Prime Infrastructure Device and Interface Health Collection Settings

Hello,
i am evaluating Prime Infrastructure 1.2, so far i have added two devices. A router 2911 and an Catalyst 3560x, but for both devices i don't get any graphs for memory, cpu or interface utilization.
I tried to enable Administration > System Settings > Monitoring Settings Auto Monitoring but the changes are not saved even i nice status message on the bottom right corner.
after a refresh it's like before.
I have an NCS as well and there i have in the background tasks Switch CPU and Memory Poll as well as Switch Interface Utilization Poll. In the Prime Infrastructure i don't have them at all. According to the Configuration Guide there should be a CAT Switch CPU and Memory Poll and a CAT Switch Interface Poll Task, but there is nothing.
Here the Screenshot from NCS
and here from Prime Infrastructure

Alex, Suwa
You can still monitor interfaces with the following workaround (which works for me):
Under Design > Monitoring Configuration:
From the tree on the left, expand Features > Interface Health
If needed, select the interface parameters to poll and the polling intervals, provide a name to your template and then click "Save as new template"
Under Deploy > Monitoring Deployment:
Locate your template and click the green "Deploy" button
Select which devices you want to poll, or just select a group like "Routers", Switches etc.
That should do the trick and information should show up after few minutes.
Hope it helps,
Tomer
BTW- you can also perform the same for device health, by using "Device Health" Metrics template under "Design".

  • SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure Device Controller Interface

    Hi,
Could you please explain the use of SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure Device Controller Interface?
    Thanks & Regards
    Sara

    Hi Sara,
SAP Device Controller Interface is the interface that will be used by device controller softwares to send data to SAP AII and vice versa. Device controllers filter the RFID reads and send a unique read event to SAP AII. SAP AII on receiving this message processes it. It can be the case that as part of processing we also require to send data back to devices/controller or send a command such as tag commissioning. At this time also the same interface is used.

  • I have installed succesfully a PCI cards seen by windows but it does not appears in the device and interfaces tools of the Measurement and automation manager?

Cannot install new objects in device and interface to use the ni-imaq library and to take image from my camera.

Which PCI card did you install? The PCI-8252 and PXI-8252 will not appear in MAX. Does your card appear in the Windows Device Manager?

  • No Devices and Interface in MAX

    Hi all,
I recently installed the evaluation version of LabVIEW and I am trying to communicate with a Mark-10 Series 5 force gauge. The problem, however, is that MAX does not seem to detect the instrument or any other instrument. There isn't even a Device and Interface tree.
I am running Windows 7 and the Mark-10 drivers are installed (and is detected by the device manager as a USB device).
Anyone have any idea what could be wrong?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I recently went through this problem. You have to register a USB instrument to use the VISA driver. There is an NI tutuorial on how to do this. You can find the tutorial here.
This allows 3rd party instruments to show in MAX and be used in LabVIEW.

  • NIMax shows error when opening device and interface

I have just installed NI-VISA 3.1. NIMax will not open the devices and interfaces configuration to allow me to see the GPIB and PXI devices.
It gives a message of "NIMax.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program."

    Hello,
It sounds like an installation has been corrupted. As a general, first-order fix for such problems, you can uninstall and reinstall the program with corrupted files (using add/remove programs from your control panel). To get a better idea for which program has corrupted files, when MAX crashes click the details button (if one shows) in the error message (include such information in any repost as well!). If your system was stable prior to installing NI-VISA 3.1, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling NI-VISA. If you have the time, I would uninstall all of your NI hardware and software, then reinstall your NI software, then reinstall your NI hardware (you should check your hardware manuals to be sure that your specific NI hardware does not require instal
lation before the software). Also, if you could provide the version information for all of your NI software and your current hardware setup (NI and otherwise), it may open other options for solutions!
    Thank you,

  • No list tree of device and interface, software in MAX sytem. using pci 6034E and chasis 2345

Hye, i got the problem about this device.
I using PCI 6034 E which will connect to SCC 2345 to measure current and voltage.
My os is 32 bit Windows XP.
First i install this software, my MAX listed the tree of devices & interface which is PCI 6034 E and chasis 2345, and all download software are listed in tree of software.
By the way, when i start to measure the current, my MAX is working fine.. but, the problem is starting in the next day, wheni try to measure againt, all the list are dissapear. Then i uninstall all the NI component and reinstall again. Thereare a lot of install and reinstall again and again.. By the way the result is still same. Do not have any tree appear..
so, any colution for my problem?
i try to solve this problem, and i read that when the tree of devices and interfaces not appear, it's maybe because we using driver : NI 488.2 , i try to uninstall this driver.. by the way the result is still same...

    sahizansalman,
It looks like the same is happening with the Software list. This is often a sign of a MAX database corruption. I'd try the steps outlined in this knowledgebase:
What is the Process For Removing MAX Database Corruption?
Feel free to post back if this does not work.
By the way, do you know what device is showing up as unknown in the device manager? You did not mention anything besides your PCI DAQ card and SCC 2345, which are showing up fine.

  • Missing Devices and Interfaces in Conviguration tree in MAX

I trying to configure our instruments in MAX, however devices and interfaces is missing from the configuration tree.  How can I fix this?

    Hi Nem,
Thanks for the reply and I hope your well today.
Ah ok, your trying to communicate with an instrument and LabVIEW. That is fine, so firstly I would suggest looking for a LabVIEW 'Driver' or LabVIEW VI library where the programming has already been done for you. Looking at ni.com/idnet I coudln't find a driver for the MW100.
Do you have VIs already? Or are you looking to program from the beginning? If so - do you have a programmer guide to the MW100?
Generally, though, to see the device in MAX you'll need the NI-Driver which handles the connectivity to the device.. this in general is NI-VISA, which can be downloaded at ni.com/downloads.  This handles GPIB/Serial/USB. However, we have more specific GPIB functions in LabVIEW which are installed with NI-488.2, and for Serial NI-Serial. I would advise installing the respective one also. (To confirm you'll need VISA to see the device in MAX).
A great guide for the process you need to follow can be found here,

  • Prime Infrastructure Device Configuration

I recently installed Prime Infrastructure to replace LMS and NCS, but I've encountered an issue with changing device settings.   I had a controller set up to pull configs with no issue, but I had to change the IP to move it to a different VLAN ("it" meaning the controller).   After I changed the IP, the device showed that it was unavailable in the device/operation dashboard in Prime INF, as expected.
Now, I can't find a way to change the IP address of the controller in any way, shape or form.   It allows me to change everything else, but not the IP address.   The only option I have is to delete the object and add a new one, which will remove access to the saved configurations.
I'm not sure if this is a bug or that it's defective by design, but if you can't change the management interface IP for a device without adding a new one, you've got a bit of a problem.

    That directory doesn't exist
    ade # ls -al /var/adm/CSCOpx/files/rme/dcma/shadow
ls: /var/adm/CSCOpx/files/rme/dcma/shadow: No such file or directory
    ade #
    ade # ls -al /var/adm/
ls: /var/adm/: No such file or directory
I guess the configs are not in individual files but within the database

    NetFlow is also supported by these devices Cisco 800, 1700, 1800, 2800, 3800, 6500, 7300, 7600, 10000, CRS-1 and these Catalyst series switches: 45xx, 55xx, 6xxx.
NetFlow export is also supported on other Cisco switches when using a NetFlow Feature Card (NFFC) or NFFC II and the Route Switch Module (RSM), or Route Switch Feature Card (RSFC). However, check whether version 5 is supported, as most switches export version 7 by default.
You can check the below steps to diagnose the issue::
To verify that NetFlow is exported from a device to PI, follow the steps below:
    1)    Browse to Administration > Data Sources page. Check the value in column ‘Last Active Time’  for the ‘Device Data Sources’ table. If the table is empty or  the value does not represent recent time, then
it is possible that the device is not exporting NetFlow or PI Assurance license is not applied / expired.
    2)    Login to PI console ( via SSH) as root user and run the command:
                    netstat –an | grep 9991 – Output of this should be like :  udp        0      0 :::9991         :::*
Check the firewall settings on PI server using the command: firewall -L
    1)    Check the configuration on an IOS / IOS –XE device. Run the commands
    a)    sh running-config | inc destination
    1)    This should list the IP address of the PI SERVER ( along with other outputs if any)
    b)    sh running-config | inc 9991
    1)    This should list at least one entry.
    c)    If the above are fine, then verify that the flow monitor, flow exporter and the flow records are correctly configured on the device.
Refer to the URLs below to configure NetFlow export.

  • Prime Infrastructure maps and API

Anyone know of a way to get map info from PI via API that allows you to associate APs to it?
I can get Sites which shows me the map names/structure along with apCount.
AccessPointDetails has a field called <mapLocation> however it only has the string description one liner location such as "default location".
I'm guessing that Sites has the DB links to what APs are associated, I just need a way to pull out which ones they are.
    Thanks.

  • FAQ: AII-DC-RFID (Auto ID Infrastructure - Device Controller Interface)

    Version: 20060317
Q: Where can i find more information to the AII-DC-RFID interface ?
A: Have a look on our ICC webpage in the SDN:
SAP Supply Chain Management- Device Controller Interface (AII-DC-RFID) [original link is broken]
Q: What costs are arising when we want our product to be certified ?
A: See also out SDN page under the headline "Price List".
Q: Is there a link/page for the already certified products for this interface ?
A: Sure, have a look on our ICC page under the headline "Certified Solutions"
Q: Who can we ask in case of general question ?
A: Have a look at our general ICC forum:
SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC)
Of course, if you have urgent requests you can send them also directly to our local ICC's:
ICC Walldorf in Germany: [email protected]
ICC Palo Alto in USA: [email protected]
ICC Bangalore in India: [email protected]
Q: Who can we ask in case of technical questions ?
A: This depends on the state of your certification project.
1.) If the certification contracts have been signed then you can ask in this forum and if this does not solve your question go back to your assigned integration consultant.
2.) When the certification contracts have not been signed then you can ask questions in this forum.
Q: Are there differences between version 2.1 and 4.0 ?
A: The interface has no changes from AII 2.1 to AII 4.0.

    Hi Sara,
SAP Device Controller Interface is the interface that will be used by device controller softwares to send data to SAP AII and vice versa. Device controllers filter the RFID reads and send a unique read event to SAP AII. SAP AII on receiving this message processes it. It can be the case that as part of processing we also require to send data back to devices/controller or send a command such as tag commissioning. At this time also the same interface is used.

  • Prime Infrastructure map and 3702I Azimuth/Elevation setting?

If I have all of my 3702I ceiling-mounted, what should I set the azimuth and elevation to in the map to get the most accurate heatmap?

I suspect that you can point the AZ/EL indicators anywhere you wish and they will have no affect on the resulting heatmap when using internal antenna devices as most all are Omni directional globe shapes.  Although I usually settle for a big salad bowl.
