Print or Export by Topic

I am using RH9 and fairly new to RH.
How do you embed an icon/functionality in the help pages that allows the user to print just the topic for the page they are on? In my initial tests, if I try printing a particular page I am on in the help system, it prints out the page view with TOC only.
Similarly, is it impossible to allow users to export a PDF of just the topic page they are currently viewing?

Why embed the icon in every page? You can create a single button in the skin, see Snippet 24 on my site. That script does not have the problem you have encountered, your script would likely work if you first clicked in the topic but the script in Snippet 24 does not have that dependency, it does not matter whether or not the user has click in the topic pane. This does assume you are creating webhelp, you haven't said what your output is.
You cannot target the end user's PDF writer as Windows does not allow you to identify a particular printer. You would need to create a PDF of the page and then create a link to it in the topic. That could be a text or image link.

You can publish topics to a spreadsheet format using the "HP Quality Center" publishing style. There are tips on customizing this style in the product documentation.
You can also export your current view to a spreadsheet:
1. File > Print
-- This brings up the Print window.
2. File > Save Document... > Excel File

Print or Export an HTML Report SQL Developer 1.5.5

I have created an HTML report using the plsql-dbms_output report style. Unfortunately, I do not see a way of printing or exporting the report. If I select File - Print, it just prints a snapshot of the workspace. Also, I do not see any options for exporting the report. Of course, exporting the report would only be useful if it is saved as an HTML file preserving all the formatting.
Can anyone shed some light on what I may be doing incorrectly or provide an alternate method for sharing an HTML report?

I haven't seen printing working correctly ever, in any version.
I suggest you copy/paste the output to a decent editor and print from there...

JRE Crash with 1.5.0_13 related to printing & PDF export

Hi,
I'm having a problem : JRE 1.5.0 (updates 6, 10 and 13 tried) crashes under my software. The problem is encountered with printing / PDF exporting functionality through JFreeReport. Issue is encountered only with dualcore computers. Fortunately the issue isn't encountered with 1.6.0 anymore but I'd still be interested to find some workaround to make the software run with 1.5.0 also (It would be nice not to require users to have 1.6.0) Problem has been detected with both Win XP SP 2 and Vista.
First I was suspicious because we are using one JNI library but removing that didn't help so that shouldn't be the case.
After some searching I found a couple of JVM bugs that were marked as duplicates for http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6186524 . Those were related to 2D things and hence printing, fonts, exporting and with some cases dualcore computers were mentioned. However, that bug should be fixed in 1.5.0_10 but upgrading to 1.5.0_10 (or 1.5.0_13) didn't help so it can't be the actual bug.
Error log, if somebody can make up something: (This error log was got when running through Eclipse with JRE set to 1.5.0_13 but error has been encountered also when running straight with just one JRE (1.5.0_XX) installed to computer.)

This looks like [bug 6754141|http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6754141] in the just-in-time compiler. If you have a support contract you can escalate this to get a fix in a jdk1.5.0 update. Alternatively, there do not seem to be any reports of this in jdk6, so you could try a recent jdk6 update (e.g., jdk6 update 17).

How can you add your own print and export buttons to the CR viewer toolbar?

I posted a previous question that was asking how to get around the Information Bar in IE7 when you export and print. Unfortunately the CR viewer file download code gets blocked by IE7 because the buttons don't directly download the file. However, I have been able to get a regular button that calls the following code and streams the file to the client and IE7 does not block it.

1. Is it possible to add a custom print control/icon to the CR viewer toolbar?

It might be possible to replace the buttons in a windows app since you can retrieve the toolbar as a toolbar object in the winform viewer ( ToolStrip toolBar = (ToolStrip) crystalReportViewer1.Controls[3]; ) however with a web app, it's a lot more difficult.
The problem is that that you need to parse the Request string to try and figure out if the print / export button was clicked. The code below makes the print button disappear if you click it, so you should be able to modify it to call your custom printing / exporting code instead (You have to do this check in a postback)

Printing of export invoices

Hello Experts,
Printing of Export Invoices:
1)Presently only one copy of Export Invoice can be printed in one print command. The settings should be changed in a way that we could print more than one copy in one print command.
2)Certain Contract no. needs to be mentioned in Export Invoices. Settings should be changed in a way that the Contract No. could be mentioned at some stage of Sales Transactions, which should appear in Export Invoice.
How to go about these two requirements?

Font is smaller when I print or export to PDF

Dear all,
I have a strange problem when I try to print or export to pdf my .pages document.
I use FontAwesome.otf in order to have some nice icons but when I print the document this icons are smaller then the document.
I also try to make them bigger but they get reduce anyway.

To install fontawesome you simply download the kit from this link. Once you unzipped the file you will find the .otf font inside the folder 'font'. Then simply drag and drop the font inside your fontbook.
To insert an icon in pages you simply copy and paste it from the cheatsheet. Remember to change the font to FontAwesome in the Format > Text panel otherwise you would not see the character.

Lightroom 4. I have a large image (scanned) 10,000 X 14000 which does not Render when I try to print or export. Regular sized images work fine.

In Lightroom 4:Mac OS 10.6.8. I have an expecially large image (scanned) which is 10,000 X 14,000. I have edited it but when I try to print or export the image, it starts to "Rendering Page" but gets stuck and is unable to complete the task before it times out. When I use normal sized photo images (raw), it works fine. I suspect the problem is related to the size of the file. Is there some way I can reduce the size of the image while in Lightlroom? Or is there any other solution?

Check the Windows System Event Viewer to see the details of the crash, most importantly the name of the faulting module.
Most crashes on Open or Save are due to OS bugs (especially on MacOS) or bugs in third party extensions to the OS open and save dialogs.

I'm doing a chemistry degree so as you can imagine, there are a lot of missing superscripts or subscripts through my text!
I just tried updating my iWork suite to newest version but the problem still persists.

How to Print the Export variables in UNIX

Hi Team,
I am facing a problem to print the export variables.
Please find the following code
Ex: a=$USERNAME
B=$PASSWORD
c=$a/$b
echo $C
while I am printing the values in C i am getting like this /apps
$USERNAME contains apps
$PASSWORD contains apps
The above 2 variables are environment variables .I expect the result like this apps/apps
but I am getting the result as /apps
can any one help on this issue?

How to hide the Print and Export button in analytics report or tasks pane

Hi Experts,
In BIEE 11g,
How to hide the Print and Export button in analytics report or tasks pane ?
For example:
In console,I have created one userA which is belong to BIConsumer GROUP , when I make use of the highest user 'weblogic' to create one simple report, then the userA will login the analytivs to view this report (not dashboard), it will show the print and export as below.So customers do not want to give him the privilege for printing and exporting.
In addtion, go to catalog->tasks(left corner), it will also show the print and export button. So how to hide or not access these button?
Note: Maybe it can use the policy for consumer role for implementing this requirement, but I do not know how to modify the policy. Are you facing the problem? Thanks.

Hi,
1. Create seperate folder for Reports & Dashobard.
2. For BI_Consumer (userA) set the catalog permission to view Dashboard Folder only and remove permission on the Report Folder (you can give traverse permission but don't give Open permision).
3. By this user won't be able to open or run any reports in that folder and the only way he can see the reports is through Dashboard and on dashboard the export and print buttone can be removed very easily.

Output from Web, Printing OR Export to Excel

Hi.
A minimum requirement for GoLive of our Web project is that there should be some way of outputting the result of the query, and for the time being we can live with it being EITHER printing OR Export to Excel. (Output to Excel means output to 'proper' Excel, not a web appearance of Excel)
Output that doesn't include the selected input parameters (and the report title) is not fit for purpose, and it appears that in order to overcome this hurdle on either means of output I have to resort to Prakash's blog on using the XPATH programming language.
Or maybe note 1069368 on PDF export, but using 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN_EXPORT also appears to not work.
Or we use the Information field (text elements, I believe) in a Container Web Item. But adding text elements one by one is not a workable solution either.
Or The 3rd-Party route. But we really don't want to go there.
SO.... standing back a little. SURELY, I think, someone out there has been here before, its not rocket science that I'm trying to do!
So what is my question? Well, I want to know how other people have addressed this issue, please...

Is there another OSS note that tells you really what to do?

I have spent several days investigating this, by the way, so although I MAY have missed the obvious, I don't believe I have.
As a reward, as well as giving points, I have several documents that I have created, I am willing to share. How 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN is built, maybe, with screenshots? Or a WORKABLE version 7 workbook template for multiple queries?

Have you tried the print button in the web analyzer it does export the input filter parameters as part of the exported PDF document.
You can include any additional text elements and use a custom export template if required.

Powerview - How to print or export a complete data set

Does anyone know how to export or print all the records from a PowerView table? It only prints or exports what is visible. Thanks!

Power View reports are built on data models. Creating, opening, and saving Power View reports all take place in SharePoint Server. We can print a Power View report from design or reading modes, but not from full-screen mode. Power View prints one view at a
time─the current view. The view always prints in landscape orientation, regardless of settings in the Print dialog box. It prints exactly what you see in the view. For example, Power View prints:
•The part of a visualization that is visible when you print, if the visualization has a scroll bar.
•The selected tile in a tile container.
•The Filters Area, if it is expanded.
•The current frame of a scatter or bubble chart with a play axis.
When printing the view, you can click Print on the ssCrescent File menu.
