Thank you for the answer.
USB printer is connected locally to the workstation. Print serwer
installed on LAN serwer. I`d like to install iPrint locally on the
workstation but I don`t know which version to choose. I can print only
without loggin on to Novell Netware. When I log on to LAN printer doesn`t
respond and I can`t print.

  • How to print directly to printer using USB and Bluetooth from Java (J2ME) app.

I write mobile phone apps in Java (J2ME). I want to print directly to a printer via USB and via Bluetooth. I cannot use a print job with the Java available to me. Once upon a time you could just send text and print control characters to a printer. I would like to be able to do that again. Alternatively could you provide a 'skeleton' data stream into which I could insert my code to produce what is sent to the printer when a print job is used with Java on a laptop or PC. I just want to sent simple text with a little formatting.

    Hi,
As far as printing to devices not all devices support Bluetooth. Many devices support Bonjour protocal, IPP. The main print port is 9100. Additionally you can see what IO protocols are supported on a product by looking at the EWS (Embedded WebServer) there should be a networking page with that information.  Port 9100 is your basic print port and different devices will support different formats (PDF, JPEG, PCL5, PCL6). If there is an API you can find (i am not familiar with J2ME availible calls, then you can use those and send the data to port 9100. Again that is the basic path most printers will accept. not all devices support bonjour not all device support bluetooth etc... Hope that helps and good luck.

  • HP Photosmart B110a constantly goes offline and won't print via USB either

    Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.8
    HP Photosmart B110
I've connected the printer to my wireless network without any issues, but when I first tried to connect my macbook pro to the printer, it would keep disappearing from the network. Once I finally managed to connect it, every time I go to print something now, it will always say it is offline. Even when I try and bypass the wireless connection and connect via USB, it will still say it is offline.
I've have tried reinstalling the printer and driver many times, and I've tried connecting 2 other macbooks via the wireless and all experience the same issue. It is starting to get incredibly frustrating having to reinstall the printer over and over again.
I would appreciate a solution that would prevent it from always going offline, even If I have to give up the wireless 'feature' and permanently print via USB. I do not have time to continuously fiddle with the settings every single time I need to print a document.

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • HP Officejet 5610: Problem Adding Printer via USB

Hello. I am trying to print via USB on a HP Officejet 5610. My Mac has detected it via USB. I tried to add it by "Default Printer." I got the model "HP" but could not find the model "Officejet 5610" for the gimp-print. I tried a few random models to print but none of them work. Could someone help me please? I do not have the installation CD. This is not my house. The person who owns the printer is usually not home and his computer locked.
    Thank you.

Disconnect the printer.  Remove references to it from  print and scan in system preferences.  Remove the HP folder from /Library/Printers.  Reconnect it.  Try again.  It should dowwnload drivers.

  • Airport Extreme - problem with usb printer and usb disk

I have Airport extreme with firmware 7.1. I try connect usb disk and usb printer with usb-hub to airport. I can't get disk or printer working. Also try connect only disk or printer without usb-hub to airport getting same problem. How I get disk and printer working with wireless network (windows pc computers)?
    1)
    My printer is HP PSC 1210 all-in-one ( http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=90764&lc=fi&cc=fi&dlc=fi&lang =fi&cc=fi&y=0&x=0 )
    - printer seems working fine after installing bonjour printer installing wizard.
    - I get error (in windows) when I try print document from word. Error only says "error printing" in status value.
    - In airport utility all seems ok. Airport see usb printer "Hewlett-Packard psc 1200 series"
    - printer protocol is RAW and driver manufacture HP (also try with microsoft driver)
    2)
USB disk is Targa Databox II 250
    - Airport utility says "Disk needs repair. Errors were found with a disk connected to your airport base station. please connect the usb disk to your mac or pc and use disk utility or another disk application to repair the disk"
    - I have connected Targa usb disk to windows pc and run scandisk and defreg. No errors found in windows. Result..no help for airport

I have a similar problem to your second issue. Tried connecting a Netdisk to the USB port of the Airport Extreme and it also said there was a problem with the disk. Have performed a low level format on the disk and Airport Extreme still complained the disk had a problem.
After unplugging the disk, my route decided to stop allowing wireless connections even after rebooting. Ended up having to hard reset the Airport Extreme and reconfigure it with my old settings to work again.
FWIW, the first Airport Extreme I purchased today only worked on 802.11a and steadfastly refused to work on b/g so had to get a replacement. I suspect Apple's quality control is not quite as good as it used to be.

  • Connecting a Printer to USB and AirPort Express Simultaneously

I have a Samsung laserprinter - the only connection on it is USB. I currently have this connected to a XP laptop.
Aswell as connecting it to my XP laptop, I wish to share the printer around the house. The other computers around the house are a combination of Macs and PCs.
It sounds like a strange request - but - I want to be able to connect the printer to my laptop and to the airport express (for the sharing part) at the same time.
I notice around the web that there are several devices you can buy, which are effectively USB 'splitters' for connecting a USB printer to 2 USB computers at the same time.
Could I use one of these 'splitters' in conjunction with the AirPort Express? In that way, I'd be able to connect the XP laptop to the printer via USB, and the rest of the house would share via the USB/Airport connection.
(Incase anyone asks, the XP laptop is on a different LAN network to the rest of the house, hence the problem).
Has anyone tried this? If so, can anyone recommend a make/model of such a 'splitter' that is proven to work with the AirPort Express?
(Or even better, maybe there is a device out there somewhere that does this without having to buy 2 devices).
    Thanks,
    Brad

USB is not designed to have two controllers at a given time. Therefore I would not trust one of these devices. It may damage the USB port on your laptop or the AirPort Express (AX).

Am considering buying a Time Capsule.  But all specs I read about it (re: printing) is how to hook up a printer via USB connection.  Need to confirm...that a wireless printer will work with the router feature of the Time Capsule.  I assume yes...?

A wireless printer connects to the network just like your computer, or iPhone/iPad, etc. connects using wireless.
The printer must be set up intially to scan to "find" available wireless networks, then your specific wireless network needs to be selected. Then the password for the network needs to be entered.
Once the printer is configured to join the network, it is always connected to the network. No further configuration is required.

  • HP 3210, OS X, can print w USB but not w WiFi. Can ping and access printers webpage.

I can connect and print on my HP 3210 directly via USB but not via the network. I can ping the printer and access its built in webpage through the network though, so it has network connection. When I try to add a network printer no printer shows up, so I manually add the printers IP address (valid and complete) and the ‘Generic PostScript Printer’ comes up as default. After I installed the printer through USB I can also access the specific 3210 drivers but it doesn't work either.
I once managed to print '%!PS-Adobe-3.0 Query  userdict (\004)cvn{(\004) print flush}put', then it continued to feed out blank papers until I canceled. I've tried the IPP, LPD and HP Jetdirect socket protocols together with the universal PostScript driver and the HP 3210 driver. One of the combinations returned the above line. Besides this one exception nothing happens, the printer appears offline.

It has previously worked on my older MacBook Pro and on a PC I had before. It seems like an installation problem not being able to install the IP printer automatically.
Any help would be highly appreciated, thanks!

It could be that your router does not support Bonjour or it is not enabled.  Go into the router settings and look for mDNS or Bonjour and make sure it is enabled.

  • E4200 - PCs don't see each other and printer on USB port not working

    I been around tech all my life. Acquired by MS when they had only 2000 employees. I don't get excited about tech. Its a tool to help you do something better, excluding games. I had the linksys wrt54... with booster antennas. Worked great, but could not reach one room, the furthest away. Even though I retired 10 years ago I do some private work for fun. I was required to change from 16bit WEP to WPA. My WRT54 just missed the cut off so I went and bought the best home product they had;
*I have 8 computers and connecting them was time consuming *The computers with same settings don't all see each other. The printer port USB off the hub is a great idea if it worked. They have an upgrade to fix this but ever time I try to install the firmware it fails.

In reference to the issue that you are facing I would like to recommend you few things.
For computers to see each other on the network and to share information they have to be in the same work group, file sharing should be enabled on all the computers and they have to be in the same network. If you are still facing issues, try to disable the firewall on the computers.
As far as your printer is concerned, I would like to know whether you are trying to install the printer with the help of cisco connect, if yes, then please try to upgrade the latest version of cisco connect and then follow the link below.

  • Can't print via USB using my Officejet 4635 from iMac running 10.6.8

I bought this HP Officejet 4635 all-in-one printer yesterday and can't get it to print via USB.  I have an iMac running OS 10.6.8.  So far I'veI tried all the suggestions I could find on these forums (ex: downloaded the latest driver, unplug/replug the power, unplug/replug the usb, delete and "ADD PRINTER" again, etc....) The computer does recognize the printer, but shows "Unable to send print data" after I click on print.  I know that the printer works fine because I was capable to email the document directly to it's personal email address.   Please help!

  • Joy of Print Servers; USB success

I administer a Netware 4.11+sp9 network, small by most standards. We
also have Internet capability, using a commodity-quality Linksys router
as a DHCP server, for most IP addresses. Our Netware server, however,
    runs IPX exclusively.
I have read some of Peter Kuo's advisories that extol the virtues of lpr
(unix) printing, methods I have scarcely ever employed for any Netware
purposes. I suppose there is virtue in that, for interfacing to USB
    printers. It's a point I should investigate.
However, I prefer to use "external print servers." I have done so for
years, satisfying the needs of both Netware printing and Windows
printing. This was always done by connecting said print servers to the
PARALLEL ports of various laser printers.
Meanwhile, I have long avoided the tactic of sharing printers attached
to workstations. I want my printers to work without that crutch.
My print server strategy has been threatened, however, by the
disappearance of parallel-printer-port-equipped printers from the
marketplace. USB is everywhere, at low cost. (Integrated internal
print servers are declined for cost reasons.)
I have used convenient, small StarTech.com print servers, which have
attached directly to the parallel connector inside the case of an HP 6
Laser printer; that's how small those print servers are. But the best
thing about this item is the software; PS Admin has worked reliably and
easily, unlike software I've used to get earlier Netware-compatible
external print servers to work. (Linksys had a bad example in its
    EFSP42 print server.)
So I was delighted to happen upon a USB2.0-compatible print server,
available at NewEgg.com for less than $50USD, that used PS Admin for
configuration purposes. I installed the print server, connecting it to
my old NEC1400 Superscript printer, which probably only complies with
the early USB standard. It all works, both for Netware and Windows
    printing.
For the first time, I have actually printed a conventional Netware print
job to a USB printer. This worked, despite the absence of provision in
NDS administration to configure the "printer" for USB. In fact, said
"configuration" seems to have been completely ignored, fortunately.
I am using conventional queue-based printing. PS Admin made it easy. I
even got to use my own names, for devices, queues, etc. And those same
names showed up in my NDS tree, upon later inspection.
I don't have the invoice in front of me right now, which reveals the
make and model of this print server. I'll post that later, when I
    return to my business office.
Hopefully, this "USB success story" will help some other Netware
    enthusiasts.

    Thanks for this definitive answer.
Given Vista's antipathy for IPX, a sense of finiteness..., ensues.
Assuming there is a "desire" for Vista, is an upgrade from Netware 4.11+sp9
to 5, or 6, a remedy? I recall that 5 is "IP only."
Needless to say, if the existing system has *applications* that require IPX,
then we cannot dispense with this protocol, unless we replace those
applications. So, for this hypothetical case, let us assume no such
    IPX-dependent applications exist.
Does queue-based printing still work in 5? I don't manage a large enough
    network to justify NDPS.

  • My HP Envy 4500 is not printing with USB cord

Hi! I recently bought an HP Envy 4500 printer for University and I can only use it with a USB (as University Wifi is private and won't allow printers). Up until now, it has been printing fine with the USB. I tried it today, and it refused to recognize there was a printer. I unplugged, replugged, shut of the printer, shut off the laptop, everything, but it refused to connect. it says "printer is not connected" when I tried to print class notes. I don't have any software on my computer, I'm pretty technologically challenged so I didn't know if I needed any. Why is this happening? How can I fix it? A printer that doesn't print does me no good, especially since I can't utilize ePrint or wireless. Thank you!

Hi @rlvenkat , and welcome to the HP Forums.
I see you're having issues printing via USB cable.  I would love to help!
I would suggest unplugging the USB cable, and deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP ENVY 4500 series Full Feature Software and Drivers, and reconnect the cable when prompted.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
