisco Prime IF 2.1 a snmp-server host x.x.x.x community entry writes in the running-config,
so are running-and startup-config are out-of-sync; is this correct?  Herbert

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure - not updating device details

We run Cisco prime Infrastructure and I have found an interesting problem that I can't see an easy way round.
If I have say a Cisco 2950 switch on my network, managed by Prime and I upgrade it to a 3560 - I then ask Prime to re-sync the device details.
This works - you can see the updated configuration files etc but the device ID stays the same - Prime still thinks it is a 3560, which it was when the device was originally added.
Is there a way, short of deleting the device and adding it again (losing the config archive) of getting prime to update it's details to reflect the hardware change?
It came to light as it screwed up a network hardware audit I was doing - this is all showing up on Prime as the old 2050's which I have replaced with 3560's.
There must be an easier way that just deleting the device and re-adding it?

This is by no means a full solution, but deleting and re-adding only takes a few minutes if you use the "Export Device" and "Bulk Import" features from the Device Work Center. You can export the desired devices to a CSV file, delete them, then import from the CSV.
Of course, you might lose historical data when deleting the devices, but I'm guessing that's not as relevant since the devices themselves have been replaced by different hardware.

  • Prime infrastructure 2.0 inventory reports

In lms it was easy to get inventory report on our router cards draughtboards etc. when I go to report launch pad>device>detailed hardware and run combined inventory I get "no data found" under the modules and interfaces....this is the ONLY report requested by the customer, is this really not available in PI 2.0?
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App

Reports  (deatiled Hardware ) are working fine  for me.  check the attached screenshot
Check the device  "Inventory collection status " under device >workcenter   . status should be completed for those device

  • Prime infrastructure 2.0 - Inventory error with Virtual-Access Interface

    Hi,
We have recently been trying to resolve a few issues with routers which get partial inventory failures upon discovery. I have managed to narrow this down slightly with the help of the inventory.log file. (With help from this post https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2255346 ) I have found the following happnes when this device is added:
[2014-03-04 14:00:27,537] [ICE Service[ 1]Thread: 29] [inventory] [ERROR] - 172.16.3.202 Object detected as SAME but DB Object obtained from the database is NULL For instance id: 0 For generated POJO: PPPEncapsulation[callBack=false,callIn=false,callOut=false,multilink=false,name=Virtual-Access1,oneTime=false,owningEntityId=69757688_172.16.3.202,preferedAuthType=NONE,deployPending=NONE,name=Virtual-Access1,owningEntityId=69757688_172.16.3.202,instanceId=0,_orderedListOEIndex=<Integer>,_creationOrderIndex=<Integer>,instanceVersion=0]
I have highlighted above where it mentions the problem with the virtual access interface. The configuration on the router is for PPPoE and the virtual-access1 interface is bound to Dialer0.
It then goes on to roll back the transaction:
    172.16.3.202 persistObjects called with addList size = 307, updateList size = 6
172.16.3.202 Exception while persisting: com.cisco.xmp.persistence.common.util.DMMCRUDException:,message=errorId=12,componentName=CRUD Error Create Object Failed
172.16.3.202 Exception occured while inventory collection for device with id 69757688: com.cisco.xmp.inventory.ice.InventoryException: errorId=12,componentName=CRUD Error Create Object Failed
172.16.3.202 Done with collection. Total call method time: 15308
    172.16.3.202 Rolling back the transaction
Has anyone else come accross this issue?
I have attched the log showing just messages from this device.
    Thanks,
    Mike.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.0: Inventory Collection - Partial Collection Failure on 2 of 4 VSS WS-C6509-E

    Hello,
I've got a strange behaviour regarding the inventory collection for 2 of 4 virtual switching systems.
That means the inventory collection for two VSS is succesfull (inventory collections status = Completed) for the other two systems it is not, see attachments.
The device credentials like SNMP-RW, SSH acces are OK. I've already tried to increase SNMP timout and retries as well as telnet/ssh timout without success
All 4 systems are identical regarding hardware model and software vesion.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.1 switch PoE usage report (is it possible?)

Does anybody know how to get PI 2.1 to report on power availability in switches?  I cant find anything so far either in the docs or by trying to run some random reports.  I don't want to run show power inline on every switch, this has to be something PI can do surely!
    thanks in advance.

AFAIk , unfortunately there is such report exist and even the custom report option is not available.
If anyone has a different view ,kindly share it with us.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 (1.3.0.20) Custom snmp

After importing custom snmp MIB and deploying it I cannot find where can I see the pulled data?
Where do I go to create custom report or custom dashlet to show data pulled through custom mib and custom snmp template?
    thx

    Hi Bart
Take a look on the PI user guide for version 2.0.
On page A-7 you see how to Add the Generic Dashlet and map it to your custom SNMP template.
For me it works OK for table display the attributes.
When I change for Chart display I can not choose the attribute to plot.
I allways get ifIndex as attribute to plot.
I am using the RFC1213 mib and the ifTable.

  • Does Cisco Prime Infrastructure supports monitoring CPU,Memory, HDD for UCS , VMWare?

Does Cisco Prime Infrastructure supports monitoring CPU,Memory, HDD for UCS , VMWare?

Prime Infrastructure/ Assurance is  positioned today more towards managing network elements and network performance,  rather than server infrastructure. We are in the process of adding Datacenter  component support, with more focus on Nexus and UCS- due later this  year.
Having said that, Prime Infrastructure allows the system user to  add custom SNMP polling templates, which can then be used for polling any SNMP  based values from any SNMP enabled device. These can be used to collect the  information you specified below and the polled information will be available in  dashboards and reports.

I have two wlc 5508 in HA with image version 7.4.110. These two WLC are connected on two 6509 Catalyst Switch VSS system. On the WLC the LAG are enabled for the connection to the VSS. When i am trying to add the WLC to PI 2  once is succsessful. The connection continew working for a wile and after 3 hours or 5 hours or 1 day lost the connection between these two (WLC 5508 & PI.2) . After this trying again to add the WLC to PI.2 with no success . It became unreachable but the ping between the WLC & PI.2 its working fine.
It realy importand for me to add the WLC to PI.2 becouse it is the eyes for the APs for me.
Also the image of WLC 7.4.110 is compatible for PI.2 . I check it at cisco matrix files. Cisco also sugest 7.4.110 image for PI.2

  • Upgrading prime infrastructure 2.1.0.0.78 - 2.1 cannot do app backup

    Hi All
Trying to do an upgrade prime 2.1.0.0.78  to prime 2.2.
I have saved an app backup off the exisitng prime 2.1.0.0.78
However when i try to restore to the new prime infra 2.2
with the backup from the 2.1.0.0.78 it fails with a database error
My technical support say i should change the new vm server
to match ip addresses etc with the old one but that cant be right
as this is the official blurb for the types of backups ...
Application backups: These contain all Prime Infrastructure application data, but do not include host-specific settings, such as the server hostname and IP address. Application backups are intended for use when Prime Infrastructure is running as an OVA on customer-supplied hardware, as restoring from the backup may need to be to a server with completely different host settings.
Appliance backups: These contain all application data and host-specific settings, including the hostname, IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway. Appliance backups are intended for use when Prime Infrastructure is running on a Cisco-supplied appliance, and restoration is most likely to be to a server with the same host settings.
I am obviously using the application backups

New installation of Prime Infrastructure 2.2.0 (PI-VA-2.2.0.0.158.ova)
    installed fixes/software/device packs:
    PI 2.2.1 Poodle Fix (installed)
    PI 2.2.1 Maintenance Release (installed,ncs stopped,rebooted)
    Prime Infrastrucutre 2.2 Device Pack 3 (installed,ncs stopped,rebooted)
    Licences installed (ncs stopped,rebooted)
Added all devices via Bulk Import (Inventory>Device Management>Network Devices)
    Problem 1:
The Cisco 5500 WLCs are not listed in Inventory>Device Management>Network Devices (see screen shot) but listed under "All Devices"!
The Cisco 4400 WLCs and the 8500 WLCs are listed within their subgroup.
    Devices are in "Managed State"
    Problem 2: fixed! (Browser issue)
    Problem 3:
Unable to run "Wired Detailed Device Inventory" report because I get the error message: Failed to run report: Unable to retrieve data for: Chassis Information (if Chassis Information is selected, if System Information is selected I get the error message with ...retrieve data for:System Information)
All devices do have an "Admin Status = Managed" and the Last Inventory Collections Status = Completed.
Has anyone the same issues or a tip for me?
Another topic, the "User Defined Fileds" are not exported when with running a "Device Export" (Inventory > Device Management > Network Devices). ;-(

    Hallo Bastian,
I think you still have browser issue, Using IE is still the best with Prime.
I have exactly same prime 2.2 and installed fixes/software/device packs.
I have no problem I can see all views. I use now IE 11, with Chrome 42.0.2311.90 and firefox 37.01 I have problems too with lots of views. You have not tell what browser + version you have.
Since you have same prime 2.2 as me. I have other problems, can you check yours?
Can you see a functional CLI template page at Configuration > Templates > Features & Technologies:

Do you have SNMP Connectivity Failed while Verify Credentials  has no errors all green and checked.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.1: Report - Device - Inventory

    Hi there,
we want to have an inventory report of your device database.
The infrastructure is a wild mix of Catalyst 6500er, 3560X, 3750X, N7K, N5K, WLC, etc.
We are using the prime infrastructure 2.1 Report Launch Pad and the API site. The maximum we get of a N7K:
    UDI serial number
    FAN serial number
The whole Module serials numbers are missing. How do we get this data?
    br,
    chris

    Hi,
    here is an update:
There are more than one Report you need to start to get data for Device, FAN, Power Supply, Module - look at these reports:
Report > Report Launch Pad > Device > Inventory
Report > Report Lauch Pad > Device > Wired Detailed Device Inventory
Report > Report Lauch Pad > Device > Wired Module Detail > Wired Module Detail Report Details
SFPs and GBICs cannot be reported til now - there are working on it.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.1 Client Statistic Report Issues

    Hello Community,
I hope you can help with a couple of issues I am seeing on Prime Infrastructure 2.1, running an evaluation 60 day license.
My PI 2.1 build is currently managing a WLC 5508 running 7.4.121.0, which has been added successfully. No configuration changes were applied to the WLCs, other than SNMP community. No AVC or medianet configuration is applied.
When looking in the 'Operate>Client and Users' dashboard; I can see connected clients and if I select one of them, I can see further details like session, security and client statistics (showing traffic and 802.11 metrics). These are the table views that show current values, however, further down I see graphs but they do not contain any information for RSSI, SNR or traffic sent & received (packets or bytes).
Question: Should I see this information under an evaluation license and if so, what could be stopping it?
Also, when I run the reports 'Report>Report Launch Pad' and select 'Client>Client Traffic' or 'Client>Client Throughput' the resulting report contains 0 bps, when I select 'Report By' AP by Floor Area. I have created a single floor area and placed three access points into it.
Out of interest if I do a report of the same type using 'Report By' All or AP by Controller, I do see traffic graphs for 3 out of 333 access points. Just not the access points that are in my floor area. Also the amount of traffic utilization is tiny (less than a kbps) for a WLC with 800 users.
For a 'Client>Client Count' report using AP by Floor Area, I do see the client numbers connected to the WLC/APs in my configured floor area.
Question: Should I see reports for client traffic and throughput under an evaluation license for floor areas and if so, what could be stopping it?
I have checked the background task and the 'Client Statistics' task is enabled and run time is being updated.
    Kind regards,
    Ian
