Print Services not stopping

Gurus,
I tried to stop the HFR - Print Services, by going to services and stop, and it shows the status "stopping" but it does not stop at all. I have refreshed it however, it does not me do anything.
Is there any suggestions regarding it.
Thanks

Hello,
Your service seems to have hanged. In these unexpected cases, you may wish to try the method to force kill service in the below link:

  • MY PRINTER WILL NOT STOP PRINTING

    I have a brand new HP 309a wireless printer.  I am using it with a USB PORT.   I downloaded something from a PDF file and the printer will not stop printing.  I rebooted the computer, I disconnected the printer for an hour and when I turned it on it resumed   I hit the cancel button, the display reads "print cancelled" and then it reads "now printing."  When I attempt to use the printer to print something else it reads "busy."  HELP.

    Hi,
    Disconnect the  USB cable and follow the below steps  to restart  the spooler service.
    Click Start (Windows logo) >> All Programs >> Accessories >>
    Right click on  Command Prompt and open it as Administrator ( choose run as administrator)
    Enter the below command in black window and hit enter key..
    net stop spooler
    That will stop the spooler service.
    Then enter the below command and hit enter key to start the spooler service
    net start spooler
    That will delete the current print comment and the  things in print queue.
    Press the widnows key and R key on the key board to open run window ( Click on Start >> Run).
    In run window  enter services.msc and click Ok.
    That will open services window.
    From there double click on the print spooler service.That will open a new window.
    Click on Stop button to stop and then click on start button to restart the spooler service.
    Make sure that startup type is : Automatic and Service status is : Started
    Click on Apply and Ok to close the services window.

  • IPhoto printing service not available in Australia?

    Has anyone heard any news as to why the iPhoto printing service is not available in Australia? It's very disappointing as this was a great selling point to me, I just presumed that it may take time to set up, but still nothing...
    I can still print calenders, cards & prints off my home printer of course, but it's not the same as professional printing. It seems a shame as the software costs the same for everyone, but we have features that we can't use.
    Does anyone know why this is?
    Cheers!
    emac 1.42GHz PPP G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    No comment on why Apple has not made this service available themselves in Australia, but there are a number of other options. For the ultimate in convenience and excellent quality, you can use digitaldavinci.com.au. They have an iPhoto plugin which will let you send books, cards and calendars to them. So this is pretty much the same as the Apple service anyway, although I think - but haven't checked myself - that the price is a bit higher.
    Alternatively, I have had very good results sending a PDF of a book to myreflections.com.au. This is obviously not quite as convenient, but the quality is still very good and the price even better.
    So there are definitely printing options available from iPhoto, especially for books, not so much for prints, and at least one option I know of for calendars and cards. I haven't used the calendar or card service though, just the book printing service from both DDV and MyReflections.
    Hope this helps.

  • Bonjour Printer Services not working on Windows 7 anymore

    I have my HP Deskjet F4450 connected via USB on my IMAC running 10.6.8.
    I have it shared with everybody can print settings and can add it to both my Windows 7 laptops using Bonjour Printer Services 2.0.2 (it sees it and I can add it)
    But when I print from Windows 7 it says that the test page is spooling but nothing happens, Nothing prints.
    I have looked at a bunch of help files, but nothing has worked for me.
    Did some Windows 7 Updates break the Bonjour printer Services application?
    Thanks for any help.
    Update:  It worked about a month ago I know from each Windows laptop.
    It prints fine from my MacBook.

    I'm having the same issue, but with a Time Capsule.  My MBA can print fine to it, but my Windows 7 desktop cannot.  It sees the printer, and things queue up but never come out.  Worked fine about a month ago but stopped.

  • Solaris 10 - print services not running

    Hi
    One of our servers has just been upgraded from Solaris 9 to 10 but we are having problems getting the lp scheduler to start. We have tried starting the service manually by issuing *'svcadm -v enable application/print/server'* which returns '*svc:/application/print/server:default enabled.*' However when you issue the command '*lpstat -r*' it returns '*scheduler is not running*'. The next step I tried was typing '*svcs -a | grep print*' which returned the following:
    online               16:34:09 svc:/application/print/ppd-cache-update:default
    online               16:35:39 svc:/application/cde-printinfo:default
    offline               16:34:45 svc:/application/print/rfc1179:default
    offline               16:34:45 svc:/application/print/ipp-listener:default
    maintenance    16:34:45 svc:/application/print/server:default
    I then issued the command '*svcs -v -x*' which returned the following:
    svc:/application/print/server:default (LP print server)
    * State: maintenance since Wed Dec 17 16:34:45 2008*
    Reason: Restarting too quickly.
    * See: http://sun.com/msg/SMF-8000-L5*
    * See: man -M /usr/share/man -s 1M lpsched*
    * See: /var/svc/log/application-print-server:default.log*
    Impact: 2 dependent services are not running:
    * svc:/application/print/rfc1179:default*
    * svc:/application/print/ipp-listener:default*
    I tried enabling the 2 dependent services manually and it says they are enabled after you issue the command but in actual fact it is not doing anything. Our set up is complicated by the fact that we are not using Soalris as our print m,anager but are using Hewlett Packard's.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Bruce

    This could be caused by print requests that were waiting in the print queue when the upgrade took place. You need to remove these requests as follows:
    # svcadm disable print/server
    # rm -fr /var/spool/lp/fifos /var/spool/lp/temp /var/spool/lp/tmp /var/spool/lp/requests
    # svcadm enable print/server
    # svcs -xv
    The print scheduler should now be running and you should now be able to print.

  • The printer does not stop printing

    I have set up my printer (HP Color LaserJet CP1215) to my airport extreme; I have succeed to print to my printer. But the printer keep printing the same pages, and it prints continuously. Anybody know why this can be happened?

    Hello hhartono. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    I assume that you have this printer connected to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) ... correct? If so, does the AirPort Utility recognize it as the exact printer model?
    Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. In addition, the AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers.
    To see if your printer is compatible, take a look at this iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility link.
    If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.
    Also you can try this Apple Tech Support article to see if it will help:
    o Printer troubleshooting for AirPort Base Stations and Time Capsule
    Finally, check out this IBM support article to see if the printer you are interested in is listed as having a Postscript or PCL3 interface. If it does, then it will most likely work with the AirPort's USB port. Printers that use the "HP LIDIL" interface must be connected to a computer directly and will not work.

  • My printer will not stop coming up OUT OF Paper. Even when i reset it, It comes up with OUT OF PAPER

    I Need Help with this. When I start up my Printer it Comes on and tell me I am OUT OF PAPER Reload Paper and pass OK.
    But It keeps on doing this.

    Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system? There are documents online for many models showing how to clean the rollers and take other steps to address false (or real) out of paper indications.

  • Print Services not logging pages printed

    When setting up a print queue, we seem to have two options:
    1 - Press the plus button, enter the printer's IP address and give the new queue a name.
    2 - Add the printer to the print server, then share it using the queue that appears in Server Admin/Print.
    If we add printers using method 1, we have to use the "Generic Postscript Printer" ppd but page logging works correctly. If we add printers using method 2, the user can use all the printer's features but pages aren't logged.
    Anyone know of a way to set the printer's ppd correctly while still having the printed pages logged?

    I forgot to mention, the printers show up in the client's default browser as "queue_name @ printserver" no matter how we add the queue to the server. Printing itself works perfectly, so far as the pages all come out the way we expect them too.

    Unfortunately there is no paper inside.

  • Print Services won't quit

    Hi all,
    I have a OS X 10.3.9 Server that I attempted to share a printer on.
    The printer is an Epson connected to a usb port on the server.
    The printer was sharing just fine until I tried to share it to a Windows machine. After I tried to start Windows Services, this operation turned off the network interface I was using to access the net. After I fixed that problem in the Network System Pref. Pane, the printer can't be shared to any of the local network macs that it was working fine on before. Not only that, I can't get the server manager software to stop printing services, either by the Server Manager Program or the command line. The print log returns:
    2006-01-23 13:03:34 -0800 [20962] Stopping Print Service...
    2006-01-23 13:03:34 -0800 [20962] Stopping print sharing. Service: SMB.
    2006-01-23 13:03:34 -0800 [20962] Print Service Shutdown reported errors.
    What the heck does that mean?
    I can add and delete queues. But everytime I add a new queue it comes up with my old settings with "smb" printer sharing enabled and it won't let me change it. Everytime I click the check-box to turn "smb" or any other printer setting off or on, it won't let me!! And I as I stated in the beginning I can't get the print services to stop or restart! I don't want to restart the server quite yet. I am almost afraid that its gonna be even more messed up after the restart. I even tried to edit the config file by dragging it to the small icon in the corner of the settings window to the desktop and editing it in BBEDIT. When I drag the changed file back onto the window it won't take the changes.
    Anyway, I couldn't figure out where these config files for the Server Manager Program are to delete before I restart.
    Any help or suggestions would be greatlty appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Hassan

  • Could not talk to Print Service

    I have tried cancelling print jobs and I received the error "could not talk to print service".
    I've tried stopping and starting lp and these do not work either.
    If anyone has any information, I would appreciate.
    Thank you in advance,

    Make sure the /etc/inetd.conf file (which should be a symbolic link to /etc/inet/inetd.conf) does not have the "printer" line commented out.
    If you're using Solaris 8 or 9, make sure the third field of the "printer" line has tcp6 instead of tcp.

    - it is working fine from Windows XP
    - i was done All terminal setting in both end, also try RDP Login with Administrator User, but issue is not resolve;
    What Microsoft can say about the issue;
    Thanks & Regards,

    Have you checked the Print Service log in event viewer?
    Here's How.
    I have the Microsoft XPS driver on my clients, so I use that fact to my advantage below.
    Click Start Button/Administrative Tools/Remote Desktop Services/Remote Desktop Services Manager on the RDSH server
    Click the Sessions tab.  PC’s are listed Under Client Name by their computer name.  Take Note of the corresponding
    ID.  We will use this to locate the Printer information in the Event Log.
    In the Event Log open Application and Services Logs/Microsoft/Windows/Print Service/Admin/ and Find the Event ID 823 entry that has the corresponding ID from the sessions tab you previously noted.
    This Event Log Entry is created at Logon and you can only get the session ID when they are logged in.
    This tells you what client printer was mapped for the client.  The name that appears is the name of the Printer that was set on the client when the printer was installed.
    See if you see any errors here.
    If you see Event Id 823 with the following message “The default printer was changed to Microsoft XPS Document Writer,winspool,Ne00:. See the event user data for context information.”  Twice in a row with no other messages in between, and the first occurs
    at the time the user logged in, then their printer was not properly redirected.
    You see the Microsoft XPS driver mapped for each session prior to Easy Print redirecting the client machine’s Default Printer.
    Since your printer is the HP 1020 I would bet the driver on the client does not work with Easyprint.  I would try the  the HP Universal Print Driver or the driver for a printer that is very close, like the HP 1018.
    Thanks,

  • Windows Services not working, nmbd stopping

    Hi all,
    I encounter a strange problem.
    I'm currently trying to install a Mac OS X Server System on a Xserve and XRaid. This to remove a Win2K Server with AD on and Exchange working on it.
    I set my server in OD master, import accounts from the AD, replaced Exchange with Kerio etc ...
    But when i try to use Windows services, smbd always working fine (file sharing is ok), nmbd stopping. So i can't use it as a PDC server because the domain i create disappears with the crash of the nmbd process. In fact nmbd seems to stop after nmblookup requests.
    I've to say that the Win2K server is not stopped.
    I installed lots of OS X Server as Windows PDC and it has always been working fine.
    I also tried to activate Windows Service as "linked to Active Directory" and as "Standalone Server" and it resulted the same issue.
    Does anyone had an idea ? I thought that it could be a problem with the Win2K requests and crashing my nmbd with nmblookup.

    I'll try these things tomorrow to see what happens :
    - Change the "os level" setting to something high in /etc/smb.conf . (because of the Win2K Server).I'll set this to 255.
    1. Make sure that DNS is running on your server. Make sure that the server has a dns entry for itself.
    2. Ideally "Workgroup Master Browser" and "Domain Master Browser" should both be enabled. An aside, this did not interfere with my seperate AD domain on the same network.
