Print Quality Officejet L7555

I'd appreciate any helpful suggestions anyone can offer.  I've had this printer for several months, and it's been terrific.  All of a sudden, the colors are garish, greens too bright, blacks part greenish brown, browns orange, just all messed up.  Pinks and purples seem okay.  I thought maybe it was because I was using non OEM inks.  So today I spent $100 on new HP brand ink, and the problem is still there.
On another note, the default printing seems to be stuck on mirror image on, and I keep changing it to off in every profile I have saved, except General Everyday Printing, which I cannot delete or edit.  And this is annoying.  Every time I want to print, I have to go in and change the mirror image to off because it comes up as on.
I have plain paper selected, normal quality, and am printing on a high-end color inkjet paper with the proper side up.  But I've tried varying the settings for quality, paper type, adjusting the ink saturation and brightness.  I've also printed on card stock and photo paper with the same result.  I've fiddled with just about everything I can fiddle with, to no avail.
Does anyone know if it might help if I reloaded drivers/software?  Might I need to replace printheads that are less than a year old?
Thanks for any advice you can give.  I'm totally frustrated by this now.

Thanks for the reply, DexterM.  I have used the clean printhead utility from both the printer and the HP Solution Center toolbox.  Curiously, color copies are perfect.  Printing from an image scanned on the Officejet are coming out perfectly.  The only thing that's printing weird is photos or pictures from .jpg or other graphics-format files.  My black/yellow printhead does have a "monitor" yellow-light status.  According to the Extended Self Test Report, I had a total page count of 1446.  It doesn't seem like the printhead ought to wear out from that many.
Incidentally, while using the replacement non-HP inks, which are supposed to be fully compatible, I was able to print pictures very well.  This is a very recent problem.
It seems as though the colors are getting scrambled somehow in the interpretation from the picture files.  If the printheads were damaged, it seems like a copy wouldn't come out just right.  Any clues as to what might be causing this?  I changed the print processor from the hp one to WinPrint, just to see if that made a difference, but changed it back because it seems to be the same.
Anyway, thanks for your help.
Any clue how I can get the mirror thing to off on the Gen. Everyday Printing shortcut setting?  That's so weird.  Thanks in advance.
Irene

  • Print Quality Issues on OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909g

The print utility says that the onlly cartridge getting low on ink is the yellow, but the guide says not to change the cartridge until it gives you the message to change it. And it has been printing OK until today, when the black ink started getting splotchy. But the utility shows plenty of black ink in the cartridge. I cleaned the print heads, and that changed nothing. I printed out a print head health quality test, and oddly the only thing that printed was two blocks of magenta--the rest totally blank. Odd because the print utility only shows the yellow getting low and that not even ready to change.
I don't want to open up new cartridges for nothing because these signs don't necessarily add up to this being due to empty cartridges. So I am stuck as to how discover what the problem is.

  • HP Officejet Pro 6830 print quality

I have a brand new HP Officejet Pro 6830, I set it up following the instructions and it was working fine for a few days. Then I started getting error messages about the printhead, and messages telling me that I had installed genuine recycled HP ink cartridges and did I want to buy nbew genuine ones. Now I am no longer getting error messages but the print quality is awful, half of it not printing properly. Any suggestions gratefully received. I have tried the sum of my knowledge - switching it off and back on again! Thanks.

  • Print quality of an officejet 6500 wireless all-in-one E709n

I purchased this printer as part of an Apple promotion with a MacBookPro.  The color is extremely poor.  Was told by an HP tech. that they were host cartridges only to be used for setting up the printer.    Anyone else experience this?  Also, when I print out an email, the top part of the message is cut off.  How do I fix that?  Apple won't exchange for another as I already recycled the box.  Do I just have a bum printer?  It does respond to print commands and I have it hooked to a desktop iMac via USB and to my laptop via wireless.  That works...unfortunately, the quality is horrible.

I think our HP tech support agent gave you incorrect advice.  Out of the box, the color quality should be spot on.
When you say the color is extremely poor, do you see this with photo printing or general purpose color documents?
Also, have you tried performing a print head cleaning and an alignment?  The alignment should have been done automatically when you first setup the printer but it doesn't hurt to do it again.
Finally, give HP tech support a call again and politely press your case.  Don't let them tell you it's a host supply issue since the 6500 doesn't use this type of starter ink.  If you are unhappy with the printer's print quality, insist on a replacement.
    BTW -- I have a prototype Officejet 6500 and I think it's a good office printer.

  • HP Officejet L7555 Printer Profile

Is there a printer profile available for the Officejet L7555 printer? If so, where can I get it?

This solution for the OJ 6500 E710 not recognizing the cartridge contains some of the same solutions.   This may be a long shot, but one possible solution that I don't see mentioned in what you've tried already is making sure the cartridges are vented properly (Step 3).   Have you tried that?

  • HP OfficeJet 6500A Printer Quality Report - PHA Drops Inquiry

I just installed new HP Officejet 920XL cartridges (Magenta, Cyan, Yellow) in my Officejet 6500A.  I ran a Printer Quality Report from the printer menu after I installed the new cartridges.  I noticed from the report that the PHA Drops for the Magenta and the Cyan cartridges is substantially less than the PHA Drops for the Yellow cartridge.  I'm not sure what PHA Drops are but I would assume the number would be similar for all three cartridges since I just replaced them. Why would the Yellow number be substantially higher than the other two?   (Magenta - 4350627000, Cyan - 4507370000, Yellow - 5558569000)

    Hello jnedved,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you ran a print quality report after changing your cartridges and you were interested in the PHA count. The PHA is the Printhead Assembly, and the count number is the printheads drop count since being installed. It does not reflect the drop count of the new cartridges. To get a better understanding of how ink is used, please take a look here: Ink Usage in Inkjet Printers.
There could be many factors as to why the yellow PHA drop count is higher than the cyan and magenta cartridges including: ink used to service the printer, pages that you print (some may use more of one color than the others), ink evaporation, etc..
Ink is used in a number of ways throughout the printing process, from preparing the printer to print to the actual printing of documents, photographs and other materials. HP designs its inkjet printer systems to deliver outstanding value in printing customer documents while using enough ink to maintain a reliable printing system that delivers outstanding print quality over the life of the printer.
The PHA Drop count listed on the print quality reports are for warranty purposes only, I hope this helps!

  • Print quality problem with Officejet Pro K5400

I purchased the above printer on August 8th of this year and I have really liked it until now. The print quality has gone to ----! I have done a chat with a technician, replaced any of the cartridges that might be low and it is worse than ever. Two thirds of the page will print  okay and then the last third is either blank or very poor quality. I have tried changing the print quality from draft to best and it doesn't help. What  recourse do I have? I can't find a real person to talk to.
Does anyone out there have an answer?

I purchased my Pro K5400 in May 2008.  In the beginning it was loud (still is) but the printing was beautiful.  Over the last three months the color printing is really bad.  I've replaced the cartridges with only HP ink, I've aligned printheads, I've cleaned printheads, I've calibrated the linefeed.  The diagnostic suggests I replace the printheads.  Really?  After less than a year?  It also sporadically feeds several pages at once.  And, I do a lot of printing of claim forms, it arbitrarily expands the left margin.  Oh, it also jams often.  Again, I believe these last two are due to a feeding problem.  I sent an online question and got answers back in somewhat broken English that seem hooked on just replacing the ink and cleaning the printheads.  Also, they gave me directions on how to clear a jam.  This I know as I clear jams all the time in this printer.  They are unable (perhaps due to language barrier) to answer the feeding/jamming problems.  I really see this as just a very bad quality printer.  I've owned other HPs and never had problems like this.  What is the best way to contact someone in the United States about this printer?

  • Officejet Pro L7590 Print Quality Problems - Black/Yellow Printhead

    Officejt Pro L7590 All-In-One
Running on Windows 7 64 bit, USB connected to computer
Approx 2.5 yrs old; has printed 30,000 pages.
Issue:  Black/Yellow printhead replaced about 500-1000 pages ago; new unit only tested as "Fair" in diagnostics, even though it was fresh outta the box.  Print Quality good.
About two weeks ago, printer refused to print, flashing ambler "!", etc., error message regarding black/yellow printhead.
Ordered replacement ($71 again -- ouch!  Whole printer only cost $199 30 months ago).Again, new unit only "fair" in diagnostic (original Cyan/Magenta printhead still reads as "good").
New printhead required much cleaning and aligning, and now prints with large gaps on a regular basis down the page.  Talked to tech guy @ Staples where i bought it; his only "helpful" suggestion was that most people just toss the printers the first time the printheads go bad.
    Print heads are separately warranted.
    My questions:
    (1)  What else is there that's screwing up my print quality,a nd is it fixable?
    (2)  Can i get my $ back on the two printheads that didn't fix the printer's problems?

  • Poor Color Print Quality With the HP Officejet 6500 Wireless E709n

I am experiencing horrible print quality with this printer.  Colors are way off what they appear on the screen - reds appear yellow, browns appear blue / green.  The printer has new HP ink cartridges, both basic and advanced inkjet cartridge cleaning processes have been run and the inkjet alignment process has been run.  What can be done to correct this problem?

My print quality for Reds & Greens is coming out streaked. The blacks and blues are fine. I use HP ink cartridges anad keep them cleaned and aligned. But on the Alignment page the reds & greens are streaked and cannot be cognized. Could this be a print head problem ?

  • Keep hp 6700 in good shape: automatic print quality diagnostic page every week?

    Hi all,
I've recently bought the HP Officejet 6700 Premium, and I'm concerned about keeping it in good condition, since I had to replace my previous canon printer because of a stuck printhead (the photo black one, I didn't used it for a long time).
Since I don't print much (but I'm using the ADF scanner a lot), and other family members prints sporadically, most of the time in black and white, I would like to setup an the printer to automatically print a diagnostic page every week to make sure everything is alright.
Using eprint, IFTTT and google calendar I could automatically send a file to print (I already set up the printer to wake up a few minutes before the calendar event) with black and color bars (someone suggest to print the google homepage since it has many colors but uses little ink).
Is there any chance I can directly print the print quality diagnostic page (so I can fully diagnose a problem if it occurs)?
    Thanks for the attention
    Cheers from Italy!

    Hey,
To clarify for you and answer your new questions on the printers self maintenance.
The maintenance cycle occurs randomly. It will occur after any power up, after print jobs(not every one) and any time it "think's" printhead health is poor. As mentioned above the printer to does have to be powered on for this to occur.
You can if you'd like still print off the odd test page just to check, once a month would be adaquet.
If you want to be saving power and are turning it off, then you would want it to be at least powering on and running the automated service that occurs weekly.
I hope this clarifies everything for you. Thanks for your posts.

  • Black & white docs not printing Printer: HP Officejet Pro L7380

Hey guys. I've run into a small problem thats been annoying me for a while.
    Printer: HP Officejet Pro L7380
For some reason my printer won't print black and white documents. My colour ink is empty (yellow and magenta but cyan still has some left) but my black ink is full. When i go to print i make sure all the settings are set to print only in black and white. I've tried changing it from good quality gray scale to just plain old black but no change. When i hit the print button the display on the printer says that i've got some ink cartridges empty and refuses to print anything.
I was just wondering if HP is being a cheapskate and making us keep all the cartridges full to print or there's a driver/software problem or any other problem. Please help any help is appreciated

i have the same problem with my HP officejet pro K550.  i cannot get it to print in black and white.  I had to purchase a new Yellow cartridge to get the printer to print anything.    98% of time i print in B&W so having to keep the color cartridge topped up is annoying and expensive.  I had the same thought about HP increasing cartridge sales.

  • HP Pro 8500A printing quality

At first my Cyan would not print on the print quality page. i have changed all the ink Cartridges. I have ran the alignment and head cleaning process many times. The alignemnt fails and i have unplugged the power from the printer. I read where i could clean the print heads manually. i did this per the directions and the cyan started printing good on the print quality page. But now the Yellow and the Magenta do not print on the quality page. i took the print heads out and shook them a couple times and all four ink colors came out.
what do i need to do or what might be the problem.

    Hi @Frogg1977,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums!  I understand you are running into some print quality issues with your HP Officejet A, at first the cyan would not print, but now the yellow has stopped printing as well. If you look on the printhead it advises not to be shaken, please remember for future reference to avoid any damage.

  • HP6600 Poor Print Quality

    Hi,
I am contiinually having to run the Printhead Clean feature before I can print with my Officejet 6600. Once the cleaning is completed, the print quality is fine. Prior to running the cleaner the printing is smudged, blurred or missing, and is often only black (i.e. no colours).
The printer is about 6 months old and has had this problem from day 1 ( I know, i'm lazy). I seem to be consuming almost all of my ink just getting the printheads clean.
According to the HP tool, the printheads are ok. The cartridges don't seem to have a vent in them, is this correct?
    I'd appreciate any suggestions, please?
    Rob.

    Hello @Crossy,
Generally you want to update the Firmware via a USB Cable connection as it is a direct connection. You don't want any interference when you run a Firmware Update as it reprograms the printer. If the programming update is interfered with in any way than you're pretty much left with an expensive paper weight.
In your specific case, because your printer is currently running version MIM2CN1435AR than that is the latest version. The Firmware Update tool will not allow you to resend the firmware.
The last step now would be to contact our Australian support team at: 1300 721 147
