Print Server does not show local USB printers (OS Server 10.3.9)

I have mac OS X 10.3 server sharing my local USB printer for over more than 18 months, suddently on Jan 6th 2007, my server refused to see them in
the Print Services in the Admin tool.
The last log I got from starting it is on jan 5th:

I can see this error in the watchdog log:
2007-02-08 18:27:28 PST Reaped child process 287 ("/usr/sbin/PrintServiceMonitor"); quit with exit status 36.
2007-02-08 18:27:28 PST Process "/usr/sbin/PrintServiceMonitor" respawning too rapidly!
2007-02-08 20:35:27 PST Terminating due to signal.
I can still print locally to the machine (obvisouly no other computers on my network can !).
The Print Service tab, let me add 3 types of queue: LPR, appletalk and OpenDirectory but NOT USB !!!
On Jan 8th I have installed FCP and that's the extend of my modification....

I have tracked the problem a little deeper, and it's caused by the PrintServiceMonitor.
If you run in a Terminal:
:/private/etc/cups root# PrintServiceMonitor -x
PrintServiceMonitor: Initialization error (-9948)
_Assert: ASXPrintServerLib.cpp, 452
ktrace seems to point to a CUPS config error but I can't find what's wrong with it.

HP C6380 photosmart all in one wireless does not show in mac printers

I have a new MacBook Pro and an "old" HP C6380 photosmart printer/scanner. It is connected to my wireless network but does not show on Mac to choose to add as a printer. What can I do? I do not want to buy a new printer!

Never mind. It just won't work wirelessly. I connected to router with cable & it works OK.

Print dialog does not show DINA4 anymore?

after upgrading to Lion, i can't print DINA4 (e.g. PDFs through Preview) anymore,
the only option in the dialog is US-Letter...
do I have to add a special language pack? is the printing driver (SAMSUNG CLP-315)
not ready for Lion yet?

When the print dialog opens (e.g. in preview) it chooses the default printer and only gives US-Letter as option.
When I then choose the other printer from the pulldown menu, I can choose from lots of different
paper formats...switching now back to the default printer I can choose A4...
This is reproducable: whenever I open up a new printing dialog with the CUPS network printer as default printer
I only have US-Letter in the menu...

I have the same setup and since my update to Lion I experience the problem you describe. The print dialog only offers "US letter" in the "Paper Size" drop down.
I also use the same work around as you to set the paper size to A4. I select a local printer to get a long list of different paper sizes to choose from. When I switch back to a printer connected to a CUPS printer server, the list is kept. This allows me to select A4. However, it also allows me to select paper sizes not provided by the currently selected printer.
This is no satisfying solution

Print Dialogue does not show print quality options on MacBook

I am trying to print wirelessly from my Macbook Pro to a HP 5500 connected to G5. I can print no problems, but I can't control the print quality as this option does not appear in the print dialogue box.
When I print the same page from my G4 powerbook I get print quality options in the dialogue. Both laptops are running 10.4.8 and connecting wirelessly by an airport network. The printer is plugged in the G5 not an airport express.

As Scapesuiter has mentioned, it would be best to check the HP web site to see if there is a Universal driver for your printer. These are drivers that have been written to work on the new Intel Mac's and on the previous Power PC (PPC) Mac's.
If there isn't a Universal driver, you can still use the older PPC driver, however you will experience problems like you are getting when printing from a Universal application via a PPC driver. Usually you see a line through the option that is not available, but I guess another symptom could be that the option is not viewable. Anyway, for some Universal applications, you can choose to open them using the Rosetta emulator. With the application closed, select its icon in the Finder and do a Get Info (Cmd - I). In the window that appears there may be the option "Open using Rosetta". If there is, select this option, close the window and open the application. Now try to print and see if the option is present.

Firefox does not show any installed printers

I am running firefox 11.0 on Debian testing (Linux version 3.1.0-1-amd64 (Debian 3.1.8-2) ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.6.2 (Debian 4.6.2-11)), and all the 32bit libraries. I have cups 1.5.2 installed and a networked printer (hp L7680) using hplip. I can print from other browsers (chrome, opera, epiphany) and libreoffice. When I try to print from firefox, there are no printers in the printer dialog, not even print to file. How do I enable printing in firefox?

As a follow up, I went through the process of resetting all printer functions in firefox (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firefox%20prints%20incorrectly?s=no+printers+found&r=3&e=es&as=s), and restarted firefox. There was not change - still no printers in the printer dialog.

HI, when i now hook up my A510 camera to the computer, the scan to printer page does not show

My A510 camera does not come up on my computer so I can save and print.

I assume you're using Windows? Is it XP, 7? 8?
Here's previous advice given by Richard, a Canon product export, that might apply:
This sounds like the driver for your camera is corrupted. You should be able to resolve this by removing, then reinstalling the driver.
With your camera connected and turned on in the playback mode:
1- Right-Click on "Computer" (in the menu) and choose "Properties".
2- In the upper left-hand corner, click on the "Device Manager" link.
3- Once in Device Manager, find the "Portable Devices" group and click on the "+" sign in front of it.
4- If you see your PowerShot camera listed, right-click on it and choose "Uninstall" and allow the "uninstall" to proceed.
5- Now turn the camera off. Wait a few seconds and then turn your camera on.

The Search field "print.print_printer" does not show in about:config. I cannot reset

When I print from a selection from the web, half of the 1st line is missing. I have 2 printers: HP Officejet 5510 & HP Photosmart 7520. When I print from 5510, the page will also show the "address" at the top & the date/time & page number at the bottom. None of this happened until today.
I have Windows 8
When I print with the 7520, the address & the bottom part are barely printed.
I reset the top margin to 1" from .5 that I had done yesterday when I doing some print jobs, but it did not change the parts that got cut off.
I found a printer problem page on your site & the subject I listed is not available so I can attempt to reset Firefox.

UCCX Web Chat Transcript does not show local language

Hi Everyone,
I have installed UCCX10.5 with CUCM10.5 and SocialMiner10.5. The web chat function works fine.
But when customer try to download the chat transcript it shows only English language, any conversations that typed in local language doesn't show (Blank).
I already installed language pack for SocialMiner but it still doesn't works.
Anyone please advise.

Palm Pre does not show same USB options since update

Since the latest update to the OS, my Pre no longer comes up with the options to use as a USB drive or to be able to see as a drive from my computer using an USB cable. This worked fine for many months. When I attach my phone to the USB cable, it now says unrecognized device.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

I had the same problem. I found somewhere else on this forum the suggestion to right-click on Palm Desktop and choose 'Run as Administrator'. That made my Calendar and Contacts appear perfectly.

Nobody can. You did not provide any details. It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.
Please describe in detail all you have attempted to do in order to resolve the issue.

HP Full Software and Driver does not show on "Printers & Drivers" list.

I am staying at a friend's house which has an HP 7360. I downloaded the HP Full Software and Driver an attempted to make a wireless connection and it does not show on the printers and drivers list. What do I do to make it appear as a printing option?

Brother DCP8080DN scanner does not show up in Image Capture's list of devic

Hi, I've been printing successfully to a Brother DCP-8080DN for a while now. I have the latest CUPS driver and recently installed the latest Twain driver from Brother. I can scan from the Brother Control Center utility but the printer scanner does not show up in Image Capture nor does it appear in the Print&Fax Print Queue (it's supposed to show up on the right side). Any idea how to get 10.6.6 to recognize the scanner? Rebooting didn't help.

I found the legacy twain_32.8ba however when I try to find the "into" location, and I typed it very carefully..there is no path to this location.
I can't understand why Adobe would do this to me. Do they expect me to go out and buy another scanner? I've written to Microtek. All previous versions of Elements I've had import from this scanner and I've installed the latest scanner software. It's horrible that I have to throw away the money I spent on this so-called upgrade and go back to a previous version. Who thinks up this stuff?
I hope other potential purchasers of 9 understand what they're getting into. I would also like to get rid of the bothersome "ID interface" at the beginning..I would like to get to Photoshop edit is quickly as possible but Adobe is putting me through some sort of merchandising of their "free" web space. Airport extreme usb printer does not show on macbook

I have been trying to set-up a printer on a Airport Extreme through the USB cable. However, the printer does not show under "Printers and Scanners" and the help on-line has not helped at all.

Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. In addition, the AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers.
To see if your printer is compatible, take a look at this iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility link. If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.

Finally, check out this IBM support article to see if your printer is listed as having a Postscript or PCL3 interface. If it does, then it will most likely work with the AirPort's USB port. Printers that use the "HP LIDIL" interface must be connected to a computer directly and will not work.

RH7 - Custom WebHelp Pro skin custom "Print" button does NOT display in version published to RH Server 8

I customized a WebHelp Pro skin using the Omega skin as the basis. Everything works fine except the Print button, which I added using the same Action as shown in the BeautifulVista skin's Print button.
Local Version (C: drive)
When I generate my help project and view it locally from my C: drive after I accept the warning about viewing locally, I see the Print button.
However, it does NOT work. I've attached a graphic that shows the local version and the skin dialog where I set up the action for the Print button.
RH Server 8 version
When I view the same project after I publish it to the server, the Print button does NOT display.
QUESTIONS ARE:
How do I get the Print button to function properly (active printer dialog)?
If it can't work until it is published that fine but then how do I get it display when I view from server?
