Print to video camera starts no footage

I went through all the steps and record light comes on camera but no recording. I tried in and out I tried all footage I even brought in a mov file. I am stumped

That helped connect it properly, but now what's happening is that it's displaying the image of the canvas onto the lcd screen of the camera but when I go to Print to Video, the media plays on the computer, the camera records, but the image on the LCD screen of the camera stays still and it just records a still iamge....

  • Print to Video - No Video, but Have Audio

I have a Sony DSR-45A Deck and having issues.
I'm able to log and capture fine and able to print to video. However, when I go to print to video, it starts recording and I get the audio, but no video signal. I don't even have signal when I turn the external video on.
I used it earlier this week and was working fine. It has happened before and I've just restarted and it was fine. Any ideas? The video I printed to Video this week doesn't work, so know it isn't a frame rate issues.
Thanks for any help or suggestions. I've been reading all morning and can't find any one with this problem.
    Kris

If you're getting audio but no video, make sure the deck is set to accept the proper video format (DV-CAM?) in.
Also, you may have to reset things by shutting everything down, plugging your firewire cable in first, then turning on the deck, and then starting up the mac and launching fcp.

  • Play (out to camera) vs. Print to Video

Got a problem here that's hit and miss. Sometimes I can play from FCP timeline with my camera connected to record to tape, other times no (just get my camera's blue screen). I know I can Print to Video, but I'm currently trying to get a two-hour project out to tape (I have to use two tapes, start recording to the 2nd tape in the middle of the project). Is there some setting to make sure I can play from the FCP timeline and record out to my camera via firewire?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Mark G.

I've never used Edit to Tape before (just made the leap from FCE2). When I click on Edit to Tape, the Edit to Tape window (with color bars) pops up over the Canvas window. When I click the Play button in the E-to-T window, my camera begins to play (FCP timeline does not). When I click on the FCP timeline and play the project, it doesn't play on either the E-to-T window or camera. Is there a setting I don't have adjusted correctly?

  • Print to Video HD to cam

I'm trying to layback 1080i to cam tape out of FCX 4. It's a cannon HV20. All I can do is send 720x480. The easy setup is Apple Inter. Codec 1080i60. The View/Video Out/Apple FireWire NTSC (720x480) seems to be the only viable option that gets it to the camera, or did I miss something. I want it to be 1080i, not 720. Is what I want impossible. I would really like to have my HD material edited, then recorded back to tape for viewing full blown.

It still does not appear. Sometimes the camera records nothing, and other times it starts to record but then stops because it is getting no input. I have trashed the program and reloaded it with no difference. I have however gotten it to do something different. If I go into Sequence/Settings and click the button that says "Load Sequence Preset..." and select AIC1080i60 (which is already selected) and click OK, all my clips become unrendered. So I render enough for the "in and out point", start "Print to Video and now I get an additional progress bar that says "Transcoding to HDV". It takes about 4 minutes to get through this. Now it starts recording to tape, BUT...it puts on the count down because I selected that, a small area of video a little squished, and the sound is way out of sync. The sound started with the count down. I'll play with this more tonight, must get back to my real job.

  • How do I print to video  HD footage captured from HD Canon HD20?

So far I've not seen any solutions on the discussion threads for those of us who are unsuccessful in printing to video via firewire back to our HD cameras for archive or display on a HD display via HDMI.
I have combed the posts in several places for settings, and believe mine are correct. FCP
seems happy to export. My camera is obviously not recognized so that it can record.
This seems to be a serious, major, and wide-spread flow in FCP's current work flow, or
am I "unclear" on the concept? Thanks in advance! Apple folks... are you there??

Well, I just BOUGHT this camera yesterday (HV20) and...well...I haven't printed back to tape yet. Don't think I plan to. I'll be making DVDs and outputting to higher end HD formats...like DVCPRO HD or...or...well, that's probably about it.
I don't know what the issue people have with Canon is. I have a GL-1...never had an issue shooting and capturing with it. I pulled the HV20 out of the box, switched it to 24f mode, shutter to 48. Shot for 10 min, captured it without an issue (HDV 1080i60 Firewire Basic) and even captured ONE clip...the camera was started and stopped a dozen times.
But, I haven't printed to tape. I just wanted to say that I have had a positive experience with the camera.

  • FCE: Possible to Capture SD footage from digital video cam?

Ok, probably a daft question this. Don't laugh...
I'm thinking of purchasing a digital video camera that uses SD cards. I currently use a MiniDV cam and connect via Firewire.
Is it possible to capture footage shot on SD cards into FCE?
And, if so, should I use USB from the camera, or insert the SD card into my card-reader?
The camera I'm looking at is able to record HD footage to a 2gb SD card (about 40 mins worth)
    Thanks for your time!

Cheers Tom, I think you just saved me a small fortune..

  • Print to video - HDV 1080i60 to Sony HDR-HC1 camera

Like many before, am struggling with print to video of HDV material captured as HDV 1080i60 to a Sony HDR-HC1 camera. Just can't figure out what settings to use, only get the darn blue screen. Have tried several settings, but no success. Does anyone know the trick? Thanks!

Have you tested the camera with non-HDV just to make sure the camera works?

  • HDV Print to Video - Video Doesn't Display or Record on Camera

I am editing HDV 1080i60 on FCP 5.1.3 and when I try to Print to Video, the camera screen displays "HDV in" and "i.LINK" but remains blue and does not allow me to press the record button. However, with the same camera (HDR-HC1) and using Final Cut Express I am able to print to video (although this is annoying because it has to convert to Apple Intermediate Codec).
Has anyone else had a similar problem?

OK, I have discovered the problem, and it's a doozy.
Her HDV sequence was set for 1280 X 1080, HDV 1080 Compressor, rather than 1440 X 1080. We have no clue how that happened, but it did.
Here's what I had her do last night when she was creating it: She changed the Easy Setup to HDV 1080i60, then created a new sequence. Then she went to the original DVCPRO HD sequence and did a Command-C to copy, then back to the new HDV 1080i60 sequence and Command-V to paste.
This morning, after I discovered the 1280 problem, I did the exact same steps and the new sequence was 1440 X 1080 HDV. I called her and had her do the exact same thing again, and now that new sequence is 1440 X 1080 HDV.
She is now rendering and conforming. I had her make sure ALL of the render bars were checked in Sequence > Render All, and that she chose Both audio and video. This should do it.
Now, the really tough part. I've got to re-read the thread and choose only two Helpful posts. Why can't we have as many as we need??????

  • How can i download video hdv minicassette footage from my sony video camera with no fire wire port?

How can I download video HDV minicassette footage from my sony video camera with no fire wire port?

    Hi,
Are you talking about your computer which has no firewire port ? If YES you can have one of two options:
    (a) Use FCI - Firewire card like this (preferred)
    You can buy from this:
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-Ports-PCI-Express-PCI-E-IEEE-1394A-Firewire-Adapter-Cable-Card-/1507023...
    (b) You can also use USB-Firewaire adapter like this:

  • Print to Video has sound, but just black on camera. What am I doing wrong?

The video shows up on the Mac, but only sound shows up on the camera when I try to print to video. What's going on?

This can happen occasionally and I have never been able to pin down exactly what the problem is.
Try switching FCE off and on, disconnecting and reconnecting the camera etc. and keep your fingers crossed !

  • Mac keeps recognizing my printer as a camera and launching iphoto on start

HELP! Ever since downloading the camera driver for my daughter's camera my computer only recognizes my printer as a camera and won't print. I've changed USB slots, reinstalled the printer driver. nothing is working!!!!

What sort of camera driver did you download? Why was it necessary?
What sort of Printer is it? Multi-Function? Does it have a flash card or SD card built in?
In the meantime, you can disable the link by going to Applications -> Image Capture and using the Preferences, set what happens when you connect a Camera. I suggest that you set it to nothing happens.

    Hello, David,
I wouldn't say that external iSight is fragile either, but I did previously post the following opinion to
Henry in an earlier thread when he mentioned the possibility of substituting an external iSight for a "digital video camera":
You are certainly free to choose how you use your Mac and iSight. However, before built-in iSight was introduced, users often posted that their external iSights had stopped working during or after traveling or long storage. Although I have found no technical data that supports this, I believe that external iSight is less protected against shock, vibration, dust, and humidity than my digital camcorders. If you expect that your video interviews will involve significant travel with or movement of the external iSight, I think that using a camcorder for recording your interviews would be wiser.
I am not certain whether this comment is what Henry interpreted as "fragile", but other readers, including those who have a choice of using an irreplaceable external iSight or their digital camcorder, might want to consider the above when choosing which camera to use for a given video task.
