Print server and WRT120N

Im trying to configure my PSUS4 print server to my new WRT120N but it cannot detect  my print server.  Is this possible?
Please help.

Yes. It's possible if the print server IP address is the same with the router. By default, the router's LAN IP is 192.168.1.1, same with the print server.
All you have to do is to change the print server's IP address. You need the software that came with the printer server. You have to unplug the print server from the router and connect it to your computer for that matter. You may also have to unplug the computer from the router.
Open your browser. Type 192.168.1.1. You should be able to access your print server setup page. Check the manual for details. Download the user guide here.

  • 2101nw print server (and LaserJet M1132 MFP) – installation problems on Windows 7 (64bit)

For two years, I've been a happy user of an HP printer (LaserJet M1132 MFP), wirelessly connected to my home network thanks to a HP Wireless G Print Server HP 2101nw.
A week ago, a new machine came in and – to align operating systems - I had to install Windows 7 (64 bits) also on my laptop (previously we were running Windows XP).
Then, I went on with the reinstallation of HP software, for the print server and the printer.
    And it was a disaster.
After the failure of the first installation ("Installazione non riuscita"), I went through a series of attempts of uninstalling and reinstalling, again and again, by various methods. Uselessly. Even Revo Uninstaller did not help.
Then, looking for information over the web, I read there was a known problem of incompatibility of the print server’s driver with 64-bit environment, and that HP was not going to rewrite it .
    You can imagine my disappointment.
Now, hopefully, I write in this forum to ask for help. My request is twofold:
    1) I would like to properIy clean up my laptop and remove all that bad installed sw (both of the print server and the printer), so that at least I can successfully reinstall printer software for using it via USB cable.
For this purpose, can you please give me your suggestions ?
    2) I would like to know: It is true that there is no driver available for use this print server on Windows 7 (64 bit) ?

  • Linksys Wireless Print server and my Mac G4

I just set up my linksys wireless print server and it's printing from my PC just fine - not so on my G4. My printer is a Canon Pixma ip5200, and the appropriate drivers etc are installed.
I know the IP address and have tried setting up the printer via IPP (and pinged it from the mac successfully). Just no success printing. The printer utility looks like it is printing to the printer but nothing comes out.
    Any ideas?

You won't be able to get this to work.
The Canon printer drivers won't allow you to connect to and print to a Canon printer attached to a wireless print server.
There is no solution, there is no way that this can work
    You have three solutions.
Replace the Canon printer with another printer for which the drivers will work.
Replace the Canon printer with a networked Canon printer such as the iP4000r (or any other network printer) in which case you won't need the print server
Connect the Canon printer directly via USB to the computer to print.

  • Jetlan Print Server and HP Deskjet

Hi, I'm a mac newbie (XP convert..haha). I have a Cables To Go Jetlan 3200 print server and an HP Deskjet 5550 printer. I have tried a bunch of different things to try and get my macbook to print but to no avail. It prints from a Win XP desktop no problem.
I can see the printer when I use the "add printer" utility and according to my Jetlan documentation, it uses appletalk. I have successfully added the printer. When choosing the printer, my HP isn't listed in the various printer types. I have tried using HPIJS and gimp-print beta 2.0 but neither seems to work. Print jobs seem to spool and go to the printer but all I get is numerous pages printing out with various characters. Have to stop the printer manually in order to abort the process.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. So far, this is the only negative expeirience I've had with the mac. It rocks in every other way!!!
    Bert

I don't have an intel mac, so I may not be able to help - hope someone else has tried this...
(This may have something to do with running Printer Setup via Rosetta, or something like that.)
I think the "Deskjet 900 Series Gimp-Print" driver should also work - is that the one you tried?
Have you tried an IP printing protocol? I would try HP Jetdirect protocol first, because that one doesn't require you to search for a queue name.
I think appletalk should work, but try an IP protocol for troubleshooting.
The symptom of printing postscript gobbledygook is definitely a driver issue, so make sure when you select model (using hpijs) that it is the model "deskjet 5550 foomatic/hpijs."
    Good luck.

  • Wireless Printing with Netgear Print Server and HP Officejet 6110

Setting up my wife's iMac for wireless printing (Mac is in Kitchen, printer in home office).
We have a Netgear router and her internet connection (wireless) is fine.
I configured the WGPS606 via a Vista laptop and have effectively printed through to the server wirelessly from the laptop.
I downloaded and installed the drivers for the HP printer to the mac and have successfully printed when connected via USB (brought the printer to the kitchen to test)
In adding the IP printer, I am able to set up an IP printer fine, but the HP driver does not appear in the dropdown menu.
I have been able to get the iMac to ping the Print Server and choosing another HP driver does spool, but with gibberish of course.
I believe the problem is that I can't figure out how to get the new driver to appear in the dropdown in the printer settings, which should solve the problem, I think.
    Advice?
    Thank you.

Unfortunately, there are two kinds of driver on OS X (not like Windows), Carbon and CUPS. To use the CUPS standard network protocols like IP printing, you have to use CUPS drivers. HP doesn't provide CUPS drivers (yet). Install the hpijs 3-part set:

  • What's the difference between HP Wireless G Print Server and HP Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit?

    Hello!!
What’s the difference between HP Wireless G Print Server and HP Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit?
I found two things as follows.
    1. MAC support
    2. USB dongle
    Is there anything else?

    Now I’m clear!!
But there are descriptions for each on your home page over view tab. Due to this forum restriction; I cannot put the URL here.
They say for each as follows.
HP Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit --- Retain full all-in-one wireless functionality: print, fax from your PC, scan, and access photo memory cards access and PC status
HP Wireless G Print Server --- Get the same functionality with your all-in-one: printing, scanning, photo memory card access, PC faxing, and printer statusSo I got confusion, that’s why I did not get the difference for them.
And I found wrong description on your HP support document page. I recommend that you correct it, because it put consumer into confusion and break to buy this product.
The title is “HP Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit - Setting up the HP Printer with the HP Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit in Windows .”
The wrong description is “NOTE:  You must turn on the computer with the computer adapter in order to print to the wireless product” at last line of “Step two: Configure other computers to use the printer. “
    You can erase this line!!

  • Creating Queue, Print Serve, and Printer

We are using Novell Netware 4.x.
We have a HPLJ5 SI printer with a CNET Print Server attached via the LP
cable port then attached to the network.
When creating the print queue, print server, and printer via the Netware
Administrator it appears that nothing is seen on the locally attached
    print server.
I have reviewed the config on the Print Server, all appears correct, but
when I add the queue, server, and printer, the system does not see the
    prin server?
I have been recently introduced to Novell, so please bear with me if the
info to answer is not all here.
    TIA,
    Bill

    We are using IPX/netware.
The print server is configured with:
    1. The print server name
    2. The Netware server name
    3. NDS Tree and Context
I have also created the Queue, Print Server, and Printer in the
organization. The print queue does have the print server and printer in
    the assignmenets area.
I guess I am a little confused. If the print server is attached to the
printer what is the relationship between the print server and the queue?
And what makes this different between that and a print server and queue on
    the server itself?
I guess you can tell I am a little (or maybe even a lot) lost!
    TIA,
    Bill

  • Notebook using Vista and wireless print server and HP5500 printer problem

Installed std vista local driver for hp5550 printer with usb cable direct to printer.  Works ok
Then, disconnected usb copper line to HP labtop and connected it into print server in router (D-link router to HP5500 printer).
Installed wireless network driver in labtop (vista os)(no updated hp driver available for Vista on HP site).
Print jobs just stack up in the que.
Used 192.168.0.1 address (which works fine for my other old win 98 computer).
Driver using the "raw" setting not "LPT"
    Print Sharing is enabled.
    Any suggestions?
p.s.  The wirless system works fine on an old windows 98SE computer using the original 5550 installation disk.

Went back and installed the "Windows 2000 Print Server Software (from D-link Router 824vpn).  I assume that this included the USP Shareport program that was recommend in a thread.  I can now access router wirelessly.  However, wireless print jobs go into que for hp5550, que emptys, but printer does not start up.  Copper usb from printer to computer works fine (as separate printer)sta.  Using HPdeskjet 5550 (HPA ) printer, port 192.168.0.1, printer name/ip 192.168.0.1, protocal 9100, raw setting, port 9100, LPR and SNMP are both blank. Any suggestions (OS is Vista).  No drivers from Dlink or HP for this application.  Thanks

  • Wireless Print Server and Macintosh

    Hello:
I am using a Linksys Wireless Print Server WPS54GU2. I have a HP LaserJet 1012 printer hooked up to it. i have a iMac and a Dell Windows PC. From the dell Windows PC, the wireless printing is working fine to the laserjet, however i just bought my mac and i am trying to setup the printing but it is not working.
When i connect the printer directly to the mac through USB, it prints fine. However when I connect to through the print server wirelessly, i can see the printer through Applettalk and it does a test print (but it prints garbage). The problem that i see is that the drivers for HP LaserJet 1012 are not listed under the HP Model. So not sure what i need to do.
Also, how do i print to a printer which is shared by a Windows machine?
    Has anyone got any direction?
    Thanks

HP wrote the OS X driver so that it ONLY works with USB. To get network printing, install the hpijs and ESP ghostscript driver "set:"
    http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/
Add the printer via LPD or IPP (look through server manual), and be sure to enter the server's queue name, L1 or P1.
Follow this guide to print via Windows:

  • HP Q6236A Wireless Print Server and HP Officejet 5610

Has anyone really successfully installed the HP Print Server successfully?  I have tried everything I can think of to get it to work and cannot.  I have Vista on my desktop where the officejet is installed and I have XP on my laptop.  I have a wireless network installed using a D-Link router that has been working for several years.  I downloaded the latest drivers for the Officejet and ensured that they were installed on both PCs.  I followed the onscreen instructions for installing the Print Server adapter and the PC adapter on both PCs (actually uninstalled and reinstalled several times.
I got the PC adapter and the printer adapter to work one time on the desktop and then could not connect again.  I downloaded the updated file for the USB disconnect problem with Vista and still no luck.
Does this HP Printer Adapter really work?  I have 3 friends that also would like to have this feature and all have HP computers and HP printers but we can't get support from HP.  What a shame!  Any suggestions??
    Thank you in advance.

I’ve installed it successfully and worked fine so far. I share a printer with other computers.
My wireless access point is Linksys router and configured with WPA2 PSK AES. And the printer is C4280.
The installations were tough and easier. It depends on the client computer situation.
    Did you try followings?
Step1. Configure the wireless setting for Q6236.
    1. Uninstall all of existed the printer driver and the related software, for make sure.
You can do it that the printer installer run again. Then it should show uninstall option instead of the installation and chose it.
    2. Install Q6236 driver with the PC adapter.
    3. Do the advanced setup and setup wireless connection. Please refer the manual.
    4. Confirm network connection to the Q6236 by the utility.
The utility icon where it is right bottom corner of the desktop gets green mark when the connection is successful.
Step2. Install the printer device driver.
    1. Remove the PC adapter from the computer. It is not needed any more. It is only for wireless configuration for Q6236 once. After that, you can store it in the attic.
    2. Disconnect the Q6236 network connection by the utility. This is important.
    3. Install the printer driver by the installer.
In middle of the installation, the installer should request you the USB connection to the printer. Then connect the Q6236 network connection. Do not connect it before the request.
For another PC to share the printer with the Q6236.
Both of the PC and the printer should be online. And do not put the PC adapter on the PC.
    1. Uninstall all of existed the printer driver and the related software
    2. Install Q6236 driver.
In the middle of the installation, Q6236 installer should find the printer itself and chose it.
The PC and the Q6236 should be on same IP sub network.
    3. Confirm the network connection to the Q6236 by the utility.
    4. Do above Step2-2.
If you do not get successful, please tell me which step was problem.

  • Printing on an established network with a linksys print server and an HP

I am really tired of this. After 4 months of searching through discussions, I still cannot get my new Mac Pro to print to my HP printer on a linksys print server. Nothing I've tried through the discussions works. Every other PC in the network can do so. I would call someone or open a chat, but I can't find either of those on the Apple sites either. Someone please help before I give up on Apples!

  • Server 2012 Print Server and DNS CNAME - setspn advice

    Hi,
I am building a new Server 2012 Print server. What I would like to do is utilise a DNS CNAME when I deploy the printer, rather than its host name.
I have used 'setspn' to accomplish this, running the following command:
    setspn -A HOST/<ALIAS> <hostname>
Now when I browse the alias I can see the installed printer. The problem I have is when I then deploy this via Group Policy it uses the servers host name instead, but it does work. If I manually edit
the GPO to reflect the alias name instead it does not deploy the printer. Moreover the indication on the 2012 server has gone so it does not see that it has any printers deployed.
When I browse the computers host name and try to manually install the printer it will state that it is downloading the drivers but never seems to complete. If I browse it's alias and try the same
thing I receive an error stating that it couldn't connect to the printer. The client machine in this instance is Windows 7 SP1 x64.
What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Howard

I've been struggling with the same problem, for a Windows 2012 R2 print server.
I've added SPN entries and registry tweaks (OptionalHostnames, DisableStrictNameChecking, DnsOnWire etc.), but still couldn't connect printers using the alias, even though I could browse shares on the server, using the alias.
While not explicitly covering 2012 R2, this KB article helped me:
    KB2546625.
Adding the alias to the local hosts file solved it for me.
Now, I wanted to be sure that I wasn't applying a bunch of unnecessary tweaks, so I went ahead and removed all registry tweaks (including DnsOnWire mentioned in the KB article), the SPN entry for the alias and rebooted - it still works!
In my case, maybe on Windows Server 2012 R2 in general, all that was needed was to add the alias in the local hosts file.

  • OAM : Access management of Print Server and Shares

    Hi Experts !
Our customer is providing our user printing and storage facilities in their windows accounts besides many web based applications. We are planning to evaluate OAM for this environment as an access management solution.
Web based application's access management is totally understood as explained in OAM documentation
Can someone enlighten if we can control access of network printers and shares (SAN / NAS) using OAM? Can access Gate be utilized for this ?
    Really appreciate your response.
    Regards

    Install the 3 part hpijs:
    http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/hpijs
Then use the protocol that the print server manual recommends, remembering that LPD and IPP use queue name, but HP Jetdirect (raw port 9100) doesn't. If there's a section in the manual for unix/linux, that's usually more productive than the Windows instructions.

  • Print Server and Missing Driver

Hi. I run latest version of Tiger on a mini. I just bought a buffalo print server after hearing about how easy it is to set up. My Win machines are fine, but on the Mac, I can find the IP address, but when I go to pick the printer (a Cannon iP4000), the driver isn't listed. With some of the other Canon drivers, I can print to the printer - so clearly the pserver is found and works, but the layout and sizing is all wrong. I am mystified: Where exactly is the IP4000 driver residing on my hard drive? What is the file name? If I could even manually navigate to it, I'm pretty sure the thing would work, but I absolutely have been unable to figure out where the file is, or what it is named. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Printing with the built-in network protocols (Windows Printing, IP printing) requires a CUPS print driver. Canon doesn't provide CUPS drivers - their drivers are written to only use USB.
I think the newest version of Gimp-Print (included in OS X) and now called Gutenprint includes a driver for your Canon iP4000. Get the newest version "Gutenprint 5.0" here:
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1537
The only other CUPS driver for your Canon is from www.printfab.net.

  • Airport Print Serving and Linux

I have a small ethernet wired network with three macs and one PC running Ubuntu linux. The printer for the network is hanging off an Airport-Express in my network closet. All the macs print fine but I need to be able to print from the linux box as well. As such, I need to know what protocol that apple uses to support the print server function. Or, I need some advice on setting it up with an SMB protocol. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    Sorry for delaying in reply.
Linux clients see page count. I've paused printing and checked some documents. Property page from a linux client document shows as this:
Documents sent from windows clients show same but they've document name and page count.
