Print jobs goes to HOLD mode in IBM system i when printing from SAP NW 7.0

Hi friends,
Whenever I send the jobs from SAP environment(NW 7.0) to the IBM printers on the network.  The jobs acts like it's going to print  but then goes to HOLD mode.
I have changing the FORMS TYPE but that didn't help nor trying to releasing them again.
We are running SAP NW 7.0 in IBM system i V5R4 and using
IBM infoprt1580 printers.
HELP !     Any tips are well apprieciated !
Thanks.
F. Y.

Hi Frank,
assuming that the spooled file goes into "hold" in the output queue on i5/OS (not in the SAP spooling system), I would suggest that you check the settings in the reply list and spool job for message CPA3394 "Load form type '...' device ... writer ... .". When this message is sent, the default reply is 'H' (= hold), but you probably want to reply 'I' (= ignore). You can use the command ADDRPYLE (or WRKRPYLE) to add an automatic reply of 'I' to this message. Make sure that job description QGPL/QSPLPRTW is set to INQMSGRPY(*SYSRPYL).
If this does not help, another message than CPA3394 might cause the problem. You need to check the QSYSOPR message queue and the joblog of the writer job to find out which message is causing the hold status.
Kind regards,
Christian Bartels.

  • Acrobat Pro XI goes to trial mode and signing in fails when printing (in not Adobe programme)

I'm from Finland and when I joined Creative Cloud, I soon found out that Creative Cloud signing in doesn't work in Finnish even though it is possible to install some programmes in Finnish. So I uninstalled everything and installed all the programmes that I am using in English (International). No problem with that.
So I have also installed my Acrobat Pro XI in English and printing / exporting pdfs works fine as long as I am working within Adobe programmes (e.g. InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator). The programmes sometimes ask me to sign in but it works fine in English.
However, when I am trying to print or convert content in pdfs via webbrowsers or MS Office programmes (I have them in Finnish), I get a "Adobe Acrobat XI trial mode expired" window in Finnish and I am asked to sign in. When I try to sign in (via "Finnish window" which I cannot change in English at this phase), signing in (= Creative Cloud activation) fails, and the programme asks me to give the registration number. And that I don't have as I am using the programme via Creative Cloud!
I have uninstalled Acrobat Pro XI and installed it again and it did not have any effect.
Do you have any solution to this problem? It is very frustrating that printing pdfs succeeds in Adobe programmes only, it shouldn't work like that. (I am using Adobe programmes (installed locally "from the packadge", not via Createve Cloud) at work and printing pdfs works fine there.

Thank you for your reply. I tried this, unfortunately it didn't solve my problem.
I found the correct keys from "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" etc., however, I didn't find the subkey "current" below "Language". I had "UseMUI" and "next" instead. First I tried setting the default UseMUI value to "acrobat.dll". No effect, the same problem came when I tried to print a pdf file using MS Word programme. Then I erased "UseMUI" and created "current" instead and set the default value to "acrobat.dll". No effect but no harm either, it seems.
My operating system is Windows 7 Professional and the language is Finnish. The Microsoft Office programmes that I am using are also Finnish versions. So I do understand that this problems is rooted in the language settings, however, I have no idea how to solve this... I won't change my operating systems in the near future, and I would like to keep on using the Finnish versions of Office programmes...
Is there any other HKEY settings that should perhaps be changed in order to get rid of this problem? Acrobat Distiller settings perhaps? Adobe PDF Maker settings?

  • I want to buy an hp m1536 laserjet for my ipad printing, I believe the printer is not wireless but has sprint. Is the print job going through my wireless router and does that router need to support AirPrint.

I want to buy an hp m1536 laserjet for my ipad printing, I believe the printer is not wireless but has sprint. Is the print job going through my wireless router and does that router need to support AirPrint.

The following model is airprint compatible, is this the one you have?
    HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf MFP
If not the "dnf MFP" model, then no.
The router needs to support the Bonjour protocol.  If not, the airprint won't work.

    Hi,
You cant print to a printer that you physicly turned off. Most network printer have a sleep mode, so leave it on and after a while it should go into a sleepmode. And should wake up when a printjob is being sent.

  • HP PHOTOSMART ALL-IN-ONE 5510 WONT PRINT AFTER GOING TO SLEEP MODE

    My printer model:
    HP PHOTOSMART ALL-IN-ONE 5510 B111A
    Problem:
Printer goes to sleep mode. After 25-30 minutes the wireless connection between the PC and the printer breaks. Blue Wireless light is on even at the sleep mode and I can see that the printer is connected to my router and there is internet connection. HP Print and Scan Doctor sees the printer but I cannot awake the printer unless I restart it.
What I have tried so far:
I have tried all the solutions hp.com offered including; reinstalling driver, updating printer software, setting static IP to printer, setting static DNS servers, using HP Print and Scan Doctor.
I have seen people asked about this question before and there was no solution. I really need HP help!
    This question was solved.

Let’s try this.  Verify in the printer that 'Auto Off' is disabled.  Set a static IP in the printer outside the DHCP range of the router.  Use a fixed wireless channel like 1,6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.  Set router to 20Mhz only, or 145Mbps depending on router.  Always use WPA2-AES encryption.  Power off both.  Power on router wait 3 mins.  Power on printer and verify it reconnects to router.  Now try.

  • Acrobat 7.1.0 multipage print job goes one page at a time

This condition existed before I installed the lastest update but it has not gone away so it must be a setting. When I send a multipage document to my printer (laserjet 4000) from Acrobat Professional the printer will start up (wakeup), print one page, stop the printing process (explained below) and then restart/wakeup and print the next page. It could take 3 or 4 minutes to print a 10 page doc.
By stopping the printing process I mean the display will return to "Ready" the the printer will make that whining down sound like it is completed a print job and stop for 10 seconds or so. It then starts all over.
When I print from any other program the printer starts up and stays running until the print job is complete even if it is 50 pages or so.
    Any thoughts?????
    Thank you in advance!!

Many different factors could be causing this, but there's no way to tell from this end what it could be.
The first thing I always recommend is to check for driver updates online. Even if a newer version doesn't exist, you should download and reinstall the printer driver. Never hurts to do that, and sometimes it solves the problem... especially in cases like yours, where the printer model is old but the software you're working with has continued to be updated. HP seems to have the most trouble across different applications; these printers never seem to be fully compatible with all new software versions, no matter what software it is. Seems like there's always something that doesn't work quite right.
Assuming you've done that and it didn't help, next look at what you're printing.
Is the PDF heavy in graphics? How large are the graphics---what resolution are they and if in color, what color format (I use the demo version of Quite a Box of Tricks plug-in for this: http://www.quite.com/box/)? At what resolution are you printing? Do the images contain transparencies?
Have you (or whoever creates the PDFs) changed any color management options? What happens if you use the Quite plug-in to convert colors to greyscale? (The demo version will place an X over the page but you'll at least be able to tell whether it makes a difference.)
What is the PDF file size? Have you tried optimizing the PDF before printing?
All printers and printer drivers are different, giving different options in the Print dialog, so I can't give you anything very specific to look at there... but look for your print quality option. Is it set to "high" (or "best" or whatever your printer calls it)? If so, change it to normal quality and see if that speeds things up.
Those are just some things off the top of my head that you might want to look at. Please report back with your results.

  • Print Job Goes Through But No Pages Come Out

I am printing wirelessly from my laptop to a printer that is connected by ethernet cable to a timecapsule. It printed fine but havent used it in a while and now when I send a print job it shows in the printer queue and processes normally with no errors but nothing shows up in the printer tray.

If the printer is set for DHCP, ensure the IP address has not changed. Or better still, set a static address for the printer so that you don't have to worry about the printer queue changing.
If the address is correct, try a ping from the laptop to the printer. If you get a reply, disconnect the printers Ethernet and then try pinging again. If you still get a response then you have an addressing issue on your network.
If you don't get a reply with the Ethernet disconnected, then reconnect the Ethernet and turn off the printer. Then power cycle the TC and allow a minute for the network to stabilize. Then power the printer back on and try printing again.

  • Adobe Reader minimizes to system tray when printing as an attachment in Outlook

I have a user that is running Adobe Reader v10.1.2, and MS Outlook v12.0.6668.5000 (2007).  Every time that she opens a PDF attachment in email and prints it, it minimizes to the system tray.  if she saves it to the desktop and prints, it doesn't minimize.
I have deleted everything in her OLK folders, tried printing while in Cached Exchange Mode, and with it turned off.  the problem persists.
    Please advise.  Thanks.

    Thank you for replying.
What is happening is the user receives a PDF attachment in an Outlook email.  She opens the PDF to view (default program for opening PDFs on her computer is Adobe Reader), then clicks the print button in Adobe.  The document prints, but it immediately minimizes to her taskbar and remains minimized unless she clicks on the icon to maximize it again.  if the same PDF is saved to her desktop, opened, and printed, it does not minimize.  We can create this issue at any time on her machine.
I have focused on Outlook since it appears to only happen from this program.  i have deleted temporary files from her OLK folders, tested with Cached Exchange Mode turned off, and ran MS Office Diagnostics (no errors).  I am uncertain where to troubleshoot next, short of deleting her profile on the computer and letting it rebuild.

  • Print to PDF - using Snow Leopard (Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose

i have a PDF form that i created that is used as a custom proposal that my company sends out to potential clients. the form in its editable state is only used internally. we recently upgraded to snow leopard, but prior to the upgrade, we were able to fill the custom proposal form out using adobe reader, and, as you well know, we weren't able to save that edited document as a PDF with the custom form fields filled out. our work around using adobe reader was to print to a pdf using the adobe pdf printer in the printer dialog. with the addition of snow leopard, however, instead of choosing the adobe pdf printer, we were to choose PDF from the bottom left corner, then Save As PDF, and it would spit out an uneditable pdf that then allowed us to email it to the potential client without them being able to edit it as well as have an internal, digital copy for our records instead of having lots of paper floating around (i know this is also doable using security that disallows the client certain editing privileges, but printing to a pdf is much quicker and more efficient, and the pdf security isn't really that secure at its best).
in any case, i came across this gem of a post here on the support forums that installs another option from the PDF drop down on the bottom left of the print dialog menu that reads Save As Adobe PDF and is supposed to do exactly what i am trying to get it to do...print to a pdf file from adobe reader.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/509/cpsid_50981.html
once i updated to acrobat 9.2 (as the link above suggests 9.1), however, the Save As Adobe PDF does appear in the print dialog menu, but it still gives me the same error that acrobat 8 - 9 gave me while using Snow Leopard — Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save — and as i've already explained, you can't save an edited pdf form in reader (as i am the only one in the office with acrobat) and still keep the fields as you've entered them in. the only work around is to print to a pdf but is apparently having some recent problems.
using acrobat, however, i know that i can save the editable pdf as a new file with the fields customized as i have left them, but it still saves it as an editable pdf and the print to a pdf option still remains the best option...that way we have digital copies internally that are uneditable that can be printed at any time or emailed to the client.
how can i do print to a pdf, based on what i've written above, using snow leopard and acrobat and reader?

A simple way is to flatten the form fields, which converts the field appearances to regular page contents. You can do this with JavaScript or PDF Optimizer (Advanced > PDF Optimizer > Discard Objects > Flatten form fields). A very nice script that adds a custom menu item can be found here: http://www.uvsar.com/projects/acrobat/flattener/

  • Print Jobs Stop -- First w Panther, Now w Tiger and New Printer!

I was dealing with multiple problems, so I'm not sure where to start. I was using a G4 with Panther when, among other things, I could no longer print because anytime I sent something to the printer the job would stop. Trying to start it again didn't work. My hard drive crapped out (separate issue I now realize) and I had it replaced w/ a new hard drive installed with Tiger & also purchased a new printer. I installed the new printer (for now I have it connected directly via USB) and to my surprise and chagrin I still can't print for the same reason! The job stops immediately after I send the document to print. Trying to re-start, or deleting and printing again, etc. does nothing. I've been through all the troubleshooting tips on the support page and am at wit's end. The problem doesn't seem to be specific to an application, an OS, or the printer. The Mac guy who set up my new hard drive did save as much as possible from the old one & migrated it to the new. He must have transferred the glitch, but what could it be? Please help.

    Thanks a lot Greg.
I had problems printing to shared printer which was connected to my mac downstairs from my powerbook over airport. Kept on coming up as printer stopped. I turned all off and on, reinstalled drivers, deleted printers, and nothing worked 'till I found your tip.
I love the mac community, keep up the good work.

  • Print to PDF is very slow showing "save as" dialog when printing from Outlook 2013

    Hello,
I'm having a problem with one of my users.  The problem is intermittent.  At first when I was looking at the issue, here is what I saw:
In Outlook 2013, I opened an e-mail.  I then selected Print, selected the Adobe PDF printer, and hit the print button.  There was over a 1 minute delay before the "save as" dialog appeared to ask me where to save the document and what to name it.  I did this for several different e-mails with and without attachments and the problem was consistent.  I saved the e-mail to a local e-mail file and the problem was the same.  This process was over 30 or 40 minutes.  I was pulled away for another issue and now the "save as" dialog pops up within seconds.  The user is complaining that this happens regularly.  I tried a repair, cleared temp files, and was going to try printing from other apps, but then it started temporarily behaving itself, so I can't tell you if the same delay existed in other apps.  I didn't see anything obvious in the event viewer logs.
Has anyone else seen this?  Anyone have an idea on how to troubleshoot this?
    Thanks,
    Jeffery Smith

Thank for your help Bill, but changing settings in the distiller did not seem to work. As my application prints directly to the default application without using anything specific to Acrobat, I was hoping there was a simple way forward. A colleague suggested copying registry entries from the account I logged on as to the S-1-5-18 entry, then rebooting. This had no effect as the prompt still comes up.
Aandi, I don't have the Acrobat SDK or any experience of it.
Also I'm not sure where any code/script would sit since the application is stable and so I would rather not change it.
If it amounts to a few lines of javascript sitting outside the application then that would be of interest.

  • Printing with different aspect ratio (or, How not to crop when print?)

    Hi all,
I'm trying to print 3:2 aspect ratio pictures on 8 1/2 X 11 (US Letter page).
Obviously, it's not the same aspect ratio, so normally fitting such 3:2 image in, -say- photoshop would require me to either CROP the picture or have white BORDERS around it, on either side.
Now, printing in iPhoto will only offer croping, which is definetly not what I want. I can and will live with 2 white bars on my picture; I do own cutting table just for that. But I'm not used to iPhoto.
Quickly, in Aperture I can print as I want it, 2 white bars, whole picture fitting IN the paper (there's also a mode called 'Fill Page'; which is exactly and only what iPhoto is doing).
    *The question:*
Am I missing something out on how to print while fitting the whole image on paper (also called 'Fit Entire Image' in Aperture), while adding white paper bars?
Also, I readed this thread, mostly about it:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1417869
    I knew the maths part.
So what I'm doing as a long workaroung (see below for shorter workaround):
I calculate using the custom Print size (see this screenshot, from user Old Toad, which is exactly what I'm telling about: http://homepage.mac.com/toad.hall/.Pictures/Forum/iP7customprint.png ) manually, so I get as Paper Size : US Letter and as Print size: Custom with these custom settings:
    Width: 11.00 in
    Height: 7.30 in
It's all fine, the print was perfect. But I don't feel like messing each time with these numbers only to print one page.
Quicker solution: import into Aperture (and even there, if you are using RAW in iPhoto, the imported in Aperture is the JPEG based off the RAW ((apparently Aperture cannot understand iPhoto's way of working with RAW, but this is another topic)) ).
Thanks! Sorry, it was quite long for nothing, I'm just really missing the 'Fit entire image' on iPhoto... (that is, if it's non-existing, not if I only just didn't found it yet..)

    Numbers:
    Camera resolution:
    roughly 3008X2000 (Nikon D50)
Paper printed on: good old fasioned 8 1/2 X 11 US Letter sized
Ratio of picture: roughly 1.5 (one size is 1.5 time the other)
Ratio of paper: around 1.29 (one size is 1.29 time the other)
The picture overflows in lenght of the paper (iPhoto take the picture's width and places it 8.5 in wide, so technically the paper size should be 12.75 to perfectly fit the ratio. But I only have 8 1/2 X 11 and I do love to cut paper.)

  • When I print my airline boarding pass in FF, (either printer or to a pdf) it is too small. When printed in IE, it is full size. Is there an add on or setting I can change to allow full size printing?

I fly Alaska Airlines. When I web check in from home and print my boarding pass I either print to Adobe and save the file for later printing or print directly to my printer. The PDF version is about 1/3 the normal size, the direct print is 1/2 the normal size.
This only happens with FF. When using IE, it prints normal size for both the PDF and direct printer version.

I recently tried sending myself an email through Thunderbird to another email account to see if that was the case, but the email came in with a font so tiny that it was unreadable. I had chosen a font type and size (arial 10) and just coming into my outlook inbox was virtually unreadable.
And referring to the person I work with, she doesn't have problems getting anyone else's emails, just ones I send from Thunderbird.

OPatch failed with error code 160
I also experience this when I run:
    opatch lsinventory
Please help to solve this problem. Is it also OUI problem? I have tried to upgrade opatch version, and it still cannot solve the problem.
I once tried patch 9216848, it makes the opatch work, but later when I finished installing this patch, I cannot see the forms as it says "magic number problem". Also the adworker always hangs when I do upgrade on R12.1.2 Patch 7303033. So I dun think it is a solution.

BTW, I'd like to ask where's my Database Initialiation File? I find init.ora and init<SID>.ora in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs in DB Tier, but I cannot find the lines -- pgamax_size. Which file I should edit and what things should I add / remove /edit?
pgamax_size is a hidden parameter (why you need to set this one?).
    The PGAMAX_SIZE hidden parameter
    http://dba-blog.blogspot.com/2005/08/pgamaxsize-hidden-parameter.html
I want to set the Database Initialiation File because in Database Preparation Guidelines (ID: 761570.1), it says that:
    1. Before performing any Applications upgrade or maintenance operations, customers must add the following to the database intialization file to disable fast validation for PL/SQL recompilations:
    disablefast_validate=TRUE
The line should be commented out during the normal operation of the Applications system.
    2. Customers using Oracle iRecruitment on Oracle Database 11gR1 must add the following line to their database initialization file::
event="31151 trace name context forever, level 0x100"
Setting this event provides a fix for the issue reported in bug 6952870.
    3. If you encounter the error:
ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying to allocate 822904 bytes (pga heap, kco buffer)
ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [dbgtfdFileWrite()+48]
set the pgamax_size initialization parameter to a larger value as follows: pgamax_size=104857600
    and restart your database.
I wonder where I can modify these three parameters (which file to edit, and whether it is append / delete / modify values). Or I do not need to do these three points, or even I do not need to go through Database Preparation Guidelines (ID: 761570.1) because my database is 10.3.4 already?
    Thanks!

  • Print jobs keep holding in print queue

Just installed a new HP6600 enabled with wi-fi.  First print test was perfect. Subsequent print jobs keep going to "Hold" in queue. How do I prevent print jobs going to "HOLD".
It prevents another print job from starting unless I manually deleted the job from the queue.

Thanks Jamieson.  I really appreciate your assistance.  I uninstalled the printer software per suggestion #1 and then re-entered my printer and all seems to be working fine now.
