Print image area shifted in illustrator cs6

I'm on a Mac working in Illustrator CS6. I went to print out of the print dialog box and after I printed, I noticed that the margins are larger on one side that the other. I re-opened the print dialog box and double clicked in the area that shows the artwork prior to print, to re center the artwork in the window, and noticed that there two dotted lines in thw window. One being the artwork, and the other is the image printable area. Well when I double clicked on the dialog box to re-center the artwork in the prinatble area, the art works centers, but the printer image area is offset, or nudged upward. When I print the margins are larger on one side and not centered. Heres the million dollar question,"How do I re-center the image area for printing so when I print, the artwork is centered?" I'm not printing boarderless. Thanks for your help in advance. I will try to include a pic if needed.

Update! No update! Adobe did send me an e-mail stating that they were trying to call me. They had been trying to call the wrong number. ?????? I don't understand that. My Adobe profile has my right number. Anyway still waiting.   I had to call them back again and when I did, I waited 30 min. Finally got someone. Waited for them to review the notes another 10 min total, proceeded to ask me my problem with the download???????? Thats not my problem! ADOBE C'MON! The representative told me it had to be escalated to next level. Wait a min................ the last two calls ago, they told me the issue had beed elevated as high as it could be, to the developer/engineering level. I feel I'm getting the run around! Sorry for the venting, but dont release a product if it doesn't work. Been a month total! Out of business! Shouldn't have gotten rid of my other machine with CS5. I'll keep you posted.

  • Printed images are rastered

I use PSE 7 and I have a Brother HL-1430 non-color laser printer. Before I installed PSE 7, I was always using Paint Shop Pro and my printed images showed no raster. Now that I use PSE 7, I always see that my printed images are rastered. How can I change that to a smooth image on paper like I was used to with Paint Shop Pro? I already tried several settings. I cannot find a setting in my printer software that would turn off any color management. Anyway, it must be a setting in PSE 7, because I can print fine with Paint Shop Pro.

Digital halftoning uses a raster image or bitmap where each monochrome picture element or pixel may be on or off, ink or no ink.
Halftone is the reprographic technique that simulates continuous tone imagery through the use of dots, varying either in size or in spacing.
Where continuous tone imagery contains an infinite range of colors or greys, the halftone process reduces visual reproductions to a binary image that is printed with only one color of ink. This binary reproduction relies on a basic optical illusion that these tiny halftone dots are blended into smooth tones by the human eye.

  • Printed images are pixelating

Images already printed clearly, are pixelating when I copy and then past as layers onto a new canvas.
This is a proceedure I have used many times in the past, and am quite surprised, and lost, about the reasons for it.
    Any help on this question?

    Hi, Trevor,
The light came on, and the problem corrected...knew it was something simple, and upon reading your response, realized that another adjustment I was using (setting the canvas size to the media size) was creating the problems with the pixels.
    Thanks for your quick response.

  • Olympus p440 printer - printed images are distorted

Since updating to 10.6 I have not been able to print correctly from my Olympus dye-sub printer. I had previously used the older gimp-print driver, but this is not available anymore only the Gutenprint version.
Now I find that everything I try to print is compressed in one axis (i.e. the aspect ratio is not preserved). Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

  • Why do theme images are shift to the right?

I have downloaded several themes (personas). When I look at the picture on the add-on site the main object is usually in the center of the picture. When I download it (or even hover over it to see how it looks on my browser) the image is always shifted so the main object is at the right side. This even happens when the main object is at the left side of the picture.
Is there anything I can do so that the image is in the same position on the browser as it is in the pictures?

A Persona (lightweight theme) is always attached at the top right position and a good Persona should have been designed with this in mind, so the most important content should be in the top right corner because the left and lower part might not be visible.
Now that you can't easily add extra toolbars to see more of the lower parts this is now more important.

  • Problem: Illustrator CS6 - print PostScript (fuzziness and blurring edges of vector objects)

    Hello,
Earlier to print to the printer Develop Ineo+ 451 used the program Illustrator CS3. In connection with the transition to Windows 7 (64bit), was bought by a new version of Illustrator CS6 64bit. Unfortunately, when printing from Illustrator CS6 (price lists, business cards, labels) on a PostScript printer were detected problems, which were not in previous versions of Illustrator CS3.
A comparison of the print quality of the two programs Adobe Illustrator CS3 and Adobe Illustrator CS6, made on a PostScript
The software used on the computers:
    1st PC: Windows XP SP2 (32bit), Adobe Illustrator CS3 (32bit), the driver Generic 50C-2SeriesPS v3.0.16.0 (32bit).
    2nd PC: Windows 7 SP1 (64bit), Adobe Illustrator CS6 (64bit), the driver Generic 50C-2SeriesPS v3.0.16.0 (64bit).
    Printer: Develop Ineo+ 451 (PostScript).
Drivers are available for download on the site www.chansi.ru
    link http://download6.konicaminolta.eu/develop/public/&&BDV&RU&sw&&&&&0&&&0&&0&&0
(to choose Product Ineo + 452, for download tested version of the printer driver).
Because after using the new version of the driver, the print quality was not satisfactory, then for the correctness of the comparison experiment, already used driver version 50C-2SeriesPS v3.0.16.0 has been selected.
When you print from the program Adobe Illustrator CS6, a printer PostScript, you can see fuzziness and blurring edges of vector objects, small text becomes fuzzy and difficult to read. If you print from a program Adobe Illustrator CS3 (using the same version of the driver), there are not such problems and the print quality is quite satisfactory.
The settings in the dialog box "Print" of Adobe Illustrator and the print settings in the dialog boxes of the PostScript printer driver of Develop Ineo+ 451, were chosen exactly the same for both versions of the programs Adobe Illustrator CS3 and Adobe Illustrator CS6 on both operating systems!!!

What's the explanation for the following sequence?
    1. Paste as Smart Object, at moment after pasting and before clicking the commit icon (no transform was made) in options bar. The object is rendered pixel-perfect.
    2. After the commit. The object is poorly rendered with gray pixels which should be white.
    3. Press Cmd+T for transform mode. The object is rendered pixel-perfect again.
    4. After canceling transform mode, the object is poorly rendered again.

  • Illustrator CS6 Live Trace negative image

    Hello,
We have recently updated our office Adobe Creative Suite, and are now using Illustrator CS6 to clean-up hand drawn sketches.  When we run any sort of trace on a simple, black and white line drawing, the trace results in a negative image:  the white background turns black, and the outline of the sketch is white.  We have tried checking the "ignore white" box and several other settings changes.  Does anyone know how to fix this, or prevent it from happening?  Initially, for our first few times using the new suite this didn't happen:

Wow, that looks strange. Could you post one of the original sketches files?

  • Printing too contrasty and saturated in CS6. How to correct?

i have just upgraded from Mac OS 10.5 and CS5 to Mac OS 10.8.4 and CS6 printing on Epson 9880. Struggling to get calibrated prints - before it was excellent. Now printed images are WAY contrasty and saturated compared to the monitor, a LA Cie 324, which I calibrate with la Cie Eye One puck. If I use settings "Let Printer" manage color, the print is much less saturated and contrasty than if I use the settings "Let PS" manage color; all this relates to using icc profiles for Epson Premium Photo Paper Glossy, or other papers, Ilford Galerie Prestige Smooth Pearl, for example. The overall color is ok, it is an issue of contrast and saturation at the moment. As with all of these issues, very frustrating!
    Any suggestions for resolving this?

Epson does have a problem with the "use 16 bit" checkbox in the Epson print settings that can cause similar issues.
    Try turning it off.

  • Help.  Images are magenta in Photoshop and LR, only.

I have recently installed Photoshop and LR CC on a new computer (Dell Precision T7600).  Previously color-balanced and printed images are severely magenta.  The files look fine in preview but change to magenta when opened.  Web images, powerpoints and pdfs look fine unless opened in Photoshop or LR, at which point they turn magenta.  The background color in LR and PS is not magenta.  Just the images. Could it be a glitch in the CC download or a problem with the new video card (NVIDIA NVS 310).  Or something else.  Help.  I can't work.

Your display profile is wrong, and the two color managed applications you use (which are the only ones paying attention to the display profile) are trying to compensate for the incorrect display properties.
Fix the display profile (in the OS display settings) so that it correctly reflects the properties of your display.

Save/Export them as JPG. Photoshop defaults to PSD, so make sure you select JPG and not just rename the file to .jpg.
There are two ways to save them as JPG: Regular Save as option or Save for Web & Devices
    Take your pick.

Not sure if this will help, but what is your inDesign file's "Transparency Blend Space" set to? It's under the edit menu.
Also, when you are placing your images, are you selecting "Show Import Options" and making any selections there?

  • Printing problems using Illustrator CS6 (Mac)

    Hi,
I'm having trouble using Illustrator CS6. I just bought an HP LaserJet CP1025nw color printer. My operating system is Mac OS X 10.6.8.
I've printed two different format files (.ai and .png) in Illustrator, but there are white lines (without printing) ocurring in the exact same place on both documents, this only happens in Illustrator, not Photoshop or any other software. I did a test using exactly the same .png file in many applications, except for Illustrator, the file is printed perfectly.
I asked HP for help, but they say this is a problem caused by Illustrator CS6 and they can't do anything about it.
What can I do to solve this problem? Could you please help me?
I've already installed the latest update of this software.
    Thanks in advance.

    hong,
You need to ClickDrag just a tiny bit, then apply the Shift Option Command.

  • Photoshop to Illustrator (CS6), problem with linked images

    Hi,
I have a very frustrating problem when importing .psd files to Illustrator CS6. I recieve files from an artist and have to make some sort of pre-print on them, add texts etc..
They are multi layer and upon opening in Illustrator I select Convert Layers to Objects. After that every bitmap layer in the file is converted to a link, and this is where my problems start. First of all it would simply be most conveniant if I had the option to embed all upon import.
But even with this option lacking, I should be able to highlight a link in the Links panel, and select Embed image from the drop-down menu. Unforetunately this option is always disabled, same with the Embed button on the control toolbar when the liked image is selected. Furthermore, the link information option always shows empty name and locations fields, so its impossible to know which files I should attach if I would like to send them to print as links together with the .ai file. Even when I do know which file it is in, how should I collect them together so that there are no broken links on the other side?
I simply don't understand how to manage those links or whats the best way to avoid them. It has gotten to the point where I save each layer in Photoshop separately as .pdf and place them in illustrator manually, but there has to be an easier way. Even when saving in .tiff in photoshop and selecting "place" with the "link" option unchecked in illustrator, it will still place it as a link. On the other hand when placing pdf files in illustrator they import as "Non-native art" which as I read can also cause troubles with colors etc.. Can somebody please help me make sense of it???
I work in Windows 7 64 bit and have Adobe Design & Web Premium CS6.

When an Illustrator AI file is saved with PDF compatibility it contains of 2 forks, the one contains the whole file for editing in Illustrator (which makes it important ot choose the correct comptibility of Illustrator version) and the other contains the pdf part. If you use such an ai file with pdf compatibility to place in InDesign, Photoshop or even in Illustrator these programs use the pdf part.
The pdf part should be complete even if the linked files are missing, so it is possible to open an ai file in Acrobat or Reader. The pdf part is also a rich PDF which contains all coors and transparency.
From Illustrator CS6.1 forward it is possible to extract embedded images. And it is a good tradition in all programs to have all embedded files listed in the link panel.

  • New Image Trace in Illustrator CS6 | Visual Design CS6 | Adobe TV

Product manager Brenda Sutherland Convert shows how to convert raster images to editable vectors using a completely new tracing engine in Illustrator CS6.
    http://adobe.ly/IKo2Vu

While the Help videos are fun to watch, they are NOT AT ALL helpful.  Imagine yourself as a new user  (or a user migrating up from CS3-CS5 to Cloud CS6) who wants to learn how to use Illustrator Image Trace (or find where it was moved for this release) .   Now, watch the videos currently posted.  Where is this command located?  Where are the presets located?  Where are the tools located?  It seems the demonstrators are right clicking on the mouse and  using keyboard shortcut commands. which do not "show" on the video.  Do we really need 12 minute videos?
As a long time user and sometime trainer, text instructions are much faster to search/read/refer and easier to remember than flashy graphics, loud music and a talking head.
The Adobe website forces users to be caught in a Contact Us loop when looking for help.  For example, I spent 20 minutes looking for a printed version of a help file, 20 minutes in a chat session with a customer service rep who eventually gave me a number to call, then 57 minutes on the phone with a technician who was not familiar with the issues or the software.  He did, however, help me find the PDF help file but we were unable to search for the words Paint or Trace ... until he looked it up (Ctl F).  In fact, the only way to search the PDF file is to download it to the user's hard drive and use the Find command (Mac/PC).  This was only for Illustrator.  Same story for Photoshop (issue resolved by reinstalling) and In Design.
Honestly, the entire Creative Cloud experience has truly been frustrating - from download to support.  If cars were like computers, we'd still be driving horse and buggies.
