Print filter pipeline host error

Having installed an HP 1510 All-in-One printer on a pc running Windows XP SP3 I have been unable to print anything as every attempt produces the following error message:
Print filter pipeline host has encountered a problem and needs to close.
As such the printer is unusable. I have since tried to install the printer on someone else's pc which also has XP SP3 running and got the exact same error.
Is this printer REALLY compatible with XP SP3 as it doesn't look like it.

Hello again EdwardTrunk,
I would like to apologize for the confusion on the driver issue.
I have located a "HP Deskjet 1510 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers" for this product.
Please make sure that you disconnect the usb cable from the printer and from the computer and leave it off.
Uninstall any software for this printer that you have already attempted to install.  Once it has been removed, reboot the computer.
When the computer is back on, please click on the above link and download the Full Feature driver to the Desktop of your computer so that it creates it's own Icon.
When the download is complete, double click the icon and follow the instruction.
Please DO NOT connect the USB cable.  The installation will Prompt you when to connect the USB cable.
Once again I do apologize for the confusion and the inconvenience.
If you require any additional assistance, please feel free to write me back and I will be more than happy to help.
Thank you once again for your time.

  • Print Filter Pipeline Host stopped working and was closed

I recently bought an HP Envy 5532 printer, which works OK when I print from my PC (Word documents for example), but deletes document and shows the above error message when I try to print from the Internet.  I have tried the HP Print & Scan Doctor to fix problem and when I run a test page all is OK, but as soon as I try to print from the web the same problems happens again.
I have downloaded new drivers and software but nothing works.
I tried to use an earlier post to fix things (had the same description as my problems and related to an HP printer) but when I went to select New Driver in the Printer Advance settings in Properties, it was greyed out.
Anyone out there who can help me?

Hello Luisea, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing print issues.  I would love to try and help you, but I do need a little information first. I am linking a few HP Support documents below that will show you how to find which operating system you are using. Also, if you're using Windows, please include whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit. With this information we can provide you with accurate information.
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Also, have you tried printing from multiple browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome?
Please let me know what you find.  Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
Please click “Accept as Solution " if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

  • Canon MF4400w Printer - "Filter" failed error. Can't scan either.

    Hi,
I work in a wholly Mac environment. We have around 10 plus Macs in the office, most of them running 10.8.3 (the latest I believe). All Macs are able to print to our Canon MF4400w Printer fine EXCEPT mine.
I've had a Canon technician come by. We've installed/reinstalled the canon drivers multiple times, tried via USB/Wireless, and I personally looked up these forums to try and diagnose the problem myself. As far as I can tell, it has something to do with "capdftopdl", whatever that is.
This is a new iMac that was purchase a few weeks ago. I've used migration assistant to transfer my files from my old Mac to this new one via LAN cable. Printing from this Mac has always resulted in the "Stopped. "Filter" failed." error. It has never printed successfully despite trying multiple different drivers.

    1) Some threads suggest that it may be a corrupted Font problem. Followed steps suggested by thread, no luck.
    2) Some suggested it was a setting under network. Followed those steps, still same problem.
    3) Setting paper print size to A4/Letter
    Please help!

Can you reply with your email address, but in the form of user_name at domain_name dot com (dot country if applicable). I have some files to send you to replace the Canon files that are possibly causing the error.
Also, for your reference, you posted in the Lion forum but you have Mtn Lion. If you posted in the Mtn Lion forum I would have got to you sooner.

Check with the printer maker to see whether the software has been, or will be, updated. If not, you need a new printer.

HP Photosmart Premium Fax All in One - C410a
I was only able to print one page and then both my printer and my computer would display an error message about the printer's inability to print.  Since then I've been able to resolve my specific problem.
    I
    1. uninstalled HP from my computer (checked to ensure that my printer was no longer visible in my printers and the HP Utility software was nowhere to be found),
    2. grabbed the software/driver update from Aug, 2010,
    3. installed the Aug, 2010 update, and my problems seem to have been fixed.
This is where I got my 2010 update from (obviously you should get the driver/software applicable to your OS and specific printer):

  • HP PSC1610 won't print from internet. Error message says connect computer.

When trying to print from the internet my printer start to accept the paper, but then spits it out with nothing on it.   I looked at the help menu and an ERROR message said  "no connection; connect computer or install device software.  This has never happened in the past until I installed new ink cartridges.   I unplugged and disconnected the printer then reconnected, etc.  Same problem.  Then I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer.  Installation successful, showed connection to computer, but failed to print document.  The error message is the same.    Help!   Thanks Xara
    I

Actually this is an addendum to the above.  the computer used to send the command to the printer uses Windows XP.  When the command is sent the printer goes into warm up mode for 2-3 seconds and I hear the parts moving before it spits the blank paper out and aborts. The printer queue is empty on my XP as if the job was finished.  Thanks  Xara

Printer will not work: error code 0xc19a0022

    Hello citizenED,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are getting the error code " 0xc19a0022 " .
I do have a few steps that we can try.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I have also located a document that deals with a 'Problem with Printhead,' 'Printer Failure,' 'Ink System Failure,' or a '0x...' or a 'C2...' Error ...
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
    Thanks for your time.
    Cheers,

  • "Unauthorized Host" error when you try to connect to the admin server

"Unauthorized Host" error when you try to connect to the admin server
    <p>
If you see this error message when you try to connect to a Netscape
    administration server:<P>
    Internal Error
The administration server was unable to fulfill your request.
    Reason: Unauthorized host
    --------------------------<P>
Here is how to solve the problem and gain access. First you should
temporarily open access to all sites, and then once you make sure that
this lets you get into your administration server, try again to set up
the domain name or IP address access restrictions you want.<P>
For all 2.x/3.x Netscape servers on Windows NT and Unix, or for Commerce and
    Communications servers (1.x) on Unix:<P>
    <OL>
<LI>Open the "ns-admin.conf" file with a text editor. You can
find this file in the "admserv" directory under your Netscape
server root. The directory is named "admin-serv" in 3.x servers.<P>
<LI>Delete the "Hosts" and "Addresses" lines you see there (either one
of them might not be present). Don't confuse the "Addresses" line,
which you should delete, with the "Address" line, which you should NOT
    delete.<P>
<LI>Save the file, then restart your administration server (on Unix run
"stop-admin" then "start-admin"; on Windows NT go into the Services
control panel and stop/start the "Netscape Admin Server" service).<P>
    </OL><P>
For Commerce Server or Communications Server (1.x) on Windows NT:<P>
    <OL>
<LI>Go into the registry editor. On Windows NT 4.0, run the command
"regedit". On Windows 3.51, run the command
    "regedt32".<P>
    <LI>Navigate down to the section
    "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Netscape\Administration".<P>
<LI>Delete the "Hosts" and "Addresses" entries you see there (either one
of them might not be present). Don't confuse the "Addresses" entry,
which you should delete, with the "Address" entry, which you should NOT
    delete.<P>
<LI>Close the registry editor, then restart your administration server
by going into the Services control panel and stopping then starting the
    "Netscape Administration" service.<P>
    </OL>
Now try again to access your administration server. Remember, the URL
will be something like "http://servername:12345/", where
"12345" is where the administration server's port number goes.<P>
If you still get the same "Unauthorized host" error, then make sure that
your "ns-admin.conf" file really doesn't contain any "Hosts" or
"Addresses" lines any more, and try stopping your administration server
again then starting it back up.<P>
Once you have access to your administration server, you can try again to
set up the access controls you want.<P>
    <UL>
<LI>For the administration server on a 3.x server installation, select
"Admin Preferences" from the General Administration page (the first page
you see when you connect to the admin server), then click on "Superuser Access
Control" and enter hostname and IP address restrictions. If you want
allow access to multiple clients, you'll have to use wildcard patterns
(separate the subsrings with a pipe character, like
"(host1|host2|host3)"); the substrings must be enclosed in parentheses, as shown.
If you're setting up hostname restrictions, you'll need to make sure that
your DNS can resolve those hostnames -- it's generally safer to stick
with IP address restrictions. When you're finished configuring this,
click "OK" then restart your admin server.<P>
<LI>For the administration server on a 2.x server installation, select
"Configure Administration" from the Server Selector page (the first page
you see when you connect to the admin server), then click on "Access
Control" and enter hostname and IP address restrictions. If you want

    Reason: Unauthorized host

Here is how to solve the problem and gain access. First you should
temporarily open access to all sites, and then once you make sure that
this lets you get into your administration server, try again to set up
the domain name or IP address access restrictions you want.<P>
For all 2.x/3.x Netscape servers on Windows NT and Unix, or for Commerce and
    Communications servers (1.x) on Unix:<P>
    <OL>
<LI>Open the "ns-admin.conf" file with a text editor. You can

<LI>Delete the "Hosts" and "Addresses" lines you see there (either one

    <OL>
<LI>Go into the registry editor. On Windows NT 4.0, run the command

    "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Netscape\Administration".<P>

of them might not be present). Don't confuse the "Addresses" entry,
which you should delete, with the "Address" entry, which you should NOT

<LI>Close the registry editor, then restart your administration server
by going into the Services control panel and stopping then starting the
    "Netscape Administration" service.<P>
    </OL>

  • Office Pro 8000: Can't Print/Out of Ink Error even after installing new cartridge.

When I tried to use my printer a few days ago, I received a "Can't Print: Out of Ink" error message concerning the magenta cartridge.  I had used the printer a few days before that, and had not received a low ink warning.  It seemed suspicious to me that I would have received an empty cartridge error message without first receiving a low cartridge warning.  The yellow and cyan cartridges read 70% full - all 3 were original cartridges.
I purchased a new 940XL magenta cartridge and installed it per instructions.  Now I am getting a message that the new 940XL cartridge is empty.  I can shake the old 940 cartridge and hear liquid inside.  Obviously, the new cartridge is also full.  I've tried cycling power, reinstalling the software, etc, with no change in status.  If I swap back and forth between the old 940 and new 940XL cartridge, they are properly identified by type on my screen as the 940 or 940XL.  Due to the way the problem has presented itself, I don't believe it is a cartridge issue.
Of course, problem first arouse on May 8th, and my warrantee expired April 26th.  Any suggestions?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I've solved my own problem, which was clearly a factory assembly defect.  I looked inside my printer with a flashlight in the area where the ink cartridges are installed, and found magenta ink sprayed inside the printer.  I disassembled the printer, and found that the magenta line had been damaged during assembly.  There are four ink tubes which exit from behind the ink cartridges, then make a U turn back toward the front of the printer.  Just after the U turn, they make another bend up-wards.  It is at this point that I found the damaged magenta line, directly above a screw on the right-hand side of the ink cartridge housing.  The lines are in a very narrow passage, and are held in place by several keepers molded out of plastic.  It appears that the lines were put in place in the keepers, then the screw inserted from above.  As I said, it is a very tight passage, and it would be very easy to damage the ink line at that point if the lines weren't carefully held back to insert the screw during assembly.
To solve the problem, I removed approximately 1/4 inch of damaged magenta ink line.  I carefully cut the line with a sharp razor, to prevent collapsing the line or causing burrs to the tubing.  I then placed about 3/4" of self-sealing heat shrink tubing over one end of the ink line.  Next I spliced the line with a small piece of stiff plastic tubing from the handle of a cotton swab, which was a perfect, snug fit over the ink line.  Being careful not to collapse the ink tube or cause further damage, I gently twisted the ink line back and forth until the ends were butted up inside the cotton swab splice.  I then positioned the heat-shrink tubing over the splice, and shrunk it with a hair dryer.  The heat-shrink tubing I used has hot-melt glue applied to the inside, which further aided in making a leak-proof splice.  Again, there is not a lot of room, so the splice had to be kept small.
I reassembled the printer, reinstalled the ink cartridges, and powered up the printer.  After the normal, long start-up delay, I printed several full-color test sheets, and all was fine.  The magenta cartridge that I had installed previously now shows that it is full, and the remaining cartridges also read the levels that they had prior to disassembly.

  • [Solved] CUPS: Unable to write print data: Input/output error

I'm filling this for the benefit of those poor googlers that can reach here.
Symptoms: After trying to print a "complex" image the printer made too much breaks, and failed.
The problem is, it then didn't came up. I mean, I restarted the printer, cupsd, the whole system, and nothing.
I was unable to print again, it showed "Unable to write print data: Input/output error" and refused to print anything.
I then saw that in /etc/cups I had printers.conf and printers.conf.O files, which differed (other than in StateTime), that printers.conf.O had
    State Idle
    but printers.conf had:
    State Stopped
StateMessage Unable to write print data: Input/output error
    Reason paused
Probably due to the ErrorPolicy being stop-printer.
So seeing I followed the following steps:
    Stop cups
Replace printers.conf with printers.conf.O (I could also had manually edited it)
    Start cups
    It then went working flawlessly.
There was probably an option in the web interface combobox for doing that. The problem is that I didn't realise it was stopped, so didn't know how to make it work. Moreover, some posts in the web recommended reinstalling the printer (which would skip the problem by creating a new printer).

I think that I had this same problem, and fixed it by reinstalling the printer.  Thank you for your post.
