Prime Infrastructure 2.2- problems: Wired Detailed Device Inventory report not running / Cisco 5500 WLCs no listed in subgroup

New installation of Prime Infrastructure 2.2.0 (PI-VA-2.2.0.0.158.ova)
installed fixes/software/device packs:
PI 2.2.1 Poodle Fix (installed)
PI 2.2.1 Maintenance Release (installed,ncs stopped,rebooted)
Prime Infrastrucutre 2.2 Device Pack 3 (installed,ncs stopped,rebooted)
Licences installed (ncs stopped,rebooted)
Added all devices via Bulk Import (Inventory>Device Management>Network Devices)
Problem 1:
The Cisco 5500 WLCs are not listed in Inventory>Device Management>Network Devices (see screen shot) but listed under "All Devices"!
The Cisco 4400 WLCs and the 8500 WLCs are listed within their subgroup.
Devices are in "Managed State"
Problem 2: fixed! (Browser issue)
Problem 3:
Unable to run "Wired Detailed Device Inventory" report because I get the error message: Failed to run report: Unable to retrieve data for: Chassis Information (if Chassis Information is selected, if System Information is selected I get the error message with ...retrieve data for:System Information)
All devices do have an "Admin Status = Managed" and the Last Inventory Collections Status = Completed.
Has anyone the same issues or a tip for me?
Another topic, the "User Defined Fileds" are not exported when with running a "Device Export" (Inventory > Device Management > Network Devices). ;-(

Hallo Bastian,
I think you still have browser issue, Using IE is still the best with Prime.
I have exactly same prime 2.2 and installed fixes/software/device packs.
I have no problem I can see all views. I use now IE 11, with Chrome 42.0.2311.90 and firefox 37.01 I have problems too with lots of views. You have not tell what browser + version you have.
Since you have same prime 2.2 as me. I have other problems, can you check yours?
Can you see a functional CLI template page at Configuration > Templates > Features & Technologies:
https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12481691/can-cisco-prime-22-still-do-simple-ad-hoc-deployment-job-cli-over-all-switches
Do you have SNMP Connectivity Failed while Verify Credentials  has no errors all green and checked.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.1 problem with sorting devices in device groups

    Hi,
I have a problem with prime infrastructure, namely prime is not doing appropriate sorting of devices in default device groups.
Example: device type > routers > Cisco 2800 series integrated services routers - under shown results there are Cisco 2911 Integrated Service router, Cisco 2901 etc.
    Any solution?

    Hi all:
I have tried using Designing Monitoring Template to set the Health Check Polling time from default 15 minutes to 5 minutes and also tried also 1 minute.

May I know any one can help on this?

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.0 - Email alert when device is unreachable

Is there a way for PI to send email alerts when a device becomes unreachable? I know there are alerts when an interface goes down, but I can't find how to get prime to alert me ONLY when a device becomes unreachable.
Does anyone know how to do this? I can't believe such a simple feature would be so difficult to configure...

PI also generates an event when it finds unreachable device. An event is an occurrence or detection of some condition in or around the network. An event is a distinct incident that occurs at a specific point in time. Examples of events include:
    Port status change
    Device reset
Device becomes unreachable by the management station
You can view the list of events using the Event Browser.
Choose Operate > Alarms & Events , then click Events to access the Events Browser page.
Prime Infrastructure discovers events by automatically polling devices and discovering changes; for example, device unreachable.
For more details on Events, please check here :

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 to setup Discovered Devices in Dashboard Detail auto refresh in 3 minutes

    Hi all:
I found out that the discovered devices (after successful scanning) in the main Dashboard Detail cannot or take very long time to auto-refreshing the status change.
May I know is there any way by Command Line at the "Root" (I am using an OVA version) or by setting inside the Prime Infrastructure with GUI method to do scheduled Refreshing on the Dashboard Detail?
    Thanks!

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.1 - Out Of Sync Devices

    Hi all,
We are running a Cisco Prime Infrastructure Appliance (Version 2.1) to mange/monitor/configure our wired network infrastructure. We have been able to successfully add all of the network infrastructure devices to Prime and have had relative success in image deployment, reporting etc.
However, my query is in relation to the Configuration Archives. Currently Prime is indicating that 90% of our devices are 'Out of Sync'. I know that this means that there are discrepancies between the startup and running configs. I have compared the startup and running configs on some of the affected devices and the only differences I can see were in relation to the snmp-server contact XXXX entry and the self-signed certificate entry.
Can anyone tell me how I can go about troubleshooting this or how to bring the device configurations back into sync.
    Many thanks,
    John P

    Hi John,
If you navigate to Operate > Configuration Archives it will display a list of all your devices that are listed as out of sync.  From here you can sort to the devices that are listed as Out of sync, select the ones that are listed as such and schedule an overwrite.  There is also an option to archive immediately after it overwrites as well.  It may take a bit for it to update through this page, but navigating to individual devices through device work center and clicking on the configuration archive tab, will yield that the out of sync (startup/running mismatch) message will switch to no.

    Brandon

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.0 Automatically add remove devices

    Dears,
I'm basically looking for a dcrcli equivalent to use on prime infrastructure 2.0.
Customer has a central repository of devices that must be monitored. When devices are added or removed there, they automagically appear or disappear in the other systems.
Does something like this exist or is this on the roadmap?
    Cheers,
    Michel

    Hi Scott,
Upto 7.3 config guide it was documented we have to reboot WLC when we configuring SNMP v3 which is wrong. (here is 7.3 config guide link for reference). May be older version (prior to 7.0) had that requirement, not too sure about it
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/7.3/configuration/guide/b_wlc-cg_chapter_0100.html#d16741e4514a1635
From 7.4 onwards config guide does not talk about it all. I deleted the default SNMPv3 user & create a new user in 7.4 & add it to prime without rebooting WLC.
Once you configureed a SNMPv3 user on a WLC, I do no think you can edit/change the password. You have to delete the user & recreate it with modified username/password.Then re-add the WLC to prime
The behaviour you mentioned is with any of later codes  of WLC ?

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.x - Possible to Install On Own Hardware NOT as a VM?

    Hi All -
At my company, we're doing everything we can to improve PI performance, but it's still god-awful slow.
    - 24 GB RAM
    - 16 vCPUs
    - Moved it to its own ESXi host
Has anyone heard of taking the ISO and installing PI on your own bare-metal server with crazy specs?
Or, installing the PI application on top of your own Redhat Enterprise server, again with crazy specs?
We have 82 WLCs and thousands of LAPs in our implementation.  We haven't even added switches or autonomous APs yet!
We've followed all recommendations in the Performance Tuning section of the system guide.
    Ideas?
    Thanks!

I have attached the output of ps -ef, and I notice there are many instances of some processes, like:

  • ASR9K Series devices inventory is not working.

Hi all.  Inventory in CiscoWorks with new devices ASR9K Series is not working. CW version: LMS3.2.1. Device: ASR-9006 AC Chassis. Credentials correct. Can any help me?

Hello again and thx for advice,
I've tried the solution from Cisco for this bug (CSCte95623 ), by manipulating delays values in cmdsvc.properties file and restarting cfgmngmt process. I've changed delay values in very different manner (delay after connect, tunesleepmills, login, e.t.c). Unfortunately this solution didn't help. A CDA work for  SSH fails all the time. Also i've manipulated
ssh rate-limit and ssh session-limit values on device. It's a pity that opportunity to set on only sshv1 on device doesn't exist, so CW tries to connect only with sshv2 and there is no chance to check how it work with sshv1.
I'm becoming a bit desperate about that issue. Any ideas?!
There is some output from ssh debugs on device:

if you are having system wide issues archive and install would be the best bet. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120 first however, you must do disk repair http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214. hopefully you do not have severe directory damage. if disk utility finds errors it cannot fix, back up your info immediately. you can use a third party app like diskwarrior or techtool pro to attempt fixing the problem, and if it can't be fixed, you will have to erase and install your operating system. • Problems with OSX Yosemite and iCal not running workflows to back up documents folder.

I am trying to get my workflow I created to automatically back up to a SD Flash card I have in my Macbook Pro.  I have the workflow set up as an event on iCal but all the forums I have seen say to set the alert as "run the script" and I do not have that option.  In order for me to run my workflow I manually have to go into automator and run it. Plus many times when I want the program to run, my computer is sleeping/closed.  Any Ideas on how to get this process running automatically?
    Thanks!

http://www.macworld.com/article/1157339/automate_backup.html is the link I used originally for the workflow.
I just tried what you said in making the workflow into an application and then use it to run as an iCal alarm.  The application works great when I manually select it, but iCal still will not open it when it is set to open that specific application at the alarm time.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.1: Report - Device - Inventory

    Hi there,
we want to have an inventory report of your device database.
The infrastructure is a wild mix of Catalyst 6500er, 3560X, 3750X, N7K, N5K, WLC, etc.
We are using the prime infrastructure 2.1 Report Launch Pad and the API site. The maximum we get of a N7K:
    UDI serial number
    FAN serial number
The whole Module serials numbers are missing. How do we get this data?
    br,
    chris

    Hi,
    here is an update:
There are more than one Report you need to start to get data for Device, FAN, Power Supply, Module - look at these reports:
Report > Report Launch Pad > Device > Inventory
Report > Report Lauch Pad > Device > Wired Detailed Device Inventory
Report > Report Lauch Pad > Device > Wired Module Detail > Wired Module Detail Report Details
SFPs and GBICs cannot be reported til now - there are working on it.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.0: Inventory/detailed HW reports customizing

    Hello,
isn't it possible to run a/one detailed hardware report that includes the chassis information Name, the device name, the chassis serial number?
    Example:
    Chassis Information Name
    Device Hostname
    Serial Number
    WS-C3750V2-24PS-S
    switch1x2
    FX31338243d
In my knowledge I have to run a "Wired Detailed Device Inventory" report to get the chassis informatin name and a "Detailed Hardware" report to get the device hostname.
In LMS it was possible to customize the inventory reports. It looks like the Prime 2.0 is not that flexible in customizing the reports or has anyone a tip for me?
    Thanks
    Bastian

Sorry, but as far as I know this can't be done with PI 2.0 like it could be on LMS 4.x.
I agree it would be a very useful feature. Add to the reporting the ability to get all members of a switch stack and we would have a winner.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.1 Client Statistic Report Issues

    Hello Community,
I hope you can help with a couple of issues I am seeing on Prime Infrastructure 2.1, running an evaluation 60 day license.
My PI 2.1 build is currently managing a WLC 5508 running 7.4.121.0, which has been added successfully. No configuration changes were applied to the WLCs, other than SNMP community. No AVC or medianet configuration is applied.
When looking in the 'Operate>Client and Users' dashboard; I can see connected clients and if I select one of them, I can see further details like session, security and client statistics (showing traffic and 802.11 metrics). These are the table views that show current values, however, further down I see graphs but they do not contain any information for RSSI, SNR or traffic sent & received (packets or bytes).
Question: Should I see this information under an evaluation license and if so, what could be stopping it?
Also, when I run the reports 'Report>Report Launch Pad' and select 'Client>Client Traffic' or 'Client>Client Throughput' the resulting report contains 0 bps, when I select 'Report By' AP by Floor Area. I have created a single floor area and placed three access points into it.
Out of interest if I do a report of the same type using 'Report By' All or AP by Controller, I do see traffic graphs for 3 out of 333 access points. Just not the access points that are in my floor area. Also the amount of traffic utilization is tiny (less than a kbps) for a WLC with 800 users.
For a 'Client>Client Count' report using AP by Floor Area, I do see the client numbers connected to the WLC/APs in my configured floor area.
Question: Should I see reports for client traffic and throughput under an evaluation license for floor areas and if so, what could be stopping it?
I have checked the background task and the 'Client Statistics' task is enabled and run time is being updated.
    Kind regards,
    Ian

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.1 & Client Traffic Report

    Hi,
I know I can get the user Traffic & average session throughput as example over the Top 5 SSIDs and then I can create an overview for the
needed SSID with the needed columns Traffic & Avg. Session Throughput.
I checked  the option to get this overview with a report and I tried several client reports but I don´t find any report type  which provide me this
information  : Client MAC , AP ,Traffic & Avg. Session Throughput.
Is there a possibility to generate a report which includes above information ?
    Thanks
