Prime Infrastructure 2.2 - Network Topology View - Spanning Tree View

Hello Team,
Is it possible on PI 2.2 (latest version) under Maps/Network Topology View to be able to "monitor" the spanning-tree performance?
thanks in advance,
George

Sorry but that's not a currently offered feature.
It would be nice - the Netsys product that Cisco acquired 18-1/2 years ago (and subsequently abandoned) used to do this quite nicely.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 - Network Topology error

    He dears,
My Customer has installed over UCS Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2.
The network is composed with Switches nexus 93962-px and 2960x. All devices were discovered and inventoried successfully.
The problems is that Network Topology is not showing the connections between devices. Some devices connections are showed (partially) and another not.
We've already checked that CDP is run and working fine on all of switches.
    I appreciate your help!
    Tks,
    Regis

I'm sorry to say that but Prime Infrastructure does not support IP SLA functionality similar to Cisco Prime LMS:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/netmgtsw/ps6504/ps6528/ps12239/guide_c07-729089.html
It's in the developer's plans but there's no schedule yet for this feature.
It's possible to manually configure IP SLA on the device and then define Custom SNMP templates in Prime Infrastructure and poll whatever information you might consider relevant.
This isn't user friendly (exact OID needs to be typed manually) and is a bit quite complicated, though.
    -Thanks
    Vinod

  • LMS4.1: blocking Topology Spanning Tree View

    Hello,
After selecting a VLAN in Topology's Spanning Tree View to want see forwarding and blocked ports, all TopologyView Windows hangs for ever (>15min, reproduceable). The cancel button doesnt work, killing from task manager is the only possibility to stop.
The managed network is a Multiple Spanning tree where a HP device is the root bridge for migration reasons.

  • Prime Infrastructure with Mesh Networks

My customer has a Mesh network at a sea port.  They have about 15 mesh access points at each location with two controllers each.  Would Prime Infrastructure work with a mesh deployment?  There is a lot of interference and sometimes the performance of the network is affected.  I want to use the WCS portion of Prime, to manage the mesh coverage, parent/child relationship between the RAP's and MAP's.
Please let me know if Prime is something I can suggest to my customer to ease the management of the mesh network.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi Scott
Prime is the replacement for wcs. Wcs isn't supported past code 7.0.

  • View spanning tree configuraton for all the switches in ciscoworks

    Hi All,
Is there any way I can see spanning tree configuration for all the switches we have on our networks in Ciscoworks.
    Waiting for your kind reply.
    Thanks in advance
    samir

This can be done from within Campus Manager's Topology Services.  Open up the LAN Edge View map, and you should seesome switch clouds on the map.  If you drill into one of the clouds, you should see a Spanning Tree option in the right-hand tree.  If you expand this, you can visualize the spanning tree for MISTP or even for each VLAN.

  • Is cisco prime infrastructure 1.2 support topology auto-discovery ?

         Is anyone konw it ?
         Thanks!

PI (any version) does not yet have the Topology tool.
It didn't get done and won't be included until sometime after 2.0 is released in June.

  • Spanning tree root ports in back to back VPC

Ok so I have a question about back to back VPC configuration.
I have a back to back VPC from core to agg layer so that I have 2 logical switches in my path.
However I am seeing an issue on the agg layer.  Traffic is traversing the VPC peerlink instead of being sent up to the core which is where the spanning-tree root is configured.
Po1 is my uplink from the agg
Po4 is my vpc peerlink on the Agg
    Po1              Root FWD 200       128.4096 (vPC) P2p
    Po2              Desg FWD 200       128.4097 (vPC) P2p
    Po4              Root FWD 330       128.4099 (vPC peer-link) Network P2p
    Eth2/6           Altn BLK 2000      128.262  P2p

    a little more info.
Po1 is my uplink to the core
Po4 is my agg vpc peer.
I see 2 paths to root on one swith.  it is choosing Po4 (vpc peerlink) instead of Po1 (uplink to core)

  • Tree View Issue

I am parsing an XML file to construct my data model for the tree view.
Tree view is being constructed , but when I expand my root node, its children including their subchildren are shown.
Behaviour should be that on clicking a parent node , its immediate children should be shown i.e 1level hierarchy .
But in my case subchildrens of a  child are also shown on expanding my root node.(beyond 1 level hierarchy).
Is there any way to prevent showing of subchildrens on expanding parent node.
    e.g
    A->
        B->
            C
            D
In above example when expanding A , only B should be shown. But in my case C &D are also shown.
Also button used for expanding subnodes of B is shown as unexpanded .(i.e its not upside down even though its children are expanded)

    Hi,
I believe it is just administrators that can view it in tree mode, unless somebody knows any different.
    Cheers

  • Topology View / Service with Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x "PRIME-NCS-APL-K9" ????

    Hi Team,
    Hope you all doing well.
I just want know few thing about Cisco Prime Infra 2.x.
1st thing is does CPI2.x support Network topology View? if not then is that any other feature which can provide Network View (exa :- Map,etc)?
2nd thing is it possible to take Telnet/Ssh of discovered device from CPI2.x then how we can do that?
3rd Thing if we want to add third party device in CPI2.x then what are prerequisite for the same (Vendor MIB, etc) and procedure?
    Your help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vishal

    Hi Vishal,
Since you don't have any data as such on PI 2.1 , go ahead installed PI 2.2 on the Appliance.
Yes , you need to download , the .ISO image and burned it on DVD and start the installation.
    here is the download link::
    https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=286236028&flowid=72882&softwareid=284272932&release=2.2&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
You need to check if you are entitle for download or not.
Can we installed PI 2.2 from current PI 2.1 GUI access? No , it is not possible.
check these links for installation step::

  • Network topology map Cisco Prime Infrastructure

Hi just want to inquire if it is possible to create a network topology map on cisco prime infrastructure's dashboard that will display both wired and wireless devices or do we need another cisco product to accomplish it.
    Thanks

At long last, Prime Infrastructure 2.2 was released yesterday (17 December 2014) and now includes the Topology map feature:
"Cisco Prime Infrastructure provides a visual map that allows you to view the physical network topology, including the network devices and the links that connect them. The topology maps have indicators that show the current alarm status of network devices and links. By using the network topology maps, you can easily monitor your network by viewing alarms and viewing the interconnection between the devices." (Link)
I'm migrating a system now and will open a new thread with first impressions.

  • LMS 4.1 Network Topology Layer 2 view - Re layout map not working

I've finally got Topology Data Collection working on Prime LMS 4.1.
However, when I run Network Topology Layer 2 view and try and re-layout the view to any of the options, Circular, Hierarchical, Symmetrical or Orthogonal, the map never re-draws to that type of layout. It always stays as a mess.
I think it must be a 'feature'.
    Any ideas ?
    Cheers
    Barry

I searched again and didn't find any errors in the same line as the IP or Hostname of the unconnected switches. But I did notice that these switches and all of the devices upstream have "Discovery ani TopoSMFGenerateAbstractTopology" lines where the rest have "Discovery ani TopoSMFGenerateCdpTopology". Do I need to delete everything upstream to the seed device and then rerun a Data Collection? I've included the log. One of the unconnected switches is: 192.168.40.11 Display name: TC160_C. Thanks again.

  • Drawing network topology in Cisco Prime LMS 4.2

    Hi all:
I installed the Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 and managed to discover the Cisco devices and user devices like my PC stations.
Then I tried to draw the network topology from this LMS 4.2 and I found the topology under the Configuration and Monitor tab. By clicking to these two tabs, it appears a page of something like below:
    Topology Services
You can use Topology Services to:
    - View detailed xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    - Display the physical and logical services in your network
    - xxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    - xxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    - xxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    - xxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    - xxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
There is no action click on this page and it looks like an explanation page and cannot do anything.
May I know how to draw the networl topology by this Cisco Prime LMS 4.2?
Hope to hear the answer from anyone know about this soon. Many thanks!
    Warmest regards,
    tangsuan

    Hi Mantej:
Thanks to your link and I have downloaded the Prime LMS 4.2 document.
I then read and installed the JRE first in 64 bits because my Windows OS is 64bits but it still prompts out the Java installation screen. I then installed the JRE in 32 bits.
After that, it has no more Java installation screen. It then request for downloading file at the Windows top bar. I follow the request to riight click to allow the downloading. The Java running and downlaod the file.
After that, I cannot see any difference. Meaning I still cannot access anything for Toplology Services to draw my network topology diagram.
May I know what should be happen and what is the next step to do the topology drawing?
    Many thanks!
    Regards,
    tangsuan

  • Using Windows Network Policy Server to authenticate Prime Infrastructure 1.4 admin access

I am using Prime Infrastructure 1.4 and I am needing to set up RADIUS Authencation.  I am using Microsoft Network Policy Server.   I have done all of the setup on both systems.  I have matched up the settings the best I can on both systems.  I am trying to use CHAP.  I keep getting username or passwrod is not valid.  In a effort to test I changed the Authentication type to PAP (I do not want to use this because it is not encrypted) But in a effort of testing I changed the setting on both the NPS and on Prime.  I am now able to log in.  Changing back to CHAP it fails and states the Username or Password is invalid.  SO, PLEASE HELP!!!!

Ok, I was able to resolve this over the weekend.  The actual fix is a little complicated.  You can find the full explination here: http://technologyordie.com/windows-nps-radius-authentication-of-cisco-prime-infrastructure
The basics are that Prime (1.3 is the version I am using at this point) expects two AV pairs from radius.  They are as as follows:
    NCS:role0=Admin
    NCS:virtual-domain0=ROOT-DOMAIN
"Admin" is the name of the group you would like your users to have access at and "ROOT-DOMAIN" is the name of the domain you would like them to have access to.
For TACACS+ I suspect the AV Pairs are going to be the same but I have not been able to test that.

  • Using Windows Network Policy Server to authenticate Prime Infrastructure 1.2 admin access

    Dear all,
How can I authenticate admin access to the Prime infrastructure 1.2 using AAA mode RADIUS with Windows Network Policy Server as RADIUS server? I find some information using ACS as RADIUS server but cannot find how to for Windows NPS.
I try to configure the NPS but an error prompted when logging in to PI using an account in the NPS server, "No authorization information found for Remote Authenticated User. Please check the correctness of the associated task(s) and Virtual Domain(s) in the remote server"
    Thanks for your help.
