  • Print Screen Problem

    In a form I create a trigger on a button click, that run the ORACLE function PRINT, for print the screen.
    In WIN NT it work correcly, but I have problem with WIN 2000 that don't work!

    I thought I'd share this with everyone...it appears there IS a way to save a screen shot to the clipboard:
    http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=530935
    Unfortunately, I haven't been able to try it yet as I got ambushed by some sort of hardware/software problem and am still trying to reinstall Leopard.
    However, the thread above inspired yet another question:
    Is there some way to modify my keyboard so that I can accomplish the same as
    cmdctrl+shift3 by pushing just two customized keys (e.g. a1), with two other keys simulating cmdctrl+shift4?
    It just seems a little clumsy to have to hold four keys down, especially if I'm going to be taking lots of screen shots. Incidentally, I have two keyboards, the keyboard built into my MacBook Pro and a separate Kensington keyboard.
    Thanks.

  • Problem Print Screening and Pasting

    Sometimes I have no problem doing a Print Screen then pasting it into photoshop, but MOST of the time... I do. I do a print screen and it does nothing at all when I trying to do a paste into photoshop.
    It has no problem pasting the print screen into like... paint.
    Is there anything I am doing wrong, or can do to fix this issue? Driving me nuts! Thanks.

    There has to be a way to fix this by now. I keep having to restart like.... 50 times a day. No exaggeration, I need to take a lot of print screens during the day.

  • How to use Print Screen function (part deux)?

    The previous thread for the Print Screen function has been marked as read only, and won't allow any replies. I tried all of the suggestions (PrtScr, CTRL + C + PrtScr, etc.) and then CTRL V into MS Paint, but Print Screen still doesn't work on my machine.
    I'm running Win 7 on a HP Pavilion laptop cv7-6b32us. I suspect there's a switch somewhere in Win 7 or HP that allows the key to be turned off. I know of this because my previous employer did not want anyone doing print screens due to HIPAA violations. Thus, the functionality was turned off. Those of us in I.T. were provided a third-party software that aloowed us to do the same function, but it was not released to the physicians or nursing staff. If I have to, I'll go out and buy the software. I really need this functionality for a class I'm taking.
    Thanks!

  • F14 not working as PRINT SCREEN for XP with apple numeric keypad

    i posted this elsewhere but i am basically desperate to get a couple things finalized over here so apologies if no one knows how to solve this one. just sort of hoping to get some things out of my hair once and for all...
    i have an apple keyboard with numeric keypad on my mac pro running windows xp and windows 7 in addition to Lion.
    for some reason the F14 key is not getting me a print screen despite spending a /lot/ of time trying to get this working.
    can anyone help me get this figure out finally? there is a lot of info on the net about this but now much help.
    mac tech articles seem pretty sure that F14 should be working.http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5636
    what am i missing?

    hi mooblie.
    a huge (HUGE!) thanks here for the help. i have been googling this off and on for about a year believe it or not.
    anyway, the lowdown appears to be Snip tool in win 7 as you indicate (right click i think it was to a save on taskbar once it was opened) and then i used Applekeys2 which i downloaded while in windows xp.
    two notes for those that come after. 1. i did download keyboard layout creator which is a windows tool but it seemed much more powerful (and complicated) than i needed at least for this initial issue to get me going finally.
    2. i can't remember if snip tool will drop an image file in a folder or on the desktop but i did FINALLY REALIZE that part of my problem here with windows XP was that you HAVE TO PASTE the captured image into a windows image program (i am using "Paint" i think which i also pin to the taskbar). this was a major pain because having gotten used to the mac screenshot i was totally clueless that it did not function so seamlessly in windows!!
    anyway, in short the Mac screencapture could be considered a "screencapture and save to file" and the windows (XP at least) could be called a "screencapture to windows whatever memory and then DON'T FORGET you will have to paste it somewhere..."
    this requires a /lot/ of clickthroughs so i am still looking for:
    A. one shot screencapture to file on desktop funtion in the windows OS's
    B. screencapture /selected/ area instead of whole screen since this also requires post editing that i would like to avoid.
    anyway - BIG THANKS.

  • Print screen and Function "fn" key not working.Mute button stays red constantly.

    Hi,
    I bought an hp pavilion dv6-2154ca two weeks ago. It has windows 7 64-bit, nvidia Geforce 210m 1Gb graphics card, and my function "fn" key is not working at all. I downloaded the quick launch buttons driver a few days ago, according to the advice of an hp advisor, so any suggestions on how to get my fn key working.
    My mute button stays red, even when the volume is on and i'm watching videos. This problem didn't exist until i downloaded the audio driver.
    My print screen key doesn't work either, i got to know it when i was trying to print screen images for school work.
    Thanks.

    Woudl advise a BIOS upgrade when downgrading to Windows XP, the European BIOS driver for your version of notebook is;

  • Print Screen Opens on Page Immediately - How do I stop it?

    Hi,
    First I'd like to thank blarman74 and Andy because I worked off of the information on this thread:
    Autoprint Print Friendly Page
    Autoprint Print-Friendly Page
    I created a Button: URL call to javascript:PrintPopup()
    I put this code in the report's HTML Header:
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function PrintPopup () {
    var url;
    url = 'f?p=&APP_ID.:2004:&SESSION.::::::YES';
    w = open(url,"winLov","Scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=900,height=1000");
    if (w.opener == null)
    w.opener = self;
    w.focus();
    </script>
    And in the report's Region Footer I put this code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    window.print();
    </script>
    Now, here is the problem. When I first open page 2004, the print screen opens immediately. I have to close it before I can see page 2004. Then I click the button with the URL call and the printer friendly page opens with the print screen on top. This part is good. That works beautifully.
    How do I stop the print screen from opening when I first open page 2004? I figure there is some setting I am missing or perhaps a piece of code somewhere.
    Thanks,
    Maggie

    You could put the winpopup code in the footer of the printerfriendly template.
    #FORM_CLOSE#</body>
    </html>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    window.print();
    </script>
    I then have a navigation bar which has:
    target type: A page in this application
    &APP_PAGE_ID.
    And printer friendly check box checked.
    You can then print the current page from the navigation bar.
    I don't use a button, but essentially you just want your action to be performed when the button is submitted.

  • Mac hardware: How do i print screen on a PC with a Mac Keyboard??

    I have a Apple Mac Pro, but when I'm booted directly into Windows Vista (using Boot Camp) how do I do a Print Screen?
    The Apple Keyboard is missing the "Print Screen", "Scroll Lock", and "Pause/Break" keys that a normal PC Keyboard has.
    I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate x64, and apparently this issue has NEVER been addressed or fixed by Apple, because I've seen posts dating back over 4 1/2 years on this same issue/problem, and I've seen fixes for Windows XP, but nothing for Vista. I found this article addressing the issue:
    http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7592_102-0.html?forumID=25&threadID=12105&messageID= 137974
    I did find this software application, but it only works on Windows XP (not Vista):
    http://www.dieselstation.com/software/
    Is there any Easy way to Map and allow the use of Apple keyboards in Windows Vista?
    AppleKeys allows the use of Apple keyboards on a Windows machine. It properly emulates the F13 - F15 keys to "print screen, scroll lock, and pause/break" accordingly.
    Why hasn't Apple just added a "Keyboard Emulator" in the Boot Camp client that gets installed Vista? I'm currently running Boot Camp client version 2.1, why doesn't Apple just add a keyboard emulator/keyboard mapper inside the Boot Camp version 2.1 client?
    This way the F13-F15 keys will automatically emulate the "print screen, scroll lock, and pause/break" keys properly like on a PC keyboard.
    I've searched everything, and this has turned into such a time consume and HEADACHE of a project, and I'm really disappointed that Apple has "dropped the ball" on something so simple.
    If a third party person, had to create the "Apple Keys" program (to run under Windows XP) you'd think that this is a problem, and that Apple would finally address this problem?
    Could someone from Apple, please take the time and fix this? At least copy, or make something similar to the "Apple Keys" program that automatically install inside the Boot Camp client, so when a person installs Windows Vista, and the Boot Camp client installs inside Windows Vista it will automatically run a keyboard emulator (similar to Apple Keys) so that you can properly use the F13-F15 keys on the Apple Keyboard as "Print Screen", "Scroll Lock" and "Pause/Break".
    Could Apple do this, and push out a Boot Camp Version 2.2 update with this feature added to Boot Camp? I would greatly appreciate it, as would most of the other Windows Vista users I'm sure.
    Apple Keys does not work for Windows Vista, only Windows XP and I've been unable to find an alternative Fix, and I wish that Apple developers would just get off their tail and finally FIX this problem!
    C'mon guys, you've known about this 4 1/2+ years, and why does it take some third-party person to create an application like "Apple Keys" just to fix the issue?
    Well the author of that program is no longer available, the website is gone, and I've been unable to find a way to contact him (or ask him to update his program for Windows Vista), but all these headaches shouldn't be necessary. All this stuff should just "WORK" right out of the box, and Apple developers really should have thought of this, and just added something this simple to Boot Camp plugin/client, that way when the Boot Camp 2.1 installs inside of Windows Vista, it will install the Apple Keyboard Emulator which will automatically emulate the PC keyboard, and emulate the F13-F15 keys as "Print Screen, Scroll Lock, Pause/Break". The normal PC keyboard doesn't even have a "F13-F15 keys" and only goes up to F12, so you would think that Apple could just do something SIMPLE like emulate the keys on the PC Keyboard, and just use the F13-F15 keys as the "Print Screen, Scroll Lock, and Pause/Break" keys.
    I would greatly appreciate it if a Apple Developer could begin working on this, and just push it out as a Boot Camp Version 2.2 update. So that it will fix these problems for all Apple/Windows Boot Camp users running Vista.
    Thank-you!

    AppleKeys allows the use of Apple keyboards on a Windows machine. It properly emulates the F13 - F15 keys to "print screen, scroll lock, and pause/break" accordingly. Unfortunately AppleKeys only works on Windows XP and earlier, and it has been discontinued by the author.
    Why hasn't something as simple as this been addressed or FIXED by Apple?
    Why hasn't Apple just added a simple "Keyboard Emulator" (identical to AppleKeys) inside the Boot Camp client that automatically gets installed on Vista or Windows XP? I'm currently running Boot Camp client version 2.1 in Vista Ultimate x64, why doesn't Apple just add a keyboard emulator/keyboard mapper inside the Boot Camp version 2.1 client? So that the Apple Keyboard properly emulates the F13 - F15 keys to "print screen, scroll lock, and pause/break" automatically when the Boot Camp client is installed in Vista?
    Are the Apple Developers "sleeping on the job"? Surely something SO SIMPLE wouldn't be hard to add or fix. VMWare Tools guys seem to do a great job, I would think that Apple would begin working on a fix for this, and finally address the issue and fix this. Give us a client application that we can install that will work on Windows XP and Windows Vista that will allow our Apple Keyboards to map/emulate a Windows PC Keyboard inside Windows XP or Windows Vista automatically. This could easily be done when Vista installs Boot Camp client (automatically) inside of Vista, Apple could then install a PC Keyboard emulator to support the Apple Keyboard that would map/emulate the F13-F15 keys on a Apple keyboard to the standard "Print Screen, Scroll Lock, and Pause/Break" keys on a PC Keyboard.
    C'mon Apple, please just fix this problem and make life a little easier on your users. I just bought a Mac Pro, and I'm a new Apple Mac user and I'm just really disappointed that something so simple still hasn't been addressed or FIXED by Apple. It should be automatic, and I shouldn't have to hunt and search the internet trying to find a solution, just to fix something so simple.
    Apple Developers really dropped the ball here, and I would like to see them create an Apple Keyboard Client that will automatically be installed in Windows XP or Windows Vista that will properly map/emulate the PC Keyboard, so that the F13-F15 keys can be properly used as "Print Screen, Scroll Lock, Pause/Break".
    Thank-you, and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fix this issue!

  • Windows 8/8.1: Printer Offline Problems

    Windows 8/8.1: Printer Offline Problems
    Are you getting an error that your network or wireless printer is offline when you try to print?
    When you print to your network printer, does it fail, and when you check the printer status it says Offline?
    Do you have problems printing to your wireless printer after your PC has been asleep?
    If you answered YES to any of the above questions, then you have a problem with your network printer being offline.  After some investigation into this problem, we recommend updating windows.  Run Windows update to check that your version of Windows 8 is up to date.
    There are a few windows updates that may help with this problem
    1)    Install this Microsoft patch to make sure this private-public-private network issue does not reoccur. It is part of the April 2014 Windows Update package for Windows 8.1 and Server2012 R2 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355).
    2)      Install this Microsoft patch for the WSD service.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3000461
    If this does not help, then please follow the steps list below which will give you a Workaround that may help with this problem.
    Assign the printer a static IP address
    An IP address is an Internet network address that the computer can use to communicate with the printer. Enter a static IP address to make sure that the wireless connection remains stable. Follow these steps to assign the printer a static IP address.
    Get the printer IP address.
    Press the Wireless button on the printer control panel to view the network settings.
    Access the Network menu on the printer control panel.
    Print a Network Configuration Page or Wireless Test Report page.
    Once you have the printer's IP address, open a new web browser window or tab.
    Type the IP address in your web browser's address bar, and then press Enter.
    Make sure that you type the IP address into the browser's address box. If you type it into a tool bar search box, the EWS will not open.
    If the message 'There is a problem with this website's security certificate' appears in the web browser when you try to open the embedded web server (EWS), or when you navigate within the EWS, click ' Continue to this website (not recommended)'.
     note:
    Choosing 'Continue to this website (not recommended)' will not harm your computer while you navigate within the EWS for your printer. If you encounter this error outside of your printer's EWS, your computer could be at risk.
    If the browser fails to open the EWS after you click 'Continue to this website (not recommended)', refresh the browser window.
    The Embedded Web Server (EWS) for the printer opens and confirms that the printer is on the same network as the computer.
    In the EWS, click the Network tab.
    In the Wireless section, click the Network Address (IP) or IPv6 configuration, depending on your network setup.
    Click Manual IP, and then click Suggest a Manual IP Address. A manual IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway displays.
    After the manual IP address populates, click Manual DNS Server.
     note:
    Keep a record of the manual IP address for reference.
    On the Network Configuration Page you printed earlier, locate the DNS Server addresses, type the DNS addresses in the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields, and then click Apply.
    If the DNS addresses are not listed on the Network Configuration Page, or if you have trouble accessing the network or Internet with the original DNS addresses, use one of the following methods to obtain DNS addresses.
    Method one: Use publicly available DNS server addresses
    Configure the printer using publicly available DNS server addresses. To find available DNS server addresses, search online for 'public DNS servers'.
    After you find public DNS server addresses, type the addresses in the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields, and then click Apply.
    Method two: Get the network DNS information via your computer
    Select your operating system, and then use the following directions to obtain the DNS server addresses.
    Right-click the Start button () or the lower left corner of the screen, click Run, type cmd, and then press Enter.
    When the command window opens, type ipconfig /all, and then press Enter. Information about the computer's network displays.
    Scroll to and locate the DNS Server addresses.
    In the EWS, type the DNS addresses in the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields, and then click Apply.
    Print a test page to make sure that the printer's IP address is the same as you assigned.
    Right-click the Start button () or the lower left corner of the screen, click Search, type HP and click your printer in the results. Click Utilities, and then click Update IP address to update the address in the software.
    Adding a Wireless Network Printer using Control Panel
    Go to Control Panel and choose Devices and Printers
    Click on Add Printer
    The PC will search the local network and display the network printers.
    Choose the printer and select Next
    The system will then try and auto select a compatible driver
    Select the current driver and Click Next
    The system will then ask for a name for the printer. The user can change the name and then click Next
    The User can then choose to share the printer
    The user can select to make this new printer the default and then click Finish.
    The new printer is now setup but this printer may be using the In OS driver (Class) rather than the HP Full Function driver.
    To change the printer to use the HP Full Function driver follow the following instructions. I would recommend changing the driver to the HP Full Function driver as the User can then use features such as Custom paper sizes.
    Go back into Control Panel and choose devices and Printers, right click on the newly created printer and choose Printer Properties
    Choose the Advanced Tab
    Click on the driver section drop down and choose the Driver for the printer that does not have the words Class driver after it.
    Click apply and then OK and the driver will be changed to the HP Full Function driver for the printer.
    The user should try this configuration and see if they still experience problems.
    Please Note:
    DO NOT Remove the Original Printer Icon from Devices and Printers as the HP Printer Assistant will stop working.

    I work for HP

    I have the printer offline problem. It started when I ran out of toner. I have now installed a new toner cartridge.
    Your solution does not help me because I have tried to install Win8.1 and it failed.
    I would just reinstall my printer but I have a long list of items in my print queque and I don't want to lose them.
    Is there another solution?
    Or is there a way I can save the print queue?

  • Print Screen Function Doesn't Work

    I just purchased a new 15.4" Pavilion laptop (DV5-1235dx) and cannot get the Print Screen function to work.  I've tried everything.  One source tells me to hit ALT and PRTSC at the same time.  Another HP help suggestion says to hit the FN and PRTSC keys.  I get no copy/paste function whatsoever.  I also tried the shift key and PRTSC and it was no dice on that either.  On my laptop...the PRTSC and INSERT key share the same key.
    A routine function like this should not be this difficult.
    Anybody out there got a suggestion or two about what to try. HP Support has been, frankly, awful.

    Below find two possible answers to your issue on Print Screen.  I hope one or both of these help.
    1. Print Screen
    2. Snip
    Print Screen:
    Which keys one uses to get a screen print does depend on the OS (eg. Vista or Windows 7) and the keyboard hardware.
    Example:  HDX 18T requires a simple keystroke (PrtScn)  for the Active Window and Alt - PrtScn for the Entire Window.
    In the Help file for same is noted the following.  See Below.
    It is somewhat rude that it's not the same for everyone - it is not unknown to be the case.
    Open your help files and look up "print screen" - ask if you need assistance to get to "Help".
    Below find a link to the manuals that I believe are for your laptop / Notebook.  Your answser may be there if you cannot find it on your system's own help files.
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManual&lang=en...
    Help file from an HDX 18T:
    Snip:
    Windows 7 has a "snip" command that one can use to grab any bit of the screen and make it into a .png file.  It's quick, easy, and fast.  Additionally, simple annotations can be added with a "pen" of different colors (circles, and such) to mark the picture as desired.  Brilliant!.  Vista may have this command as well.
    Print the .png file if you need it on paper, embed it in Word, email, whatever...
    Help file on Snip (shown as a "snip png file):
    Good Luck!

  • Deskjet 3520e all in one printer network problems

    Hi All.
    I have a brain teaser for the technical types out there hoping someone can shed some light on a weird sort of problem.
    History: All has been fine with my g6 Pavillion latop 64bit W8 and 3520e all in one printer and working as always very well.
    Oct 16th 2014 My broadband service went down and after many communictions with ISP eventualy received (Nov 4th) and installed a new "super hub modem".
    OK so far, Managed to connect laptop via wireless router and connect to internet etc., however . . . I cannot get my printer to network as before, I can use it via USB port but if I try to network it, The Cyan ink cartridge reports as being broken or damaged even though 3/4 full and will not allow printing, but when connect via USB port the Cyan ink cartridge registers normal and will print as expected.
    Has anyone else come across this problem?
    If I go down the route of uninstalling and reinstallin the Printer software is there a set order in which to do so?
    In the list of programs these four are shown. .

    I would like very much to get back to network printing if at all possible.
    The router IP address is 192.168.1.3
    The printer IP address is 192.168.0.1
    I have been led to believe that as the addresses are so close this shouldnt be the cause.
    I must add that in the past I have had occasional printer software problems which I was unable to resolve without help from the technical centre and I would prefer not to restart the installation if at all possible.
    Your comments would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi @Un1corn
    What exactly happens when you try to convert from USB to Wireless and configure the printer to the Virgin Media Super Hub? Do you get an error message of some sort?
    Maybe there is a firewall on the Super Hub. Do you have the model number for this device? I can look up some information to see what could be casing the issue.
    In the meantime, running the Print and Scan Doctor might help. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues including but not limited to:
    Connectivity:
    USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.
    Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.
    Device Status Test: Checks for device errors such as out of paper, paper jams, carriage stalls, and paper feed issues, and then provides instructions for fixing the error.
    Driver Check: Checks for missing or corrupt driver files.
    Device Manager: Checks for problems in Device Manager that would prevent printing.
    Device Online: Checks if the product has been paused or set to offline, and then sets the status back to online if necessary.
    Print Queue: Checks for and clears pending print jobs in the print queue (a log of print jobs waiting to print).
    Port Match: Checks the port settings for the HP product.
    Device Conflicts: Checks for conflicts with other drivers, such as other printer brands.
    Ink Issues: Checks the cartridges and ink levels for issues that affect print quality.
    Print Settings: Checks and adjusts the print quality settings.
    Test Print: Prints a test page for print quality evaluation, and provides options for cleaning and aligning the printhead if necessary.
    Scan Tests: Checks the scan mechanism, drivers, and registry entries.

    If that does not resolve the issue, post back and let me know if there are any symbols other than green check marks and what they are next to of course. The wrench is not always easy to spot as the wrench and the check mart are in the green circle.
    If you see only green check marks (), the tool did not find any problems.
    If you see green wrenches (), the utility identified an issue and corrected it automatically.
    If you see yellow exclamation points (), the test failed and required user action, but the step was skipped.
    If you see a red X (), follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue.
    I look forward to hearing back from you.
