Print to fax in Tiger - Multifunction printers

Does anyone know where I can find a list of multifunction printers that work 100% on a Mac? And I mean that I can print, scan, and fax using Macs...
Anyone?

Hi, Richard.
Apple once had a list of specific devices, but it has been replaced by this page as most All-In-One devices are Mac OS X compatible.
One would presume that those sold via the Apple Online Store (link to such on the previously-cited page) would be compatible. That may help you choose.
I recommend taking a slightly different approach: find a set of printers you like and that meet your requirements, then check with the manufacturers re: Mac OS X compatibility.
If you then get your choices narrowed down to a couple of devices, post back here asking for feedback from users of those devices w.r.t. print, scan, and fax functions.
Good luck!

  • Can't edit printer list, can't set up printers - Powermac G5, OSX 10.3.9

    Hi,
I recently installed a new hard drive to our Powermac G5 and reinstalled OSX 10.3.9. While we had no problems printing previously I can't even install a printer now.
When I tried to print for the first time it automatically detected the Konica Minolta Bizhub printer we have, however it used a generic post script driver.
As soon as I saw that, I tried to install the printer properly, by doing this:
Click system preferences > click print and fax > click set up printers. Clicking set up printers has no effect. Neither does selecting 'Edit printer list' from the drop down menu of printers below.
The generic postcript driver will not work for us because there are certain functions that need to be enabled using the manufacturs driver for it to print properly. Consequently when I try and print it doesn't work.
    What I've tried so far:
    1)Restarting the machine. No effect.
2)Following some advice on the Apple website I have deleted the Library/printers folder, and reinstalled the driver from the Konica website then restarted the machine. No effect.

A PowerMac G5 running the ancient Panther?
    Surely not?

  • Print to multifunction printers from ebs

    Dear all,
we run ebs 11.5.10.2 on Windows and we would like to install multifunction printers. We would like ebs users to logon to multifunction printers in order to print reports from ebs. The question is that since printing is be done via one database user, multifunction printers wouldn't know which is the user, therefore users couldn't receive their printouts. Do you have any ideas on how to solve this?
    Kind regards,
    George

    Hi,
Normally Outlook rules only print via the default printer, selecting the printers is beyond the control of Outlook build-in rules.
If you have a rule written via a script, I suggest you post the question and the script to MSDN forum, in which you can get script specific support:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/home?category=officedev
The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Cannot print-to-fax on HP Photosmart C7280 with latest drivers

This machine used to have Tiger then got leopard installed. I installed the new HP drivers yesterday and reset the print system, then added the printer which prints just fine. Haven't tried scanning yet. My problem right now however, is Faxing. I have never been able to fax from any computer on two models of HP printers.
I added the Fax printer by going to System Preferences->Print and Fax->More Printers, then selecting HP AiO Fax. It started showing as a (Fax) printer. I then went to the print options during a print and was able to add my recipient with the phone number. But after clicking "Send Fax", it got stuck in the print queue. Restarting it only flashes "Printing" for a bit then stops.
All I want is to send a couple of faxes with the Fax printer I bought.. You'd think single recipient print-to-fax would be a typical QA use case.
Anyway, I enabled debug logging on the cups daemon to reveal the following on /var/log/cups/error_log. I suspect that "unrecognized selector sent to instance" message. By the way, PrintJobMgr leaks like a sieve.

"HP Send Fax" from the device manager doesn't work either.

    Hi
    Can you try this.
Download this HP SW driver from HP.com
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4142&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4083...
This is a mountain lion installer, currently there's no support for Mavericks. Just downlaod this.
After you ahve downloaded, install the sw.
When you reach the page below, try to check everything.
Whne you reach this page, select the "Bonjour Multifunction" and in Use: select the the HP Officejet ******. Dont select AirPrint. You should see the HP Fax during this page. If dontsee the Fax, just wait for a while maybe 2mins. Update me if you dont. And continue the installation.
After the installation, click "System Preferences" in the dock. Select Printers & Scanners, on this page you should see the Printers and Faxes of your printer.
Please try it out and update me the outcome.

  • What printer and fax modem for leopard

Since updating to leopard I`m having a lot of trouble with my Canon MP 780. I have tried new drivers and everything else I can think of including reading these forms for a solution ever since leopard was released. It seems to me that apple forgot all about faxing and printing when they developed leopard. So my question is, is there a multifunction printer that works well with leopard. Seems nothing can save my MP 780. Also I need a fax modem but it seems they are far and few between that play nice with leopard. A few suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It seems as though leopard is apple`s Vista when it comes to printing and faxing. Sorry I`m just really tired of this.

I'm using a HP Officejet 7780 which works great, the bad news is it was recently replaced by the OfficeJet 8500 series AIO. HP make 3 versions:
    1. Base model with ethernet & USB connections
    2. OJPro 8500 Wi-Fi with touch screen, wi-fi (in additition to ethernet and USB connections) & duplexing
    3. OJPro 8500 Premier with touch screen, wi-fi, duplexing, touch screen, dual paper trays and 2 complete sets of ink, legal size scanning etc.
The new OJ 8500 series also uses ink that is designed to be water resistant and offer a lower cost of printing than a similarly priced laser printers.

  • How can I set Firefox to print to PDF, the only otions I have are (1) My Canon printer, (2) Fax or (3) Microsoft XPS document writer. There is no option for PDF

A couple of weeks ago, from the file menu, in my print options was to print a web page to PDF, that facility is no longer there. does anyone know how can I set Firefox to print to PDF.
The only options I have are (1) My Canon printer, (2) Fax or (3) Microsoft XPS document writer. There is no option for PDF

Firefox generally displays the printers in Windows' Printers folder (Start orb > Devices and Printers). If it is missing one of the printers listed there, could you indicate which one it is, for example, Adobe Distiller, PrimoPDF, CutePDF Writer, etc.?
If you previously had an add-on which added print-to-PDF functionality just to Firefox, perhaps it got disabled. You could check here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions
Also, are you really running Firefox 8.0.1? That version from last November is no longer secure and has been superseded by Firefox 11. If you browse the web widely, you should update for your security.

  • I'd like to buy an all-one print, scan, fax wireless laser printer for my Mac.  Any suggestions?

Any suggestions for a laser all-one, wireless, print, scan, fax printer for my Mac Air?
    Suggestions gratefully accepted.

Yes printers (their drivers mostly) can become obsolete. Laser printers are so inexpensive I would lean that direction (often new ink cost more than a new printer). That being said when you combine functions you make sacrifices. A laser printer/fax would be, in my opinion, the way to go. If you need a scanner I would make it separate.
I have had good luck with HP - the school district I worked for also used (standardized) to HP. At times Epson has worked well with Mac's - and then there are other times. I think as long as you stay with a top tier brand (look at what Apple is bundling with their new sales) you'll be all right.
Of course you budget, the number of times you expect to scan, fax and print should drive the decision.
I have a ~$100 Brother Laser Printer networked through my Mac Pro (it prints wirelessly) and has done so for going on 10 years. I have an HP Photosmart 6800 about the same age. As you can tell I'm not a fan of AIO's.

  • Multifunction Printers - Please reply with your opinons

My wife and I are looking to buy a Brother MFC-820CW.
Does anyone have one of these? If so, what's your opinion of it? Can it in fact print to fax, and receive a fax straight to a computer with out printing it and then scanning it? Also, can the scanner be used with Photoshop (Twain acquire)?
If anyone has one, we would really appreciate your feedback.
On another note, does anyone have a multifunction printer, fax, scanner that is network capable and all the functions work on a Mac?
    Thank you!!!!

On another note, does anyone have a multifunction
printer, fax, scanner that is network capable and all

    Richard,
I have a Brother MFC-7820N that prints black and white laser as I did not need color inkjet printing. It does scan color and has a Twain plug-in for PhotoShop that works. It has direct PC fax send/receive capabilities, but I have not used that as my clients and I tend to e-mail PDF documents. The MFC is connected via ethernet to my wireless router. I found that Brother keeps up with Mac OS updates. I am very happy with this unit.
The unit you are considering has all the features you are inquiring about. My only suggestion is to find out how efficient it uses ink, i.e., are there separate cartidges for each of the four colors, or one cartidge for cyan, magenta and yellow with a separate one for black.
    Hope this helps. Good luck!

    Hi Daniel1963,
The fax driver has to be installed in printers and scanners window in able to fax from the computer.
    Click on the Apple.
Click system preferences, click the printers and scanner icon, then click the + sign, then select the
printer name with fax beside it if it is available from the list, then click on the add button.
(if the Apple Update doesn't add the fax driver then you won't be able to send the fax from the computer since there isn't a Full Feature driver for Mavericks)
    Try sending a fax.
Go to file, print and select the fax and fill out fax number, then send the fax.
    Thank You.

I would appreciate help in creating a Default Paper Size of 6" X 9" because this size is not listed among the options for Tiger's Print and Fax in System Preferences. I mainly use my imac and Epson Photo R200 printer to print 6" X 9" formatted pages on 8 1/2" by 11" sheets created in MS Word. But without an Apple default for a 6" X 9" custom size, I run into all kinds of formatting problems, including the making of PDFs. My friend has a Windows machine that does have the 6" X 9" among its options, and she has no problem producing the results I am after. Thanks for helping!

You should be able to create a custom page size with these dimensions in the Page Setup Dialog (under Paper Size). After creating it, use the "Save As Default" under the Settings menu.
    Hope that helps.

  • Printing a fax history previous to 30 faxes ago

Is it possible to obtain a fax history that is no longer "in" the fax history.  I need to confirm a fax was sent, but it no longer shows on the screen when the fax history is pulled up.  I understand there is a memory of only 30 faxes?   I I also need to print it.  Any hope of this?

Hello LoriJean and welcome to the HP forums!
I understand you have some questions about the fax log on your printer, and I'd be happy to answer said questions
Would you be able to tell me which model HP printer it is that you have?
To my knowledge, most of the HP printers have a way to print the fax log, so that I believe I can assist you with, but for printing the 30 faxes prior to the 30 you see, that isn't possible. The memory can only hold so many, and 30 is that number for your fax.
Once I know which printer you have I will get back to you on how to print the log!

  • Major Printing Problem - Can't Print in any App, with Any Printers

I help my Aunt with her three Macs (2 eMacs, 1 MacBook, all running 10.4.8 right now) at her office, and she had me come to help recently because one of the eMacs stopped printing anything; here's what happens:
In every app besides Word (e.g. Safari, TextEdit, AppleWorks, etc.): If I click File>Print... or press 'Command-P,' the cursor turns into the spinning rainbow for a few seconds, and nothing happens (meaning I can do anything I want in the application, as if nothing at all happened).
In Word: If I click File>Print... or press 'Command-P,' Word sits for a minute with the spinning rainbow, then locks up and quits itself. BUT, if I click the little 'print' button in the toolbar (the one that bypasses the print dialog box), the file will print.
I tried resetting the printing system, setting up different printers on the computer, printing over the network and over USB (directly connected to port 1 on the eMac), and re-downloading/installing the printer drivers for the Brother 5250DN laser printer AND the HP LaserJet 1200 laser printer, but all to no avail.
I can run the Printer Setup Utility and recognize the printers (via Bonjour over the network and via USB), and the computer can run the printer setup utilities, so I know the printer communicates fine with the computer. I also can print to the printers (both the networked one and the Brother) from any of the other Macs (including my own laptop) over the network. But I can't get the print dialog box to show up for any printer on the one eMac.
I'm determined that this problem lies within the OSX printing system, but reinstalling the whole OS is not an option, as I would have to re-setup all the software, user accounts, special network settings, etc. (even if I do an Archive and Install). Is there anything I can do??? (I seem to recall someone else having this problem, but I can't find that thread on the forum).

There's another thread describing this same problem. I am having the issue too. As I posted in the other thread:
"Well, I did a full Archive and Install, with restore user settings, and the thing still won't print! All apps crash when trying to print (except Mail.app, which is odd). So it appears all of the files required for printing are there since Mail.app works, but I still can't print from Safari, Firefox, Preview, TextEdit, etc etc. ARGH!!!!
Next step is to downgrade to 10.4.8."
If that doesn't work, I guess an Erase and Install would be th next step.
