Print Screen key missing

Hello, as you know Lenovo´s design team has decided to remove the "infamous" 3 windows keys that almost nobody used... sorry but I was a daily user of the Print screen key to get screen captures pasted to my documents and presentations, if you have ever used office´s onenote you know how useful is this simple application. To my surprise with the printscreen key removal the application to gather screen clippins has gone too, what weird pundit thought this was useless? Could you suggestme  a shortcut to this operation... some simple one please!
I won´t like to have to open a new application, use some keys combination to select the screen portion, copy and paste to the application board, save as an image file, go to your document and insert the saved file... oh my god! all this for the sake of simple design!)
You Know Mark I am a loyal Thinkpad user, always open to innovation and I like The Edge´s concept so much  that I bought one a month ago, but don´t you think you have gone too far?. I get almost crazy when I don´t know if my disk is working or the system has stalled because there isn´t a LED to indicate disk activity. Battery charged? you must boot your notebook and watch the screen indicator, same for bluetooth and wi-fi. How to configure trackpoint and touch pad? there is no any help in any place.
You certainly did an extraordinary design work with the keyboard, trackpoint and touchpad, and some Thinkvantage applications present, but we feel you felt short behind possible perfection with the lack of such minimum details... take a look at Thinkpadsforum of Bill Morrow to sense the controversy.
A last question, why didn´t you use the case design concept of the X100e. A nice departure from the black box, a nice red box. By the way... without the silver trimmings that bears our Edge cafeteria´s tray as resembled to some English computer reviewer .

hi,
i agree with u that , changes about fn function annoying , i also surprised when i cloudnt see PrintScreen on F keys , but then i saw there s PrtSc  on right down side between AltGr - Ctrl
and it s also bad there s no indicator lights , at least there must be on power button  , to see cpu usage etc.  it s very simple thing  , i couldnt see any reason not to put that lights ...

  • The Print Screen Key under Windows

    I just picked up my Apple aluminum keyboard (with the numeric keypad) and absolutely think it's the bomb. I have gotten to the point where any other keyboard just isn't as easy to use, and I do a LOT of typing at work.
    That being said, there are a few keys that I use on a routine basis that don't seem to work under the Apple aluminum keyboard. I found a workaround for the Insert key (press left shift key and the zero (0) on the numeric keypad) and that's fixed, but I am at a loss to find an equivalent keypress for the Print Screen key.
    I see a lot of solutions online that recommend obtaining key mapper software to make the keyboard work, but this is a locked-down environment in which all software of that kind will not work; it is therefore not an option in this case.
    I'm thinking that, since there is a key equivalent for the Insert key, chances are strong that there is also a key equivalent for the Print Screen key. So, does anyone know which key combination that might be?
    Thanks in advance.

    Agh! The dreaded "Go ahead and install this..." phrase again.
    Not many hardware devices ou there that don't need some sort of driver to be installed.
    Some drivers are provided by the operating system, some from the hardware manufacturer.
    Again, my workplace is a locked-down environment in which NO OUTSIDE SOFTWARE CAN BE INSTALLED. We're not permitted, and can get into serious trouble if we attempt it. So, it's really not worth it to try... and as we don't have "Admin" on the desktops anyway, the chances of it actually working are incredibly slim.
    Again ? First time you tell about it. Like the first time you told about the non-Mac you use with the keyboard...
    In other words, if it ain't in the keyboard itself, as in the "left shift/numeric keypad 0 = Insert" combo, there is nothing I can do.
    I do keep the company-supplied keyboard on the same desk, off to the side, so all I have to do is reach over and hit the required keys, but I really thought there might be a way to do this, so long as someone knew the proper key combos. Perhaps there is no answer.
    Perhaps...

  • Portege R830-10V - How to get Print Screen key to work? (PRTSC)

    Please help. I am new to the Toshiba. My print screen key doesn't do anything and I need to use it every day.
    Thanks, Brenda

    Hi
    Pressing PRTSC button copies the screen shot of the display in the Systray.
    Then you can use the CTRL + V key combiantion to past this printscreen in Word or other image editig software.
    Does it work for you?
    How the PRTSC is marked on the button? Is it marked grey?
    If yes, then this means that you will need to press FN + PRTSC to print the screen

    Hi Poornima,
    Welcome to Lenovo forums
    As I understand that you are facing issue with laptop physically missing print screen button in your G560 laptop.
    As you are looking for an alternative option, I would suggest you use snipping tool for taking screen shots.
    This snipping tool is available in windows 7, to access snipping tool  go to search and type snipping tool, then the tool appears.
    Hope this helps!

  • I need help figuring out how to use my print screen key

    I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv7-1245. The key is above the num lock key  - it has "home" which works when I press it but under that it has "prt sc" but I don't know what to hit along with it to make it work. I tried the shift key, the alt key, the fn key and nothing works. I even looked in the manual and those keys above the num lock key are not even referenced.

    to capture active windows the key combo is ctrl+alt+fn+print sc

  • Print screen and Function "fn" key not working.Mute button stays red constantly.

    Hi,
    I bought an hp pavilion dv6-2154ca two weeks ago. It has windows 7 64-bit, nvidia Geforce 210m 1Gb graphics card, and my function "fn" key is not working at all. I downloaded the quick launch buttons driver a few days ago, according to the advice of an hp advisor, so any suggestions on how to get my fn key working.
    My mute button stays red, even when the volume is on and i'm watching videos. This problem didn't exist until i downloaded the audio driver.
    My print screen key doesn't work either, i got to know it when i was trying to print screen images for school work.
    Thanks.

    Woudl advise a BIOS upgrade when downgrading to Windows XP, the European BIOS driver for your version of notebook is;
    [BIOS upgrade |http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=UK&selCategory =2&selFamily=2&selSeries=178&selProduct=784&selSho rtMod=null&language=13&selOS=10&selType=all&yearup load=&monthupload=&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=al lMachines&search=&action=search&macId=&country=8&s electedLanguage=13&type=all&page=1&ID=65754&OSID=-1&driverLanguage=42]
    When the BIOS has been installed, re-install the Hotkeys/Controls driver on the link below;

  • PrtScn Fn key... aka Print Screen = where??

    Quick question from a W540 "Workstation" user.
    I often use a quick screen dump using the PrtScn (Print Screen) key to paste into a MS Word or Power Point quick presentation/paste board.
    I had to get SnagIt which is very cumbersome for quick grabs into memory and paste.  Good for detail/final work, but not for grab on the go. Invoking MS's Windows Snipping tool also requires several key strokes.
    So my question:
    Fn+B Has the same function as the Break key on a conventional keyboard.
    Fn+P Has the same function as the Pause key on a conventional keyboard.
    Fn+S Has the same function as the SysRq key on a conventional keyboard.
    Fn+K Has the same function as the ScrLK key on a conventional keyboard.
    BUT where is the Fn+? key stroke to grab the screen???
    Indeed this is supposed to be a Workstation!?
    Solved!

    Isn't it a key by itself between the right Alt and right Ctrl?

  • Openbox Print Screen keybind Won't work

    In .config/openbox/rc.xml i've got:
    <!-- Screenshot -->
    <keybind key="Print">
    <action name="Execute">
    <command>scrot -q 100 -e 'mv $f ~/Screenshots/'</command>
    </action>
    </keybind>
    Nothing happens when i press the Print Screen key.I checked with Xev and X detects the print screen key as "Print", why is it not working? How can i make it work?

    It works for me, it just uses the default filename if i don't specify one.
    The command from the man page is
    scrot '%Y-%m-%d_$wx$h.png' -e 'mv $f ~/shots/'
    my command is
    scrot -q 100 -e 'mv $f ~/Screenshots/'
    It is the command from the man page minus the filename part.
    It seems I don't have to specify file name, the command works perfectly fine on my end, dunno why it fails for you :I (perhaps you don't have ~/Screenshots/ ?)
    I can try changing the command though, nothing to lose i guess. I'll just make it execute something i know to work, like terminator...
    Yes, i changed the keybind to "W-w" from "Print" and it opens terminator, but if it's set to "Print" nothing will happen.

  • Want to include this print screen file

    I want to include a print screen file to have error evaluated. How do? I have reload firefox,,,cleaned system,,via all your instructions..What someone tell me about this script error..but can't fine a way to include file in email

    Yes there is a screen caputre method in the Robot class. I think you can also do it by hitting the print screen key which,under Windows will place the image on the System clipboard, then you should be able to get the image from there. I have never tried it that way though, just a theory.

  • "Print Screen" in Windows

    How do you "Print Screen" when in Windows version on the MacBook? I know that for the Mac version we use Apple + Shift + 3; but what is the equivalent on the PC side? With no "Print Screen" key on the keyboard - what is the shortcut?
    Desperate for help! Thanks!

    Sadly there isn't one; try remap.exe -- not 100% sure it'll help, but it's worth a go.

  • Gnome 3.4.1 Print Screen won't take screenshots.

    I've updated to Gnome 3.4, and now the Print Screen key doesn't work.
    If I press the key, the desktop blanks and I hear the shutter sound, but the screenshot dialog won't show up.
    If I open the Screenshot tool, and press Take Screenshot, it blanks and plays the shutter sound, and the dialog appears.
    So far, I can save the screenshot to the clipboard using Ctrl + Print
    Any help?

  • Page up and down in a mailbox, the Clear key and Print Screen

    I have an Apple Pro keyboard ( the one with a numeric keypad on the right side) for an iMac and a wireless mouse. Using the keyboard is VERY confusing. There are many documents and lots of pages on the different key combinations to use for different functions but I could not find one clear document that explains what certain keys do and/or show how to accomplish certain functions...  I am a a very frustrated new Apple (formerly Windows) user astonished that I company that is supposedly delivering user friendly, easy to use products provides a keyboard that one cannot figure out.
    1. Page Up and Down in Mail
    I have some imported mailboxes with a few hundred Emails which I have to mark "read". I could use the Page Down functionality to quickly highlight all messages in a mailbox but could not locate anything that actually works. Apple's document at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5636?viewlocale=en_US indicates that pressing 9 (with Num Lock off) provides Page Down. Num Lock appears to be the Clear key. When I tried to press Clear it deleted messages and no combination worked with 9 ...
    I tried all other suggestions from other discussions but nothing worked.
    2. The Clear key
    I'd appreciate an explanation of what this key is really supposed to do in different applications.
    3. Print Screen
    Apple's documentation tells me that on my specific keyboard I should use F14 to accomplish this. This doesn't work. It appears that one has to press 3 keys (shift-command-3) to accomplish this. What happened to the one key Prt-Scr key? Is there a key (or can one assign this function to an unused key) to make life a little less "sophisticated"?  Is there a way to know which keys are not assigned to any function?
    A pointer to an up-to-date document (which provides info that actually works) would be greatly appreciated.
