Print to pdf, but don't wanna display date/time
I'm using the print to adobe option to convert a html file to pdf, but everytime I do it, the resulting pdf file always display date and time at the bottom right of the page. Is there a way to get rid off that?
thanks a bunch!
Adobe Reader can't convert html to pdf.

Is it possible to hook a USB external hard drive to an iPad?.....the HD has video on it that I wanna watch on my iPad but don't wanna store it on iPad or iTunes....and way format does the video need to be in to watch on iPad?
There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.
The Kingston Wi-Drive, which costs $50 for the 16 Gigabyte, and then $30 more for every 16 gigs more. It works by you turning it on and then accessing the files on it from an app that you download on your iDevice. You can access music, movies, and other stuff. No connections or anything, it works like a WiFi connection, you connect to it from the setting on the iPad under wireless networks.
Then there is the Seagate GoFlex, which some would recommend over the Wi-Drive. But this one costs $199 and had 500 Gigabytes of storage. It works the sameway as the Kingston: no wires, runs over its wireless connection. You can actually fit up to 300 HD movies on it.
Another option:

LifeCycle Form Server :- My form is rendering as pdf in the browser without displaying data sometimes within data fields, and at other times it will display data. The form consistently displays data when rendered in HTML.
We display the forms in a browser either HTML or PDF format based on the user selection. But the behavior of PDF format is not consistent. Sometimes it renders properly and sometimes the form renders without data.
Dose any one experienced this issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
RKI have been seeing the same issue, but haven't been able to find a fix for it yet. So any info would be appreciated here too.

basham,
You didn't mention which type of DBMS you are using (i.e. Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, etc), but in a nutshell using MS SQL here is the principle. Your time that is recorded in the records is dependent upon a setting in your RDBMS. For instance, the RDBMS can use the machine time (which would most likely be local time), or it can use the machine time with an offset (to accomodate GMT, for instance). GMT is factored differently based upon your time zone (and time of year, i.e. DST or EST, etc). I'm on the east coast so right now my offset is GMT - 5, so if my time right now is 1457, then GMT is 1957. To get SQL to compute an offset you must take the number of hours to offset and divide by 24 (24 hours in a day) and add that to the record in the database. For instance, to get GMT right now I would use:
select cast(getdate()5/24. as char(12))rtrim(convert(char(12),getdate()5/24.,8))' GMT'
Hope this helps. If you're on Oracle, then the mathematical principles remain the same, just the formatting will be different. -
Error in displaying date time value in Thai Windows OS browser.
Hi,
I have a problem displaying date time in the browser which is installed with Thai Windows OS. The time portion (the subset of datetime) does seemed to show correctly. Initially i am suspecting the virtual machine problem but i tried on bith java and microsoft vm, the result seemed the same. I tried to look in the source of the page and the character is just the same as the incorrect character displayed in the browser. The html source is -->
<tr class="TableData">
<td width="76">14/01/04 12:17:06 H-@5H"</td>
the time is displaying incorrectly. I am not sure its due to any setting in the BEA weblogic server. FYI i am now using WLS6.1(SP2) version. Hope and appreaciate a prompt reply. Thanks a zillion in advance.

Exporting a PDF so that non-printing objects show but don't print?
I've just spent a couple hours trying to find an answer to this in the forums, but can't. (The most frustrating was one thread where the original poster said, "I found the answer here," and gave a link that went right back to the main page of the forum. Argh.)
Okay, anyway ... what I need to do?
I've got a document with graphics that I want to show up on the pdf when I export it, but that--if a reader prints it--don't print.
The document looks like a 3-ring binder with "tabs" for each section--just like the real thing. But the rings and tabs go right up to the edge and look terrible when printed, and whose printer can print right at the edge of the paper, anyway? But the tabs work as navigational links while looking a the pdf, and the rings just make it look cool, so I WANT them in the pdf.
I've tried:
Turning the entire layer into a non-printing layer (one that "shows" but does not "print"). But when I export it to a pdf, it doesn't show up on the pdf to look at OR to print. So that doesn't work.
Using the Attribute option to turn each object into a non-printing object, but so far as I can tell, that doesn't do a thing, because they still print from the pdf.
Exporting with the "create pdf layers" turned on and off. Exporting with the "include non-printing items" turned on and off.
Basically, I've pretty much tried everything. I gather, from browsing the forums, that this is POSSIBLE, but can't for the life of me figure out what to do to make it happen. (Short of hiding the tabs' layer and creating an entirely separate PDF and calling it "Print version" which is not exactly what I want to do!)
Is there maybe some magical combination of ons and offs I need to select to make this whole thing work?
(And, seriously, am I the only person who thinks the supporting documentation is just dreadful? I can't find anything in any of the Help screens that even mentions this, much less explains how to do it.)
Any help is appreciated!!
--DebPartial progress...
The button option (and, I'm using CS3, by the way--I should have said that originally) does work in terms of showing on the pdf but not printing.
The problem is that it messes up the way the document looks.
I said it's designed to look like a 3-ring binder with tab-dividers between each section, and each tab has a hyperlink to take you to that section.
Now, when you've got a paper binder in front of you, the tabs stay in the same sequence, and often overlap a bit (which mine do). The problem I'm having, having turned all of them into buttons, is that when you click on any of them, it "jumps" to the front of the row, so that they don't "flow" in the correct sequence.
Am I explaining this well? You know, the top-most tab is at the top of the pile, the next one is always below it and above the third one, and so on ... you never see the second tab on TOP of the first one. I'm trying to get the document to act as close to a hard-copy binder as I can, and it did ... except the buttons keep jostling each other for attention...
I'm going to go play around with this some more now, but ... any suggestions? (Other than restructuring my tabs so that they don't overlap at all?) -
I can't always print to PDF but can figure out why...
For some reason I can't print to PDF in all applications, but I can in some. For instance, I can with Word but not with say Illustrator or Safari or even Preview.
I've tried deleting and adding the printer, both as Generic Postcript and Adobe PDF 3016.102 (the only option when I choose Adobe). I've also searched for a while thinking it was a driver issue or something.. Maybe that I have Acrobat Pro on my Intel back but I installed Adobe Reader, the Intel version, and that didn't seem to work.
Does someone know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? It's not a total pain because mostly I use it when print PDFs with Word, but the fact that others don't seem to work bugs me.
I thought it might be because Word is still PPC, but so is Illustrator so that didn't make sense to me.Hello Doug,
The ability to print pdf's is not dependent on the installed driver. The OS X printing system converts all print jobs to a pdf spool file with a job ticket. It is also not necessary to have Acrobat Pro or Reader installed to generate a pdf or view it. The Print window provides the option to print to pdf even for non PS devices such as inkjets.
Can you explain what happens when you do try to print to pdf from Illustrator or Safari. Do you get an error or does the job seem to process without a document being generated? If you are not sure about the error you can open the Console application and have a look at the entry /var/log/cups/error_log.
Also, have you tried to print to pdf via the Print window or have you always tried to print via Adobe's driver?

Text needs to be printed in PDF but needs to be invisible in sapscript
Hi Experts,
We have a requirement to print a text but that should be available only in PDF and not in print preview or in print.
Please advice how coud I do it.
Best Regards,
Ranjeet.Hi,
Any way to convert script form into pdf you will pass as 'X' to the field OPTIONS-TDGETOTF of the function module OPEN_FORM. You can check the field in the script to differentiate between the print form or pdf to display the text.
I think it will help you.
Thanks

File Printed to PDF does not match file displayed on Print Screen in OD
I have Oracle Discoverer reports (scheduled) that I open and print to PDF files monthly. My files process and display on my computer screen without any errors. However, when I click FILE-PRINT, I immediately receive the error message "Not all rows have been retrieved. Data may be inaccurate." Most times the PDF files print correctly. However, sometimes not all of my columns are calculated when my pdf file opens. Changing settings under options (Query Governor) does not appear to make any difference. Any help would be appreciated. Sandy
Hi Sandy,
this is not an error as such, when u run the report in oracle discoverer desktop, it will fetch only first set of values when you scroll down, it will fetch next set of values and so on, if u go to the setup in the discoverer desktop in the edit menu, you can actually set number of records to be retrieved, If u set that according to ur requirement, you will get all the records and it will be properly printed.

I bought the adobe suites package last summer. My photoshop, illustrator, indesign seem to be loaded ok. I cannot though print to PDF even though acrobat reader seems to be loaded. What should I do?
Hi jofrisch,
You cannot print to PDF on Mac as Adobe PDF printer is not available.
You can save the file as Adobe pdf though.

Does anyone know which apps are web wrapped for allowing IMAPing to mail & calendar have push notifications but don't download data to the device?
Basically, our enterprise would like to allow users to use personal iOS devices to access mail, calendar and contacts (we're on Google Apps). However, our strict security requirements are such that we need to make sure the app isn't being "overly helpful" and saving the accessed data in a cache or pulling it down to the device in any way.
My quick test for checking if apps don't pull down data to reside on the device is to put the device in Airplane Mode. If you can see your email or calendar
entries with an app when it's in airplane mode, then it's pulling the data down or caching it in some way.
I've tested the Google Gmail app and the Google Apps Browser from G-Whizz and both fail this test since they cache the last mail and/or calendar entries accessed.
The only legit way for users to access our enterprise mail and calendar is through the browser only. However, they can't get push notifications or alerts for new emails or from their calendar. The concern and likely outcome is that users will just set up an account on the native Mail app using IMAP, either knowing and disregarding that it's a security violation or not really understanding that they're committing a security violation.
I gotta believe there's an app for that.
Any help be greatly appreciated! The living issue is complex in my case. Legally speaking, I have no personal residence globally. I just live wherever my father goes, which is everywhere. I'm an expat and it seems that these sites aren't really expat-friendly. They seem to be built for localization and assume everyone stays in the same place.
I don't know what I'd be considered. I'm a US passport holder and live in China, but I only speak some Chinese and I can't read it (it using non-latin characters is just too much for my mind's memory to handle). Besides that, I'm not interested in popular Chinese apps. They tend to just be annoying and kooky and generic and put together badly, often full adware and spyware (speaking for most Chinese software, in fact). In fact, a lot of apps I want are illegal in China (YouTube, Facebook, etc) and I use a VPN to use the services. I assume I wouldn't find these apps on the Chinese store. In fact, last I checked, there wasn't many English apps on the Chinese app store. This is probably due to their strict moderation or something.
I've been going to international schools since I got here and college would be in English too. I can speak some Chinese, but not read it.
Well, I guess the answer is that I can't use the App Store in English. So I guess I'll just sign out everything on my phone involving my Apple account and just start using third-party tools to do my business. -
Displaying 'Date & Time' Column
Hi there, I did do some searching/ reading prior to posting this, but haven't found what I'm looking for...
I want to copy/ paste all my texts from my Nokia 6288 to my pc...
-this works no hassle, I simply use the Nokia Phone Browser to load all my 'Inbox' and 'Sent Items' and move them to the desired folder on my hard drive...
Problem is, in the Nokia Phone Browser, I get columns I can't seem to get in either Windows XP Pro or Windows Vista Business (which has more columns on offer)...
This means, when im looking at the files on my PC, rather than using the nokia phone browser, i dont get the same details which is a bit of a problem for me...
So what I want to know is:
How do i get the Date & Time Column (and all the columns the Nokia Phone Browser displays) to show up in Windows XP or Vista or both?
Thanks in advanceHi Austin,
I have two remarks about that.
1) It's better to put the population of change/history attributes into a table trigger of type before row where you assign these values. eg.:
:NEW.CREATE_DATE := SYSDATE;
:NEW.CREATE_USER := NVL(V('APP_USER'), USER);The reason is, it will consistently work for all applications which try to insert a record into this table and don't have to worry about change attributes and second, when you use the default property of APEX it will populate the column with the value when the new row was displayed and not when it was saved and third, a user would be able to fake this value and write something else into it (eg. with Firebug or by saving the HTML page) and "create" the record with a different time as you would expect. -> Define the column as "display only doesn't save state"
2) Don't rely on automatic type conversion, remember that for APEX everything is a string that also means that your default value expression has to return a string to be 100% sure that it work on all systems where the default database format mask of Oracle could be different. Change your code to
TO_DATE(SYSDATE, 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI')Just some thoughts, but a testcase on apex.oracle.com is always good to reproduce and help with such a problem.

Displaying Date & Time in Scheduled Worksheet
I'm using BI Discoverer Plus & BI Viewer.
In Discoverer I've set up a scheduled workbook to create a workbook once per day.
It runs fine and creates worksheets as required.
In Viewer I can open the Workbooks and Worksheets as required.
I want the worksheet to contain the time & date when the data was brought
into the report.
It seems that the date and time is the date and time when I open the report for printing.
Anyone know how I can get the report to include the time and date when the
report was run, rather than when it is displayed/printed?
Thanks
SuhadaRuss,
I think perhaps I'm not explaining what I want very clearly so
here's another attempt:
What I want is in one place on the page, to show the date & time
when the data was extracted.
If I understand correctly, putting &Date and &Time in the Page Title
displays the Time and Date that the Report is display on screen rather than when the Data was extracted from the database.
If I create a Worksheet which has &Date and &Time in it and then
refresh it and then print it then the date and time shown are about right.
However if I create a scheduled workbook which say runs once per day,
wait for a week and then open a report from a few days ago, the data shown
was extracted a few days ago but the &Date and &Time show the current date and time.
It seems to me that when you print a report, what's most relevant is the time
and date when the data was extracted, rather than the time & date that the
report is printed.
I've worked in Business Objects before and it's fairly easy in that to set things
up so that every report has on it both the date & time of when the data was
extracted AND the date & time when the report was printed.
So what I want is a way of showing on the report, the date and time at which the data was extracted, i.e. when the query was run.
Just once, say in the top right hand corner of the page.
I hope that's clearer.

How can I display date+time and not the point number in excell?
Hi everyone,
Could anybody tell me how I can save date + time to a file, so that I can display on a diagram(excel) : date+time in (ox) and data (oy)? :
My program sets in (ox) the point number and not the date+time....( although date and time are written correctly in the column...)
Any help would be great,
Thanks,
regards,
Marchi there,
excel uses 01.01.1900 00:00 as the time offset, LabVIEW uses 01.01.1904 02:00, so you can't display the correct datetime in excel when you write the time as a fractional number of seconds from LabVIEW. you must format the datetime in LabVIEW to a string and write that to the column. use the "Format Date/Time String" - function and for example "%d.%m.%Y %H:%M:%S%3u" as the format string (see the functions help for more examples). you also could format your data to a string using "Format Into String" - function and write the file as a 2D string array. the decimal point you have to use depends on your system and its settings, but you can specify the decimal point in the Format string like "%.;%f" (means fractional number with point as decimal point).
