Print Samples

I would like to take small (2" X 2" approx.) samples of critical areas of a large image, arrange them as a collage on a smaller sized image and print these samples out so that I can evaluate the samples before committing to making a full sized print.  I believe that this would be an effective technique in reducing the amount of wasted paper and ink.  I have tried selecting small sections of a print but have been unsuccessful in creating a collage of multiple samples.

  • HP Deskjet 5940, Properties, "give print sample'' doesn't work right.

    When I want to see a print sample before the real print will be started - I did define this- then I see an old print sample. When I ignore this and make the real print, it is the print that I really wanted. When I repeat this action then I get the real print sample. Only after a restart of the computer the problem is there again: I see the same old print sample, only the first time. So that old print sample sticks in the memory and I see it always and only when I order the first print after the startup of the computer. The real print will be given anyway.

  • How to print a report on local/network printer(Sample Code)

    Hi forms Gurus,
    I'm looking for sample code witch allow to print report on local/network printer from Forms builder.
    Plz help! it's very important.
    TYAG.

    Armand,
    for Forms and Reports 9i, the only chance is to configure the printer as a network printer that is accessible to the Reports Server. In this case pass the printer's network name as desname and destype=printer as the Reports destination (e.g. desname=\network\printername destype=printer).
    Alterantively, there exist an unsupported utility orarrp that you can get from the otn.oracle.com/products/forms web page.

    Hi there,
    If you have previously setup some scheduled print deliveries, you will need to cancel these from where they were originally setup.
    They were most likely setup through your e-Print centre login so you should be able to cancel them there. Here's a link to some infomation on Managing Scheduled Delivery Print Apps:

    Hello sue,
    FontBook is a good one. Shareware fee is only $10. Has quite a few different layouts to choose from. You can try it out before buying.

  • Printing text using jdk 1.4...only first character in string output

    I have read way too many forum postings and still can't get simple ascii to come out my printer. Please don't point me to awt printing samples. I don't want the overhead/baggage of graphics contexts when they shouldn't be needed.
    If I create a printer that's a file (set to generic/ascii), then after printing and giving a filename the file contents look ok. So, this seems to be a DocFlavor issue or something.
    However when I try to print to a network printer (usb attached), I only get at best a single character on my page.
    The following is tracing from my print method (shows text to be printed and doc flavors supported by printer):
    PrinterImpl::print(text=hello world)
    image/gif; class="[B"
    image/gif; class="java.io.InputStream"
    image/gif; class="java.net.URL"
    image/jpeg; class="[B"
    image/jpeg; class="java.io.InputStream"
    image/jpeg; class="java.net.URL"
    image/png; class="[B"
    image/png; class="java.io.InputStream"
    image/png; class="java.net.URL"
    application/x-java-jvm-local-objectref; class="java.awt.print.Pageable"
    application/x-java-jvm-local-objectref; class="java.awt.print.Printable"
    application/octet-stream; class="[B"
    application/octet-stream; class="java.net.URL"
    application/octet-stream; class="java.io.InputStream"
    It appears, that besides copious image printing support (why PNG and not TEXT?!?!?!?) I can print Printable's from the awt api, as well as byte arrays and input streams. I wish to not use the awt printing api.
    I have tried all mentioned DocFlavors regarding BYTE_ARRAY.AUTOSENSE, etc. Nothing gives me more than a single character of output.
    Any ideas? I'm getting a little burnt out on this problem.
    Thanks.

    I cannot comment on the 2 examples you referenced, because I don't have a Postscript printer, but your own example does not work, at least under Win2K, neither on a USB nor an ASCII printer, here is why (aside from the fact that it contains 2 or 3 formal errors).
    I am trying desparately to print a simple ASCII file on a USB printer under Win2K since weeks and found 2 problems, but no solution so far.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Java PrintServiceLookup.lookupPrintServices() returns nothing
    =============================================================
    I want to print a simple ASCII file on a USB printer under Win2K and found 2 problems. Here is the 1st one.
    PrintServiceLookup.lookupPrintServices(<DocFlavor>, <AttributeSet>) returns nothing when I specify any AttributeSet:
    PrintRequestAttributeSet aset = new HashPrintRequestAttributeSet();
    I tried
    aset.add(new Copies(1));
    or
    aset.add(MediaSizeName.ISO_A4);
    I tried it with JDK 1.4.2 and with Java 6, same problem.
    When I specify null for AttributeSet, I get as many services as I have printers specified in the Printers folder of the Control panel.
    I have scanned quite a few contributions about this subject, and it looks like this problem has been around since years, but I haven't found a solution.
    But there is a circumvention of the problem for a parallel printer (at least an HP Laserjet 4 Plus): forget lookupPrintServices, just use the default printer. It works. Here are the essential code lines to print a simple ASCII file in Win2K.
    //String fileID = = args[0];
    FileInputStream textStream = new FileInputStream(fileID);
    PrintService defService = PrintServiceLookup.lookupDefaultPrintService();
    DocFlavor myFormat = DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.AUTOSENSE;
    PrintRequestAttributeSet aset = new HashPrintRequestAttributeSet();
    aset.add(MediaSizeName.ISO_A4);
    DocPrintJob job = defService.createPrintJob();
    Doc myDoc = new SimpleDoc(textStream, myFormat, null);
    try {
    job.print(myDoc, aset);
    } catch (PrintException pe) {
    System.out.println(pe.toString());
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Cannot print on a USB printer with Java PrintService
    ====================================================
    I want to print a simple ASCII file on a USB printer under Win2K and
    found 2 problems. Here is the 2nd one.
    Even though
    PrintServiceLookup.lookupPrintServices(<DocFlavor>, <AttributeSet>)
    returns nothing when I specify any AttributeSet, I can still print on the default printer, which I get by
    PrintService defServicedefService = PrintServiceLookup.lookupDefaultPrintService();
    but only on a parallel printer (HP Laserjet 4 Plus), either directly attached or over the network. When I try the very same code on a locally USB-attached printer, the printer is obviously reacting, but nothing is printed.
    In case of a Lexmark 730 (an ink printer), the driver even lies, it has printed 100%,
    on a Samsung CLP-510 (a color laser) the ready light flashes twice, that's all.
    The file to be printed has 5 lines and a "0C"X at the end in order to force a page eject at the end.
    I tried it with JDK 1.4.2 and with Java 6, same problem.
    I should mention that I can print that little file out of the editor Textpad without any problem.

  • 3D Printers supporting Windows 8.1 direct printing API

    Hi,
    Does someone know which 3D printers have drivers that are supported by the Windows 8 API? (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/bg183398.aspx)
    It seems to work with 3D System's Cube 2 (http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwindows/2013/08/22/3d-printing-support-in-windows-8-1-explained/), but I've tried my Cube 3 with, e.g., the 3D Builder app (http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-us/app/3d-builder/75f3f766-13b3-45e9-a62f-29590d5781f2),
    and Windows won't find the printer.
    Thanks!

    There is a code sample on MSDN code gallery, you can try running it to find more information. https://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/3D-Printing-Sample-b5b75c86/

  • Pdf document setup for print issues

    Hey all,
    I just happened to have a friend who is getting married asking me to make their invitations. I am not at all familiar with the print process (I'm a noob, just getting started), but managed myself to go with a print house that offers me guidelines about how to prepare my final artwork for them to print ( outline texts, line work no thinner than .5pt, Coated fogra 39, PDF/x-1a, no flattened artwork, cmyk values... I think I'm not forgetting anything).
    I followed all the instructions and saved my PDF, but when I open it to previz, I get a horrendous result :O !
    All the artwork seems to "break" (you know, sawed edges), but what's more worrying, is that there are kind of very thin gaps, transparent ones, that appear, as if I had the document sliced. I've opened the pdf in Photoshop, and added a red layer background to save a copy and insert it here, see if anyone can help me out on this one.
    I would greatly appreciate your feedback,
    Thanks and enjoy the weekend, those of you who can!
    So any red slice that appears on my attached converted PDF document, is in fact transparent.
    Ok uploader image tells me that "this type of image is forbidden"... Go figure!
    anyways, if anyone is familiar with this issue and can help me out, please, you will save the date (and my life haha)

    @silkrooster Image size is as requested for print by the print house: 1795 x 1287 pixels (300dpi), it will be printed on a A6 (european standard) and size (with bleed and all):
    152mm x 109mm
    5.98” x 4.29”
    (300 dpi)
    @Ton Frederiks
    I do have all the original artwork in Illustrator, just wanted to check the resulting PDF Export in other apps... You know, curiosity killed the cat hahah... You explanation makes very much sense, although I'm a newbie, but I thought it might be something of that nature... I do hope anyway, that I could get a printed sample card before ordering the whole bunch... I would not like at all to ruin my friends wedding...
    I have so much admiration for you all print artists and illustrators! I love that universe, but also am aware of the complexity and extended knowledge one must have... But hey, you gotta start somewhere!
    Thanks a bunch, I'll have to wait on Monday to see what the Print House tells me, and hope not to have to bother you all anymore with this!
    Have a great one!

  • How to increase the font size of  print ouput in SAP 4.7

    Hi,
    How to increase the font size of the ouput of Write statement on PRINT ?  in 4.7
    THANKS IN ADVANCE
    MOOSA

    You can do that using the PRINT-CONTROL Statement.This will only work when you send the list to the printer.Sample code is as below :
    REPORT zfont NO STANDARD PAGE HEADING LINE-SIZE 80 LINE-COUNT 65.
    Start of print-control
    NEW-PAGE PRINT ON.
    PRINT-CONTROL FUNCTION 'SF000'.
    WRITE: / 'This is CPI 20'.
    SKIP.
    PRINT-CONTROL FUNCTION 'SF020'.
    WRITE: / 'This is CPI 6'.
    SKIP.
    PRINT-CONTROL FUNCTION 'SF008'.
    WRITE: / 'This is CPI 12'.
    Depending on your SAP printer device, this may also work
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 1 LPI 6.
    you can try to change font and LPI numbers
    WRITE: / 'font 1 lpi 6'.
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 2 LPI 6.
    WRITE: / 'font 2 lpi 6'.
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 3 LPI 6.
    WRITE: / 'font 3 lpi 6'.
    End of print-control
    NEW-PAGE PRINT OFF.

  • RGB colors when ordering prints?

    I've been working on a high sports team poster, designed in Photoshop Elements. I hope to get it printed through the iPhoto on-line service.
    The background color was set in PSE by using the RGB values of the school colors. Will this information be used when it is printed? The red looks a bit pale on my inkjet printer sample and I was hoping that higher quality printers could take advantage of the info for more accurate color.

    As long as the image file has the standard RGB color profile, the colors should be reproduced faithfully. I have PSE set to embed the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 color profile whenever saving a jpg file.
    I've not ordered prints from Apple so can't attest to the accuracy of the color. However, if they are way off Apple has been good at making things right.

  • 3D Bar code printing

    Hi,
    I was asked to print sample documents using 3D Bar code. Does anyone have any idea on this? Any hints would be really helpful.
    Thank you,
    Chandra

    Hi
    Do u want it in scripts or smartforms???
    A barcode solution consists of the following:
    - a barcode printer
    - a barcode reader
    - a mobile data collection application/program
    A barcode label is a special symbology to represent human readable information such as a material number or batch number
    in machine readable format.
    There are different symbologies for different applications and different industries. Luckily, you need not worry to much about that as the logistics supply chain has mostly standardized on 3 of 9 and 128 barcode symbologies - which all barcode readers support and which SAP support natively in it's printing protocols.
    You can print barcodes from SAP by modifying an existing output form.
    Behind every output form is a print program that collects all the data and then pass it to the form. The form contains the layout as well as the font, line and paragraph formats. These forms are designed using SAPScript (a very easy but frustratingly simplistic form format language) or SmartForms that is more of a graphical form design tool.
    Barcodes are nothing more than a font definition and is part of the style sheet associated with a particular SAPScript form. The most important aspect is to place a parameter in the line of the form that points to the data element that you want to represent as barcode on the form, i.e. material number. Next you need to set the font for that parameter value to one of the supported barcode symbologies.
    The next part of the equation can be a bit tricky as you will need to get a printer to print that barcode font. Regular laser printers does not normally print barcode fonts, only specialized industrial printers that is specifically designed to support that protocol and that uses specialized label media and heat transfer (resin) ribbon to create the sharp image required for barcodes.
    Not to fear though, there are two ways to get around this:
    - You can have your IT department do some research -
    most laser printers can accept a font cartridge/dimm chip (similar to computer memory), called a BarDIMM that will allow a laser printer to support the printing of barcodes.
    - Secondly, you can buy software that you can upload in your SAP print Server that will convert the barcode symbology as an image that will print on a regular laser printer. I found that this option results in less sharper barcodes. This option is really if you need to convert a large quantity of printers (>10) to support barcodes.
    - Thirdly, you can buy a third party software like Barcode.dll and install on your frontend PC connected to the laser printer.
    Now you have a barcode printed - what next?
    Well there are two options, depending on your business requirements:
    - You can use an existing SAP transaction on a regular workstation and get a barcode wedge reader to hook up between the keyboard and the PC. These wedge readers comes in a wand or scanner format. There are even wireless wedge scanners available that allows you to roam a few yards from the workstation to scan a label. This approach is mostly used where you want to prevent human errors in typing in long material, batch or serial numbers in receiving or issuing of material. The problem is that it's just replacing the keyboard input and you are basically locked down in one location and have to bring all the material to that location to process.
    - Another solution is to use SAPConsole transactions
    or write your own ABAP Dialog programs that will fit onto a barcode enabled wireless handheld terminal and that will follow the business logic as executed on the shop floor.
    These programs are highly complex exercises in industrial engineering and ergonomics because of the limited screen sizes and limited ability to accept keyboard input. The user is instructed step-by-step and only scan and push F-keys to interact with the SAP system. Scan, scan, beep, beep, enter - highly automated.
    Only Se71 is used to create a barcode
    To Create a Bar code prefix:
    1) Go to T-code - SPAD -> Full Administration -> Click on Device Type -> Double click the device for which you wish to create the print control -> Click on Print Control tab ->Click on change mode -> Click the plus sign to add a row or prefix say SBP99 (Prefix must start with SBP) -> save you changes , it will ask for request -> create request and save
    2) Now when you go to SE73 if you enter SBP00 for you device it will add the newly created Prefix
    Create a character format C1.Assign a barcode to the character format.Check the check box for the barcode.
    The place where you are using the field value use like this
    <C1> &itab-field& </C1>.
    You will get the field value in the form of barcode.
    Which barcode printer are you using ? Can you download this file and see.
    http://www.servopack.de/Files/HB/ZPLcommands.pdf.
    It will give an idea about barcode commands.
