Print issue in PRD server
Dear All,
In our PRD server all the print is going in the waiting state ,,,how to resolve the issue ...as we are using 3 spool work process but the one spool work process is stopped and remaining 2 are free but not doing any thing ,,,plz give any suggestion to resolve the issue.
RABLEEN
Hi Rableen,
Without providing any information it is little bit difficult to give answer for your query. Provide us SP01 Error screen shot for that request.
1. Ensure the printer port should open b/w the user's desktop and the local printer. You can ask the user to pint for any of the word document to check whether he is able to print or not
2. Check in SU01 for that user is having printer access or not
3. Login with User's credentials from your desktop and try to give print whether you are able to print or not
4. Check any network issue b/w SAP Server and Local Printers
As i told you it is not easy thing to give direct resolution. Ask if you have any queries

Dear Team,
We are facing a issue with PRD server.
For last 20 days we restarted the PRD server for 3 times.
1)We restarted the server for TMS issue which is advised by SAP support team in one incident.
2)Another time we restarted the server for the issue in Procedure cache problem in DB which is also advised by SAP support team in another incident.
3)today server is restarted due to VMWare (physical server) problem.
Now i have one doubt how frequently we can restart the server and is there any future issues with this restarting of server.
Please give suggestions on this because this is very critical to us.
Frequently we are restarting the server production server.
Thanks®ards,
Patan Thavaheer.Hi Patan,
Now i have one doubt how frequently we can restart the server and is there any future issues with this restarting of server.
There is no impact on server restart if application and db is shutdown gracefully.
Secondly there are no guidelines for how frequently servers can be restarted.
Please investigate further on the ongoing issue to find out RCA of the issue.

Printing issues when printing to Server 2008 R2 Print Server
We have a problem with netwok printing that encompasses many different areas and versions of Windows OSes so I will be posting this in a few different places.
Let me lay this out for you. We have a single Server 2008 R2 print server with 300 printers of various models. This print server has both 32 and 64-bit drivers installed for every printer. For the HP printers we are using the HP Universal Printing PCL 6
(version 61.94.3.37) and for the Ricoh printers we are using their PCL6 driver for universal printing version 3.5. All drivers run in Isolation mode and no printer gets published to AD.
We have a mix of Windows clients printing to these printers, both XP Pro and Windows 7 32 and 64-bit.
Now for the problems: The other day one Isolation host on the server went crazy, processing was hitting 100% and memory was fluctuating and growing a lot. After investigating a little that isolation host was having issues accessing the Ricoh Driver (which
was 3.4 at the time). In an attempt to resolve the issue we updated the driver to V. 3.5. This seemed to fix the isolation issues and things calmed down however this is the beginning of many other issues for the clients. Both Windows OS versions (XP and 7)
don't seem to be either downloading and installing the updated driver and/or doing so correctly. Clients are now experiencing extremely slow printing, applications such as Word, Outlook, Excel and others open slowly and it can take 2-3 minutes for print dialog
boxes to open. In all cases it seems that we have to have a tech delete the printer(s), delete the driver and then re-install the printer to make things better but for some reason, which is really unknown, this process doesn't work for every machine and on
some we can't even remove the old drivers at all without booting into SafeMode and doing it that way.
With all of that said, are there any suggestions as to why the clients aren't downloading and installing the drivers from the server correctly? How to avoid these issues when we need to upgrade the drivers on the server in the future? Most importantly right
now, are there any recommendations or scripts on how to force the deletions of the printer, driver, reset the print spoolers and then re-add the printers in a more automated fashion?
I have played with both wmic, pnputil and printuidll and am trying to put something together but without a set solution that will work consistently it becomes a lot more difficult. We are experiencing a very similar issue.
Windows Server 2008 R2. Printers are deployed over group policy.
Clients range from Windows 7 to Windows 8. Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp environment also connects to these endpoints.
We have A wide assortment of HP printers, and Ricoh Printers.
For the ricoh's we have been historically using the PCL6 drivers for the individual device type (not universal print). Up till recently, it all was working fine, until about some time in the middle of june, when everything just seemed to go crazy.
The issue was resolved by moving off from the PCL 6 drivers and using the PCL5e driver counterparts on all of our ricoh printers.
It would crash XenDesktop applications, it would crash office applications.
The print spooler would lock up, even if the ricoh printers were not actually used, just as long as they were loaded.
Even after loading PCL5 on the servers, some of the clients would simply not download the PCL5 version of the driver from the print server. In order to resolve this, I have created the steps below. Be advised, this may possibly cause damage on your system.
We just found it worked great for us. Local printers will likely have to be manually reinstalled after this.
Directions
Stop the print spooler
Open C:\Windows\System32\Spool and delete the following
All files in SERVERS
All files in PRINTERS
All files in drivers
All files in prtprocs
Start the print spooler
Open a command prompt as administrator, and run the following command
Cscript C:\windows\system32\Printing_Admin_Scripts\en-US\prndrvr.vbs -x
This should further delete all print drivers.
Open a command prompt as a standard user (not administrator) and run the following
Gpupdate
Now wait. It takes a while, but the printers will slowly start to repopulate.
I am still not sure what is going on with the PCL6 drivers for ricoh, and why this issue is happening. I'm guessing it has something to do with the Ricoh auto update that is included in their pcl6 drivers. Maybe some sort of auto update happened recently. -
Label Printing issues on Crystal Reports Server
I built a label that prints off beautifully on my local machine with Crystal XI installed. However, when I post the label to the reports server, and a user tries to print it off, it prints off two blank labels behind each good label. I have racked my brain on this for days. The printer settings are identical to my local machine. Any idea what might be causing this?
I think the following information might help you
Symptom
A label report was viewed over the web using the Web Component Server, and printed on a label maker printer DYMO 330. The labels were being resized to 8 1/2 x 11 instead of printing the size of the label. Even after selecting the correct size, the labels print one per page, followed by 3 blank labels.
When printing was done through a distributed report or the report designer, the labels printed to the correct size and only printed one label with no blank labels.
What is causing the label report to print incorrectly when printed from the web viewer?
Resolution
Steps to Resolve
1. Open the report in the Crystal Reports 8 designer on the web server.
2. Click on 'File' then click 'Printer Setup'. If a printer is already selected then set it to 'No Printer', click 'OK', then save the report.
3. Click on 'File' then click 'Printer Setup' again. Select the default printer and clear the 'Default Properties' checkbox.
4. Click 'OK' and save the report.
5. Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel > Services and double click 'Seagate Page Server' service. Set this service to run under an 'Administrator' account.
6. Stop and restart the service, and close down all browsers.
The label reports now will print successfully over the web.
Background
Incorrect printing from a web viewer can have several causes, including:
· The report is designed with a designated printer, but the encapsulated page format (EPF) files are being created in 'No Printer' mode.
· The server does not have access to the printer.
· A valid printer is not saved with the report on the server.
· The printer driver is not installed on the server.

Serial Number overlapping in PRD server
Hi Friends,
In DEV Server the program is working fine. But in PRD Server, the serial no of the last digit is
getting interchanged when taking print out!
How to solve this issue?
Regards,
K.S.Kannan.
Edited by: kannan ks on Nov 18, 2008 11:19 AMDear Friends,
in my career earlier stage, i post this question. and also i got the solution long before. and now i update the solution for my issue .
this is my question
Using smartforms i design the layout ( installation certuificate), in that need to display serial no field .
In development server the output of the serial no is come good. after testing all cases we move the request from Development to Quality server. in Quality server also display the serial no come good as its in DEV server. but in PRD server in the output
last no of the serial no( is overlapped) .
Solution
in SPAD settings check the corresponding device type SAPWIN in both QAS and PRD.
save & activate in QAS and move the transport request from QAS to PRD.
and we check the output in PRD and found Ok
Thanks

Remote Desktop Connection and printing issues
Hi,
I am using Windows 7 on my desktop and also connected to Windows Server 2008 R2 to run applications in Windows Server. However, I noted there is problem with the printer issues. Sometimes, when I tried to print some documents using applications
in Windows Server with my local printer in my room connected to desktop, it won't work.
Moreover, I need to go to Windows Server, Component Service to restart printer spooler so it will work again. This is a pain.
I also noticed there is about 30 seconds wait to process any document to print.
Unlike if I print documents directly from my local desktop computer running Windows 7 and connected to local printer, it only takes seconds to print.
My desktop is connected to Windows Server 2008 via local area network. I should not expect such a significant delay in printing.
I also wonder why printer spooler needs to be restarted when printer is not working.
Can anyone advise me about this? Can Microsoft looks into this problem and release updates to fix the bug to improve the system?
Thanks
Regards,
ClementHi,
Please check if you turn on this settings:
You need to set this up just before you connect. The setting will be saved so that you won't need to change it the next time you connect.
1. Open Remote Desktop Connection by clicking the Start button, clicking
All Programs, clicking Accessories, and then clicking
Remote Desktop Connection.
2.Click Options, and then click the Local Resources
tab.
3.Under Local devices and resources, select the Printers check box.
4.Click Connect to start the session.
Make sure that you select your printer in the Print dialog box each time you print.

Slow network printing on Windows 2008 Server
Hi,
We are just testing/configuring a Windows 2008 (x64) server to replace an aging Windows 2000 file & print server.
I have added the print services role and added a network TCP/IP printer (a HP Laserjet 2200).
When I print to this printer from either the server (via print test page) or from a client, it takes around 30 seconds before the print will start to print. On our Windows 2000 server, this would print immediately.
I have insalled the HP 2200 driver that came with Windows 2008.
Anyone any ideas where to find the problem causing the delay?
Thanks,
KennyHello,
I have done some research and I find firewall component of the antivirus software such as Mcafee might cause similar network delay issues.
If you have installed AV softwares on Windows Server 2008, please try uninstalling it temperately and test whether this will make any difference.
Moreover, You could also try disabling TCP Chimney Offload, RSS, Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level on Windows Server 2008 one by one to see whether it makes any difference.
To disable TCP Chimney Offload, follow these steps:
a. Use administrative credentials to open a command prompt.
b. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
netsh int tcp set global chimney=disabled
To disable RSS, follow these steps:
a. Use administrative credentials to open a command prompt.
b. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
netsh int tcp set global RSS=disabled
To disable 'Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level', follow these steps: :
a. Use administrative credentials to open a command prompt.
b. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
I hope this helps. Thanks.

Printing issues in Windows 8.1
Hello,
I work for a company and we have a number of network printers shared, when we connect to a network printer it installs the driver and everything is fine and normally this is the end of it but recently I have one user who is having print issues. It seems
as though every time he takes his laptop home and brings it back he is unable to print, the printers show offline or the job appears to print but never does. Today we got this error when attempting to print a test page " Test page failed to print. Would
you like to view the printer TS for assistance? The server print spooler service is not running" which it was because I had stopped and started it several times already. Finally I was able to delete the network printers and reinstall them as a temporary
fix but history has demonstrated that once he take this laptop home the problem will reoccur. I read and re-read most of the come close to describing my issue but not completely.
Thanks,
OSAMTECevery time he takes his laptop home and brings it back he is unable to print, the printers show offline or the job appears to print but never does.
Could there be a naming conflict?
Otherwise it looks as if there is a troubleshooter for printer and other loosely associated categories. Have you tried them?
BTW I'm curious if WMIC could be used here. As I just mentioned in another incident these look interesting:
C:\>wmic.exe /? | find /i "print"

Could you type “route print“ on CMD, and post the result here?
It would be helpful if you may describe the phenomenon of the problem? such as changes before the problem occurs, any prompt error message, related operations except for these logged Event ID.
You may reference the link below for reference.

Thanks Eve! I appreciate your attempt to help. I inadvertently posted my reply for the Route table without quoting you first. Sorry about that.
As far as the problems go, time to logon to server > 5 minutes. Group Policy issues abound. DNS issues (as mentioned). Thought I had an easy one for you. Sorry about that.
I have one client computer running Windows 7x64 (call it My Workstation) that I back the server and other client PC's up to. The clients have no problem, but after a day or two, the server can no longer "see" the My Workstation and the backup fails.
But then when I reboot the My Workstation, the server "sees" it again!
Furthermore, I backup a 10TB RAID 6 array on
My Workstation to yet another client for redundancy (Call it WORKSTATION2-PC), but if I try to click on the computer icon in Windows Explorer for WORKSTATION2-PC, I get the error "Windows cannot access \\WORKSTATION2-PC. However if I type in
the ip address or WORKSTATION2-PC, I have no problems.

Print Issue in VS 2010 Crystal Report Version 13.0.1.220
Hi Friends,
I am new user for SAP crystal report,
can any one help me for
Print Issue in VS 2010 Crystal Report Version 13.0.1.220Font must be True Type and on the WEB server where the report is being processed.
Run Process Monitor and see if your app is loading the Font....
Typically if the characters show up as a box it means either the font you are using does not support UNICODE characters, it's not installed so font substition is done but the font used doesn't have the Glyph's required or there is a permission issue with the font being instlaled under a local User account and should be installed under the Admin account.
Also, Search for Font and Windows Framework, there are known limitations with .NET Framework and some fonts.
What font are you using?

Hi, We have a new Mac Pro Tower we just purchased with Snow Leopard 10.6.7. We are using Adobe Indesign CS4 Version 6.0.6. I have an Indesign project that I need to print to our Canon ImagePress C1 with a fiery. I go to File>Print, then it shows it's kind of preparing it to be sent to our printer. After about 30 seconds the printer window pops up and it says: spooling for about another 30 seconds and then the printer puts this job on pause. Below is the console logs from this users machine: Where you see "username" I removed the person's name for security.

This canon printer has worked seamlessly when we had Leopard 10.5 using CS4. It's only been since we received the new Mac Pro Tower. The Canon printer has a Fiery attached and we use the latest driver for that Fiery. All the images in this file are .tiff's. The user does have Pre-Flight on and the Print Preset: Custom, Printer: Canon Color Printer, PPD: Canon iPR Server T1 Ver.1.0. I set up the printer in the Print & Fax Dialog using the IP address, with LPD Protocol, Queue name blank (as we never had to really use one in the past). and Print Using the iPR Server T1 driver. Rebooted the Mac, ran disk utility from the CD. I have been working on this issue for a couple of days now and found many troubleshooting tips on the internet but none have worked. Is there something in the new OS X Snow Leopard that is not working with CS4 Indesign now? Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thank you! What fonts are you using? Are they PS Type1 by any chance? The update to 10.6.7 has introduced some problems with the older Type 1 fonts. Do a Google search for Mac 10.6.7, Type 1 font problem to see some discussions.

Getting font problem for printing form in Production server.
Hi experts,
We are getting problem while printing form in production server. As it gives no problem in Quality server while printing the same, the print is fine. We applied packages from 26 to 28 level for version 4.7. When we moved this packages to Production server we got problem of font while printing the form for some of scripts. But the surprise is that in Quality server the print is fine, no problem at all.
Can any one suggest me on this issue.
Regards,
Sagun Desai.Hi sagun,
Please check the spool request generated on production server using tcode SP01.
Goto dispaly spool request and check the spool. If the spool too displays your script correctly then there is a problem in printer connected to production server.
The printer connected to the test server might be rightly conffigured to print the output. Please check the settings of the printer connected to the production.
Hope this helps.

How are printer issues solved by creating a new login ID in ts?
I have been having printing issues with one user on a terminal Server. I have been trying to figure this out for some time and decided to make a new TS login ID which fixed the issue....At lest appears to have fixed the issue....
Can anyone explain to me how a user's key can leak and cause this types of issues? Or point me to a great article to educate myself...
Thanks,
Andrew
Thanks, AndrewHi Andrew,
à
I have been having printing issues with one user on a terminal Server.
Would you please let me know more details of this printing issue? Did you get any error message? Please also
check Event Viewer if can find some relevant events. When this one user has this printing issue, did other users encounter the same issue?
Meanwhile, would you please let me know how deploy printer for the terminal server? Did you configure printer
redirection settings for terminal server connections via Group Policy?

I have been trying to figure this out for some time and decided to make a new TS login ID which fixed the issue....At lest appears to have fixed the issue....
Based on this description, this issue seems to be related to the user profile. Just my guess.

Unusual InDesign/PDF/Printer Issue
I am currently using InDesign CS3 and Acrobat Professional 8.
I received a CS4 file that I could not open from another designer, he saved it as a .inx file which opened in CS3. I made the changes to the document, relink the images, and when I would export to pdf, the images in the design will print with a faint box around them, when in fact they are images that are cutout (have no background). 3 images are .tiffs and one is a .psd. They all look fine on a computer screen, but when it prints, the box shows up. We printed the pdf on several different printers and on one printer there is a box around those images. On another printer the box is not there. I'm not sure if its an Indesign issue, PDF issue or a printer issue. I've tried exporting it as PDF/X-1a:2001, that didn't work.
Please help! Thanks. The directory structure for the template files are the same for Desktop and Server.
When I open up the PDFs generated by both, doing a side by side comparision, the server looks blurry at 125% zoom level while desktop looks sharp.
