Print too small and does not fit page.

Using windows XP and a Brother printer. Have tried several steps listed for solving this problem.
In trying to reset firefox printer instruction , cannot locate the print.print_printer in the list to see if that will work. It is not there. How do I solve that problem?
Changed scale and font size and still does not work to restore settings.
Have version 21.0 installed on computer.

If you cannot see any content on pages you printed or in print preview, the cause might be margins which are set too high.
#In order to check the margins, we need to go to ''File'' > ''Page Setup''.
#Once this is done, switch to the ''Margins & Header/Footer'' tab.
#Check what's set there under ''Margins''.
The following are the default values for ''Margins'':
'''Right''': 12.7
'''Top''': 12.7
'''Left''': 12.7
'''Bottom''': 12.7
Check these values accordingly and change them if necessary.

    Hi,
You need to call EE and ask them to send you the correct size. Make sure they don't charge you.
Or you can go into store.

  • Prints too small and doesn't do margins correctly

When printing any document, either form Microsoft Word or the internet, the font sizes come out too small and the margins do not match the settings. For example, I have my margins set to 1inch all the way around and yet the printer prints the paper margins at  **Top 1inch, left and right @ 1.3 inches, and the bottom at 2 inches. This is very annoying because it condenses everything and makes the font smaller.  I have already went into all of the settings both in Word and the Printer. Everything is set right, I am using letter paper 8.5 x 11, it is set up to match that paper, and I've double checked everything. And the paper is loaded in correctly. I seriously don't know what to do. I've even tried selecting "fit to paper" under the printer options and nothing has changed. I am really tired of this printer.
    Please help!

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
Every printer I have ever had seems to revel in messing with us about margins - I had the 7520 printer for a year; in my personal opinion this printer is not better or worse in this regard than others.
I am not being sarcastic; far from it.  I am fully sympathetic.
There is always something going on -- IF it is the printer then it might be one of the following:
Printers have margin restrictions that can get in the way of the settings - and the results manifest themselves in odd ways depending on the document type (Word, PDF, html, some-other-type).
Software can have an effect -- Online Word, for example, may not be the same as Word-in-a-Box and a PDF file on your computer is never the same as a PDF file on the Internet.
If you think the printer is messing with you because the software is tweaked, then you can remove and then reinstall the printer software -- it does sometimes help IF the software is corrupted or out-of-date.
Install Full Feature Software – Printer
You can download files from the Internet and try printing them from your computer -- local files frequently print better from your computer than they do from the Internet.  This assumes you can trust the files to be downloaded onto your computer.  Scan any downloaded file with your best Security Software.
You can try setting Word document margins to Narrow.  This may work as long as you don't get into trouble with other printer margin restrictions of it if doesn't mess up your document.  Depends.
You can try using Print Preview to adjust the margins.
You can try -- when using Word - to adjust the Footer / Header to move the Page Numbers / Headers out of the way of whatever Printer margin restrictions exist.  For example, if the printer cannot print within .5 inches of the edge of the paper, make sure the page numbers have been moved away from the edge of the paper at least that far.
Our British friends know that A4 paper is not American "Letter" paper.  The difference can present challenges - Word offers an Options setting for this to keep the A4 bottom bits from chopping off.  This setting MIGHT do odd things to "Auto" select paper settings in some printers.
You can try using Printing Preferences / Properties to print borderless -- assuming your paper selection combination and printer supports this.
    For example:
Printing Preferences > Paper Quality > Advanced >
Under Printing Features >> Borderless Printing > Select from Drop Down Menu "Print Borderless"
Combine this with Print Preview / Margins

Can someone tell me how to fix these problems. This printer says 'ALL IN ONE e-Printer but it does not fax.

    Hi @mybeaugie
I see you are trying to make the font larger on your printed output, but the small text is only happening when you print from programs aside from documents you create. If you are using Internet Explorer you can use this document; Text is Small When Printing from Internet Explorer. If however, you are using AOL you can following these instructions from this post, 'how do i make the text larger'.
As you can see modifying the text size is going to depend on the program you are using. If you are not using Internet Explore or AOL, can you please post back with more detail. What Browser are you using and what Operating system do you have?  Mac or Windows?
I understand you are also getting a communication error when you try scanning.  Running the Print and Scan Doctor might help. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues including but not limited to:

  • HP P1006 Prints too Small and cartride life is questionable as it's brand new!

My parents just bought an HP P1006 and there are two issue..keep in mind I live across the country from them and they are not computer literate.
Anyway, your help would be greatly appreciated:
Printing is already fading and they hardly use it...no where near the 700 that comes with the installed cartridge
Secondly, it prints very very small
    Any help out there?

Try this for a Quick Fix ...........
After reading other forum comments from people having the same problem with the yellow cartridge popping-out, combined with others who have realised that HP have no interest in compensating anyone for this rediculous example of, at best, 'bad design', or at worst 'blatent planned obsolescence', I have created a 'quick fix' that may add another 1, 2 or more years of life to the HP Officejet Pro L7580 Printer.
This is not the elegant technical solution I was hoping for.  However, in hindsight, it may prove to be a more reliable solution than replacing the faulty part that is actually causing the problem.  So, here it is the Quick Fix ........
I found a wooden triangular door stop that I cut to size that fitted exactly in the space between the plastic door and the offending yellow cartridge. To hold it in place, I wrapped the doorstop with 2" cellotape, then I stuck the door stop to the inside of the plastic door with double sided cellotape (double sided stick-on foam would also work well). With the doorstop in the correct place, the plastic door closed perfectly and was snug enough to apply sufficent pressure to the offending yellow cartridge, and hence stopping it from popping out again.  To make sure the plastic door does not 'fly open' with the pressure of the yellow cartridge (when it wants to pop out!), I applied another piece of 2" cellotape around the outside of the door, holding it to the body of the photocopier.
This exercise only took 10-15 mins to do.  I feel this is a much better option than spending another $300+ on a new All-in-One  system, as well as being a good environmental solution.  If this is DELIBERATE 'planned obsolescence', companies like HP need to be more accountable for, at best, 'sloppy design'.  Any feedback would be appreciated.

  • External 24 inch Monitor Not Crisp at 1080p with HDMI (and does not fit screen)

I have a Macbook Pro (about a year old) and just bought a 24 inch ViewSonic VX2453mh-LED. I have it plugged in via HDMI and at 1080p the desktop bleeds off the edge of the screen. Adjusting the underscan makes the desktop fit correctly, but it does not look crisp. Even when Underscan is all the way off and the desktop is too big for the screen, it does not look nearly as good as my Macbook screen.
I cannot change the settings on the monitor to adjust the screen size, presumably because I am using HDMI and have it set at 1080p. All the other resolution options are awful. How can I fit the screen correctly and esure I am getting the best look? I read something saying that VGA was a better route to go, is that true?

    vkatta wrote:
    1) Go into your monitor's menu
    2) Select Input Source
    3) Select (go into) HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 depending on what you have connected. There you will find 2 choices with the first one selected by default (I dont remember what those options are since am not in front of the monitor)
    4) Select the second option and the display should fit into your screen perfectly
Wow, this is what I was looking for!
I had poured over the monitor settings but never saw this menu. You have restored my faith into the Apple community forums! Thanks!
EDIT: Thank you for coming back on here and sharing after you found a solution.

  • I am trying to print out information on a Google Maps page. I have the print setting on fit to width but the page does not print that way and some of the page that would normally show on page 2 is missing.

The page prints out fine on Internet Explorer, but not on Firefox. 2 pages are supposed to print out but only 1 prints. Also it does not fit to width even though that's the setting.

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. Safebooting disables Launch Agents/Daemon and Third Party Kernal extensions. Here's the article to Safeboot OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? - Apple Support

  • Print too small, tried everything (I think..)

    Hi
I recently installed the driver for this printer from the HP site and replaced some empty ink cartridges. So, printer now prints.
Trouble is, whatever I do in Preferences, or in Word, Acrobat, anything, the page prints too small and centred. The setting in preferences is A4
When I ask the printer to print the TEST pages, i.e the 'Self Test Diagnostic Page' and 'Print Quality Diagnositcs Page' they are both perfect and the correct size.
I am using an older version of Mac OS (10.4.....) but not had trouble before.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

    Hi @migrations
If I am not mistaken, you need to increase the font size within the program you are printing from. Be sure not to increase the zoom, the font size needs to be larger for the print size to be increased.
You may also see a scale to option, or fit to page, in the print preview, this might help too.

  • Page does not fit on paper when printed directly to printer

    Hi experts,
I have developed a form in transaction SFP, using A4 as the paper format for the master pages. If I print to spool and preview and print my form from spool using transaction SP01, the form prints nicely. If I print directly to printer using the generated function module for the form (setting parameter REQIMM to true), the page does not fit on the paper (it is cropped), and also I do not get duplex printing.
Why do I get different results when printing directly to printer as opposed to printing to spool first? How can I ensure that the form is printed correctly when printing directly to printer?
    thanks!

Did you check the window settings of the Firefox desktop shortcut to see how Firefox opens?
Did you try to delete the current Firefox desktop shortcut and create a new shortcut?
Use Restore or Maximize in the right-click context menu of the Taskbar icon to set focus to the Firefox application if you do not see the Firefox window.
Open the system menu of that Firefox window via Alt+Space and see if you can move and resize that window (use the keyboard cursor keys).<br />
If that works then first close all other open Firefox windows and then close Firefox via "File > Exit/Quit" to save that setting.
