Print dialog does not show DINA4 anymore?

Hey,
after upgrading to Lion, i can't print DINA4 (e.g. PDFs through Preview) anymore,
the only option in the dialog is US-Letter...
do I have to add a special language pack? is the printing driver (SAMSUNG CLP-315)
not ready for Lion yet?

When the print dialog opens (e.g. in preview) it chooses the default printer and only gives US-Letter as option.
When I then choose the other printer from the pulldown menu, I can choose from lots of different
paper formats...switching now back to the default printer I can choose A4...
This is reproducable: whenever I open up a new printing dialog with the CUPS network printer as default printer
I only have US-Letter in the menu...

I have the same setup and since my update to Lion I experience the problem you describe. The print dialog only offers "US letter" in the "Paper Size" drop down.
I also use the same work around as you to set the paper size to A4. I select a local printer to get a long list of different paper sizes to choose from. When I switch back to a printer connected to a CUPS printer server, the list is kept. This allows me to select A4. However, it also allows me to select paper sizes not provided by the currently selected printer.
This is no satisfying solution

File Save Dialog does not show web folders

Hi.
My system is SAP ECC 6.0. From custom abap program, I need to be able to navigate to a sharepoint folder and save a file to it. I call METHOD cl_gui_frontend_services=>file_save_dialog for this. I have already mapped/added the SharePoint site (ex. http://abc/xyz/) to My Network Places. However, when I run my program, the File Save Dialog does not show the web folders in the said sharepoint site. Any clue to what I'm missing here? In WiinExplorer, I have no issue navigating/accessing the web folders.

Should not need the project manager simply to see new files added to a directory in a Open/Save dialog window since last opening the app.
I did a scan, a extended scan, opened all the little turn down arrows of the
full path to the directory I knew there to be the new files and yes, Logic
shows them there in the "Project manager".
BUT Logic still does not show the files in the Open/Save dialog windows.
This is strange because even simple app like TextEdit can show
new files in it's Open/Save dialog function windows without the need of
a project manager.
I have to quit and re-launch each time to see any new files?

Photoshop Open dialog does not show all files

I've been noticing that unconsitantly the Photoshop Open dialog does not show all PSD files in a folder, some are just plain missing. In Finder they show up like normal though. Anyone else with this problem?

The open and save dialogs are provided and mostly run by the OS, not the application.
It sounds like you might have a filter set on your open dialog (like the search option).

InDesign CS5 - Print Dialog does not load (windows).

I just installed InDesign CS5 and when I go to print a document, the print dialog does not come up. I only get an hourglass cursor. When I try to export to a PDF the resulting PDF is 0kb and obviously corrupt.
What do I do to fix this?

Don't have a clue about the print dialog, but you may be unaware that PDF export is now a background task and you may be trying to open the PDF before it's finished. To check the progress go to Window > Utilities > Background Tasks.
There are some reports of the background task stalling in certain cases. This is a bug, Adobe is aware of it, and a solution is in the works, but no definite inopfrmation on a release date for the fix is available. If you search the forum you'll find a couple of threads discussing it, including a link to a script to do the export inthe foreground if necessary.
For the print problem, you can try Replace Your Preferences, but I'm not hightly optimisitic that this is a prefs issue. It would help if you told us about the OS and your printer, and what language you installed. Have you updated to 7.0.2?

Configure XQuery Transformation dialog does not show mfl file

I have created a valid mfl file. I would like to use this file as an input type.
I have copied the file into the schema directory, however the Configure XQuery
Transformation dialog does not show the file.

Might be corrupted Finder preferences.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.finder.plist file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac.

Open/Save Dialog does not show new files?

Say you are working on a logic file in a folder and you have
a few audio and movie files in that folder, and you launch
Logic and via the open/save dialog window you add a few
files to your song and in that dialog window you can see
all the files in that folder.
Then, in the Finder you add a few more files and movies to
that folder and again use the open/save dialog window to
add more files BUT the new files you added since launching
logic are NOT SHOWN in the dialog window ! ?
What's the deal with that?
Every other app can show files added since the launch of the
application, why not Logic?

Print Dialog does NOT reset to defaults

ON my iMac in OSX 10.9.4, when you go to print the previous settings for number of copies to print are retained instead of resetting to 1. Therefore, if people are not watching this, extra copies get printed until you realize what is going on. Is there a way to reset the defaults and make them stick.

Yes, I discovered that somehow a preference got corrupt and by deleting apple.print prefs in the User Library, I was able to get the Print dialog to NOT stick on settings. Thanks for that tip

Print Dialogue does not show print quality options on MacBook

I am trying to print wirelessly from my Macbook Pro to a HP 5500 connected to G5. I can print no problems, but I can't control the print quality as this option does not appear in the print dialogue box.
When I print the same page from my G4 powerbook I get print quality options in the dialogue. Both laptops are running 10.4.8 and connecting wirelessly by an airport network. The printer is plugged in the G5 not an airport express.

As Scapesuiter has mentioned, it would be best to check the HP web site to see if there is a Universal driver for your printer. These are drivers that have been written to work on the new Intel Mac's and on the previous Power PC (PPC) Mac's.
If there isn't a Universal driver, you can still use the older PPC driver, however you will experience problems like you are getting when printing from a Universal application via a PPC driver. Usually you see a line through the option that is not available, but I guess another symptom could be that the option is not viewable. Anyway, for some Universal applications, you can choose to open them using the Rosetta emulator. With the application closed, select its icon in the Finder and do a Get Info (Cmd - I). In the window that appears there may be the option "Open using Rosetta". If there is, select this option, close the window and open the application. Now try to print and see if the option is present.

Print dialog is not showing the correct Print Preview document, image, or artboard sizes; printer is printing incorrectly

This is what the Print Dialog looks like. The print preview is too small. The final printed images are coming out all wrong.
This is happening for ALL DRIVERS (5 different printers) and 2 different USERS in our company.
It doesn't matter if you change the Media Size or any of the other settings here in the "Print" dialog, the "Page Setup..." dialog, the printer's own "Setup..." settings, etc... it's like Illustrator is using the wrong Artboard size. And why is there so much dark gray area around the page in the Print Preview? It looks really messed up.
We need this fixed immediately. This is a crazy bad bug... we can't print!

Cancel Query dialog does not show for long queries

Hi,
I've set the interaction mode of my form to non-blocking. I then ran a long query which takes about 5 minutes to display the results. The Cancel Query popup that everyone is talking about is still not showing.
What should my settings be to make the Cancel Query dialog popup? My client wants to have the option to cancel a query while it is still processing.
I'm using Oracle Forms 9.0.4.0.10 and Oracle Database 10g.
Any help with regards to this will be highly appreciated.

My A510 camera does not come up on my computer so I can save and print.

I assume you're using Windows? Is it XP, 7? 8?
Here's previous advice given by Richard, a Canon product export, that might apply:
This sounds like the driver for your camera is corrupted. You should be able to resolve this by removing, then reinstalling the driver.
With your camera connected and turned on in the playback mode:
1- Right-Click on "Computer" (in the menu) and choose "Properties".
2- In the upper left-hand corner, click on the "Device Manager" link.
3- Once in Device Manager, find the "Portable Devices" group and click on the "+" sign in front of it.
4- If you see your PowerShot camera listed, right-click on it and choose "Uninstall" and allow the "uninstall" to proceed.
5- Now turn the camera off. Wait a few seconds and then turn your camera on.

[SOLVED] KDE 4.5: Device Notifier does not show CDs anymore

During one of the last updates KDE's Device Notifier lost the ability to display CDs I put into my CD drives. USB sticks do show up correctly. DBUS and HAL are running, the device Manager is configured to show up all removable medias. I can manually mount the CDs by using the mount command. Also if I connect the drive to my virtualbox XP installation they autoplay correctly. So this is no hardware failure.
I just want to put a CD in and the device manager should pop up and inform me of the actions that are possible. KDE 4.4 did this, KDE 4.5 does not. I am using the testing repo and my system is up-to-date.
Any advice?

You're absolutely right. Hal was the culprit. Under /etc/hal/fdi/information/ there were two files "media-check-disable-storage_model_<my CDs model name>" and both of them had a line:
<merge key="storage.media_check_enabled" type="bool">false</merge>
Setting them to
<merge key="storage.media_check_enabled" type="bool">true</merge>
reenabled the notification of KDE's device Notifier.
As users always say: I never changed this

Mail does not show images anymore server stopped responding on my iPad 2 when attempting to browse web

Over the last couple of days my ipad 2 has started to play up. First the mail would not show images in mail then when trying to browse the web it now will not open any pages. I have attempted a wipe & reload but still no difference.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
