Print issue from Illustrator CC

When attempting to print to the Multifunction (bypass) tray on a Canon copier, the paper is pulled from tray one.  Is there a setting in Illustrator CC that is over-writing the print driver settings?

AI doesn't care for such stuff. There's probably some "auto" setting somewhere in your driver that tries to detect the paper size and pulls the sheets from the respective stock tray...

  • Printing directly from Illustrator CS4

I'm getting ready to purchase the CS4 web suite.
However, I've had problems printing my projects from Illustrator - and - yes, from translated Acrobat PDF files. The colors are washed out, and the layouts are a bit off on my HP 9600. My HP 9600 worked beautifully with a Postscript driver prior to my installing Safari on my Mac. Since the release of Safari, the Postscript driver is incompatible and HP no longer supports it. A new, 2008 version of the printer didn't solve the "washed out" appearance of my Illustrator files; so I returned it.
Can anybody recommend a professional (workhorse) printer (no larger than 13" x 19") that can print accurately from Illustrator - that doesn't involve a "pat my head, rub my tummy" workaround?

Thanks! I did reposte to the indesign forum. I just though that maybe someone in the type forum ran across this issue. Thanks so much!

  • Printing directly from Illustrator

When printing directly from Illustrator is there a way to have the dimensions printed along with crop marks and other standard marks that are available on the print dialog screen?
    Thanks,
    S

With some adjusting the artwork actually prints ok, not great, but not as bad as the text, which I created outlines but still fuzzy.
After doing more research, I don't think my laser printer (Brother 2270DW) is postscript and I can't find a driver for that specific model and for a mac.
I've tried printing eps, opening pdf via preview (which some suggested), print as image, uncheck bitmap, use PCL setting on the printer... nothing seems to work. I guess new printer? Or is there another roundabout way?
    Thanks!

  • Printing Errors from Illustrator CC

I have been having intermitent firmware Error (900.43) on my new Lexmark MS510DN when printing from Illustrator CC. I have upgraded to the most recent version of the firmware and drivers for this printer. Also had this problem with a T642 lexmark printer. when this happens I can save and then open in Acrobat and will print but it I open in Illustrator the affect file will error out again. Called Lexmark and they checked printer settings and could not find anything wrong on the printer end. I am running on a Mac Pro running OS10.9.1. As I stated earlier this only happens every once in awhile and dont create the file any differently than any other.

Thank you Larry!  I had suspected Fiery because of other issues we've had in the past, but figured since we'd recently updated everything (including Fiery) to the latest and greatest that the problems would dissipate.  I'm so glad to hear it isn't just us!
In the meantime, I have some successful workarounds I'm using.  They're not as simple as they should be, but it will get us by until Fiery decides to address this problem.  Right now, I get better results when using Photoshop CC to repaginate or combine PDF before printing.  It seems to be working!
    Thank you!

  • How to export or print PDF from Illustrator with crop and reg marks?

    Hi all,
I realise this is probably a very obvious question, but I've just upgraded from CS3 to CS5.5, and I'm tearing my hair out with the loss of Adobe PDF printer driver. I've looked on forums and can't find this question - prob. so obvious that no one else has asked it.
Can't seem to export as PDF from Illustrator ,only 'save as'. This doesn't give me my crop marks. I've tried putting in crop marks - Effects/Crop Marks - but this places the marks outside my trim, at the edges of my background image, which comes out 2mm all round for bleed purposes.
How can I set crop marks to denote the dimensions of the page size, regardless of how much crap I've got spilling out over the edges for bleed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers!
PS: Bring back the PDF Printer Driver pleeeease!

You can turn on crop & trim marsk when doing a save as to PDF. But turn on some bleed values greater than 0 (not  as in my screenshot) or you will not get any bleed of your artwork, just the marks then.

  • Printing crooked from Illustrator CS2

When I print from Illustrator CS2, from my Mac OS X, on my HP All in One Printer the document prints crooked on the page. The printer is brand new (I bought it two weeks ago.) I checked to see if other applications were printing crooked too: Word prints fine, Adobe Photoshop prints fine. Any suggestions on what the problem might be, and how to fix it?

So I have narrowed it down to something PS is doing to the file on output. Even when I output a PDF from the same PS file I get the haloed fonts. When I recreate the same art in InDesign or Illustrator the fonts are razor sharp.
    Weird.

  • Printing Issue from ITS with a Reverse Proxy Configured

    Hi experts,
We have an enterprise portal landscape which  can be accessed from the internet. The URLs are mapped using apache server as a reverse proxy. Also, we have configured the reverse proxy settings for accessing R/3 systems.
When the users try to take the print out from the ITS Web GUI accessed through the enterprise portal, the page redirects itself to an only internally resolvable host name of the R/3 ITS.
Due to this issue, users are not able to take prints from internet.
I would like to know if there is any way by which i can change this to my externally resolvable reverse proxy host address, which in turn can be mapped internally to the original host name at the reverse proxy level.
Can any one help me out in this?
    Thanks a lot

  • Printing issue in Illustrator

Hey all. One of my users is having an issue whenever she prints a multi page document in illustrator (usually on 11x17). Prior to printing, each page of the document is rotated from portrait to landscape, and then the document is saved. Once printed, the first page of the document is correct, but all of the subsequent pages are oriented for portrait, and of course this leaves half of the page cut off. The only things we've tried so far have been changing settings within the print dialog (selecting certain pages and page layout) without a change or fix. I'm not wanting to waste paper, but I'd love to find a fix that doesn't involve throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Does anyone have an answer for this? Thanks!

(tested issue Adobe CS3 on intel Macs running both 10.5.8 and 10.6.2)

Why don't you do it the other way and not rotate to landscape. Just leave it as portrait. The printer doesn't care.

  • Printing PDF from Illustrator CC

I often open PDF files from customers with Illustrator to modify them when pagination or page position is incorrect.  I have been doing this in Illustrator for many years without issue, but since the CC upgrade, Illustrator invariably quits when I try to print.  Sometimes the print actually goes through to the printer, but I have to relaunch Illustrator CC and reopen my file to continue every time.
    I am using:
    Illustrator CC 18.0.0
    Mac OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
iMac 27" 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 with 20 GB RAM
Xerox Color 550 (with 550-560 Integrated Fiery)
Any ideas?  Anyone else experiencing this issue?  Any advice would be much appreciated.
I can be emailed at [email protected] as well.
    Thank you.

  • Printing issues in Illustrator with HP Designjet Z6100

I am using Illustrator CS5 on a mac running Lion 10.7.2. Printing to an HP Designjet Z6100. Getting muddy colors. We also have PCs on which we run the same version of AI using the same color management settings, to the same HP printers. We can't match the great color we get off the PC when printing from the Mac. The color management settings on the mac are: color handling=let AI determine color; printer profile=Adobe RGB (1998), on PC SRGB IEC61966-2.1; rendering=relative colormetric. Virtually the same as the PC settings. Running on a network, not sure the software there, but it is PC based.
I have gone to HP, Apple and Adobe without much success. Anyone have this workflow setup, and are you successfully printing great color from your Mac to the HP designjet Z6100, or Z6200?
Any advice would be great! Thanks much,
    Janis @ T&C Graphics

    A few observations:
    "I am using Illustrator CS5 on a mac running Lion 10.7.2. Printing to an HP Designjet Z6100. Getting muddy colors.     - It may help to update all of your applications on the Mac side ( if you haven't already );
    - Your color settings are not the same, on the Mac you selected Adobe RGB; on the PC you have sRGB;
    - What are your CMYK settings?
"I have gone to HP, Apple and Adobe without much success. Anyone have this workflow setup, and are you successfully printing great color from your Mac to the HP designjet Z6100, or Z6200?"
    - I've managed a large format shop where we had PC's and Mac's printing to a HPDesignjet5500, but I was going through a calibrated RIP ( Wasatch 5 ).  Your solution may come down to simply calibrating the printer.  But, I would go a step further and establish a calibration system including a spectrometer.  The HP Z6100, I believe, has an internal spectrometer.  And, I believe HP has an optional Postcript Level 3 RIP.  If you have those 2 elements ( the RIP and the spectrometer ), then you can build your own .icc profile(s) for the printer(s) and paper(s) you commonly use in your workflow.
You did not mention if you had calibrated the RIP or HP Z6100 driver.  If not, I would start there.  Unfortunately, with every iteration of Mac OS's, Adobe application versions, and even HP's update program, there may be something you've overlooked somewhere along the way.  You have to look at certain variables when dealing with printer output.  What may look good to you may not be the most accurate color and, vice versa, what may not look good to you may be accurate color.  The key is establishing an objective and you will get that when you do a thorough system calibration.  I hear over and over that people cannot match what they see on their monitor to what they get in their printer output.  Few ( and I'm not saying you are one of them ) have done a thorough system calibration.  Now, if you've established via a thorough system calibration, that the PC to HPZ6100 is more accurate, then you've isolated the problem to the Mac OS.  The decision now comes down to, Do I dump the Mac for the PC?  Perhaps not, but I wouldn't rule it out.  On the other hand, you may establish that the PC is inaccurate, therefore the Mac should be your point system.  This is all guess work until you calibrate both systems and establish an objective workflow.

  • Printing issues from InDesign CS4 pdf file

    Good morning,
Could you help explain and possibly resolve an issue I'm having with an InDesign CS4 pdf file where the text and image drop shadows (40%) are printing as solid black blocked shapes from a large format printer. The file encompasses 1 overall image, 1 image with drop shadow, 3 text frames with drop shadow effect applied to the text and 1 group set of simple rectangular and ellipse objects with a glow.
My colleagues in graduate school experienced the same with their files and the output bureau's rasterized the pdf file in Photoshop where it printed out with good resolution. Shouldn't this be resolved first in InDesign rather than rasterizing the file?
I appreciate any help and insight you could offer myself and my colleagues.
    Thank you, Kathryn

The printing service uses Acrobat 8 Pro and HP large format printer. My InDesign CS4 document is in the color mode of RGB and color type as Process. I saved it as a pdf file using the standard settings as follows: Preset: High Quality Print, Standard: None and Compatibility: Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3). Are there options I should be paying more attention to when creating the PDF file? Also, I was reading up on Peter Spier's response links.
This brings me to the next question...I'm creating a photo book for grad school with approximately 40 pages of images (RGB, 300dpi) with feathered drop shadows. What would be the best settings to use when exporting as a pdf file for printing services?
    Thank you for your help.
    Kathryn

  • Print picture from Illustrator Community Hewlp

I would like to print out thr Tool Panel Overview picture for Illustrator CS5 as found in Community Help. Can't get it to print. Tried copy and paste to no avail. Any suggestions?

    You mean this:
You should be able to right-click (Windows) or Control-Click (Mac) with your mouse in the image and then choose "Save Image As". Then save the image to your computer, open it with a graphics program, and print it.

  • Printing issues from XP to Mac

    Hi
I am trying to print from pc laptop running XP Home to shared printer on iMac, running 10.4.5. I can not get it to work. When I run the Bonjour wizard it finds the printer, Epson R300, no problem. Set up seems fine. I print and it certainly gets sent somewhere - I can even see the log on the mac receiving it - it says POST so assume it is trying to forward the print correctly - but nothing happens. No error on the printer either.
    Any ideas?

ok. sorted it. Just in case anyone else made this stupid error. I was selecting the epson driver and not the generic postscript. Not clear why it uses a generic postscript driver but it works. Perhaps someone could explain it to me?

  • Printing issue from Indesign CS 5.5

    Hello,
I have several users using Indesgn CS5.5 on Windows XP machines.  They are all printing to the same printer and the printer has the same name (mapped locally to the machines).  Once someone opens the Indesign file and edits the file, the others are no longer able to print the file.  They go in and print it and it claims that it was sent, but the printer never shows any activity of the print job coming in.

This sounds more like some type of network issue than an InDesing problem...

  • Printing issues from 10.3.9 using Xserve 10.4.11

We have 2 Xserves (1 G5 and 1 Intel). Both of them are running 10.4.11 with all updates installed. The printers are managed from the server for students. Students use eMacs and iBooks that have 10.3.9. Sometimes when students print from a 10.3.9 machine, it won't let them. For example, we have Microsoft Office X with the latest updates and it will say at the bottom of Word connecting to the printer. When this has happened, I have tried to open up Apple's text editor, but when I click on file print, nothing happens at all (so it's not related just to Microsoft). I have found that usually if you login (as a student) and then wait to print for 15 minutes or more, sometimes the students can print right away. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or how I could find out what is causing this to resolve it?
    Thank you in advance.

    1. It isn't. Legally you have to buy another copy of 10.4 to install Tiger on your iMac. There's a chance the iBook disc won't even let you install on the iMac though.
    2. The advantage would be less to download to update to 10.4.3.
