Print quality settings

Hi,
when I print from my ipad or ePrint, I cannot control the print quality settings. I want them to be only black and draft quality, which I can manually apply and set as default when I print from my Mac. How do I get that setting to also apply for ePrint and printing from mobile devices?
Thanks,
jjborje

Hi there, the degree of control you have on print settings when printing from a mobile device depends on the method you are using to print and to some extent the content you're trying to print. I would recommend you use the ePrint mobile print app which you can download from iTunes. Using this app allows you set print settings including Draft and Normal modes as well as selecting Grayscale instead of colour. These options are available when you print web pages, documents or emails from within the app. If you print photos they will print in colour and default to photo media.
If you send emails with file attachments to the printers email address you have no control over print settings. Similarly using AirPrint does not all ow you much control over print settings.
Hope this information helps and post back with any more questions.

  • Adobe addin for Excel loses Print Quality settings

I have Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin from Acrobat 10.0 installed in Excel 2010. I have a workbook with numerous worksheets. Normally, the print quality is set at 600 dpi. Some of the worksheets sometimes switch randomly to 72 dpi. There are 2 problems with that. One is that it messes up the pagination which isn't a big deal. The other is that every time the print job hits a worksheet with a different dpi setting, it forces a new file instead of printing everything as one output file. Resetting the Print Quality settings and saving the file does not keep it from happening over and over. What would cause this and how can it be fixed?
    Thanks,
    Barry

    Hi Bill@VT,
Thanks for your response. I guess I should clarify a few things. The PDFMaker addin actually shows up in the printer list as 'Adobe PDF'. So, yes, I am changing the printer to Adobe PDF before I "print" to the PDF file. I do not know what a "settings file" is. Can you elaborate on that? I should also mention that this process worked fine for a couple years before it started acting weird a few months ago.
I am skeptical that the Excel file itself is the problem, only because the dpi setting is in the printer driver and is not one of the settings accessible using the VBA macro language.

  • Epson Artisan 810 and Snow Leopard and Photoshop....Print quality??

I'm a little lost to be honest. I'm not sure where my problem is...Photoshop, Epson, or Snow Leopard
I'm using Photoshop CS4 to edit my photos. I've constrained my cropping to designated print sizes, thus pixelation changes as well.
For example to create an 8x10 from a jpeg file uploaded to my computer from my camera (a sony cybershot dsc-w170 if you need to know, which by default upload files as jpegs), here is the following image info:
    3000 pixels x 2400 pixels
    25.4 cm x 20.32 cm
    with a resolution of 300 pixels/inch
I have the resolution set to BEST and when I print I've tried both document and proof quality (with printer color managment)
I'm using photo paper, gloss, but not Epson brand paper (don't know how much that might be contributing to the problem, if at all).
When I go to print my image the quality off the Epson is HORRIBLE.
Is there something I'm missing or doing wrong?? How do I get better print quality?
There is no option/method of changing the print type (document or photo) on the printer itself, which is obviously made to work best with a PC. So that leaves me with Photoshops options as far as I know.
Although I don't know if there's a way to change default print quality settings within Snow Leopard, or if I even have to.
Whatever the case may be...ultimately I need to know the following:
    paper brand/quality matters?
what program should I be trying to print photos from (photoshop, iphoto, whatever)
how to manipulate the photo quality within whichever program I should be using
and anything else important that I may not have thought of
Thanks so much. I've seen great reviews of photo print quality for this printer, so I have hope that this problem can be remedied....?

Your printer is supported by the latest update supplied by Apple.
Cheap paper usually results in cheap looking results.
I'm using HP paper with a HP printer with a Canon Eos Rebel camera that outputs
    something like 2592 x 1944.
CS4 handels these .jpgs quite fine.
I would first buy some premium Epson paper and see what happens.

  • HT204135 I have two Epson printers and one Canon printer. Why am I unable to access the same print options on my MacBook Pro as I could on mp PC i.e. select paper type and print quality?

I have just purchased a MacBook Pro as my PC has finaly died.
I have three Inkjet printers i.e. Epson Photo PX700W Epson Photo R340 and a Canon Pixma ip4600 which I connected to my Mac and the print drivers were automatically downloaded. Now when I print using any of the printers the functionality PC i.e. Choice of paper and print quality settings. Is this all I get when using the Mac OS lion or should the functionality be on a par with Windows?

Depending on the application you are printing from, you may need to press the Show Details button in the print dialog to see all of the additional driver menus.
The image below is for the extended print dialog of TextEdit and for a Canon MP990 printer. The Show Details button is on the bottom of the print dialog and will change to Hide Details when selected. And with the menu changed to Quality & Media, you have paper options and print quality settings.

  • How do i change the quality settings of my printer? the options are there but greyed out!

how do i change the quality settings of my printer? the options are there but greyed out! ie on my old HP I could print in draft if i wanted to print a doc to read and then bin...the option/box is there but greyed out so I can't select. HELP!!!

You can change the background display color in the playback preferences, either black, white, or checkerboard. This does not change the output color. If you want to add a color to the video, you have to place a custom generator underneath your video and change the color in the inspector.

  • C4380 Print Quality Default Settings

Does the C4380 printer have the ability to default print quality to "Fast/Economical" (Draft) rethare than "Normal". I only need to print in draft 90% of the time, but in order to save ink, I have to change preferences each time from "normal" to "fast/economical". This seems time-consuming, costly and environmentally wasteful.  I would have thought it was possible to set the printer to ALWAYS print in Draft, unless changed by the user on a per-session or per-occasion basis.  I have looked in User Guide to see if default can be changed but never managed to find anything.

This querie has some age on it but friend just give me a C4380 that she replaced with new hp printer.
Anyway to set default on 4380 from Windows:
    >start
    >contol panel
    >printers & faxes
    right > c4380
    >properties
on general tab @ bottom >printing preferences (choose draft from dropdown box)
    >apply
    >ok
also most of my printing is black

  • Print Quality Question

When using the J6400 series there are several ways to set print quality....  There is the button on the front of the machine as well as the printing shortcuts that show up under preferences when you click on print.  Which selection over-rides the other and takes priority?  I have several customized shortcuts that use fast-draft and black cartridge only.  I'm hoping the button on the machine that always defaults to mid-level quality doesn't take priority over my customized settings.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
AppleWorks changes the resolution of all graphic formats except PICT to 72 dpi. There are a couple of things you can do improve the print quality of images.
    1. Turn on Fractional Character widths in Preferences > General > Topic: Text. This is a text setting, but it does improve the print quality of images.
Open the image in Preview (32-bit) or GraphicConverter & Save As... a PICT to use in AppleWorks. PICT is generally the best format to use for inserting or pasting into AppleWorks.

  • Print quality using iphoto

How can I change the print quality when printing photos through iphoto on my iMac? I am running OSX 10.7.2 I have installed my printer with the latest downloaded drivers etc. The printer is a HP photosmart 5510. I have gone into system preferences, then print and scan. From here I can see my printer but can't see anyway of changing the print quality. Similarly, if I go into print settings via iPhoto I have the same problem. I have been able to change the quality in Safari but can't see how to create a default setting for photo printing at the highest quality

    Hello:
One way of assuring high quality would be to export the photo to the desktop (at highest quality) and then print from there.
In my own case, I find that when I occasionally print a photo from iPhoto, the quality is quite good.

  • Print Quality Issue 6500a e710n-z

How can I change the print quality setting up or down. The preferences are locked on 300 dpi no matter what I change. Sometimes if I delete all drivers and reload the setting will come back at 600 dpi but again the settings are un-changable. I'm using windows 7 software.  I have tried for 2 weeks to get an answer and no one seems to know. Please help!

    Hi bnachsin,
hmmmm...can you describe the software application you are using when printing, and attempting to change the print settings? Also, can you note which OS (Win7, etc) you are using?
Lastly, can you describe if this only happen with certain print jobs (text, etc) or all print jobs, and describe what you are printing?
    bhachsin,
it occured to me that this device may be relying on a media sensor to perform paper type/width detection.
Question: are you using specific/special paper (colored, pre-printed paper, or cheques) for your print job?
Quick test: If you are using special paper, try using a white, plain sheet of paper instead of the paper you using and let me know the results.

  • Print quality on Epson Stylus Photo R800

    Hi...
I'm using Lightroom 3.6 and an Epson Stylus Photo R800. This printer is capable of printing very high quality pictures, as I know by using it for almost 5 years.
I have bought Lightroom about 6 month ago. I have tried anything I can think off to get those fabulus pictures out of my Epson printer. I alterd color managment settings, changed print resolutions, downloaded new printerdriver, ... Nothing works. Print quality when printing from Lightroom is very poor. Bad colors (dark), stripes over the whole image, it looks like nothing realy.
One of the things that I noticed is that the maximum resolution for printing in LR is 720 ppi. My Epson is capable of 1550 ppi.
I see a lot of discussion going about print quality with lightroom... I think however this is a more basic problem. My print qualiti is realy very very bad...
Does anyone have similar problems or (even better) a hint to a solution?
    Note,
When I export a picture to .jpg format (I shoot in RAW only), and print this directly from Windows, I do get the perfect picture a was used to... I cannot believe that Lightroom is unable to do the same.
    Thanks!
    Erik.

  • EPSON Stylus Color 1160 changing default print quality under 10.4

    Greetings.
I have the above printer and since Epson no longer produces a driver that will function under 10.4 I am using the Gimp driver. Which works fine.
The printer is connected to our server and so functions as a ‘shared printer’ in the network. The server runs 10.4.8.
However I would like to tweak the default settings for all users.
One of the things we use this printer for is to make drafts for checking text or layouts. The default setting is for an excellent print quality. I would like to change this to a lower resolution (saves ink > saves money > saves planet > reduces carbon footprint, ;-)))
Anybody knows how to do this?
    Thanks

    Greg good morning,
It did solve it partly. Here is what I have now. If printing directly from the computer the printer is connected from now is no problem, the settings have changed.
However as this is my server (the Epson is connected to it via USB) printing from the other machines have not changed the standard dialog box.
When I try access the Epson setup via http://127.0.0.1:631/printers on the individual computers I get:
Forbidden. You don't have permission to access the resource on this server. <</div>
Any suggestions as to how to solve this so I have there also the standard box changed? Reason is of course that on the individual computers the dialog is generated locally and their settings are following the standard rule than send to the printer, bypassing the setting of the printer. So question is, how to get in to this dialogue?

  • I have HP Deskjet 3510 connected wireless - problem is that it wants to print only black and white - is there a color button I am missing?  The print quality report is fine in color etc.

I have a HP Deskjet 3510 and it wants to print only in black and white.
The Print Quality Report is fine and in color.
Is there a color button I am missing?

In the Print & Scan system preferences, does it indicate it is using a generic printer driver or a Gutenprint driver?
Also, if you click on Options & Supplies, you might want to check and see if has to be enabled. That kind of sounds odd though.
Another thing is it might not be showing. If the bottom of the print dialog has a button that says "Show Details," click it. Then, you can change settings in the popup menu.

  • How can I see the photo quality settings in iLife'06 books

I assembled a 100 page book using iLife'05 over the last week or so. Luckily I hadn't ordered the book before learning about the new "improved print quality" when using iLife'06.
Well, iLife'06 finally arrived today and I installed it and... Well, do I need to scrap my old book or can I just go ahead and order through iLife'06 and get that new great quality?
While still running iLife'05 I printed my book to a PDF file and the file size for the PDF is 150.4MB.
I then installed iLife'06 and printed the same book to another PDF file and the size of the file was ONLY 57.4MB. Almost a third the size. If anything I was expecting the PDF file to be much larger (double?).
I even did a side by side comparison of the two PDF files using Preview and I've got to say that the '05 version was better than the '06. This makes sense since the file size is much larger in the '05 I would expect the image quality to be better.
So, now I'm worried. How can I see what the settings are and how can I tell what I'll get when I'm going to order a book?
    Thanks!
    PowerBook G4 15 1.67Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    Chuck:
The Print to PDF file is not exactly the same as the one iPhoto creates for uploading and printing. Here's how to get the iPhoto version. It involves going thru the ordering process until the book is assembled and then finding and copying the pdf file to the desktop and then canceling the ordering process.
How to Find the iPhoto Generated PDF File:
1 - Start the ordering process and stop after the book has been assembled and you get to the Order pane where you select the cover color, copies, etc.
2 - Go to the Finder and select the Go->Go to Folder menu item (CommandShiftG).
3 - copy the following, “/private/var/tmp/folders.501/TemporaryItems/iPhoto” (for Panther the path is "/private/tmp/501/TemporaryItems/iPhoto“), and paste into the Go to Folder search box.
4 - the iPhoto folder will be brought up. In it will be the PDF file that was generated by iPhoto. You can copy it (Option-drag) to the Desktop to review and/or save.
Note: the iPhoto folder will not exist before you start the ordering process and is deleted after the order is completed or after you cancel the order and quit iPhoto.

  • Officejet Pro L7590 Print Quality Problems - Black/Yellow Printhead

    Officejt Pro L7590 All-In-One
Running on Windows 7 64 bit, USB connected to computer
Approx 2.5 yrs old; has printed 30,000 pages.
Issue:  Black/Yellow printhead replaced about 500-1000 pages ago; new unit only tested as "Fair" in diagnostics, even though it was fresh outta the box.  Print Quality good.
About two weeks ago, printer refused to print, flashing ambler "!", etc., error message regarding black/yellow printhead.
Ordered replacement ($71 again -- ouch!  Whole printer only cost $199 30 months ago).Again, new unit only "fair" in diagnostic (original Cyan/Magenta printhead still reads as "good").
New printhead required much cleaning and aligning, and now prints with large gaps on a regular basis down the page.  Talked to tech guy @ Staples where i bought it; his only "helpful" suggestion was that most people just toss the printers the first time the printheads go bad.
    Print heads are separately warranted.
    My questions:
    (1)  What else is there that's screwing up my print quality,a nd is it fixable?
    (2)  Can i get my $ back on the two printheads that didn't fix the printer's problems?
