Print Selection Option - Gone!

I use Firefox and an HP printer.
When I print, there was - up until 2 days ago! a button I could check where I could print selection only... the button is now gone!
In fact, the entire format of the window that pops up when I print has changed! What happened there - so weird!
Any ideas?

this same thing is happening to me. if i open firefox and go to print a page for the first time, the 'Firefox' option in the pull down (Layout, Copies & Pages... etc) is available where i can select 'print selection' as well as other options. However, if I want to do the same thing again during the same browser session the 'Firefox' option disappears and thus i cannot print a selection only. a restart of firefox brings the option back. my guess is this is a firefox related issue but since i came across it mentioned in this forum i thought i would post my findings here.

  • Running Windows 7 Home Premium, Firefox 7.0.1, File/Print won't work (doesn't open print dialog box) nor does control+ p nor will right click context menu ever highlight Print selection option after selecting part of a page, ie no printing whatsoever.

Previous versions of Firefox all printed. All other browsers, programs - Word, Outlook, IE 9, Live Mail, Excel, Adobe files/documents, etc. print. Have more Add-ons than list of plugins below. Can email jpg. screenshots of all printer settings in about:config. Can't paste them here or below.

  • Print Selection and Print Queue?

    Hey guys,
I have a couple questions. From time to time, I want do print selection because I do not like copy it and pasting it into textedit or something. Is there a way I could do this without leaving safari? Also, when I print I usually have to close the print queue manually once the document is done. In tiger, the queue used to automatically close once the document was done transmitting to the printer. Is there a way I could have the queue to automatically once something is done printing?

The 1.1 Update does not work with Leopard...all that happens is the text area goes Gray, and then nothing. It is supposed to work...
It is ridiculous that Apple refuses to implement a simple "Print Selection" option in the Print Box. As usual, Apple has the most advanced stuff, except for the basics. Leopard is awesome, but come on now.

  • Print Selection in Leopard.........

    Hi all,
Apart from just loving my Imac, I just can't understand why Apple does not have a print selection option in it's print box. I know that there are 'other' options, but I guess in this day and age, a simple print selection option in the printer dialog would be sensible.
Does any body know what the logic is behind Apple not having one. Dare I say it even Windows has had it I imagine since Windows 1995!
Just can't get my head around what the issue is with including it, it surely can't be that hard to do?
Anyway, apart from loving the new Leopard system (apart from a few niggles), would appreciate your thoughts.

You can be that someone. Send a bug report (or enhancement request) to Apple via its Bug Reporter system. Join the Apple Developer Connection (ADC)—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report/enhancement request. You'll get a get a Bug ID number; thus, starting a dialog directly with engineering.
Alternatively, send Feedback, but that usually goes through support and marketing—might not get to engineering.

  • Why am I not able to use "selection" as a print range option when using the print preview feature? Is this facility available or am I doing something wrong?

Having seleted some text on a web page which is the only information I would like to print, I seem to be unable to preview what the printed page will look like using the "Selection" option in the Print Range section of the "Print" Menu from the Print Preview window. The radio button for "Selection" is not selectable!
I am able to do this using Internet Explorer, which is probably my main reason for using that browser but would like to use a similar feature in Firefox

That connection is supported for tethering....

  • Printing web page with select tags in IE9 and a .cfm file-only the original selected option prints

My web page has a select tag and cfselect tags and when I print the page with a different option other than the originally selected option the print for both types of select tags reverts back to the original selection and ignores the new selection.  This happens in IE9 and .cfm files but not when the page is printed in IE8 or IE7 modes (tried in the F12 Developer Tools.)  It also needs to be a .cfm file.  FireFox printed the pages correctly for any combination.
This was done on a Dell and ThinkCentre computers under Windows 7.  Also, I was able to reproduce the same problem on an different university web site where a selection box would revert back to the original selection for printing on a .cfm page and would print properly on a .PHP page at the same site.
For my site, I used a print button which calls print() and right clicked and chose print and got the same results no matter which method was used.  I only had the right click method on the third party web site.
I know this is probably a bit narrow an issue but, any help would be appreciated.

It appears that it is probably an IE9 bug.
I simplified the problem by turning the page source taken from the brouser of the original .cfm into an html file and found that it would still print improperly.
When I eliminated the various parts of the file I found that it would print correctly only when I removed the first line, the "DOC type" line.
The page will print the newly selected option but then I lose the style sheet.
If it does not work in an HTML file it must be IE.  It is not the .cfm.  The reason that it did not work for .cfm files, is that they always have a "DOC type" statement.
I have put the issue into an MSDN forum in addition to the one mentioned previously.

  • How do i get print to pdf option in MS programs under printer select screen?

Hello there how do i install the print to PDF option in printer select box within MS programs

Are you a subscriber to Adobe PDF Pack?

  • How can I print from my MacBook Pro to Canon MP560 using rear tray?  I can't find that "option" in the print selection possibilities.

How can I print from my MacBook Pro to Canon MP560 using rear tray?  I can't find that "option" in the print selection possibilities.

    Sure can.
With a document open in Pages, select to print so that you can see the print dialog as shown below.
Note that to see this view, you may need to press the Show Details button in the bottom left corner. In the image above, since I have the expanded view displayed, this button changes to Hide Details
So with the view shown, first change the Presets menu to Default Settings. Then click the Layout drop menu and select Quality & Media. Make the changes you want and then click on the Presets menu and select Save Current Settings as Preset...
At the next window, give the Preset a name and select the Only this Printer radio button and then click OK to save it. That's it.
As for the Preset that you already have, if you no longer want this preset then you can delete it via the Show Presets menu pane that you've used already.

  • Put adobe as an option in the printer selection box

how do you place adobe as an option in the printer selection box - when i do online remittances from my bank the remittance sheet only shows a print icon - if you hit it i only have the printer, fax and xps document writer as a selection i am using win7 it used to be in the window of the printer selction when i was using winxp can you solve this for me

Yes I have acrobat the thing is on the XP there was a selection as save as an PDF File and that was in the Printer Box where u can select the printer you want to use.  But there is no option for this - the reason is again on the bank that I use when you fill out and send your remittance up comes a statement of what you sent date, beneficiary exchange rate etc. you have the option to print this sheet there is no save option on this so when I used hit the printer icon there comes the printer information and on this there was a choice of the printer or save to adobe.  That is missing now and I don't know how to get it back you can only do snip it and save that to the file.
    Can you advise on that?

  • Printing Options - additional option - "Print Selected"

I would like to see an option in the print window for "Print Selected" as in Windows.
The only choice we have, AFAIK, is to print a single page or the whole enchilada.
If I wish to print a small selection from a large page I have to copy and paste it into a text file and then print that.
It would be handy to simply be able to select an area with the mouse to be printed and print it directly from the print function.

  • ARGH-HUH! Print v Print Selected Pages

    Good god almighty.
Is there a way to get Preview to Default (I know I said Preview) to print all the pages when I go Print and then I end up pulling down to "pdf" to print a pdf?!
For the umpteenth time I have scanned a 50 page document, gone to print a pdf of this scan, and accidentally hit "Print" (go figure) instead of selecting all the pages (!?) and hitting Print - and then of course pulling down the pdf and going to Save As pdf.
Print defaults to the selected page ?! and Print Selected Pages works if you select all the Pages?
I have to scan the whole darn document again...
What am I missing? Also, apologies for posting in Pages but I can't find any place else to address this.
    Thanks!

As we will have to wait for at least a few days, here is my workaround.
