Print Layour Designer and Database image field

I seem to be without a clue on this one. I have a UDF that contains a picture, but for the life of me..I can not get them to appear on the form when I add a Picture field with the content being that UDF image.
Can someone clue me in what I'm doing wrong. not quite sure how to make it work. Thanks

The following works for me:
1) Add a Database field
2) Set the table and field properties in the Content tab to the UDF
3) Set the Field Type in the General tab to Picture
4) [Optional] Set the image sizing options in the Format tab

LiveCycle Designer 8.0 - Image Field Issue

I am using LiveCycle Designer 8. Ive inserted an image field and when I test it, the image doesnt scale proportionally even though the properties are set up correctly (Scale image proportionally). I understand that in order to get this to work, the files needs to be saved as a dynamic PDF, but I don't have an option of saving as a dynamic PDF. The only "Save as" type options I have are Adobe 7 (Static) PDF Form and Adobe 8 (Static) PDF Form. I also don't have an option of saving as a "dynamic" PDF in the Acrobat Save As window.
Is there a way to work around this or am I doing something wrong. The file was designed in InDesign, exported to a PDF and then brought into LiveCycle to insert text fields and an image field for a user to input their contact info and their logo. The 5 text fields work perfectly and the one image field works EXCEPT for scaling proportionally even though the properties for that field are set correctly.

Did you import the file using "Create an Interactive Form with Fixed Pages" as your selection on the Import dialog? If so, this brings in the original InDesign PDF as "artwork" (a background layer) on which your form fields are placed. This document can't be dynamic. That might be the issue.

4.0 EA3 import from designer and database leads to differences in compare models

I followed two ways to import a model in Data Modeler:
1 - an import from Oracle Designer
2 - an import from the database generated on basis from Oracle Designer
Then I compare the two models in Data Modeler, and found differences ...
One of the differences is in Table check constraints. The text is the same when viewing it in the compare model.
So I opened the corresponding XML files for the tables and compared the XML for the constraint text. And there are differences:

This should not be considered during comparision, or better: boths imports should use the same way of formatting.

The Rule specification is not re-formatted in Data Modeler code; it is stored as extracted from the database.
For Oracle Database, the Rule is extracted using SQL of the form SELECT search_condition FROM dba_constraints/all_constraints WHERE constraint_type = 'C';
For Oracle Designer, the Rule is extracted using SQL like SELECT txt_text FROM rm_text_lines WHERE txt_type = 'CDWHCL';
Are you able to tell how your Table Check Constraint is represented (with respect to the 'br') in your Database and Designer?

Printer prints only black and white images from MacBook Air

I tried printing the same file with the PC and it prints ok. Whenever I print with our MacBook Air, it only prints black and white and yes it has a driver automatically installed and updated.

Print Layout Designer and Multiple UDF

We have 10 UDF's on a marketing document and need only to print the UDF with values in it below each other.
Example
Item No          QTY          UDF1     UDF2     UDF3     UDF4     UDF5
A123          10          2.4     2.6               3.2
What we have done is to place the UDF's below each other and selected the option the suppres zero values and on the layout section to auto adjust the height.
It works well if the scenario is
Example
Item No          QTY          UDF1     UDF2     UDF3     UDF4     UDF5
A123          10          2.4     2.6     2.1     Null     Null
Then it will print
Item No          QTY          UDF
A123          10          2.4
                    2.6
                    2.1
But when you skip one UDF value as below
Example
Item No          QTY          UDF1     UDF2     UDF3     UDF4     UDF5
A123          10          2.4     2.6     Null     Null     3.2
Then it will print
Item No          QTY          UDF

                    2.6
Blank Line

We need to print it as

I understand what you are explaning, but my problem is still that it will suppress the values but won't move the 5th udf value to the place of the 3rd udf, it currently suppres it and then it will leave two blank lines and then print UDF5

Adding data field in query print layout designer (PLD)

Dear Experts/Gurus,
I would like to add data field in query PLD in repetitive area1 but it can't. The query I made excluding sequence no., so I think I must use datafield for that. I use textfield in the repetitive area header1. is it correct what I have thought, I mean is it really datafield can't be add in the print layout designer if it is from query ? I appreciate your answer. TIA

No you can't, you will have to recreate the query with the missing field and recreate a new print layout for this. Is still a flaw in SAP B1.
If you go to the service market place under education you can get the flashbook for the print layout design and the query manager and wizard, study them, they are of great help to understand the technology behind the PLD and the queries in SAP B1.

Difference between database design and schema design

Hi i have visited so many database websites and i found so many people saying we can design a data base for you. Is schema designing and database designing is the same. so many palces i find people saying we have to design data base first in order to create a physical databse. so i am little bit confused. are they same? and also what is the difference between data model and schema?

Not correct. The physical design is the implemetation of the logical design. These two designs are at different levels. Also, the logical design will be the same. irrespective of the RDBMS product use.
What is incorrect is a designer/architect designing a logical design specifically for Oracle.. or specifically for SQL-Server. A logical design has nothing to do with the RDBMS product (or h/w platforms. app servers, web severs and operating systems used).
So the logical design will always be the same - it is RDBMS independent.
The physical design is fully dependent on the RDBMS product used. The same logical design will be implemented as different physical designs for Oracle and for SQL-Server.

Rounding up values in Print Layout Designer

The customer has a database field in print layout designer and this is bringing back a value such as 0.25. They would like to create another field which shows this value rounded up to the nearest whole number, ie in the case of 0.25 they would like to see 1.
They have created a formulae field and used the round function, however this rounds the value down to the nearest whole number as per the general rounding rule i.e. round it down if it is below .5 and up to the nearest whole number when it is above .5

Yes, its possible to do this. Firstly, you will need to use the fields from my earlier post. However you will also need to add some more formula fields
The first formula field will work out what the numbers are to the right of the decimal point:
DecimalRight(Field_101)
Field_101 in your case will be the field ID for the quantity field and the field ID for the above formula field will be Field_102.
The second formula field will work out if the quantity is a whole number, here the field id will be Field_103:
Field_102==' '
The third formula field will work out if the quantity is not a whole number, here the field id will be Field_104:
Field_102!=' '
You can now use the Link To functionality to link the original quantity rounded field to Field_103 and you can link the quantity plus 0.5 rounded field to Field_104.

Copy Express - Copying Print Layout Designs from one company to another

Dear All,
i was wondering if one of you on the forum could help me with copy express.
I understand through the DIAPI, you cannot code to copy print layout designs, and if you copy the fields through SQL, SAP will no longer support the database.
It is the first time using Copy Express and am very confused about what to do.
Could someone post a step by step was of saving a design and then copying from one database to another.

You can do this......
Go to PLDs and save a different copy of every PLDs by making Save as and then try to copy such PLDs.
I also encountered such problem and I tried the same I suggest you.
So try once.....

Resetting an Image Field

Hey everyone,
I have created an interactive form in Adobe Designer 7.0 for my company with text fields and two image fields. After the form had been filled in and the images added, the user has the option to submit, print or reset.
Everything works perfect except when the reset button is clicked, only the text fields are cleared and the two images remain.
How can i get it so that the whole form is reset?

I am quite new to this and am not familiar with javascript at all. I have created the form so far only using the text and image fields available to me in the designer 7.0 library. Are you saying i will have to add the string of code that you provided in the XML source tab myself? If so, could you please show me how it should be entered. Im a little out of my depth with this so any help would be great.

Auto attach jpg files to image fields

I create a form with multi text fields and multi image fields in LiveCycle Designer. Each text field will be filled with image path name. Is it possible to write a routine in form to automatically attach each image file name speicifed in text field into respective image field. This function should be automattically activated when opening PDF.
It will be appreciated if someone has similar codes can be shared.

The short answer is no (afaik). As far as I can see referencing an external image file is a security concern. See this example here: http://assure.ly/mcFrC6 (in particular page 3).

Please follow these steps to copy PLD from one DB(Test DB) to another DB(Live DB)
1. Login to the Test DB and open the PLD. Click on menu 'Print Layout Designer' and select 'Display Hidden Fields'
2. Goto Edit Menu and select 'Select All'
3. Copy All the fields (select copy from Edit Menu)
4. Click on Administration and select Choose Company and login to the Live DB.
Note: Donot Logoff from the Test DB)
5. Open the PLD in Live DB. Click on menu 'Print Layout Designer' and select 'Display Hidden Fields'
6. Goto Edit Menu and select 'Select All'
7. Delete All the fields
8. Now Paste the fieds which you copied from 'Test DB'.
Note:
Ensure that the Document Properties like Width, Height, Top Margin, LeftMargin etc.., are same before pasting in 'Live DB'

Image Field overwrite existing click event

Using LiveCycle 8, I am creating a form which has an image which will change when the user clicks the image object.
I downloaded the trial of Acrobat Professional 8.0. In this version, instead of creating a form in Acrobat, it uses LiveCycle 8. In LiveCycle, there is no Image Button and the Static Image object cannot be scripted. It seems the choice for a dynamic image object is the Image Field. But this object has a default click event which is not required in my form.
Is there a way to replace the default click event on the Image Field object? I would like to overwrite it's click event with my own Javascript script. So far, I can add my own script in the click event, but then both my script and the browse for image file occurs.

You can't override an event but you could put a button over top of the image, make it the same color as the background, remove the caption and then when you click the image you are really clicking the button. You can put your code on the click event of the button. make sure the button is in the foreground and the image field is in the background.

I can not figger out how to upload an image from my 2012 Mac air to avery design and print software

How do you upload a photo from iPhoto to Avery Design and Print label software?

Here's what works for me -
Open up Avery DesignPro (1.0.0 for me)
Select a sheet format (I use 8253 for mailing labels)
Click on one of the templates
Make sure "Edit Panel" is selected and not "Page Preview"
Delete whatever isn't needed
Drag and drop a jpg image via Finder to the Panel
You can stretch the jpg to size and shape as needed
Can also add
I've been doing this for quite a while. Get a crash of DesignPro occasionally but no big deal.

Upload and Resize Image not inserting filename in database

I have a form that I created using the insert record form wizard. One of the fields is a file field and my form enctype is set to multipart/form-data. I then used the upload and resize image behavior and set the parameters. When testing the form the file uploads to the correct directory but no entry is made into the database for that particular field. The other fields are entered into the database just fine. If it helps, here is the code generated before the tag:

If the reason is about memory, warning message should be happened when upload the image, because "show thumbnail" means resize at second time, how come you failed to resize the picture that system let it upload succeed at the first time by the same resize process?
upload procedure
a.jpg: 2722x1814, 1.2mb
upload condition: fixed width 330px, 1.5mb
"upload and resize" a.jpg -> file upload -> "resize engine" -> passed (but not work and no warning message)
"show thumbnail" a.jpg -> "resize engine" -> failed (not enough memory)
it doesn't make sense.
and you miss an important key point, I upload the same picture myself, and resize work, so I said it happened at random, and that's why I am so worried.
