    I’m using an iMac running Os X Yosemite, Photoshop CS5 Extended, R2880 Epson printer  In the Print Settings dialog box, I can’t select Color, Advanced BW or Grayscale unless I select “Printer Manages Color”. The pull down menu is grayed out. Even with “printer manages color” the tif or jpg image comes out in color overlaid with black. (See example - printer1. image on left is close to what it should be). Photoshop has no updates pending. I’ve downloaded the latest Epson driver which was working fine just before the problem occurred

    Is your Photoshop CS5 updated to 12.1?
    Are you on Yosemite 10.10.1 or Yosemite 10.10.2?
    Did you apply the recent Epson software 2.1.9 update?
    What type of file is it (file format)?  What bit depth and what color space?

  • Print Progress Dialog box always stays on top

    Since upgrading to InDesign CC I have noticed that all print progress dialog boxes stay on top of all windows, even after switching apps. I find this highly annoying and want it to go away. Is there a preference I can change to make it NOT be on top, especially when I've switched to a different application?

    (I am OP, having account issues)
    Trashing preferences wouldn't help if it is a default behavior, which I think this is since it's been happening since the beginning with CC. I was wondering if this was a behavior that I can change with a preference or if I'm just stuck with it.

    In general use a property node with nothing attached to it in LabVIEW with the property Printing >> Default Printer or Printing >> Avalaible Printers to return the printers configured with Windows. One of these string items can be wired into the printer input of the report generation Print Report VI to select a printer.
    In regards to the Microsoft Common Dialog 6.0 ActiveX controls, the printer selection from the dialog seems to be determined by the hDC output, which stands for hardware device context. If you modify the demo posted above to send in the appropriate flag value, either an informational or a direct hardware device context handle is returned in the ICommon property hDC. Input the flag value 512 to the ICommonDialog property Flags to return an hardware device context handle from the hDC property, or 1024 to return an informational device context.
    More information about how to extract any meaningful information from this I32 number can doubtlessly be found at msdn.com, but I'm not sure personally how to do it. Specifically, here are a few posts to start your search at:

    Alternatively, consider avoiding the Common Dialog Control calling a dll that will directly return the selected printer name from a dialog:

  • Image looks great in PS- when I go to print it looks grainy in printer preview dialog box and prints blurry. Why?

    Image looks great in PS- when I go to print, it looks grainy in printer preview dialog box and prints blurry.  Why is this happening?

    PS CC, Yosemite, Epson 3880 (called espson to make sure it wasn't something with that), saved as a tiff/psdjpg- all files behave the same way.  When I open the raw file- and only crop the image- it behaves this way now- with grain and blur when printing.  No other files do this in the same shoot.  I worked on this image- could something have gotten corrupted along the way such that now even opening the raw file creates this problem.  SInce upgrading my computer -  a window pops up when I open PS that says I need to update my graphics card?? for 3D- I'm not using 3D- so I don't know if that means anything.  I have to leave for about an hour- but greatly appreciate any feedback. I will be in touch. Thank you.

  • Trouble creating personal url and disabling color management in the printer preference dialog

    I just purchased a new Canon Pro 9000 MKII which came with a new copy of Photoshop Elements 8. I registered the software and created a username and password successfully, but I am unable to created a personal URL for starting an online gallery. I keep getting error messages everytime I try. One message is that name is taken and the other simply says there is an error.
    Second problem is when I try to print from Edit in Photoshop Elements 8 there is a message that states: " did you remember to disable color management in the printer preference dialog?" It is unclear to me how this can be done.
    Any help with these two issues would be greatly appreciated
    Thank  you.

      Log in to the web page and try some different characters e.g.
    green_11david_Y1973.photoshop.com
    In the print dialog you need to click More Options and choose printer manages color if you want to use your printer/paper profile.

  • Printing directly to printer without Print setup dialog box

    I am using Crystal Reports 2008 with VB.NET 2008. Using the CrystalReportViewer control, how can I print directly to the printer without having the Print setup dialog box popup every time?

    Only way would be to create your own print button and use the report engine APIs. A good sample app is vbnet_win_printtoprinter in this sample download:

  • Where is the Printer Preferences Dialog?

    I'm running PSE 6 for Mac on an iMac using Leopard.  Printer is Canon iP6600D.  After calibrating the monitor (using Apple's program under System Preferences), I opened a jpg on my desktop and made a print, and it matches the monitor fairly closely.  Then I decided to open the same jpg inside PSE and print from there.  Then it asked me under color management/color handling whether PSE or the printer manages the colors (or no color management).  Depending on the answer, it says I need to disable or enable color management in the Printer Preferences Dialog.  I have two questions:
    1)  Where can I find the Printer Preferences Dialog?
    2)  Is it better to let PSE or the Printer handle the color management?
    I actually have a third question (sorry).  When I make prints from our local Walgreens or WalMart, the prints seem way too dark and saturated (WalMart) or has a bluish/purple-ish cast (Walgreens).  Maybe their printers are not calibrated like they're supposed to be??

    Thanks.  I used PSE to produce two jpgs of the same image, one with the 'standard' monitor calibration (gamma = 1.8), and the other using a calibration with gamma = 2.2.  Images are sRGB, and I used the 'no color management' setting in PSE.  I made prints on my Canon ip6600D, and they matched the monitor pretty closely for the respective profiles.  The print made with the gamma 2.2 calibration came out lighter than the gamma 1.8 calibration, which was expected.  So at this point it looks like my monitor and printer are working okay.
    However, I just got back from Walmart, and these same two prints are way too dark, and they are the same exposure (one should be lighter).  Does their machine (Fuji Frontier I believe) automatically optimize the images?  If so, that is not good.  What do I do now?  Do I have to use a printer profile that matches their machine?  My prints looks good (according to my monitor and printer), but I would like to make prints from Walmart or Walgreens if I need to print out a large quantity (saves time, money, ink and paper cost).  Also, I want to send a cd to friends so they can make prints, but at this rate, it is not going to work.

  • How to print a dialog box with all its components ?

    Hi !
    I've written an application.It has a dialog box [JDialog] containing following components:
    1) 2 JLabels.
    1) A JTextField.
    3) A JTable with some values.
    4) A JProgressBar.
    5) A JButton.
    6) An animated gif image.
    I want to print the dialog box with all its components exactly as the are [ Except the button & animated gif ].
    Would anybody please help me?
    My Operating System: Windows XP

    The article over at http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Printing/Java2DPrinting/ has some helpful information on printing Swing components.
    It suggests creating a subclass of the JComponent that you want to print, and have it implement Printable interface.
    So, something like (note, uncompiled / untested code alert) :
    import java.awt.Frame;
    import java.awt.Graphics;
    import java.awt.Graphics2D;
    import java.awt.HeadlessException;
    import java.awt.print.PageFormat;
    import java.awt.print.Printable;
    import javax.swing.JDialog;
    public class PrintableDialog extends JDialog implements Printable {
          * Or whichever constructor you need...
         public PrintableDialog(Frame owner, String title, boolean modal) throws HeadlessException {
              super(owner, title, modal);
          * Implementation of the Printable interface.
           public int print(Graphics g, PageFormat pf, int pageIndex) {
              if (pageIndex != 0) return NO_SUCH_PAGE;
              Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D) g;
              g2.translate(pf.getImageableX(), pf.getImageableY());
              getContentPane().paint(g2);
              return PAGE_EXISTS;
    }Cheers,

  • "apply transitions using" is missing in my preference dialog box!

    Why do I not have the "apply transitions using" in my preference dialog box?

    Clodimedius wrote:
    There is a way to avoid using the overlap mode, which is very simple.
    Instead of using Command T to apply the default transition and shorten the video, drag the transition from the list of transition in the media browser effects library on the right.
    This way, the default overlap mode is applied, instead of using the available media.
    I am sorry, but this is just wrong. The default option is "using available media", as it should, no matter how you apply the transition. Like James said, you only get the "overlap" option if there is no available media to work with.
    By the way, this has been this way for quite some time already (I think since 10.0.1, but I can't be sure).

  • Preferences dialog box: buttons without text

    Since updating Dreamweaver CC from 13.0 to 13.1, the buttons "Apply" and "Cancel" of the preferences dialog box are without text. Also clicking "Apply" has no effect, only "Cancel" works.
    Disable sync settings, and also a reset of Dreamweavers preference files within ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe and ~/Library/Preferences/ did not solve this issue.

    Just to update: Issue got resolved on a re-install .

  • Photoshop elements 2 print preview dialog box

    I'm running PSE 2 on a PC with Windows XP and an old Dell monitor with 800x600 resolution.  Problem: when I check the "More Options box, the box cuts off  at "Print Space"  And I can't control communication between PSE and the printer.  I've fooled with the windows control panel etc. to try to reduce the size of the dialog box to no avail.  PSE preferences does 't help either.   Am I doomed?

    Are you sure you can't change the resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels?

  • Help: printing skips dialog box option when printing from the finder

    Anyone else running into the issue where you select a file from the finder, choose Command + P and instead of getting the print dialog box you get the file printed to the default printer?  It is really annoying when you want to select print options or change printers.  Is there a preference setting to force the print dialog box to open when choosing print from the finder.  Currently I have to open the file in an app like Preview and then choose Command + P to get this to happen.
    Any insights appreciated!

    Is this recent that you are not seeing the print dialog when printing from Finder?
    There isn't a preferences setting to force the dialog that I know of, but you can do a drag and drop to a printer while holding the option key - that'll give you access to the print dialog.

    No, it's not possible from flash itself. The user needs to
    set the preference and that's something
    we can't force. There are 3rd party tools tho that could help
    you with it (for windows and flash exe
    projector files) like Jstart from www.flashjester.com

  • Force quit systems preferences dialog box

    Please help. Yesterday a "friend" tried to set up a wireless connection to a printer from my laptop. Since he does not know Macs, I asked him to stop his tinkering which he did. Now, a dialog box comes up that says: "Another application has changed your network settings" Upon cliking the OK button, the box remains - it does not close until I force quit. This prevents me from even getting into the system preferences to check what has been changed. How can I circumvent this dialog box? All else seems to be working fine; I can still connect to the internet using wireless.
    Thanks for any advice you can give.

    This is a common bug after the Oct 2008 security update. It appears you can try several things, as mentioned in Macintouch Reader Reports Oct 27 and later:
    http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/security/topic4307.html
    and go to Oct 27, 2008 and read several subsequent entries.
    To recap:
    -Try the latest security update.
    -You might be able to dismiss the dialog by clicking at exactly the right moment.
    -Or, upon a restart, go to system prefs/security and check, "Require password to unlock each secure system preference"
    -you can delete several network and location preference files, but then you have to recreate them all manually.
    and there are more suggestions that I haven't tried. I deleted preferences and had to manually reenter location data, which was a hassle.
