Print from wireless laptop (win7) to HP 5550 attached to desktop (xp-pro)

network is wireless access point to router to multiple desktops.  Desktops are all XP-pro with a workgroup name (dexter).
I can see the printer in a list on the laptop when I search for printers.
Win 7 on laptop says I cannot use because there is no driver and it cannot find one.
I temporarily connected printer to laptop and it installed a driver but still wants to search for one when I ask it to use the printer on the desktop.   This is a piece of cake in XP.  Driving me mad with Win7.  HELP!
Thanks,

  • Printing from wireless laptop to ethernet connected Officejet pro 8500 A909a

I have an officejet pro 8500 A900a and a Linksys WRT54G router and I've been having difficulty printing from my laptop via WiFi. I used to be able to print regularly and I think HP sent me an update to some software that has since stopped that from happening. I have the IP and mask for the printer set manually asto never change and set the default gateway to the correct setting for my router.  I can ping the device and I can access the printer admin pages from my laptop using the ip address. I can even print reports and run diagnostics from the HTTP connection but no printing from Word or ANY other source.  The printer does print from another desktop that has a USB connection to the printer but the connection is not always plugged in.  What do I do?

  • My Pixma MX925 prints from wireless laptop Win8.1 but won't scan. Only scans to desktop.

How can I set up my Canon Pixma MX925 to scan to wireless laptop running Windows 8.1, no problem in printing.
Desktop connected by ethernet prints and scans. Printer only offers option to scan to desktop.
Have searched unsuccessfull to find answer.

    Hello Eduardo_Hebilla,
I'm sorry to hear that you are unable to scan wirelessly to your Officejet Pro 8500. I can see that you have tried to set a manual IP and this did not help fix the problem and you are still seeing the message "Scanner Not Found". I have researched this issue for you and I will post the troubleshooting guide below for you to follow.
You will need to choose your Operating System and continue following the steps from there.

  • Print from wireless laptop and print comes out hours later

My wife has a wirelessly connected laptop and when she prints from it, the printer doesn't print for a few hours.  When I print from the desktop which is connected directly to the router it prints right away.    We have a Netgear router, windows 7 and the Printer is an HP C5180 All In One.
    Any help would be appreciated.

If you are able to print from your desktop properly, then the printer has been setup correctly. The issue could be with AV or Firewall programs installed on your wife's laptop, or some connectivity issue between her laptop and your router. These are the only 2 possibilities I can think of at this point. Try to disable the firewall and AV and they try printing.

  • Cannot print from wireless laptop with ultra line 9100 em router

I am having the same problem with the new router unable to print from a wireless connected laptop only I have a ultra line 9100 em router from Verizon. I am naive as to terminology and I don't know where to start to change the IP address in the printer(HP series 6110 office jet) I got no help from Verizon and HP referred me back to Verizon. Can anybody help in plain English

Does the Printer ALSO have a Wireless Connection ?
Also are you running a Software based Firewall on either the desktop with the printer or the laptop ?
I have seen instances where the Actiontec TCP/IP Range is different that the previous router and the software firewall detects this as a new network and blocks access unless you give it permission.

  • Can not print from wireless laptop

Hello. I have been searching forums for the past 2 days now and have tried many suggestions made but I still cannot print. My environment has a Cisco 3560G switch which does DHCP with a VLAN for wireless clients, connected to this switch is a Cisco WLC4402 to manage all wireless access points which are Cisco 1130 and 1140 series. We recently purchased an HP LaserJet pro CP1525nw color printer which we have connected with an Ethernet cable to the Cisco switch on a port in the same VLAN as the wireless clients. The printer will pick up a valid IP address from the switch and if I connect a laptop with an Ethernet cable to the switch I can ping the IP of the printer and print to it once I install the driver, if I unplug the laptop from the switch and go over the wireless my laptop gets an IP in the same range as the printer and I can ping the printer IP address as well as open the web interface for the printer but cannot print, once I open the print queue on my laptop I see error printing and nothing prints out. I always add the printer as an IP port and supply the IP address when I install the driver to test. I have also gone through the manual for the WLC4402 but did not find anything for printing. There has to be a setting on the controller that is preventing me from printing but I don't know what it could be. On the laptop I use to test I also installed LPR and LPD and I even tried using another printer that I know works fine in its place and still could not print, so I don't think it's the printer. Does anyone know where I can start looking?
    Thanks

The printer setup on the laptop is using Protocol RAW with port number 9100, cannot set it up as LPR because we do not have a print server setup, we are trying to do printing via IP address. I enabled Multicast as it was the only option I saw available in the WLC4402 (did not see anything for broadcast) and tried printing but have the same results. Anything else I can try?

  • 5512 all in one wireless; unable to find printer from my laptop

Last week we had to replace our wireless modem.  Yesterday was the first day we needed to print something. The printer was showing it was "offline" on my laptop and my son's laptop. It hadn't been connected to the new modem, so I did that. It shows a wireless connection and good signal strength. After that our laptops still showed it was offline.  Another laptop doesn't show the printer is offline but we get an "unable to print" error message. I decided I would uninstall the printer from my laptop and then reinstall it (I'd had this issue before and this worked) but now it says there's no printer found when trying to add it back.  Any ideas???

    Hello LLHRN07,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue when it comes to connecting the printer to the new wireless router.
I suggest that you try to run the Wireless setup Wizard from the printer. To do so, please go to the front panel on the printer, use the right arrow and go to the SetUp Menu.  Use the right arrow again and select the Wireless Menu. From here, go to the Wireless SetUp Wizard and follow the prompts to connect to the new router.
If you have any issues, or any other questions, please feel free to write me back.

  • [SOLVED] Apps freeze when i try to wirelessly print from this laptop

I have an HP Zv6000 running arch that is about 2 1/2 years old, and I have shared the printer on my main desktop so that the laptop can print wirelessly (the desktop also runs arch).  The problem is, when I try to print from the laptop, Openoffice stops responding.  This also happens on certain other dialogs, especially when I am trying to change stuff in the Options dialog.  I am also unable to print from other applications.  I really don't know what the problem is here.  I have the printer's driver installed on the laptop and the usblp module loaded.
    Last edited by kclive18 (2008-06-24 11:02:56)

Sorry for the double-posting, but I uninstalled and installed CUPS on both client and server, and followed the Linux to Linux printer sharing configuration posted on the arch wiki.  This laptop still freezes whenever I try to print anything except for a test page from the CUPS web interface.  So it must be config-related and the problem HAS to be on my laptop, since my server can print just fine.  Does anyone know what the problem is?  I've been trying for hours and nothing's wanting to work for me.
EDIT: I tried running soffice from the terminal and I looked for any output.  This is what I got:
    [ken@myhost ~]$ soffice
libGL error: open DRM failed (Operation not permitted)
libGL error: reverting to (slow) indirect rendering
Nothing really related to printing here.  Also, running gedit from terminal gave me no output whatsoever when it froze.  Weird...:|

  • No longer able to print from wireless MacBook Pro to wired C7280

I originally piggy-backed this onto an existing thread thinking that it was the same issue.  It looks like it was something else now, so I figured I probably ought to spin this off onto its own thread.
    Details:
Printer:  Photosmart C7280 All-in-One, connected to network via Ethernet, IP address 192.168.1.5 (confirmed with Network Menu > View Network Settings > Display Wired Summary)
Router:  Verizon/Actiontec MI424-WR (Verizon FiOS) with
    * Ethernet ports
    * 802.11b and 11g with WPA encryption
Desktop:  iMac with Mac OS 10.5.8, Ethernet connection.  I originally installed the HP software from the CD when we got the 7280 a few years ago, but we've probably upgraded it since then.
My Laptop:  MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.5.8, wireless connection.  I think the HP software was originally downloaded from hp.com (as opposed to the original CD).
Wife's Laptop:  MacBook with Mac OS 10.6.3, wireless connection.  HP software downloaded from hp.com.
We've been able to print from the laptops to the 7280 until several days ago.  After that, anything sent from the laptops stayed on the printer queue without any reaction from the printer, even after the usual tricks (cycling power on printers, holding and unholding jobs, pausing and unpausing printers, etc.)
Our laptops seem to lose the wireless connection a bit more frequently than normal, and at first I thought that was the problem.  Lately, however, I can't get anything to print even when the wireless connection stays solid.  I can print from the iMac, though.
As noted above, my wife's MacBook has 10.6.3, so I'll try the instructions on other threads for uninstalling the HP software and using the built-in 10.6 drivers.  If I can pry the MacBook away from my wife long enough :-)
Meanwhile, I've been trying to troubleshoot my own MacBook Pro.  I can ping 192.168.1.5, and I can pull up the printer's web page by entering "192.168.1.5" in my web browser.
So I followed the instructions here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docnam e=c01893662&tmp_task=solveCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&c...
(title:  Mac OS X:  Print Jobs are Stuck in the Print Queue and Will Not Print on a Networked Product)
I followed Solution 1 (Delete and readd printer) until I got to steps 7 and 8.  The printer wasn't automatically added to the Printers list, so I clicked the Add button, but wasn't able to select my printer from the list.  Some of the information in Solution 2 seemed to hint that I had a connectivity problem, and suggested that I look for network connectivity solutions.  Unfortunately, all of the network connectivity FAQs referred to Windows-specific utilities, so I decided to uninstall the HP software (using HP Uninstaller).  I downloaded HP_Installer_PSC7200_v9.7.1.dmg from hp.com and ran it, but here's what happened:
At the Select Device step, no devices appeared even though the printer was powered up and on the network.  (As noted earlier, I can ping it.)  I checked "My device is not listed" and clicked Continue; when "Photosmart C7200 series" appeared, I selected it.
At the "Select the Device Connection" subset, I selected "Network." (The "device" in this question is the printer--right?)
I went through the Install step.
No device was listed at the Setup step.  I handled this the same way as the Select Device step ("My device is not listed", Continue, click "Photosmart C7200 series", Continue, select "Network", Continue.
This time, I got this dialog:  "If your device is not listed, it is not supported by this installer.  Please visit www.hp.com/support to download an installer, if one is available" even though this was the correct installer for C7200 and Mac 10.5.
Am I overlooking something?  What should I try next?
    This question was solved.

It appears that the printer is OK and is on the network.  Eventually you may want to set a static IP address for it, but let's get things working first.
The first thing I would try would be to reset the printing system on all the problem Macs:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
If this does not do it there may be something going on with the router.  I have a few ideas if this is required.  Let me know.

  • Officejet 7210 wont print on wireless laptop

Ok...my printer and wireless laptop read each other perfectly until I got a virus...took it in ..and after I got home with the computer, it would no longer work with the printer. Printer is plugged in through ethernet cable to wireless router.
    Running windows xp home
by the way it works when printer and laptop are hooked up via usb
    Thank you for your help..Dave

If you still have the driver loaded you can add it manually:
First, verify that you can browse to the printer's internal web page by its IP address.
    1. Click "Start" button --> Printers and Faxes.
    2. Under Printer Tasks, click "Add Printer".
    3. Click "Next" button on the Add Printer Wizard window.
    4. Select "Local printer attached to this computer". Deselect "Automatically detect and install My Plug and play printer". Click "Next".
    5. Under Select a Printer Port option, select "Create a new port" and select "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click "Next" button.
    6. In the "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP printer port wizard" make sure that the printer is turned on and connected to same network that your computer is connected to. Click "Next" button.
    7. Under "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port" enter the printer's IP address. Click "Next" then click "Finish".
    8. Now, select HP from the list of manufacturers, select your printer from the list of Printer models and click 'Next' button.
    9. If you can't find your printer, you'll need to find the install CD and use the "Have Disk" option to select one of the hp*.ini files. Alternatively, you can select another HP printer model from the same type.
    10. Add the print spooler name and click "Next".
    11. Click "Next"
    12. Click "Next" and then "Finish"

  • I am trying to get my D1560 to print from my laptop.

I was trying to get my D1560 to print from my laptop. On advice from the HP website, I uninstalled the printer, and downloaded the latest driver software. But when I extract the file (either the downloaded file or from the CD), nothing happens. The file extraction reaches 100%, then nothing. No error messages, no directions on what to do next, not even a kiss goodbye.
How can I get the printer installed, and then print from a networked computer that is not directly attached to the print device?
I've taken two steps back. At least before, Windows (7, 64-bit, by the way) would recognize the printer, even though I couldn't print to the D1560.
The print device is attached to my HP Slimline desktop. Does the Slimline have to be awake in order to print from my laptop?
Also, I downloaded the HPPDU software, (before I uninstalled the printer) but since it can't find the printer, it can't solve the problem. That IS the problem - the computer can't find the printer.

  • Officejet Pro 8500A Premium will not print from my laptop

I have an Officejet Pro 8500A Premium. I jus had ot reload my driver thinking it would resolve the below issue but it did not. The connection string is  laptop -> docking station -> ethernet to router -> ethernet to printer.  On my laptop I can see the ink levels of the printer so there is a connection but when I attempt to print and select the Officejet 8500 (non fax) printer, it attempts to print to the 8500A fax and then pops up with a fax box.
    Additional Information:
    I have tried the following:
    - Changed the port for the 8500A fax
    - Tried to set the default printer from the fax to the network printer - received an error message: Operation could not be completed (error 0x0000709). Double check the printer name and make sure that the printer is connected to the network.

    Hello coolhandluke2,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having issues when attempting to print from your Laptop.
I also see that you are getting an error 0x0000709.
I do have a few suggestions we can try.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I am also going to give you a document that deals with a 'Problem with Printhead,' 'Printer Failure,' 'Ink System Failure,' or a '0x...' or a 'C2...' Error Me....
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
