Print quality preference for HP 6500

The default print quality preference for the HP 6500 seems to be "medium" which obviously uses more ink. how does one rest the preference to "one star" or draft quality print?
Thanks.

Please read this post then provide some details. What operating system?

  • Print quality tip for Epson printers with wifi

Just wanted to post a resolution to a print quality problem we were having with an Epson Artisan 730.
I discovered that if we cnnected via wifi the printer driver used offered much lower quality and fewer options then we were used to under Snow Leopard.
When I connected via USB the print dialog offered addtional options and more control over quality and color management.
Seems very strange to me so i thought I would point it out.
    Jeff

I just had to go into system preferences for the printer and click on the printer and then click on sharing preferences and type in my computer name.  Then turn off the computer and turn it back on again and the printer now WORKS.  Amazing.
That solved the same problem for me also.  I had already gone into Time Machine and put back the old Epson files that were changed by the update, but that didn't fix the problem.  Typing the computer name fixed it.

  • Print quality of an officejet 6500 wireless all-in-one E709n

I purchased this printer as part of an Apple promotion with a MacBookPro.  The color is extremely poor.  Was told by an HP tech. that they were host cartridges only to be used for setting up the printer.    Anyone else experience this?  Also, when I print out an email, the top part of the message is cut off.  How do I fix that?  Apple won't exchange for another as I already recycled the box.  Do I just have a bum printer?  It does respond to print commands and I have it hooked to a desktop iMac via USB and to my laptop via wireless.  That works...unfortunately, the quality is horrible.

I think our HP tech support agent gave you incorrect advice.  Out of the box, the color quality should be spot on.
When you say the color is extremely poor, do you see this with photo printing or general purpose color documents?
Also, have you tried performing a print head cleaning and an alignment?  The alignment should have been done automatically when you first setup the printer but it doesn't hurt to do it again.
Finally, give HP tech support a call again and politely press your case.  Don't let them tell you it's a host supply issue since the 6500 doesn't use this type of starter ink.  If you are unhappy with the printer's print quality, insist on a replacement.
    BTW -- I have a prototype Officejet 6500 and I think it's a good office printer.

  • Print quality / resolution for iPhoto books

    Hi -
I am getting ready to upload my first iPhoto book for printing, and a colleague told me to beware of a potential issue. After searching these forums, and searching Google, I found that people in the past (perhaps prior to iPhoto '08?) have had print quality problems when printing 8.5 x 11 books vs. 6x10 books.
Basically, we are creating an 8.5 x 11 book and will have several books printed by Apple. At some point in the future, we will make similar books at the 6x10 size. Will the photos that are included in the books print at similar quality?
    Thanks -

I have ordered books in the past that were made up of photos 1600 x 1200 pixels in dimension and they came out fine. HOWEVER, I had no pages with a photo filling the entire page as Larry warned about.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Print quality.

    HI all.
Is there any way to improve print quality on iPad?
The same photo on PC prints well via Phtoshop Elements to HP Photosmart AirPrint printer.
From the iPad 4, the colours are harsh and unnatural, and quality is generally poor.
    Same problem on iPad 2.

Hello @Strander and welcome to the HP Forums
Just to clarify, are you getting these lines when printing from the Mac or when making a Copy/doing a Scan?
If it's when you're printing, please try the steps within this Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One and Deskjet Ink Advantage 4510 e-All... document and it should help get rid of anything unwanted.
If the lines are happening when Copying or Scanning, please get a paper towel with some water (or glass cleaner like Windex) and wipe down the glass. If you're not really sure where to focus your cleaning, just line the page up with the glass and see where the lines are and focus your cleaning there

  • Print Quality Issues on OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909g

The print utility says that the onlly cartridge getting low on ink is the yellow, but the guide says not to change the cartridge until it gives you the message to change it. And it has been printing OK until today, when the black ink started getting splotchy. But the utility shows plenty of black ink in the cartridge. I cleaned the print heads, and that changed nothing. I printed out a print head health quality test, and oddly the only thing that printed was two blocks of magenta--the rest totally blank. Odd because the print utility only shows the yellow getting low and that not even ready to change.
I don't want to open up new cartridges for nothing because these signs don't necessarily add up to this being due to empty cartridges. So I am stuck as to how discover what the problem is.

  • HP Officejet Pro 6830 print quality

I have a brand new HP Officejet Pro 6830, I set it up following the instructions and it was working fine for a few days. Then I started getting error messages about the printhead, and messages telling me that I had installed genuine recycled HP ink cartridges and did I want to buy nbew genuine ones. Now I am no longer getting error messages but the print quality is awful, half of it not printing properly. Any suggestions gratefully received. I have tried the sum of my knowledge - switching it off and back on again! Thanks.

  • Photo print quality from the HP EVEN 5532

I have tried a number of times to print off a photo from my Envey 5532 printer, Using 6 x 4 sizes glossy paper. The out come is what I can only call a disaster, what comes out from the printer is a total mess, it looks as if to much ink has been sprayed and the colours have all run into each other

  • Can not print to my HP officejet 6500 printer. Have to use internet explorer to print documents that are sent

with Firefox as my default browser, can not print documents. Have to change to internet explorer to print.

Hello , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're having issues regarding your print output.  I'd like to help! Although you've performed steps similar to a power reset, I'd recommend running these steps before working with the steps found in the document.  I would recommend removing the ink cartridges from the printer, and perform a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar. I would also suggest following the steps in this document on Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Officejet 6810 and Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One Printer Series. Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. • Changing Default Print Quality for Photosmart Printers in Stand Alone mode

Hello Everyone. I am using a group of Photosmart Printers in Stand Alone mode for events where I shoot and print on site. Although I have quite a few printers with me (6 total at a time), I prefer to have the printers print in "Normal" Print Quality Mode, instead of "Best". Images come out twice as fast, and because I have a disciplined shooting technique, I get "GREAT" results from the "Normal" setting. I and/or my assistant have to go to my "Preferences" to change my Print Quality everytime we prepare to print another batch of photos. Sometimes we have groups that will want 5 copies, and it simply takes FOREVER in Best mode, and really, although with a 5x Loupe I can tell the difference, My customers can't with their naked eye. Sometimes we forget to change the setting due to the pressure of the pace sometimes. OOPS!
I am using the following Photosmart Printers: A516, A512v and the 335.
As I stated, I don't use these with a computer, I drive them straight from CF Cards. I do have all the original software, if I need to use the computer to make some changes. Just tell me how. Manual says nothing about getting the setting to default to normal.
Thank you so very much in advance.
    BLAYZE!

    Hello:
One way of assuring high quality would be to export the photo to the desktop (at highest quality) and then print from there.
In my own case, I find that when I occasionally print a photo from iPhoto, the quality is quite good.

  • Selecting print preferences for a c310 with an ipad?

How can I select the various print preferences such as print quality from Apple ipad on a c310 printer?

    Hi Snowmass,
I understand that you are looking for print options when printing from you iPad.  The only way to get printer options is to download the Hp ePrint app it allows you to change some printer options when printing from your iPad.

  • Poor print quality for black ink for Photosmart 6520e

Having a problem with black printing.  Using all HP cartridges, but when I run a test page, I get white, horizontal bars across the black test bars.  Some of them are 1/4 inch wide.  Replaced the cartridge and did the automatic printhead cleaning, but no improvement.  I know the printhead is not removeable, what is the next step?

    Hi @Mikenstlouis,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are running into some print quality issues with the black ink on your HP Photosmart 6520.
I would like you to continue here: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages, I understand you may have done some of these steps already but I need you to complete all steps in order to resolve the missing black issue you are experiencing.
Please note: There are three printhead cleaning stages. Complete all three stages if necessary. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last (third) cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again.
If you are still unable to print in black ink, I suspect the issue may be the printer and not the cartridge. I highly recommend you call our technical support at 800-474-6836, I trust they will be able to assist you regardless of the warranty status. • Are there any presets in iPhoto '11 for print quality?

Are there any presets in iPhoto '11 for print quality?

No.  Just use the greatest number of pixels for your photo available.  Other quality settings would be in the printer window, i.e. color settings, etc.

  • L7780 poor print quality after not using for 6 months

Poor print quality after not using my printer for about 6 months.  Ran thru the tools (clean printhead, aligh, etc  . . .) didn't help. Replaced all chartridges, still no help.
I'm fairly tech savy, been in IT for 27 years starting with hardware support.
Question,  can I manually clean the printheads or should I just replace. I would rather try to clean them manually after just shelling out > $ 170 on new chartridges.
    thanks

    Hi @Brentl
Yes, you can clean the printhead and the inside of the printer. The following document will help; 'The Following Printheads are Missing or Damaged, Replace the Printhead' Message Displays on the All....
