Print Images within a smart build
I am creating a presentation for a client that wants to view all of the images within each smart build on a printout. Is there an easy way to do this that doesn't require me to manually show each build?
I've done that but it does not print each image in the smart build. Works for everything else.

Adjusting Images in Smart Build
I have a series of images set in a Smart Build, and I want to adjust all these images (contrast, saturation, etc.). When I open Adjust Image - I can't make any changes to the smart build images. Does Smart Build enable this feature? I could just adjust them all in Photoshop, save the jpgs again, and drop them back in...but I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that.
Please let me know as soon as you can - I would appreciate it so much!
Thanks!Have a look here. Only workaround I have found is to re-do the build. Send feedback to Apple via the Keynote Menu.

Hi there,
We're heavy users of Keynote and have noticed a new bug has recently been introduced into something that was stable. I think it has emerged in Keynote 5.2, could have been Keynote 5.1 also.
It's in the area of Set Timing and Order of each build when used on a Smartbuild. You can no longer set the Start Build field for each instance within the Smart build when the instances are interspersed between other items. The Start build field is just blank and unselectable.
To see this :
1. Create a bullet point list with 4 lines
2. Set build to Appear
3. Set "Set Timing and Order of each Build" to on
4. Create a Smart Build - set to flip
5. On the Smart Build Set "Set Timing and Order of each Build" to on
5. re-order the items in your Build Order so that they alternate between the bullet point and the smart build flip
At this point, you used to be able to set the bullets so that they Started on Click and then set the smart builds to Start with previous. This gave you a nice and very useful effect where you could click to reveal a bullet point and at the same time flip in a corresponding image. We've used this loads of times in our company presentations.
With a recent keynote update ( I think 5.2 maybe, could have been 5.1) this functinality has been lost. have tried it on Lion and Mountain Lion and it's not an OS issue, its a Keynote issue.
Could anyone from Apple acknowledge that they know the issue and suggest if it will get fixed? Right now we're hunting round for an old Keynote 9 DVD so we can install a pre build 5.2 version.
ThanksHi glennelliott72,
I've noticed the bug you describe and to me it's very irritating.
I also found some differences in the build menu between the last release and the previous one, and between the Mac OS X and iOS versions. For instance, the blast build doesn't exist anymore in Keynote 5.2 but it's still in the version for iOS 6.
What is your experience about?
I currently use OX Lion.
Thank you -
Adding Text to Turntable Smart Build
Can anyone help me with adding the "turntable" effect in Smart build? I'm trying to add text as a header to each photo I add in the smart build, so that it moves with the picture, but I can't do it. Is there something I'm missing?
If the photo is grouped with a text box, you can paste this grouped image into the Smart Build to produce the effect you want.
Drag the photo onto the slide, add a text box with the header text you want, group that box with the image, and then copy and paste that image into the spot in the Smart Build. -
Images in smart build open right justified
Has anyone else seen this.
I've just opened an existing Keynote08 file in 09. And all my smart build push images have become right justified and off center. I can't find anyway of putting them back into the center. Can anyone help?Have a look here. Only workaround I have found is to re-do the build. Send feedback to Apple via the Keynote Menu.

Use images with instant alpha in smart build?
I have a few logos with solid backgrounds that I would like to use in a smart build with the backgrounds removed. I can put the logos in the smart build with and I can also remove the backgrounds using instant alpha. I cannot figure out how to put the logos with the background removed into the smart build. Perhaps this is not possible since the instant alpha effect is non-destructive and doesn't truly change the image file? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Check this thread.

What you have to do it "set" the image WITH the Instant Alpha before using it in a Smart Build. -
Image size is too big after "Smart Build Grid"
The Smart Build Grid feature is awesome. Unfortunately, I have one issue with it- it sometimes zooms the images too much when using the grid feature.
Specifically, I have a 4 x 3 matrix of rectangular images. With each Zoom from the grid, Keynote zooms too much, so that the center of the image is nicely displayed, but cuz it zooms too much, important info on the sides of the image is cropped out in the magnified image.
How can I set Keynote to zoom so that the zoomed image is only as big as the longest axis relative to the slide (thereby displaying all information)?
Keynote 4.01, OS 10.4.11, PPC G4 867 MHz.
Thank you very much! But the image is in
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Input Status" ...
How can it be fixed? Please provide your advise. Thanks. -
Remove background from Smart Build images
Hi,
I've just started creating my first project with Keynote, and so far it's terrific. The question I have is, is it possible to use the alpha tool, or something similar to remove backgrounds from images that I'm using for a smart builds effect.
Thanks,
DaveWelcome to the discussions, Decaffeinated1.
The problem you're seeing is specifically with how Keynote copies images. Neither Pages nor Numbers has this problem. The problem and the solution is described here.
http://www.keynoteuser.com/news/?p=256
Basically, your choice is to copy through Pages or Numbers (or iWeb) OR to copy another object which will force Keynote to adhere to the transparency set with Instant Alpha. -
Dynamic images in CF report builder 7
Hi :-)
Im pulling my hair out over an issue with cfreport builder 7
and the abillity to dynamically display images.
I can display images dynamicaly fine using this method:
application.coverimage & "/" & query.image
The problem is ive no idea how to say " if there is no image
available then display noimage.jpg"
ive played with the iif and fileexists functions but cant
seem to get it to work within the report builder.
If using cf report builder 8 the answer is simple, you can
change an attribute of the image to say "on error do not display
image" but i really need to do this with CF7.
Can anyone help please? :-)I just found this solution and it helped me, and then I found a nice way to show your "noimage.jpg". You make a report function which sets a persistent variable containing the path to your image (I use the Request scope, so "Request.imagePath" for example). The variable is set to your "noimage.jpg" if it can't find the image path. You can pass parameters to the function from your query, if you wish. The function itself always returns "true". Call this function in the "Print when" property (remember, it's always true so it will always show), and the persistent variable is used as the image path. That way you can have your proper image or your default image show.
I almost gave up on the CF Report Builder -- the report functions made it cool enough to keep using. -
Smart Build Separate Timings not working
I've created a smart build within one slide to fade one photograph to the next. (This is the only way I can see to get an audio track embedded into a series of images). It has a checkbox to use separate timings for each segment of the build. I checked it and sure enough all of the images now show as separate items in the drawer. When I uncheck it, they all become one build and it shows that the timing for image 1 is to be applied to all the other images. That's all great.
However, when I DO use the separate timings option and I change the timing for any one image, it applies for all the other images. In other words - it isn't working. Anyone else see this. Anyone have a fix?Ideally what I want to do is be able to click through each image rather than set a delay for each element of the build. Sometimes I need to speed through this section of the presentation and other times I can go slowly through it. So, I need to be able to set each element to advance on click. Then I want to have each dissolve be a different duration. Some dissolves look better with a 2 second dissolve and others with a 5 second dissolve.
Just spoke to Apple, they say that it is not designed to be able to set different durations for the different elements of a smart build. The separate timings checkbox only refers to how long an image stays on screen before the next image comes up.
Of course this would all be a mute point if Apple would just add the ability to play audio across a series of slides within a show. -
Nearly every time that I attempt to print from within both Safari and Mail, these applications crash. After several attempts I'm able to print with out the application crashing. My software is up to date according to the software updater.
Is there some patch or download that can help me with this problem?
Thanks!Messages after crash:

Print Charts/Graphs on Smart Forms
Hi Seniors,
Here is a requirement on Smart Forms:
I need to print Charts on Smart Forms. I have been through many answers on SDN but unfortunately, there are not many appropriate solutions. I executed some standard reports and got Charts and graphs as output but am not able to use it to display the same on Smart Forms. I have even tried using classes for charts / graphs, business graphics(may be there would have been some sequential procedure for that).
In the Smart Form, I have tried Form Attributes>Output Options>Output Format--> XSF output
with output mode: 'Spool' and Output Device: 'XSFOUTDEV' from help.sap(I couldn't get what output device that was and was unable to execute).
I have tried executing transaction GRAL(demo reports for SAP graphics) too.
I found a report that would produce graph in Excel, I executed it, saved the graph from excel in '.bmp' format in SE78 and then printed it on Smart Form. But all I want is to have it done dynamically.
I saw answers that we can save the graph chart/graph onto the desktop, upload it and then display it on the Smart Forms. But, when i tried it, I saw that it could be saved only in '.dat' format. I have to save it dynamically in a supported format like '.bmp' and print it on the Smart Forms(the graph would change depending upon the input values). Please help me resolve this.
Thanks in Advance,
Chaitanya.Dear Bouman,
Thank you for the reply. I can write a report if would helps me to upload images dynamically. I saw your program but, here we cant give the name of the chart that comes as output. I tried to save the chart but it comes in '.dat' format but not in '.bmp' format. We may be having some classes or function modules that we need to call in a particular sequence. What other options do we have. Please help me resolve this.
Regards,
Chaitanya.C.N -
Sort images within stack by rating?
Hi Gang,
I'm editing a massive job and there's one part of the process that is taking forever. After I've rated every image within a stack, I seem to have to resort them manually to be shown from highest rating to lowest rating, either by dragging or by using the "promote/demote" buttons.
Is there any way to make images in a stack sort themselves by rating? This would literally save me hours of time.I know of no way to automatically stack by rating. You could create Smart Albums with only certain ratings included. I know that's not exactly what you wanted to do, but it would accomplish a segregation of your photos by rating.
Sorry not to be able to provide an answer, but I don't think there is one.

Print Module: Faint shadow around printed image (Mac OS, Canon 9500)
I am seeing a faint shadow around my prints. On 8.5x11 prints it extends above and below the image as though it's completing the parts of the cell that don't contain the image. On 13x19 prints it extends above and below the image in thin strips, but not all the way to the cell size. This is for 3:2 aspect ratio images.
It looks like Lightroom is trying to print white within the parts of the cell not containing the image, but that white is being translated into near white before being printed, perhaps because of a bad color management setting. But I don't understand why Lightroom is doing this at all, rather than just not printing anything where there is no image. The colors in the image itself look accurate, at least to my eyes.
I got this printer about a year ago, and I wasn't seeing this at first. I just noticed this recently, but I went and looked at some older prints and some of them have it and some don't, so sadly I am not certain when it started or what changed when it did.
I am using Lightroom 2.5 on Mac OS X 10.6.2 using the printer drivers that came with Snow Leopard. The printer is a Canon PIXMA Pro9500 using standard LUCIA ink. The paper is Ilford Galerie Golf Fibre Silk, and I'm using Ilford's ICC profile for this paper and printer.
As for color management, in the Print Module I have the profile set to the Ilford profile, and I have the rendering intent set to perceptual, although this happens with relative as well.
In the printer driver, when I click "Print Settings…" in the Print Module, color matching is set to ColorSync. The only other choice is Canon Color Matching, but that's grayed out.
Is anyone else seeing this and can it be fixed?
I am frustrated that Lightroom is printing where there is no image. It's very obvious when I print a square image so there is a great deal of empty space on either side of the image. I can see the print head going back and forth for a couple of inches where there is no image. I don't understand why Lightroom can just make the printer advance the paper to where the actual image starts.
I'm not looking for a workaround. I know I could just live with it or just mat the print such that the faint shadow can't be seen. I'd rather actually understand what Lightroom or my printer is doing.
Thanks!I played around with it and it's definitely Lightroom. The faint color is being laid down inside the area defined by Cell Size where there is no image.
For example, I have a 3:2 aspect ratio image. I am using US Letter size paper. I have 1-inch margins left and right, and 1.38-inch margins top and bottom. That translates into a Cell Size of 8.24 by 6.5 inches. To fit into the cell, my image size is 8.244 by 5.496 inches. So my image is the same height as the cell, but it's about 1 inch shorter in width, so I get a pair of 1/2-inch wide faint color bars on either side of the image.
If I change Cell Size so that it is the same width but longer height than my image, then I get faint bars above and below the image, rather than on either side. As long as the Cell Size is not equal to the image size, then I'll get the faint bars anywhere in the cell where there is no image.
If I manually type in the the Cell Size to exactly match the image size, then I get no bars.
This means to me that Lightroom is "printing" white everywhere inside the cell where there is no image, and for some reason that white is being rendered as something other than white on the paper. I don't understand why, nor do I understand why Lightroom needs to print anything at all where there is no image.
But at least for now I have a workaround, although I'd rather fix the problem. -
Can smart builds include other actions? Or can I copy a build?
I have a smart build with dissolves in and out. A few slides do need bullet builds. So far it seems that I'll just have to build the presentation slide by slide in order to incorporate the different builds. Any suggestions?
Also, a possibly related question: can I copy a build from one slide to another? I hoped that copying/pasting the build details would result in the same action for the new slide, but no luck so far. If I could do this, it would expedite the main question, as I could copy the dissolve in/out from Slide 1, then paste it into, say, all 20 slides, then modifying only slide 14.
Thanks,
cbSure, Tulse. Say I have 20 slides. I know I can do a smart build that will let them all dissolve in/out, and I can loop it, to let it run on its own. All good. But a couple of the images need to expose bullet-by-bullet. So far, it seems that once I use a smart build, I can't change any individual slides.
Re: copying a build, I'd hoped that the transitions might transfer from slide to slide, as a spreadsheet changes references ("B2+C2" pasted in subsequent rows below becomes B3+C3, B4+C4, etc. So if I'd copy and paste a particular build (dissolve in/out), subsequent slides would adapt likewise, and then for the two exceptions, I'd just build them separately.
If I have to build 18 separate identical dissolves in/out, and two with bullet-by-bullet, I will. I'd just rather see if I've missed some detail that would expedite it.
Thanks,
cb
