I've noticed changing themes tends to increase RAM a bit with Cinnamon. My guess is that it's because Cinnamon isn't flushing previously used themes from RAM. Usually sorted by a reboot.
I have rebooted the computer a few times since messing with the theme. Pretty much I set the theme the first time I booted into Cinnamon and haven't touched it since. I have rebooted the computer at least 5 times since then and I also turn it off every night and the ram usage still stays high. The first code box showing usage at 589 was taken about 2-3 minutes after a reboot, I didn't open any programs or anything other than a terminal emulator to check it.

Neither browser is a light browser when it comes to RAM usage.
I'm not really worried about the browsers being heavy, more just the idle ram usage. I put that up to help show a comparison to fresh start then opening one program.

  • Export file settings to print at ultra-high-resolution: 5000 dpi, 1x1cm

I have a series of files each with a 1024x1024 artboard, with different patterns on each one.
I need to export them to be printed at ultra-high-resolution (5000 dpi, with a physical size of about 1cm x 1cm) to be used with a particular kind of new micro-optic technology.
How do I export the vector images to be rendered properly for printing at a specific dpi, and a specific size?

I understand the math better now, but am still stuck on how to set the size using File>Export.
When exporting as a JPEG file, for example, I have the following options:
If I enter 5000 ppi in the Resolution field (or even 2400), I get an error that Illustrator can't export at that high a resolution. I tried opening the Illustrator files directly in Photoshop, but the images are distorted and unusable as they appear there.
I don't see any options to set the image size to 2000x2000 pixels upon export. Sorry if I am being obtuse--I feel I must be missing something very basic here!

  • Where Can I Find iTunes 10.1 (or slightly higher) To Download??

Where can I find iTunes 10.1 (or slighter higher) to download?
    I have a G4 iMac running 10.4.11 and iTunes 9.2
I have got a iPhone 3g which requires iTunes 10.1 or greater to be able to sync.
I cannot d/l the latest iTunes as it requires OS10.5 and my system will only support up to OS10.4.11
So I need a version  of iTunes 10.1 which hopefully will work with 10.4.11
    Many thanks.....

You won't. Tiger will only run iTunes 9.2.1 or lower.  You will need to upgrade your operating system to Leopard or higher to run iTunes 10.
I am not sure about your system only supporting up to Tiger  -- I've seen reports about people running Leopard on even the oldest G4 Macs.  To get more information about your computer, go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac", then "More Info..."  Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).

  • In Aperture 2 I could set a print quality of "high" or similar, I don't see such a choice in Aperture 3.  I'm using an Epson Stylus 2200.  Is there such a choice?

In Aperture 2 I could set a print quality of "high" when printing photos on an Epson 2200.  Now I'm using Aperture 3 with the same printer.  I don't see a similar choice and I'm getting banding issues on the prints.  The photos print much too fast. How do I correct this?

    Thanks for the input!
Restarting the computer was the obvious first thing to try, but had no effect.
I have over 2GB free memory and still experiencing the issue.
It does take a few seconds to load the Live View for the first time, but that's not my problem. My problem is that with Live View already loaded, it takes over 30 seconds after saving changes to the php file before I can see the changes in the Live View (I'm clicking the refresh button once a second, and on the thirty something time I'll finally see my changes).
With "Preview Using Temporary Files" turned off, I get the behavior I've been describing.
Turning "Preview Using Temporary Files" on does actually mitigate the issue for me, though, so thank you for that suggestion!
         - I can see changes in my Live View instantly after saving and clicking the refresh button.
         - I can see changes using Preview in Browser instantly too... but the browsers refresh button has no effect (which makes sense since the temporary file it's looking at hasn't changed).
         - I can actually get some work done now.
However, I still feel that I should be able see my changes in Live View immediately after saving and clicking the refresh button without using "Preview Using Temporary Files", and I'd like to be able to leave the page open in my browser and just click the browser's refresh button to see my recently saved changes instantly.
    So Long Story Short:
Using "Preview Using Temporary Files" has definitely helped!
But I still have no way to see my changes immediately without using temporary files, so something still seems fishy.

  • IPad2 home button slightly higher than screen

    Hello,
the home button of my iPad2 is slightly higher than the glass of the screen.
This makes an uncomfortable feeling when running a fingertip over it.
The button also seems to shiver a bit at its edges.
Is that a common Problem or just a fault with my iPad?
    Best regards
    Peter

I have the same issue. I have noticed that mine only does it when I am in the Mail application. Does yours do it in any other App?

  • Print Sizes Slightly Off - i.e.  8x10 prints as 7.9x10

I'm using a MacPro OSX 10.6.6. running Aperture 3. Camera is a Canon 1DsMkIII with raw capture. After prepping image I crop to 8x10 or 5x7 (for example) in Aperture. I then print to Epson 9880. Commonly my prints come out slightly smaller than 8x10, 5x7 or whatever I"m printing. This happens both in roll and custom paper sizes. In the print dialog in Aperture I have used crop to fill and not used it. I have used preset 8x10 and custom 8x10. Get the same outcome each time. I have taken same image and output to PS4. Printed no problem. Anyone else having this issue? I've tried all combinations and still get it. Frustrating. Thanks for insight.

If the 8" side prints as 7.9" then the side shorted is the short side. In other words, it's the shorter side which is printing too short -- right?
If you print using the "Standard" setting in the print dialog, once with the orientation (in the Layout section) set to Landscape and another time with the orientation set to Portrait, is the same side short-printed?
Fishing ... are you sure you have selected a color profile for your printer? (Looking for something set in Aperture different than what you have set in PS.)
Still fishing ... you might install a second instance of the printer driver and see what happens. And it wouldn't hurt to run a repair of your Library.
Is your monitor set to an unusual resolution?

  • Sapscript label prints - problem with high print quantity

    Hello,
we are printing labels out of deliveries using sapscript.
To allow print copies, I have set the DIALOG to 'X' on the function call for OPEN_FORM (see below).
We usually print 1 copy for each label. It is working fine for low quantities like for example we print out five labels with a copy for each label.
But for higher quantities, for example 25 labels with a copy for each label, it is still printing out all labels, but on the copy labels, certain information are just missing. Strange thing is, the missing information all have different source tables or text fields. For example the date of the delivery is not showing up, then our part number or the shop order number entered as text field on item level of the delivery.
Is there any setting that could cause this issue? Any other suggestions?
    Thanks
    Anne

  • Printing issue (slight red hue)

I have an older printer, a canon i960. Prints great photos, but they all have a very very slight red hue to them that is noticeable predominantly in the skin tones. Blues, for example, look fine. This happens no matter what application I print from. I set the printer for colorsync profile, but it seems to do it also when I used the printer profile as well. I can do color correction in the printer settings: cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Reducing the magenta by about 5% has no effect and might even be worse. Rather than correcting each photo in photoshop to compensate for the printer, anyone have any suggestions?

Since you've tried printing in different applications, this lets us know it isn't just iphoto having a problem. I would narrow it down to the printer. Definitely check the ink levels and if those are fine, I'd consider contacting the manufacturer of your printer. Seems like you've tried a lot of good troubleshooting steps already.

    Hi MMSINC,
You might try printing the checks with the Print Quality option set to Draft Mode.  See Page 30.  Does that help?

  • HT1115 Separate mouse button on 2009 macbook air is clicking on left hand side and seems to sit slightly higher than right?

Hi, i have a 2009 Macbook air, it has developed the problem above. Although it is the 2009 model it remained sealed and boxed until february last year,it has not had that much use so i am surprised that it had developed a problem after less than 1 years use.

    James,
Sorry I am so lengthy. The problem is that with the technical support guy on line, when the Mouse button 4 event occurred I described to the tech that I was pushing and pulling the mouse from the back end to avoid touching the buttons on the side and every time I rolled the mouse a few inches forward the dashboard assigned to mouse button 4 appeared and next when I rolled it back the dashboard disappeared, I rolled it forward and it reappeared and so on. Then the tech wanted me to click on the apple and go into system preferences and as my cursor touched the file menu to get to the preferences that menu dropped without me left clicking the mouse. As I passed over edit and view they just dropped down.
What do you make of that? I am presently running OSX leopard without my printer and scanner installed. If I see no problem in two days, I will plug in the printer and install it. Then after that the scanner and see if the problem happens. I will follow your suggestions about relearning the mouse though.

  • Why is my bill slightly higher

Ive paid the same amount for months and months. This month, my bill is $2 higher. I know its only $2 but why? No services have changed and when looking at the breakdown, the additional amounts are in the broadcast TV fee and state sales tax. Why the additonal amount and is this going to keep surprising me every month?

    Hello Iam911,
The Broadcast TV Fee is an itemized charge to defray a portion of the rising costs of retransmitting broadcast television signals. As the cost of retransmission imposed by broadcasters continues to increase, we are adjusting the amount of the Broadcast TV Fee to continue to defray a portion of those increases. Broadcast stations are allowed by the government to charge for their signals, and providers like Comcast are required to pay substantial fees in order to carry their stations. In recent years, our cost to retransmit broadcast television signals has more than doubled.

  • Hi guys! I have a question related to the latest version of iMovie. For some reason, when I drag a video file to my project, the audio becomes slightly higher pitched. Any suggestions on how to avoid this? Thanks!

This is iMovie 10 I believe. Thanks again!! Really appreciate the help!

To do this in iMovie 11. use the SHARE menu. Share your project using the Share menu and choose Export Using QuickTime.
In the Dialog box that comes up, choose Sound to AIFF, or one of the other sound options. This will create a file that you can drag into iTubes.

  • High volume Printing for GLM?

I understand from various sources GLM can support high volume label output provided the correct enhancements and support packs are installed and configured.  This may include updates to WWI.  We are currently running ECC6 EHP5, SAP_BASIS 10, EHSM 3, WWI 2.7
I would like to get this communities inputs.  Our requirement is to generate >2000 identical labels via GLM.  WWI processing today is long (5+min) and the output is large.  Ideally system would generate 1 label with indication to print 2000 times.  Our labels include barcodes and symbols and can be complex.

    Dear Richard,
The functions of GLM is well explained as Christopher said and using GLM, you can print labels more than 10000 witha  sequential data output. To support such large quanitity of data to be printed on labels, you may need a special printers like the Zebra High volume printer. The WWI server is equipped to print large volume of labels using specific printer plugins.
High volume printers can be used to print print requests with print files that are too large or that contain more than 32,768 labels to be printed. The HVP is designed as a printer driver for Microsoft Windows and is connected to the label printer via a plug-in.
With the HVP, only one page with all static data is sent to the printer. The HVP then receives all of the sequential data via an interface and automatically supplements the sequential data in the printout. The HVP also integrates changing bar codes or texts in the printout.
The Zebra 170Xi4 is one of most popular, industrial-strength printers on the market. This rugged metal unit prints 1-color labels up to 6.6" wide, with 300 dpi print resolution in thermal or thermal transfer mode. Its extra processing power equates to speeds up to 12 inches-per-second. This one is perfect for tough applications including compliance labels, product labels, and shipping labels.

  • First page prints higher than others

I'm modifying a check RTF template for EBIS R12 that was given to me and I've been able to get everything working except for one thing - the first page of output prints one line higher than all the rest. Has anyone ever experienced this before? I'm quite new to XML design so I'm sure I've just missed something simple. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hi,
this is due to grouping or for loop function rtf if u eliminate those also u need to decrease the font size of those tags to 1

  • I had new roller kit installed on my laser 3500N. Now it prints about 1/4" to high on paper

How can I fix printing 1/4" high on paper since I had new roller kit installed.  Tech can't solve problem.  Is there adjustment in printer paper path?

Download the installer for the version of Photoshop you have a licence for and install Photoshop using the download and your serial or subscription sign in.  Photoshop should be installed on your Boot disk....
