Print dialog items disappear
This has been happening a lot more frequently, but everytime I print with either Preview, Safari, or Mail, a lot of the buttons, check boxes, pop-up menus, etc. completely disappear in the print dialog boxes. A couple of items might show up (i.e. a pop-up menu for the printer), and if I choose something in the menu, a few more items might appear in the rest of the dialog box.
Any ideas?
I using 10.4.5.

Problem:
When invoking the Oracle 'print' built-in and clicking on the 'ok' button on the print dialog box, the application browser is moved behind all other windows currently displayed on the desktop. Has anyone encountered this issue and if so, how did you solve it? (We use the 'print' built-in on every form to allow the user to do a screen print of the form).

Print dialog options in case sensitive file system
Since changing the file system running Lion and Mountain Lion from Mac OS Extended (Journaled) to Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled), certain features in print dialogs have disappeared.
Particularly the option to print notes with slides in Microsoft Powerpoint are gone. Also, when choosing to print only 1 (or more, but not all) of multiple pages in Microsoft Word, the printer will nevertheless print all pages.
This problem occurs on printers of different brands, i.e. HP, Lexmark, Brother.
I was able to determine this problem by reproducing the issue on a cleanly installed Macbook Pro with OS X 10.8 formatted as Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled) vs a cleanly installed Macbook Pro with OS X 10.8 formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), not Case-sensitive.
Has anyone else had the same problem and maybe a solution?I just fixed this on my Mac. It is a bug in Microsoft Office... the Printer Dialog Extension (PDE) for Powerpoint is located in a directory named "Plugins", but PowerPoint is looking for it in "PlugIns". This obviously does not work in a case-sensitive filesystem.

6.1 Print Templates - auto select items in the print dialog popup
In the slide deck I have about 6.1 it says the following:
•Print Templates
–Print templates can now be used to auto select items in the
print dialog popup. By default, the out of the box template
selects the current specification
Unfortunately I haven't been able to find how to do this in the EP documentation. Could someone point me in the right direction on how to do this?Download Extensibility Pack 2.6. It was just released. Take a look at page 11 in the Print Extensibility Guide. It should have the info you need. If not let me know.

Page number and page range have disappeared from print dialog
Hello, suddenly in Firefox the print dialog is odd. There are no longer options on the main box for page range and # of pages to print, and many of the other options in the pull down are just blank. This happens with more than one printer, and NOT with those printers in Acrobat, Word etc. so I'm pretty sure it's Firefox. I am in Mac 10.6.8 with the latest Firefox 18.0.1. Thank you.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

"Quality and Media" not displaying in Print dialog.
I am using Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard on a Macbook Pro with a Canon MB5220 Multifunction printer over WiFi. I have installed the Canon Drivers and can print to the printer but the "Quality and Media" menu choice does not display in the print dialog so I can't set any of the quality settings or the color settings for the printer.
I installed and re-installed the drivers. Tried with several applications such as TextEdit and preview. Only menu choices are Layout, Color Matching, Paper Handling, Cover Page, Scheduler.
Is there anything that would keep Quality and Media from dispaying?It's not just the Quality & Media menu that appears to be missing. There are three other Canon menus you should see like below;
These menu items are supported by the plugins bundle installed in /Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter/PDEs, which supports a number of Canon inkjet printers. Since reinstalling the driver for the MG5220 has not helped then I would try a reset of the printing system and then adding the printer again. To reset the printing system, open Print & Fax, move the mouse over the Printers list and Control-click. The reset popup will appear. Select it and authenticate if prompted and then restart the Mac. Please note that this action will remove all printer and scanner queues from Print & Fax, but not the associated drivers so just the queues will need to be added again.
If this action does not resolve the problem then try running the Canon Driver Update v2.6. -
After automatically updating to 32.0.3 last Thursday and this Monday on all our Staff and Patron computers both Win7 pro and XP pro we have seen Firefox sessions that will not bring up the Print Dialog. The Print Preview dialog will come up but no print button or print menu item will bring up the Print Dialog. After you close Firefox and reopen it the Print Dialog box will work again for some time. The websites that Patron and Staff use during a session are different and done seem to be the cause. The Firefox settings are at fault because a simply restart of just Firefox fixes the issue and no other web browsers or application has any problem with displaying the Print Dialog at any time. Again this began on all the computers as soon as 32.0.3 was installed automatically over night.

Thank you for your question, I understand that there are multiple computers that no longer have a working print dialogue after a while of using Firefox. However after a restart, the print dialogue continues to act normally.
Does resetting the printing settings on the affected computers only temporarily change this as well?[[Fix printing problems in Firefox]]

The print icon in the page has a opened a printable view and then the print dialoge comes up. When I switched to another program, that icon did not open the preview.
Do you notice any about:config entries that change when you see this start to happen? -
How to suppress print dialog box from popping up under a condition

There may be a better way to accomplish what I'm trying to do, so I'm open to outside-the-box suggestions.
I have a pretty simple page which lists a set of statuses and descriptions of each. The user can edit these status flags and their descriptions on the page as well. When I view the page in "printer friendly" mode, I see a nice simple report of what the statuses are and their descriptions. Everything works great so far.
In our work request system built in ApEx, there's a page where someone can view the details of a work request, including the current status. When someone clicks on the help of that item, what I'd love to do is simple show the "printer friendly" version the status page mentioned above in a pop up window. My problem is that the print dialog box automatically shows up when a page is displayed in "printer friendly" mode and I do not want this to happen in this case.
I see the javascript code in the Printer Friendly page template which causes the print dialog box to show up automatically, but I don't want to remove it in the template just for this one case. This would suppress the print dialog box on all "printer friendly" page views and the users are used to it showing up when they ask to print the page.
I guess I could create a custom request to pass to the master status page which would pretty much do everything that the "printer friendly" mode is doing, but that seems like a lot of work when I'm so close to using something that is built in.
Am I not seeing some simple other way of doing it or perhaps asking too much? Any suggestions?

I think you have to call the FM GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS and pass NO_DIALOG = 'X'.

Photoshop CS5 crashes when selecting print settings in print dialog box
I work on a Mac Pro desktop with OS 10.6.4. Photoshop CS5 crashes every time I try to select "print settings" in the print dialog box. I work in a large office and our networked color printer is a Konica Minolta bizhub C451. In fact, if I hit "print" it will crash whether or not I hit "print settings" first. In CS4, there was a separate menu item that allowed you to change printer settings before going into the print dialog box. That choice is gone now, you have to select it through the print dialog box.
This is the only way I can print out color proofs for my clients. Unfortunately, I do not have administrator rights to any printer (our office has about 100 people, only IT staff can fiddle with that). What can I do to get this solved?I think I have fixed it, though I'm not sure why this worked.
System Preferences>Print & Fax. Selected the Konica Minolta printer (the B/W printer was working fine). Changed the name. Still didn't fix it. Went back selected my newly named Konica Minolta then "Open Print Queue" (like Dave said)>print settings. Change the driver to "Generic Postscript printer." I could print, but only on letter-size paper, no other options available (need tabloid). Went back to system preferences>print & fax>Konica Minolta2>open print queue>drivers then I reselected the updated printer drivers--the same one that hasn't been working.
Now, it works.

I am a creative director in the screen print (garment industry) for over 20 years. We have always used PS to directly print and control our halftone screens and angles through the screen function in the print dialog box. Now it has miraculously disappeared after so many versions previous.
I emplore Adobe and their team to please update this function back into CS5.
Although it is a function many might not even understand how to use, it is IMPERATIVE to the screen printer/artist in this industry.
There are workarounds, of course, but they are much more tedious and time consuming.
I truly cannot convince enough that we folks in this industry want this function back!!!!!You might want to also post in these Fora:

The ability to output halftones (separations) and set screen angles, etc., from the CS5 print dialog
I output films from photoshop that are used to expose silkscreens. often, i output halftones and up until CS5 i've done this from the print dialog where i can also set my screen angles and dot shapes, press print and off it goes to my printer. It has been suggested to me in the photoshop macintosh forum that i might simply build a script to convert the individual channels to bitmaps at the printer resolution, angle, shape and then print that. unfortunately, this method results in less accurate screens and fails to take advantage of what my postscript printer can do. this is the only reason i have a postscript capable printer. i used this workaround method before i bought the postcript printer and the results just weren't very good.
my workaround is to keep CS3 installed and print from that. this is a hassle and less than optimal. i was quite surprised to find that this "feature" which has been available in photoshop for many years suddently disappeared. please give some thought to bringing it back. i expect that i'm not the only shop that's going to miss it.

very useful when printing separations for t-shirts so I feel for ya. I
noticed it's still in CS4 if that helps. Also, you may try
experimenting with the following filters:
RGB FILES:
Filter > Sketch > Halftone Pattern
RGB or CMYK FILES:
Filter > Pixelate > Color Halftone
GRAYSCALE FILES:
Image > Mode > Bitmap > Method > Halftone Screen
Also, InDesign allows you to print custom screen angles and line
rulings but not dot shape.

Epson 3880 cannot change paper types in Acrobat Print dialog
I use Adobe Acrobat as a RIP to print from on my Epson 3880. It looks like I might have to reconstruct all my printer presets since they've disappeared after the upgrade(?) to Yosemite 10.10.3. However the print dialog in Acrobat Pro X no longer allows me to create presets with different paper types. At least I haven't found it anywhere. Is this something that can be worked around or is this an "enhancement" to the new OS?
Should I just give up and go back to Snow Leopard?Thanks a lot. Although i find it strange that every application sets this up individually. However, I did this in all Applications that I use for printing, now it works just fine.

Print Preview is missing from Firefox 6 on Mac OSX Lion in both File Menu and Print Dialog Box
The question says it all really. Print Preview option is missing from both the File menu and from the Print dialog box when you select Print. I use Print Preview a lot to avoid wasting paper.
A relevant issue might be that the Mac OSX app Preview is currently having trouble with various printers including my Xerox and so, temporarily, the default application for all Preview items is now Adobe Reader until Apple get their act together. Perhaps this is affecting things?

Suppressing smartforms Print dialog box

I want to suppress Print Dialog Box in smartform and directly go to print preview. I have set the CONTROL_PARAMETERS ,NO_DIALOG to 'X' and PREVIEW 'X' but still print dialog box is not suppressed. i even set OUTPUT_OPTIONS-TDDEST but it disappear and each time it display the print dialog with output device(TDDEST) field empty.

Problem with PJC (Print Dialog) - Forms 10g
I have a problem with my PJC for Forms 10g r2. When I try to connect and run my PJC (raise Print dialog and put printer name in some text item) I get following message:

I resolve one part of my problem. Tt was about diferent compiler (in JDeveloper 10.1.3 compiler is 1.5 and in my oc4j server JRE is earlier version, so it can`t work normaly).
I comiled PJC in 1.4 version of compiler and now I can start and run my PJC.
But, there is another problem:
