Print PDF issues with Reader 11.0.03

I upgraded to Reader 11.0.03 and can no longer print any .pdf files in Mac OS 10.8.4 I get the print dialog box, but when attempting to print get a pop-up “The document could not be printed” and then “there were no pages selected to print”.

Once it goes to the Print Dialogue box, you've essentially left Reader and are working in Mountain Lion. This may be a Reader setting, but when you installed Reader XI it retained all the preferences from X, so it's unlikely that the install alone did this.
You can try a "clean install":
Download a trial of AppZapper.
Use it to remove Reader XI and all preferences and .plist files.
Download and reinstall Reader XI and see if it changes.
If it doesn't it's most likely in your printer settings.

  • Windows 7: Unable to print pdf documents with Reader 9.3.0

    I have the following problem.
    Right now we are on the way to deploy Windows 7 in our environment. Now i have come over a problem with Adobe Reader 9.3.0, Windows 7 and our older printer modells from HP (4000er and 4050er). With them I can't print out any pdf document because in reader 9.3.0 the default language level is set to "Level 3". If i change this drop down to "Level 2" I can print out the document without any problems.
    Question is: How can I permanently set this option to default to "Level 2" (see screenshot - this is found if you hit the advanced button in the printing dialog).
    Any help is apreciated...

    When using a 32-bit browser, the PDF document should open in the browser (using the Adobe Reader add-on).
    When using a 64-bit browser, it will ask you if you want to save the document, or open in Adobe Reader.
    If neither of these methods work, then it is the website that does not let you download the document (for whatever reason, e.g. server overload).
    Try if you can open this document: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83708/attachments/Acrobat_Reader_ReleaseNote_10.1.2.pdf

    Very strange!  What is your installed Reader version?
    Try disabling Protected Mode in Adobe Reader [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

  • Cannot print PDF file with version 11.0.10 Adobe Reader.

    Cannot print PDF file with version 11.0.10 Adobe Reader.  Get error messages "This document could not be printed" and "There are no pages selected to print".  I am using a Mac OS Ver 10.0.2.  I see that this question has been asked by others recently, but no answers.  Anyone have any suggestions?

    Assuming you are running 10.10.2 and not the ancient 10.0.2, can you tell us what printer and printer driver you are using? How is the printer connected to the computer (network, usb)? See if you can delete the Reader preference files? Years ago I resetting the printer subsystem would sometimes cure a problem like this.

  • Cannot Print PDF Files on Reader 9.4.0!

    I recently updated the drivers on my Brother MFC-420CN printer to the Vista drivers so I could scan multiple pages at once, however, now I can no longer print PDF files!!!!
    I tried to roll-back to the old drivers and it still doesn't work, I can print other types of files so it makes me believe that this is an Adobe Reader issue and not a system issue.
    In addition, I tried the following steps:
    1. Under advanced settings I chose "Print as Image" - did NOT work
    2. I uninstalled Reader and re-installed - did NOT work
    Here is my setup:
    OS: Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1, 32-bit
    Model: HP Pavilion dv2700
    Processor: AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58 1.90GHz(I am aware this is a 64bit processor with a 32-bit OS)
    Printer: Brother MFC-420CN
    Driver Version: 6.0.6000.16386(This is the previous driver that I rolled back to which used to print PDF files)
    Adobe Reader v9.4.0
    Any advice on how to get this working again would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

    Had you managed to print the same files, or are you talking about files you hadn't attempted to print? Are these PDF files forms that you are trying to fill and print in Reader?

    Any fix for the PC based network printer communication issue with Mavericks?

    I just signed up for FIOS and am not experiencing your problem (had enough other ones instead).
    Go to mail preferences ~ click on a mail account ~ click on the advanced tab. The only settings that worked for me were: port 110 SSL OFF, authentication: Authenticated POP (APOP). If I remember correctly when I first set this up another window opened and I typed in my password and never had to do that again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Printing pdf/postscript with JPS 1.4 -- HELP!

    Hi all,
    I've been experimenting with the new java printing service and I have run into a couple problems. In particular, I have been trying to get even the most basic example referring to printing a postscript file directly to a printer. The code is pretty much straight from sun's JPS section.
    here's the code:
    // Input the file
    FileInputStream textstream = null;
    try {
    textstream = new FileInputStream("c:/0011.ps");
    } catch (FileNotFoundException ffne) {
    if (textstream == null) {
    return;
    // Set the document type
    DocFlavor myFormat = DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.POSTSCRIPT;
    // Create a Doc
    Doc myDoc = new SimpleDoc(textstream, myFormat, null);
    // Build a set of attributes
    PrintRequestAttributeSet aset = new HashPrintRequestAttributeSet();
    aset.add(new Copies(5));
    //aset.add(MediaSize.A4);
    aset.add(Sides.DUPLEX);
    // discover the printers that can print the format according to the
    // instructions in the attribute set
    PrintService[] services =
    PrintServiceLookup.lookupPrintServices(myFormat, aset);
    // Create a print job from one of the print services
    if (services.length > 0) {
    DocPrintJob job = services[0].createPrintJob();
    try {
    job.print(myDoc, aset);
    } catch (PrintException pe) {
    System.out.println("error");
    Now....I've just installed printer drivers in Windows 2K for a RICOH and CANON iR550 printer. Both printers support PS3 and the RICOH Aficio AP2700 PS printer also supports IPP (Note: I physically don't have these printers, so I'm just printing to a file and viewing the file with a PCL viewer).
    okay...now...the problem at hand....I can do the following with the code above:
    1) I can print a postscript file to the printer with NO attributes specified...once I add Copies and Media types..no services are found...
    2) specifying a PDF docflavor and pdf file will not return any services.
    3) If I specify AUTOSENSE in the docflavor, the PDF will be sent to the printer but 'junk' will be printed out. Basically, the printer doesn't seem to understand the file type.
    I've tried other printer drivers from other printer companies with no success.
    Now, my question to everyone who has SUCCESSFULLY printed PDF/Postscript with the Java Print Service using attributes such as Mediasize, Duplex printing, Copies...please...please respond to this message and provide some insight on how you did it (i.e. printer type, drivers, code snippit, etc...)
    am I missing something?
    I know alot of people having the same problem...
    Thankyou

    Hi,
    You may want to check the DocFlavors that are supported by the printers.
    Using the command as followed,
    // Get the supported flavour
    DocFlavor[] docFlavors = printer.getSupportedDocFlavors();
    for (int i=0; i < docFlavors.length; i++) {
    System.out.println("Supported flavour is " + docFlavors);
    I also hit into the same problem like you, trying to print a PDF into HP LaserJet 5 using AUTOSENSE. Junk output.
    Check the docFlavor supported on the printers are
    Supported flavour is image/gif; class="[B"
    Supported flavour is image/gif; class="java.io.InputStream"
    Supported flavour is image/gif; class="java.net.URL"
    Supported flavour is image/jpeg; class="[B"
    Supported flavour is image/jpeg; class="java.io.InputStream"
    Supported flavour is image/jpeg; class="java.net.URL"
    Supported flavour is image/png; class="[B"
    Supported flavour is image/png; class="java.io.InputStream"
    Supported flavour is image/png; class="java.net.URL"
    Supported flavour is application/x-java-jvm-local-objectref; class="java.awt.print.Pageable"
    Supported flavour is application/x-java-jvm-local-objectref; class="java.awt.print.Printable"
    Supported flavour is application/octet-stream; class="[B"
    Supported flavour is application/octet-stream; class="java.net.URL"
    Supported flavour is application/octet-stream; class="java.io.InputStream"
    However, do not know how to create a print service to support PDF. Obviously, we know that HP LaserJet 5 can print PDF.
    Regards
    Heng

  • Cannot print pdf files with Adobe reader 9.3

    I upgraded from Adobe 7 to 9.3 and now I can not print pdf files.  I am able to print word and any other type of file but not pdf.  The printer will pull paper into it like it is going to print but stops and nothing else happens.  I have an HP C3100 printer.I also tried to do what the support web site said to do but no luck.  I also tried to do a system restore but it would not do it.  Does anyone have a idea to help fix this?

    Post your problem in the forum for Adobe Reader.

  • Can't print pdf's with new Adobe Reader XI

    Hi there. I’ve just downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader XI. I can open up pdf’s but when I try to print it crashes. I am using a Mac OS X Version 10.6.8. I’m not very techie so plain language would be really helpful. I did click a box about enabling signatures and I’m not sure if that is causing the problem. Thanks.

  • Print PDF document with printer's name and date/time of print

    Hi,
    I'm pretty new to this...
    I have a PDF document and when I print it, I want the printer's name and the date/time of print to be showed on the printer's output.
    I have several printers (some local and some on network) and don't necessarly use the default one. I would like the name of the printer used, to be printed on the document.
    With var h = this.getField("Printer"); h.value = app.printerNames; I'm able to get the list of all printers available but I just need the one used.
    For the date/time, using var f = this.getField("Today"); f.value = util.printd("mmm/d/yyyy", new Date()); gives me the date/time of when the document is open, not when the document is printed. (or maybe I'm missing something?)
    I guess the date/time issue is not the major one as there is usually not much difference between the time you open the document and the time you print it.
    I'm more interested in the printer's name.
    I use Acrobat Pro 9 to edit my PDF document.
    Can anyone help me please?
    Thanks!

    This project was left aside for a while... but it's now finished!
    Thank you for the answers. It was helpful.
    Here is a step-by-step of what I did (using Adobe Acrobat 9.5.1):
    Open PDF document in Acrobat
    Select Forms -> Add or Edit Fields
    Add two text fields: one called "Today" for the date and one called "Printer" for the printer name
    Close the form editing
    Select Advanced -> Document Processing -> Set Document Actions...
    Then select Document Will Print and Edit
    Paste the following code:
    var f = this.getField("Today"); f.value = util.printd("dd mmm yyyy - HH:MM", new Date());
    var pp = this.getPrintParams();
    this.getField("Printer").value = pp.printerName;
    Save your PDF
    Enjoy!
    The date and printer name field will be automatically updated when you print the document!
