Print customized report on client printer

I'm evaluating HTMLDB as an option to some MS Access applications we have in place and I have to add I'm a new user with no experience on HTMLDB.
One of my applications basically generate a report to be printed on pre-printed forms. For what I've read the reporting capabilities of HTMLDB are very limited, so I'm not sure how we can implement this type of reports with HTMLDB.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks

I'm evaluating HTMLDB as an option to some MS Access
applications we have in place and I have to add I'm a
new user with no experience on HTMLDB. HTML DB is a far superior development environment to MS Access. I did Access for quite a while and don't ever really want to look back. Although, I'm forced to sometimes. I think you'll really come to appreciate HTML DB pretty quickly.
One of my applications basically generate a report to
be printed on pre-printed forms. Printing to preprinted forms will get tricky. Basically, you're going to have to work with standard HTML constructs (generated by the Oracle server of course) to create your page output. I'm not saying it's impossible but it will be a significant challenge to line up your data output with preprinted forms. Especially given the variability of browsers.
Could be that someone has more experience with some other reporting (e.g. Oracle Reports) that could accomodate your need better than HTML DB page templates.
I'm sure everyone here would be interested to hear how your evaluation goes. Keep us posted. Good luck.

  • Report Viewer WebPart for Sharepoint - Printing (Unable to load client print control)

    Hi there,
    I am running a report via the report viewer web part on a SharePoint page.  The report itself is working great.  But when I attempt to print it, I get a prompt to install something....and then it is followed up with "Unable to load client
    print control".
    There are some posts out there about updating the a certain CU or to find the RSClientPrint cab and unloading the dlls into the system32 folder and registering it.  I've tried that but no go.
    Anyone else encounter this issue?  If so, potential solutions?
    SP 2010 - 14.0.7221.5000
    SQL Server 2008 R2 (Reporting Server)- 10.50.1617  (have tried updating to 10.50.6000.34)
    IE = 10.0.9200
    And yes, I am running as local admin....so there shouldn't be any issue installing the active x component on IE.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Eric,
    According to your description, you can't load the print button in your sharepoint site. Right?
    In Reporting Services, Each user who wants to use the print feature must download and install the ActiveX control that provides client print functionality. The first time a user clicks the
    Printer icon on the report toolbar, the Microsoft ActiveX control is downloaded to the computer. After the control is downloaded, the
    Print dialog box displays whenever the user clicks the Printer icon.
    So in this scenario, please enable the setting Download signed
    ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer and download it. Please follow the steps below:
    Click Tools -> Internet options.
    Switch to the Security tab, select the Trusted sites zone, and then click
    Sites.
    Type the URL of the SQL reporting server, click Add, and then click Close.
    Click the Custom level button, scroll to the ActiveX controls and plug-ins
    node.
    Click Enable for Download signed ActiveX controls, and then click OK.
    Then we need to have the
    EnableClientPrinting is set to true.
    In SharePoint Central Administration, click Application Management.
    Click Manage service applications.
    Click the name of your Reporting Services service application, and then click
    Manage in the SharePoint ribbon.
    Click System Settings.
    Select Enable Client Printing. The Enable Client Printing option is near the bottom of the page.
    Click OK.

  • Print report to client printer from forms

    Hi,
    I need to print a report directly to a client printer.
    There is a utility called ORARRP - Oracle Reports Remote Printing Utility.
    But the document I saw was from Oct 2001 - so is this still the only and best option ?
    I'm using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT in forms to launch the report.
    This works fine when the DESTYPE is FILE and DESNAME = PDF
    The PDF-outputt is then successfully shown with WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT
    When changing DESTYPE to PRINTER and DESNAME to clients printername then report won't run. "Report filed with error message TERMINATED_WITH_ ERROR".
    Is it possible to print directly to a client printer using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT ?
    (Our client printers are not networkprinters)
    Environment:
    Forms [32 Bit] version 9.0.4.0.19
    Report Builder 9.0.4.0.33
    Reportsserver on linux
    Thanks !
    Sam

    (Our client printers are not networkprinters)This means you cannot print from the server directly on the client printer with destype=printer, since the server cannot see the printer.
    So, a manual print command by the user from the browser or the orarrp utility are your options.

    NEED HELP !!
    Regards,

    The printer has to be known on the server where the Reports service runs.
    Also, the user who runs the Reports service has to have access to that printer. If you are running on Windows, Reports Service runs as Local system by default. Change that to a real (domain) user, who has access to the printer.

  • Printing Report on client printer

    Hi,
    I am using oracle 9ids ( Oracle9i Developer Suite 9.0.2.0.1 ).
    I have an application which call a report from a form module.
    I run the application from another machine and that machine has a local printer installed on that machine.
    when I give destype=printer in the parameter form and submit, it will not print the report.
    What I have to do to print the reports.
    Please let me know the solutions for this ASAP.
    Regards,
    Malay

    The simplest way is to have your report output to pdf and then they can print the pdf. If you are trying to print directly to the printer without showing the report on the screen at all, then what we have done is make the local printer available from the network and then send the output of the report to the network name for the printer.
    The problem is that the report is running on the reports server, not the local machine. The reports server doesn't know anything about the local printer of the client. To be able to print a report directly, the reports server has to be able to "see" the printer.

    Currently I am doing following, (it works fine) i want some better way.
    1. call report with run_report_object from forms.
    2. copy output file from reports server to forms server using COPY_REPORT_OBJECT_OUTPUT.
    3. using webutil transfer output file to client machine

    You could use Reports Remote Printing Utility (orarrp). At the following link you can get more information.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/reports/index.html#orarrp
    It requires client install and is no supported by Oracle however

  • Unable print scheduled report on network printer using BOEXI 3.0

    Hi,
    I'm unable to print a scheduled report on network printer using BOE XI 3.0. I get the following error
    Error Message: Error in File ~ce6a054be1a25b52.rpt: Request cancelled by the user. ]
    Has anyone encountered this kind of problem and know what the solution is?
    Thanks,

    Hey Falk,
    Thanks for the response.
    I can print on a network printer after I changed 'Crystal Reports Job Server' to run under a user account that has privileges to access the printer.
    To answer your questions regarding the problem:
    >Can you schedule the report successfully ?
    >>Yes I was able to schedule the report successfully
    >Can you print the report successfully?
    >>NO the scheduled task would fail with the error message as posted above.
    Thanks,

  • How to printing oracle report by specific printer name  on solaris?

    When running reports
    -http://host/reports/rwservlet?destype=PRINTER&desname=printername&desformat=dflt.prt&report=test.rdf&userid=test/test@TEST&MODE=CHARACTER
    report with destype=printer desname=printername, the report fails with REP-50159 Executed successfully but there were some errors when distribute the output
    if set default printer by add PRINTER=printername export PRINTER; in uiprint.txt
    it can print to printer.
    i found document id 394554.1 in metalink but it can't fix problem.
    https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/f?p=130:14:342229662272785964::::p14_database_id,p14_docid,p14_show_header,p14_show_help,p14_black_frame,p14_font:NOT,394554.1,1,1,1,helvetica
    To fix the problem, execute the following steps:
    1. Take a backup of opmn.xml
    2. Edit opmn.xml and include the path information of the new printer:
    For In-process report server add the path information within <OC4J_BI_Forms>
    Eg:
    <process-type id="OC4J_BI_Forms" module-id="OC4J">
    <environment>
    <variable id="DISPLAY" value="localhost:0"/>
    <variable id="LD_LIBRARY_PATH"
    value="D:\Oracle\product\FRHome_1\lib32:D:\Oracle\product\FRHome_1\lib"/>
    <variable id="PATH" value="//printserver;D:/Oracle/product/FRHome_1/bin;................./>
    </environment>
    Here //printserver is the network drive where is printer is installed.
    For standalone report server add the path information within <reportservername>
    Eg:
    <ias-component id="standalonerepsvr01" status="enabled" id-matching="false">
    <process-type id="ReportsServer" module-id="ReportsServices">
    <process-set id="standalonerepsvr01" restart-on-death="true" numprocs="1">
    <environment>
    <variable id="DISPLAY" value="localhost:0"/>
    <variable id="LD_LIBRARY_PATH"
    value="D:\Oracle\product\FRHome_1\lib32:D:\Oracle\product\FRHome_1\lib"/>
    <variable id="PATH" value="//printserver;D:/Oracle/product/FRHome_1/bin;........../>
    </environment>
    3. Reload opmn : opmnctl reload
    4. Restart opmn: opmnctl stopall , opmnctl startall
    5. Run the report with destype=printer and desname=newprintername
    my config (solaris)
    oracle application server release 2 (10.1.2.0.2)
    i used axis printserver name is SZ_R02.
    <process-type id="OC4J_BI_Forms" module-id="OC4J">
    <environment>
    <variable id="DISPLAY" value="localhost:0"/>
    <variable id="LD_LIBRARY_PATH_64" value="/data/app/mid/lib:/data/app/mid/network/lib32:/data/app/mid/lib32:/data/app/mid/lib:/data/app/mid/network/lib::/data/app/mid/jdk/jre/lib/sparcv9"/>
    <variable id="LD_LIBRARY_PATH" value="/data/app/mid/lib32:/data/app/mid/lib:/data/app/mid/network/lib32:/data/app/mid/lib32:/data/app/mid/lib:/data/app/mid/network/lib::/data/app/mid/jdk/jre/lib/sparc"/>
                        <variable id="PATH" value="/SZ_R02:/data/app/mid/lib32:/data/app/mid/lib:/data/app/mid/network/lib32:/data/app/mid/lib32:/data/app/mid/lib:/data/app/mid/network/lib::/data/app/mid/jdk/jre/lib/sparc"/>

    How to Solution?

  • Is the print server over-writing client printing preferences with defaults?

    I'm testing a new 2012 R2 print server, and have set the printing defaults by clicking on the printer in Print Management and 'set defaults'.  I used this to set things like double-sided printing etc.
    When the printers are added to the test client workstations (manually, not by group policy), we then have to add in some details in printing preferences to authenticate that client to the printer.  A valid access code, and print mailbox that tally with
    the same settings on the printer.  It's tedious, but that's what our current printers demand.
    What's happening with the new 2012 R2 print server in testing is that it seems to be overwriting these authentication preferences and returning all the printing preferences to the defaults set on the print server.
    It's likely that this is a feature or setting that I'm just not aware of, could anyone tell me please how to set those printing preferences as 'first time' preferences that can then be edited on the workstation, and persist?

    Would you know of any resource where I could learn all the ins and out of printer management in 2012? A blog/a book/MVA course?
    I assume you are using the General tab of the printer properties , then clicking Preferences to set the
    Users defaults with the device specific data.
    There are two ways to open up the Printing Preferences dialogue for shared printers that I'm aware of.
     Open the Print Management console, open the print server, and printers.  (1) Right Click on the printer and Set Printing Default or (2) Right Click on the printer, Properties, then from General Tab click Preferences.
    Do changes made via both of those routes have the same affect regarding default settings that are given to the client or is there a difference between them?
    I have been using method (1) above, but if there's any difference I'd be interested to know.
    When it comes to adding the printers to the clients, there are also two options.  (A) Control Panel, Printers, Add Printer, and add from directory.  (B) In Windows Explorer, browse to the print server and double click the printer name to connect
    it.
    Is there any difference between those two routes?  I had been using method (B), and then editing the preferences... when then seemed to be overwritten by the server defaults.  Yesterday I used method (A) and so far the printing preferences for
    the test clients have not yet been overwritten.

  • Printing to remote desktop client printer

    We have a remote office connecting to a terminal server at head office. The remote office has a network printer. How can we configure the terminal connection to enable printing to the remote network printer at the remote office?

    There are two ways
    1. Site to site vpn (IPSEC) between two sites. And add the printer directly to Terminal Server
    or,
    2. Enable RDP printer on it.  (See below)
