Print size different in LR compare to CS3

I have a Canon ip5000 which I use in Lightroom and CS3. When I go under Page Setup then Print Size, we doesn't get the same choices. Under LR, I get few choices ( 5 only) like 5x7, 4x6, letter, etc. In CS3, I get a lot more (10 or 12 choices), in particular the custom choice. Does anybody had ever notice that behavior ? Why is it different ?

I reinstalled all Canon software but the drivers are included in Vista. And there is no update. I checked DPP, LR and CS3. All three have different choices for print size. I'm confuse.

  • Print Size different than what is on screen

I use Elements 9 and print to an Epson 7900, when I have an image 12 1/2" x 18" the actual print size is coming out 12 1/4" x18 any suggestions, It's getting really frustrating......

Make sure the print resolution is the same as the image resolution. You can check in the Elements Editor: File à Print
In the print dialog check actual size.

  • File sizes different on iPhone compared to iTunes

    Hi everyone,
After re-syncing my phone the file sizes compared to what was showing on the colored bar at the bottom of iPhone tab in iTunes is much different than the actual sizes of the files synced onto my phone. Basically I added all of the file sizes of my apps on my phone with a calculator and got 1.05gbs but highlighting the Apps section on the colored bar it shows 3.44gbs(see photo). My music adds up to 3.63gbs but shows 4.73gbs on the colored bar.
Now I can understand adding lyrics, album art & whatnot may change the music file size but I can't see how profiles, scores on games or whatever can add an additional 2.4gbs to my apps. Any idea on what's up with this?

I have found the iTunes "Memory Bar" to be an estimate and also not too sure it is always the same picture-in-time as the iPhone data.  Do you have (forgive the pun) and Apples to Apples comparison of each App you are counting?  I share an Apple ID and iTunes with my granddaughter and as such I don't actually keep all the Apps on my iPhone that show up in iTunes.

  • Can I print to different paper sizes with AirPrint and Safari?

I am the organizer of a trade show coming up.
We are using a web based registration system for attendees.
To print the attendee badges, we simply log in to the site through the net, and print them.  I have an HP CP1525nw loaded with 3x5 index cards that will slide into the badge holders.
When printing from the Mac, I simply go to Page Setup, set the paper size and orientation and print.   It works great.
However, we would love to use iPads for our registration staff.  Not only are they less expensive, but they are portable, and totally wireless.   We can access the site just fine, and the badges show great on the screen.   The website generates the badges as a .pdf file and they load into the browser.
When printing from the iPad, the badges print HUGE, filling an entire 8.5x11 size page.   With the 3x5 card stock loaded in the paper tray, they still print huge, only showing the portion of the badge on the 3x5 card in the location it would be had there been letter size paper in the tray.
    Any ideas?
I've considered formatting another badge for letter size, and having it print only where the 3x5 card would fall... but that is a huge tweak that I think should be unnecessary.
How do I print to different size paper from my iPad?
Thanks for the help in advance.
    --Brian

    Thanks for the info.
It will let me send the PDF to eprint....  and there are paper size choices.
However, they only offer Letter, Legal and A4.
My printer DOES support 3x5 index cards.  But, the option is not listed.
    Any other ideas?

  • Where do I find info on how to print on different size projects?

I'm not sure if I'm posting this on the correct board or not. My question is where do I find instructions on how to print on different size papers such as, envelopes and postcards both addresses and return addresses. I know how to print the body of my postcards since I use Windows Publisher but I'd rather not have to use labels. It would be so much faster and more professional to print the addresses and return addresses directly on the postcards and envelopes. I've owned many HP printers and have always been able to do that but can't seem to set my Deskjet 8500 910A.
    Thanks for any help available.

    linadads,
I am happy to help you with your issue regarding printing on envelops. The printer software doesn't carry the functionality to create envelope documents. You will use a word processor for completing this such as, Microsoft word. In Microsoft Word (or a like word processor) it will give you the option to create an envelope with the send from and send to address sections.
    I hope this helps

  • How to batch print different orientations or print sizes?

How do I batch print several exposures at one time that differ in orientation (Landscape, Portrait) or print size (4X6 - 8 X10) or both orientation and print size?  I currently have Lightroom 2.3 installed on a XP SP3 machine.
I have been unable to find any documentation on this subject.
Any tips, suggestions or errata would be most welcomed!

  • Illustrator files printing in different sizes than was specified..

    Hi there,
I am having a problem with some labels I have been making. I specify that I want the document to be 6.5 cm x 10 cm, and after I have laid them out in a page and printed them, I find that they are too big to fit on the surface I measured for. Does anyone know what is going on?

By how much is the measurement off? What is the printed size of your 6.5 x 10 rectangle?
What sort of printer are you using?
I don't recall having had this problem unless I'd done something daft.

  • How do you determine resolution for a given print size in LR?

CS3 displays image resolution for a given size. How do you determine what that resolution is in LR for a given print size, so you know whether you should upsize or downsize for optimum print resolution range?

The only way I know of is to work it out. LR and PS make assumptions that are often not ideal (although the differences may not be noticable). Different printers like different resolutions per inch. For example, I once had an Olympus Dye Sub printer that produced awful prints unless the file was exactly 314 ppi. Not 300, 314. 300ppi looked awful. 314 looked amazing. Many Canon inkjets prefer 300ppi files and most of the better Epson's prefer 360ppi. Lambda printer like 400ppi files.
So find out what the printer likes, and in LR enter that number into the printer dialog. I believe the LR engine interpolates the file based on this and the image size on paper you choose to produce a file of the best size.
Having said all that with most modern domestic and prosumer inkjets the difference is pretty negligable.

  • Final print completely different to layout in LR 5.3

    Hi,
I use a Macintosh with mountain lion 10.8.5.
Until I started changing what layout I wanted the final print from my epson 7900 was ok. I had it as a customised A2 on A1 layout.
When I changed it to an A2 layout from the dropdown menu the final print was 609mm square and the image itself was near the left hand border in the middle and occupied only 25% of teh total area of teh paper. I tried different print sizes but they all came out the same.
I tried what an other forumite did and updated the firmware for the printer but thus made no difference.
When I opened an LR4.4 application that I still had I was able to print it on the custom setting for 609x 420mm without a problem.
    Ant suggestions?
    Many thanks,
    Hardy

There are two factors that can contribute to the coordinates being displaced or not being applied. I'm assuming here that you are using gps4cam to generate a tracklog and applying the tracklog to the images.
    1. The camera time must be in exact sync with the phone time, including time zones. If you forgot to adjust for daylight savings time, or if the clock on the EOS-M got reset, that could be one source of this issue.
    2. When using GPS witha smart phone, sometimes wifi hotspots are used for "greater accuracy" but occasionally a hotspot may be associated with an incorrect location.
Based on your details above, and the fact that we just changed clocks last month, I'm betting on #1.
For what it's worth, I use my EOS-M with an Eye-Fi SD card and that will allow me to record GPS data directly into XMP data without the use of a separate tracker app. It does wear down the battery faster, though.

  • Question about "Print Size"

I am confused and puzzled about "Print Size." First I select the Zoom Tool, then I click "Print Size" in the upper bar. I also have chosen View > Rulers.
What I don't understand is that one inch in the horizontal ruler actually is considerably longer than one inch on the vertical ruler.  I think this is distorting the appearance on my photos in the monitor as compared with the actual prints. The monitor version of my portrait, for example, looks fatter than the printed version. Why is this and why isn't a horizontal inch equal to a verical inch for viewing purposes.
Thank you very much for any help on this.
    Bob

Thank you very much. I changed my monitor to its native resolution and I think this solved the problem.  Bob

  • Printing size problem in Lightroom 5

I need help. When I print from Lightroom 5 with the settings noted in these screen shots I do not get the proper size print. You can see that I'm using 17" X 22" paper and the print should be 14.003" X 21.042" which is a 1.5 aspect ratio. From the first screen shot you can see that Lightroom 5 does diplay exactly what I intended. What actually is printed is a version that is 12.55" X 18.25" with a aspect ratio of aproximately 1.45. I've wasted two sheets of 17" X 22" paper and the associated ink and I cannot fathom why this is happening.
Also, it is printing off center even though the preview in Lightroom 5 is centered.
    Any ideas?
    Craig Ryan

I don't have any experience with this Epson printer but I observed a few things in your screen shots.
    a) this might have nothing to do with the print size, and yet  ... the screen shot of your image shows a size of 14.003" X 21.042" @ 197 ppi.
Apart that this number is a bit low for a quality print, I wonder if this is one of the reasons why the print size is different than in Lr. You have set the printer to print <SuperPhoto - 2880 dpi>. That means your printer has to create 2880 dpi from 197 dpi. I have heard the pros always recommending to print with a resolution that is an integer of the largest printer res. So for 2880 dpi you could print at (2880/4 =) 720 dpi, or at (2880/8=) 360 dpi. So what does your printer do if you send it an image at 197 ppi/dpi? Maybe it's not very good at math ...
Try this: Export the file in Lr (as a JPG or as a TIFF) in a size of exactly 14.003" X 21.042" at 240 ppi (or better at 360 ppi); re-import in Lr (by checking >Add to this catalog> in the Export Dialog) and print it.
    b) In your printer settings you show "Border: None". This is probably the reason why your print is off-center. If you tell your printer to print without a border it prints from the left side with minimum border. Specify a border that remains when you subtract paper size from print size, or - if you have that feature in the printer dialog  - center the print.
    c) You show a paper size of 17x22". It seems to me that this is not an original Epson paper; at least I can't see a paper of that size in the Epson manual.
In my printer (and it's not an Epson) I have to add "odd" paper sizes in order to be able to use them (it's sort of like installing the "odd' paper size). I don't know if it's necessary to add "odd" paper sizes in an Epson or if it accepts the "odd" paper size just by entering it as you did.

  • Custom Printing Size for 5520

    Hello,
I have a HP 5520 and a Mac computer with a OS X 10.6 operating system. I'm trying to create a custom paper size to print a 5.25 x 5.25 in card. This isn't a typical paper size and am having trouble figuring out how to create a custom paper size. I know that I can do it because I've done it in the past but unfortunately do not remember how I figured it out. Any help and step by step instructions would be very much appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hi @tbot0712,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are trying to create a custom printing size on Mac OS X 10.6 for your HP Photosmart 5520. I am happy to look into this for you!
According to this guide, Create Custom Paper Sizes in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Mac OS X. Follow these steps to create and use a custom paper size in Mac OS X.
Step one: Create the new custom paper size
Load the custom-sized paper into the paper input tray.
In the software you are printing from, click File, and then click Page Setup.
From the drop-down list, select the name of your printer if it is not already selected.
Click Manage Custom Sizes in the Paper Size drop-down menu.
Click New, and then type a name for the custom paper size in the Paper Size Name box.
    note:
Do not use an existing paper size name for your new custom paper size name. For example, if a custom paper size is named A4, then the existing A4 paper size is no longer be available as a choice. Use a different, unique name for the custom size paper.
In the Width and Height boxes, type the dimensions and set the margins, if desired.
Click Done or OK, and then click Save.
Step two: Select the new custom paper size
Click File, and then click Page Setup.
Select the new custom paper size, and then click OK.
Click File, and then click Print.
    Select the Paper Handling panel.
Under Destination Paper Size, click Scale to fit paper size tab, and then select the custom paper size.
Change any other print settings, and then click OK or Print.
Hope this is the information you were looking for, and have a great day!

  • Printing Size Problem

Something strange is happening with my print command and my Mac.  So far I notice it happening regularly on Delta.com and Apple.com!  When I attempt to print say, my boarding passes on Delta.com or the comparison of the new iPad vs. the iPad2 on Apple.com, the PDF preview shows me page 1 looking perfect, but pages 2 through x are enlarged to the point that only what would be the lower left-hand quadrant of the page is shown in the sidebar and in the preview pane when I click on any of the thumbnails in the sidebar.  And if I print the document, that's exactly what I get.  But...if I print the documents from my laptop PC using the very same printer the job was sent to using my Mac, everything previews and prints perfectly.  Can anyone address this issue and suggest how I might resolve it?  Thanks for help, in advance.  PS: I'm using OS X v10.7.3 and everything is up to date.  Thanks.

  • Scanning Slides for Printing by 3rd Party: Maximum Print Size Wanted

I am wanting to license a series of vintage slides via my Zazzle.com store. The images scanned from the slides would be printed on the various products that they sell. Ideally I am looking to obtain the maximum resulting image size in the hopes of offering some of the designs on smaller sized posters. Some of the images were taken with everyday cameras while others were taken with expensive cameras such as a Zeiss Contarex so am guessing the film grain quality is going to vary although all are mounted in standard slide frames.
I wanting to scan slides, or have slides scanned, into a lossless format such as tiff for archiving purposes, which would then be copied and opened inside photoshop and illustrator. I also have negatives from box cameras and similar older materials, but want to tackle the slides first.
From reading the posts here the two main strategies appear to be:
    1. Do it yourself:
I've read various posts that say this may take a specialized scanner costing $2,000, while others claim a Epson V500 does just as good of job - of course I wondering if the person using the Epson is wanting to print commercial products from the designs.
What machines are recommended for use with Lion?
Also there appears to be a debate about the best software, such as Digital Ice or VueScan? Any suggestions?
    2. Hire a 3rd party service:
One main concern here is the items could get lost.
The other major concern is how good are the resulting slides going to be. I've looked at various 3rd party sites that offer scanning and each appears to offer a differing opinion as to what dpi should be used. I understand that at a certain point a higher dpi setting is not going to obtain any further helpful information from the slide, but what exactly is the maximum setting that I should be shooting for? I see services offering 4,000 dpi, yet some of the dedicated slide scanners can go much higher so I am wondering if these services are just wanting to use the lower dpi to save on the resulting image size as opposed to obtaining the maximum print size?

Kappy, How do you do it with iPhoto?
CMCSK, For some reason, against my expectations, iWorks or Pages was nowhere to be found. I "spotlighted" them after failing to find them in the applications folder. I did not think to look for Microsoft Word Trial Version on the Mac. I doubted it would be there because Apple has Pages and Numbers. I'll check later, but I guess I also want to know how to do it without trial software.
Kenichi Watanabe, Scaling only allows me to change the size, but not the position of the image. Halfway there!
RothRock, After clicking the arrow, I get many options, including scaling, but I can't find any positioning option (other than just the Centre option).
Does anybody know how to scale and position? I'm going to try iPhoto some more. Something as simple as positioning for printing shouldn't be this hard to find.

I am trying to migrate custom print sizes setup from one user profile to different employee, and there are quite a bit. In the future, where are these custom print settings stored and what is the best way to copy them between profiles?

Hi GroveEnt, and a warm welcome to the forums!
    They are located here...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.print.custompapers.plist
I'd copy it, change the Permissions to the new user, move the copy to the new users prefs folder & remove the copy from the end of it.
