Print borderless onto 4.5 x 5.5 notecards

I'm trying to print borderless  photos onto Avery #8315 notecards  using HP Officejet 6600 and Mac OSX 10.9.  If not borderless, how do I set equal borders all around?  Avery templates do not support Mac.

Hi Daniel!,
If you want to use WLS 5.1 it means in much things change to Java 2...and as
you know all the new features coming with it...In my own opinion if you are
using Java 2 right now and you know the limitations and bugs of some things
that are not supported with Java 2..and it doesn't affect you...you have
good time to change to WLS 5.1 and take advantage of the new features...and
having the latest Java specifications.
Regards.

Hi,
We are using WLS 4.5.1 on Solaris and NT and going in Production in 5
months.
Is it worth upgrading to 5.1? I went through "How to upgrade..." - it's not
too scary :-), unless I miss something.
Any experience ?
TIA,

  • Printing Borderless Envelopes

    Hello,
I can print 8.5 x 11 borderless (HP PhotoSmart 2610) but can't seem to figure out how to do borderless envelopes. Is this dependent on my printer or some setting in Illustrator? The print dialog box for #10 envelope gives a print area with margins (left and right) and I can't seem to even widen this print area. Any insight would be appreciated! Thank you!

    Hello,
I'm sorry I can't answer your question but maybe you can answer mine. I have been trying to print borderless 8.5x11 on my 2610 with no luck as yet. I am printing from Photoshop. I would appreciate any information you can give me. Thank you.

  • Printing borderless 4 x 6 photos from iPhoto on HP C7280 All-In-One?

I'm trying to help a friend with a printing problem and can use some help.
My friend uses a Macbook Pro running the latest version of OSX. He has a Hewlett Packard C7280 All-In-One as his printer.
My friend Joe likes to print 4 x 6 borderless photos from iPhoto but can't seem to make it work. Each time he tries to print a 4 x 6 borderless photo the photo comes out on 8.5 x 11 paper. The filled photo paper tray does not engage. He has "told" the printer that he wants 4 x 6 borderless on photo paper by making the appropriate selections.
This problem does not occur if he prints the pictures using HP Printing Solutions, the photo management application that came with the printer. When he uses the HP application he gets what he wants, 4 x 6 borderless prints.
I suspect that there is some setting currently unknown to us that needs to be adjusted in either OSX or iPhoto to enable us to print 4 x 6 borderless pictures in the same way we can with the HP photo management application.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks so much.

    Hello John,
I don't have any HP, I use Canon, but if I give you the steps I need to take from iPhoto 09 to print borderless 4 x 6, then you may be able to apply this to your friends printer.
In the iPhoto 09 print dialog, I need to select:
    Printer: Canon MP980
    Presets: Photo on Photo Paper
    Paper Size: 4"x6" (borderless)
    Print Size: Borderless
Now when you press Print, the print dialog will appear. Here I have to select Presets again and set to Photo on Photo Paper. I then change the iPhoto menu to the Canon quality menus to set additional information about the image quality. Now it is ready to print.

  • Photosmart 5520 not printing borderless

Hi,I have a Photosmart 5520 printer and use Mac computers (and sometimes ipads/iphones). One of the features of this printer that led to me buying it is that it is meant to have borderless printing. Most of my printing is done from MS Word. Although the printer is meant to be borderless, if I have Word documents with headers/footers, they always get cut off. There is at least a good centimetre or two of white border around the documents that I print. This is very annoying if I have spent a long time formatting a document assuming that there will be no borders! Can someone tell me how I am meant to print borderlessly? I am assuming that it is just a setting somewhere that I am missing but I cannot find it! Is this something that I will have to set up on all devices that use the printer? Or can I somehow make it a setting on the actual printer so that everything sent to it prints borderlessly? Thanks

The Photosmart 5520 (and other HP printers) can print borderless, but with a few cavaets: Borderless printing is only enabled when printing on photo paper.  (Plain paper would cockle if printed to the edge, this would cause jamming.)When printing borderless the print is oversized by a few percent to make sure that the image prints without leaving any white space if the media is printed skewed.  Borderless printing (and photo media selection) are not compatible with two-sided printing.

  • Lightroom 2.6 Problem Printing Borderless Prints on Epson R800

I have used Lightroom to print borderless prints (using the paper setting - borderless -sheet feeder) and all has worked fine until I downloaded the new Apple Epson driver.  I found this new Apple driver did not work well as the colours were washed out.  So, I went back to the current Epson driver for Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.2) and I can print again.  (The prints are now a bit dark but that can be addressed).
However, I now find I cannot print borderless prints (i.e. with no white edge) via Lightroom 2.6 using the current Epson driver and paper setting of borderless sheet feeder.  The printer responds with "media not loaded correctly".  When I go to Photoshop CS4 or iPhoto, I can print borderless prints. So, something is going on in Lightroom.
Any suggestions?  Except of course to print borderless prints from Photoshop.

    Sam,
I am still working on a similar problem with one of my Epson printers. The newer Epson R280 (may be R290 outside the US) works just fine with borderless. The older SP 2200 does not. I have been in communication with Epson, but not yet resolved. For most printers the newest software referenced for Leopard is with EasyPrint, but with this old 2200 the driver referenced is still not nearly as recently released as the EasyPrint frame work. The reply I got back from Epson was not satisfactory because it ignored the fact I am connected to my 2200 via Firewire and not USB, and all reference in the reply was to USB connection. Despite doubting the usefulness of the reply, I will have to move my 2200 much closer to the computer to try connecting with USB, and I simply have not tried it, since I doubt it will help.
My issues with borderless on the SP 2200 are also present when printing borderless from Photoshop CS3 and from Pages. Thus it seems more a problem with Leopard than with Aperture.
Sorry to not be more helpful or hopeful, but I think drivers for some printers are not fully tuned to printing in Leopard.

  • Difficulty printing borderless photos for custom sizes

I am finding it difficult to print a borderless photo. When I try to print using the photo paper I have it always prints a border (or does not print in the border - so i guess this is called cropped).
The photo paper is not in the "Paper Size" list of the print dialogue in Preview (or iPhoto). So I specify the size using the "Manage Custom Sizes" option (similar in iPhoto). The size is 89 x 127 mm. In the print preview it looks fine, but when it is printed, a white border (ie, non printed area) crops the whole image. The one side is a 5mm border, with its opposite being 3 and the other two being 3.4.
I have noticed that when I play around with the Paper size, the standard sizes (like A4) for example, all have a "borderless" option (ie, I can select "A4" or "A4 (borderless)"). When A borderless size is selected certain other options are disabled/enabled. For example, the options under the "borderless printing" 'tab' is enabled and the options under the "duplex printing and margins" 'tab' becomes disabled. This is the exact opposite for when I try and specify my paper size. So perhaps this is a factor. (Even though I would have expected the "border" option set to "none" would mean that there would be no border...)
So just to save ppls time, this is what I am doing when I print:
    1. The image is exactly 89x127mm (created with GIMP)
    2. I print using Preview (similar results are achieved in iPhoto, but more pain to get there)
    3. I set the paper size to 8.9 by 12.7cm (see note 1)
    4. I don't change the scale (though i have experimented with all options here and nothing seems to change).
    5. I check that Layout > Border > None is selected. It always is.
    6. I change Quality and Media > Media Type to Glossy Photo Paper. (not that this should matter)
    7. I go to borderless printing tab and note that it is disabled. great.
    8. The preview shows no borders and so I hit print, but the borders come anyway (the image gets cropped).
    Note
I have managed to print borderless photo images with this printer using the supplied photo paper that came with the printer. I don't think i have been able to do it since moving to this new size but I may be wrong...
    Note 1
When I am setting the size in Preview, I can specify the "Non-Printable Areas". I set these to zero, though I note that the 'canon mp640 series' presets are the exact measurements that is the area that does not get printed.
    Note 2
In case it has a bearing on the problem, the printer I am using is a Canon MP640.

I have had some more trials to print without boarders. This time, it was inside of iPhoto. I had made a greeting card and wanted to print to a custom size. but without the ability to select the size as a boarder less size, I was unable to print directly. So instead, I had to save as a pdf > save pdf to iPhoto and then print the image as a photo (instead of a card).

  • Printing Borderless and Multiple Pages per Sheet (PDF)

Anyway to do this? I have a thousand page pdf doc that I need to print out but want to maximize viewing area. Obviously individually cropping pages is out of the question.

You may be right about Adobe Reader.  However in Adobe Acrobat X Pro you can simply choose Print>[select booklet button] and choose your options there.  You will see a preview.  Because of the ratio between 8.5x11 and 2-up 8.5x11 you will have a "letterbox" white border on the top and bottom of your pages but you will be able to print with no gutter and no margin on the edges.  Your printer must allow for borderless printing and you must have enough ink.  You will have to have a high-end printer that can print borderless if it is a laser printer but most ink-jet/photo printers can print borderless.  However the downside is that you will have to replace your inks quite frequently and you will have to print duplex probably manually.  You will want a paper weight sufficiently heavy enough to accomodate printing on both sides because otherwise the opposite page will bleed through making it difficult to read.

  • Difficulty  Printing Borderless Prints with Epson C84

When I had an iMac G3 with OS 9.2 and used the Epson menu for printing, I had no difficulty printing 4x6 inch borderless prints (since that is one of the options on the Epson Menu). But now that I am forced to use the OS 10 printing menu, even when I identify the printer as an Epson C84, crop the photos to fit a 4x6 page and show "0" margins on all sides when selecting 4x6 as paper size, using either iPhoto or Photoshop Elements 3.0, the prints come out with a small white border on all four sides. The Apple Menu with Epson as the chosen printer does not give me an option that says "4 x 6 borderless" when choosing the paper size. Is there something I need to set differently in order to get borderless prints?
    hk Jones

I also had a problem finding the "Borderless" option in the print dialogue. Here's what Epson Support told me to do -- It worked perfectly. I can now print borderless from either of the two macs sharing my Epson 1280.
To correct the issue you are experiencing, we will perform a complete
removal of the files and reinstall the driver.

  • Can't print borderless with my Epson 1280

I have problem printing borderless from my Powerbook to Epson 1280, using the Photoshop CS. The print preview shows the photo to be print borderless (using Epson Glossy Paper), but yet all the printout came out with est 1/4" white border.
This morning, I connected the printer to my PC, and printed the same file using Photoshop 7.0, and it came out borderless.
So, based on that, the problem is not the printer.
Has anyone experienced the same problem before?

Check with Epson support for updated drivers. Also check with Guten print (formerly known as gimp-print) support if using their drivers have any updates for borderless printers.

  • Printing borderless leaves white line at bottom of print

    Hi,
being frustrated with the PS CS3 off center printing issue, I now try to print my pictures out of LR. But here, I have a problem printing borderless as well: Im am using an Epson 2400 on an IntelMac running OS 10.4.10.
E.g. when I want to print a borderless 4x6 print, already the LR preview indicates that there will be a white line on the bottom of the image. This is then confirmed when I print. Same for other print sizes. I set all margins to zero in LR, chose borderless in the printer driver... I tried to trick the software by creating a custom paper size, but so far, nothing helps.
Is this an LR flaw?? ( I am running LR 1.2)
    Thanks for your ideas.
    Anne

    Hi,
I finally got a workaround, if someone is interested: I wrote myself the following instruction now:
Avoiding white line on bottom of LR borderless prints:
    for 4x6 prints:
Page setup: choose 4x6 sheet feeder borderless
Create a custom paper size: 4.00x6.02 (6.01 does not work) with margin ON TOP of 0.01 in, save as "4x6 borderless"
In the printer driver menu choose "Paper Handling" from drop down menu. Click the Scale to fit paper size and choose the new custom size "4x6 borderless".
The expansion is set to maximum, but since this method worked, I have not tried to reduce the expansion in order to see what the effect is. (I have wasted already enough paper and ink)
The prints now don't have a line on the bottom anymore.
The white line on the bottom of the print preview in LR, however, is still visible.

  • Failure to print borderless on Epson Artisan 1430

When trying to print borderless the menu reverts to the smaller size. ie when selecting 5x7 it reverts to 4x6. Ditto 8x10 and 11x14 etc. The paper size stays the same, just the print size reverts and the desired size disappears. I contacted Epson twice and both times I was told it is a software issue, not the printer. The same thing happens in Lightroom, but in WEindows Gallery Live the printer works correctly which indicates the driver and printer are working correctly. I am using Windows 7 and had Elements 9, but Elements 10 came bundled with the printer so I upgraded to 10, no improvement.

Well, thanks! I have been using Elements since the very beginning and I have
never had to print from the Editor before. But that is the only thing I did
differently and it worked! Thanks again and Merry Christmas and Happy New
    Year!

  • Can't print borderless on custom size?

    Using Pixma MX455
I've bought a bunch of blank dvd insert paper, pre-cut (like these) and tried to print one for testing. So i've set the media type in the printer settings as 'glossy photo paper' and set the paper size to 'custom' with the right settings (7.25" x 10.75") but the moment i tick the 'borderless printing' option, the 'custom' option is removed from the paper size options and it reverts back to A4. this happens even when i use 'plain paper' as well.
Is there a way to override this restriction?
What can i do to print borderless on a custom size?

    Hi jeanpaul,
When printing from your iOS devce, the paper size is selected automatically according to the application software being used on the device.  When Apple's photo application software is used, the default paper size is 4x6.  If you want to print on another paper size such as letter size paper, you will need to use a program that has that paper size as a selectable option and print from that program to the printer.

  • How to print borderless

If I use my Canon easyprint utility to select a photo and ask it to print borderless on 4" x 6" photo paper, it does so effortlessly.
However If I select a photo in lightroom it always puts borders around the photo. Isnt there some simple setting to say print this thing on 4 x 6 borderless?
    Thanks
    David

    David,
Printing in LR is done through the Print module and is based on whatever template is loaded when you hit the print command button.  The default templates generally have borders on them but can be turned off.  I would create a user template called "My Borderless 4x6" and change all the options such that you get a truly borderless 4x6 image.  Then simply select that template every time you want to print that type of picture.
I have one for 5x7, 8x10, 8.5x11, etc. and use them regularly.
