Print Layouts in Daily Use (Follow-Up from P2P)

SAP Business One team is working on enhancements of standard B1 print layout templates with goal to reach a situation where further customization of the most important layouts will not be needed. As a part of this review we would like to know your feedback on current print layouts and required modifications.

  • Printing A3 page format using ABAP List from SAP is a problem...

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to print a standard output (ABAP List) A3 page size from SAP.
I used SWIN, SAPWIN, I9HP4 device types, but none of them worked.
I created page format type ZYEVMIYE 290MM – 420MM and the page format L120, W200. In order to make it usable with page size is A3. Unfortunately this did not work either.
The behaviour of the problem is when I tried to print with the device types that mentioned above then printer indicator comes to an error. And nothing comes out from the printer.
Just to be on the safe side I made a test from windows self test, it resulted success with A3 page size format. So from this point of the view I got a thought that somehow SAP (selected device types) is not able to send correct signal to Printer for page size A3, because on the printer information screen displays ‘load Tray2 for A4’ this is showing that SAP sends Printer a signal for page format A4.
I need help on how to make SAP (selected device type) send a correct signal to Printer in order to printout A3 page size format.
Quick reply will much be appreciated.

    Hi,
At last i got a Solution to my Question.
The Problem is that in my SAP-Code they have been translated the PDF into 255 string. But i am retreiving using 132 string. So, i resolved in this way.
<b>For Each dr As DataRow In ds.Tables(0).Rows
Dim dataline As String = dr(0)
    If dataline.Length < 255 Then
    dataline = dataline.PadRight(255, " ")
    End If
    sb.Append(dataline)
    Next.</b>
May be this Thread is useful to Others.

  • Specific Identification Cost for batch managed items (Follow-Up from P2P)

Specific Identification Cost method is used for serial and batch managed item. Using this method, the outbound cost of such items would be the original cost of specific goods, which can be determined according to the serial or batch number of that item.
Business One allows the user to receive batch managed items with a batch number that already exists in the DB. It’s possible that the received quantity is added to on-hand quantity in the warehouse. In such case, the quantity on-hand of that batch and the received quantity may have different costs.
What should be the system behavior in such case:
    1. Block receipts to the same batch with different costs.
    2. Write the difference to a price difference account, as done in Standard Cost method.
    3. Manage the batch cost with Moving Average method.

    Hi Peter,
This is a very important functionality that you are describing here. For example, in the Steel industry, it could be extremely useful to cost by batch or serial number.
If you receive a batch that already exists in the system and if the costing method for the product is moving average, then teh cost of the batch should be calculated based on the moving average as well.
If the costing method is standard, then the cost should go in a variance account.
If the costing method is FIFO, then it is a getting trickier...

  • Shorten Business One Deployment (Follow-Up from P2P)

Deploying SAP Business One Server and Clients can be time cumbersome and time consuming. We definitly have the goal to further streamline the installation experience of SAP Business One. Please share with us:

    - - What are you main challenges when installing Business One Server / Client?
The challenges sometimes come from the customer which would not like to invest more money to make their SBO installation more smooth. E.g: the HQ is in city A and the client is in city B, C and D. using V-Sat and Citrix maybe could solve but high investment cost. Another e.g. is slow connection to server from branches to HQ although using citrix + ICA.
    - - M personal challenges are the patch level sometimes replace or even delete some functionality in previous patch, for example. SBO 2005A SP 01 PL 18 upgrade to PL 27, it made receipt from production can't be above PO quantity.
-- I think it is OK but I can't imagine the result will make it work well or not.

  • Key Reports for Customers (Follow-Up from P2P)

Currently, we are working intensively on enhancing the reporting area in B1 and XL Reporter. Our ambition is to reach a situation where most of the required reports will be installed automatically. We would like to know your opinion about your preferences and our directions.
This thread is continuation from 'Key Reports for Customers' <a href="http://p2p.sap.com/businessoneforum?type=join&login=1&uid=41FB661A76CED536C825C4E2B6FF4397&cid=91&go=z37225">discussion</a> in P2P SAP Business One Forum (Product Development Collaboration). Previous discussion on P2P is summarized in the attached file.

Key reports not readily available at present for customers with multiple locations are sales by branch, purchases by branch, open orders by branch (sales and purchases), the ability to group sales persons by branch for reporting by salesperson to branches.
The ability to report opportunties in XL Reporter by region / territory is one we are often asked for, and this would extend to sales by territory (not necessarily the same as branch)

    Peter,
We are also having intermittent performance issues with SBO. Our main usage is with A/R invoice whereby we have approx 10 x users processing A/R invoices in remote locations (WAN, via 2 x Citrix Servers - both Dual Xeon 3.06Ghz with 4gb DDR RAM). We process some +9,000 A/R invocies per month with a total of approx 250,000 rows per month. We have recently upgraded from SBO2004A to SBO2005 SP01 PL18 and have noted a huge backwards step in system response time (performance). Copied below are some recent times recored:
We also have local users (connected directly to SBO - not via Citrix) and the performce is good.
Look fowards to your feedback as to how we can improve on this current situation which is costing us valuable time (and money)
P.s Can you also send me a copy of the Performance Improvement Discussion. I am unable to download the file from the link in the forum.
    Thanks Ron

"12.29 seconds just to open an A/R Invoice (from when you click on A/R Invoice button to when it actually opens)
43.28 seconds from when you click the final add on a credit to when the credit actually processes
18.57 seconds from when you click the final add on an invoice to when the invoice actually processes
58.08 seconds from when you click the first add on an invoice to when the invoice actually processes"
When you multiply these times out by +9,000 A/R invocies. The problem is quite serious!

  • Down payment document differs from print layout since SBO 2007A PL45

Since upgrade from PL42 to PL45, we have ceveral problems.
    - Print Layout wrong:
    1. We have a sales order with 7 positions, 2 of these 7 positions are already delivered and paid.
Based on the sales order, we post a down payment invoice that has the correct 5 positions from the sales order. When selecting print preview (it doesn't matter, if it is a user defined print layout or a SAP standard layout), we get all the 7 positions that are in the sales order.
    2. Also down payment invoice: We have one position with 3 items, the document shows the unit price correct and also the price for the position (price per unit x3) correct. The print layout only shows unit prices.
    3. sales order has another currency rate then the down payment and the following invoice, as they will not be posted the same date. The documents show everything correct, but the print layout only shows the currency rate from the sales order (also in the following documents like DP invoice and final invoice).
    - a lot of dump files....
Does somebody knows a solution for these problems or does somebody knows, if they will be solved in the PL46 or 47?
    Thanks  a lot.
    Katrin

    Hi katrin,
In case you are recieving Dump files with a system standard layout, kindly log a support ticket with
SAP support. Please attach the dump files and describe the scenario to reproduce the issue.

  • Print preivew Query print layout

    Hi All,
I have a query that I have created a print preview to.  I can click on Query Print Layout, select the report and print preview to show the report.
Does anyone know of a way to do this via the SDK?
I was trying to use the ReportLayoutsService and managed to get the report loaded into a SAPbobsCOM.ReportLayout but I have not been able to determine how to display the report.
    Thanks
    Karen

    Karen,
There is not an object or method to do this currently via the SDK.  The ReportLayoutsService Object is a service that enables you to copy the print layout of a specified document type from one company database to another.
Please also see this post ...
Run SBO report directly from SDK

  • Query Print Layout Design

    Hi Friends,
I am designing PLD's B1. I like to know the usage of Query Print Layout and methods to use the same. Because in my PLD i like to extract values from inv3 table directly to Database field. Looking for your suggestions , urgent.
    Reg
    R.Vijai

    Vijaya,
Query Print Layout is mainly used as presentation layer for printing results of a query.
If you have already built the query. Then click on query manager. highlight your query and click Create Report.  This will open Create User Report window asking you to select Base Template.  Click on the Base Template and Click Ok.
To format the look and feel  go to  Tools--> Queries --> Query Print Layout --> Reports Tab. Double click on your Query template and start customizing.
To preview the Print layour with you data you may highlight the query (do not double click) under query manager and click on File -->Print Preview
    Best wishes

    Printing User-Defined Queries with Variables
    Use
When a user-defined query contains variables, its linked print layout will also display the variables data and print them.
In the print layout linked to that query, you can see that an additional area containing the condition's parameters was added

  • Coping Print layout from Service to item

    Good Day Experts,
Can you please advise if there is an easy way to copy print layouts that I was using for printing service documents to be used when printing items on Marketing documents, rather than doing them from scratch on the items print layouts.
    Thanks in advance,
    Louis

    Hi Luis......
There is an easy way to copy one layout to other.
    Just follow this.......
Go to Administration> Utilities> Duplicate Layout Template.
Select Source Layout which you want to copy and select Destination Document type and its Layout Template at the bottom and  add it.
Now when you check through Print Layout Designer you can find that your Layout is copied to the right place.......

  • Copy Express - Copying Print Layout Designs from one company to another

    Dear All,
i was wondering if one of you on the forum could help me with copy express.
I understand through the DIAPI, you cannot code to copy print layout designs, and if you copy the fields through SQL, SAP will no longer support the database.
It is the first time using Copy Express and am very confused about what to do.
Could someone post a step by step was of saving a design and then copying from one database to another.
Thank you so much for anyone that can help.
    Regards

    Hi Troy.......
    You can do this......
Go to PLDs and save a different copy of every PLDs by making Save as and then try to copy such PLDs.
I also encountered such problem and I tried the same I suggest you.
    So try once.....
