Print Utility can't find HP printer on home router

I have a MacBook (OS X 10.4.11) connected through AirPort to a Linksys WRT54G Router.
Internet connection is fine.
I have a HP Deskjet 6127 connected trough TCP/IP to the same Router.
I tried for several hours to connect to the printer using the Print Utility without success.
I have downloaded the print selector software from HP site for MAC OS X which works fine and is able to identify the printer in the network without any extra effort.
In fact by using this software I was able to print a test page.
The weird thing is Print set-up does not find the printer.
I have tried to type the TCP/IP address for the printer using IPP protocol. It says that the address is valid but it fails to select the 6127 printer. It keeps using the Generic Postcript printer. I tried to select the printer manually, strangely this model dos not show in the drivers list.
Connecting the printer to the USB port the computer identifies the printer immediately and works fine.
Any tips?
Ale

In your Applications folder, do you have Hewlett-Packard folder with these files in it...
HP Photosmart Stitch.app
HP Device Manager.app
HP Uninstaller.app
HP Photosmart Edit.app
HP Customer Participation.app
HP Uninstaller
HP Photosmart Studio.app
Device Utilities
HP Photosmart Create.app
HP Photosmart Share.app
And a folder called Device Utilities in that, with...
HP Setup Assistant.app
HP Network Settings Utility.app
HP Message Center.app
HP Registration Assistant.app
HP Photosmart Print.app
HP Software Update.app
And have you run all of them?
Have you tried turning off the Firewall in the Mac and/or Router?
Is this USB or Ethernet, btw?

  • Airport Utility can't find Airport Express after setting up as repeater station

I wanted to extend my 2Wire-based wireless network into a specific room that never seems to be able to pick up the signal, and found the following instructions on how to do so on Apple's website:
(note: these instructions were submitted by another user in response to a question as to whether or not an Airport Express could be used as a repeater station for non-Airport Extreme-based wireless networks - linked here http://store.apple.com/us/question/answers/product/MB321LL/A?pqid=QY4CAJJC7KFTTD KYH72DKPXF4CAUA9D4J).
Yes, you can do this two ways:  If you can connect your airport express to your router via ethernet, then you will perform the following steps in the airport utility:
    1.  Select your airport express.
    2.  Select manual set up.
    3.  Under Wireless, select Participate in a WDS network
    4.  Enter your network name, radio mode, channel, and security
    5.  Under WDS, select WDS main
    6.  Check wireless clients
    7.  Add the MAC address of the router
    8.  Click update
    That's it
Now, if you connect your airport express to your router wirelessly, all the steps are the same except for step 5.  In this step, select WDS remote instead.  Everything else is the same.
I followed those instructions exactly with my Airport Express and, after restarting, the amber light is flashing on and off continuously and the Airport Utility can't find the Airport Extreme base station. What the heck went wrong here?

    Update:
I restarted the laptop I used to set up the AX as well as pushing the "reset" button on the AX (first time - pressed it for 1 second, Second Time - pressed and held for 15 seconds then let go). The Utility still isn't recognizing the base station.
I also upgraded the Utility's software to 5.5.3 right before I went through these steps, and now it's not recognizing the base station. ARGH.
Update #2: I plugged the AX into my laptop with an ethernet cable and the utility STILL can't detect it. This is ridiculous.
Update #3: Not 30 seconds after update #2, it FOUND the **** AX >.< I'm updating the firmware, but I still can't get it to work as a repeater station if I have to plug it into my laptop all the time JUST to get the Utility to recognize that yes, Virginia, there IS an Airport Extreme.

  • My airport utility can't find the airport device.

Everything is connected. I bought the device about eight months ago and have used it successfully to set up wireless networks twice. Now i have a DSL modem, and there was an error that the IP was in use. So i followed some tips online to reset both devices, restart, etc. Currently i have everything connected and plugged in, including with an extra ethernet cable from my laptop to the airport's wan port. However, NOW the airport utility can't find the device and it's just sitting there blinking amber slowly. The modem is all lit up and green and appears to be working. ***? is the airport express broken?

  • Airport  utility can't find my airport base station

Im trying to set up a wireless internet at home.  I have a comcast cable internet connected to motorola sb120 cable modem and I connected an ethernet cable from the modem to my aiport base station. when I open the airport utility in my macbook (also from my iphone 4s) the airport utility can't find the base station.  the base station has a solid green ligh on and the modem "llink" light is binking amber.  If I connect the ethernet cable frm the modem to my macbook I can get the internet with out any problem ...please help me set up my wireless internet with airport base station. ty.

Suggest that you try the following:
    1) Reset the cable modem. There is a reset button on the back or bottom of the device. Check your documentation for the modem for exact details. In general, you press the reset button for a few seconds and then power down the modem completely.
That means pulling the power plug from the back of the modem or the AC wall plug
Leave the modem powered off at least 30 minutes
    2) Perform a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Extreme using the instructions in this document
Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule FAQ
    3) Then power off the AirPort Extreme
    After 30 minutes.....
    4) Connect the Ethernet cable from the cable modem to the WAN port (circle icon) on the AirPort Extreme
    5) Temporarily, connect another spare Ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the AirPort Extreme
    7) Power up the modem and let it run for 5 minutes by itself
    8) Power up the AirPort Extreme the same way
At this point, the AirPort Extreme should be slowly blinking amber
    9) Open AirPort Utility (I assume that you have AirPort Utility 6.0) and click on Other Base Stations, then click on the Base Station xxxxxxx representing your AirPort Extreme to start the setup process
AirPort Utility should suggest that you configure the AirPort Extreme to "Create a wireless network". Accept that option and enter the required wireless network name that you want and passwords
Follow any more prompts as required and AirPort Utility should configure the device for you
Wait 25-30 seconds for a green light
    10) Disconnect the temporary Ethernet cable from your Mac to the AirPort Extreme
    11) Log on to the wireless network that you named during the setup process
    12) Report on your results

  • Airport Utility can not find air port extreme base station

I am running XP home on my computer and have an air port extreme base station connected to it wired. I have no problem connecting to the internet yet more times then not the air port utility can not find the base station. On occasion it will find it but most of the time it can not. Rebooting does not help.

I recently purchased one of the new Airport Extreme base stations and after carefully reading the instructions; I first installed the Airport Utility 5.5 that came on the CD onto my MacbookPro. I then connected the new base station to my macbookpro via Ethernet and power it up. I copied a previously saved configuration onto it. All my printers, IMAC and macbookpro were able to connect.
I then used my older base station and my airport express to extend the N and G networks through the house. My problem was (1) the new Airport utility would consistently lose the older extreme base station and the airport express, (2) An my HP printers keep losing the wireless connection to the new airport extreme base station. The only resolve was to consistently restart the new base station, after which (1) the new airport utility would see the older base station and express again and (2) the wireless connection to the printers would be restored.
After about a week of this, I removed the new Airport Extreme and replaced it with the older extreme (802.11N DRAFT) and de-installed the Airport Utility 5.5 and re-installed Airport Utility 5.4.2 and everything works fine.
Has anyone else experienced any problems with the newly released Airport Extreme (fully 802.11N) base stations and Airport Utility 5.5?

  • Utility can't find base station

I'm trying to change the security protection on my base station but when I open the Airport Utility, it just scans for a long time and says "can't find base station." The station works fine but the utility can't find it. What should I do?

I've had the same issue for several weeks also. Even reverting back to 7.1.1 I still have the problem. It's an issue for me, as the Airport Disk Utility doesn't recognize my USB disk.
While restarting Aiport Extreme temporarily solves the problem, everytime I shut down my Mac, Airport Utility doesn't recognize my disk when I start up my Mac. Have you found out anything yet?

  • Airport Utility can't find base station

I feel like I must be missing something very obvious. But my Airport Utility can't find any base stations, even though I am successfully connected to this network, the base station is about three feet away from the computer, and Internet Connect has no trouble finding it and specifiying the base station's id.
I have just done a wipe-and-install of my whole computer; I've reinstalled all software from CDs or installers, and this utility wanted to upgrade to version 5.2.1 (it says Disk Version 2.0 on the disk) before running, so I did that. And no base station detected, despite rebooting the computer, and rescanning any number of times. I'm using OS 10.4.6.
    What can I do?

There is something puzzling that bothers me, even though I have things working again.
I first lost access to the AEBS when I tried to use Airport Utility to change the security setting of my network. It has been on the default WPA2 setting, and I was wanting to downgrade that to WEP because the long WPA password was too long to be accepted by my Palm TX Wifi software. But the shorter WEP password shouldn't have been a problem. At the time, after my system reinstall, the utility and the base station seemed to be working all right.
When I completed resetting the base station with WEP, though, there was an error message, after which I could no longer connect to the network with my laptop (using the old password or the new password), and then the utility lost sight of the base station as well. I had to do a hard reset and start over. When I did the same thing again, the same thing happened. When I reconfigured the base station with the WPA2 security, though, it all worked, and my laptop could get back online.
At this point I tried changing it again to WEP, and the same problem recurred. One last time with WPA2, and that's where I am now, except that I was pleased to find that my PDA, which had just been replaced under warranty, has some newer software in it and it now can accept my passkey (?)-- my airport code rather than the 64(?)-digit number version of it, so it's working, too.
But apparently Airport Utility has lost sight of the base station again. I don't need it for anything, but this is annoying. What's more curious, though, is what was happening when I chose WEP security.

  • Airport utility can not find extreme station after upgrade to 7.5.2

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
Your system details don't mention what type of Mac you have, but if you can move it near to the AirPort Extreme and connect an Ethernet cable to a LAN port on the Extreme, then AirPort Utility should be able to see it. Once AirPort Utility can see it you can begin to investigate the problem in more detail.

  • Disk utility can't find HDD

    Hello,
I was playing music on my macbook 13" early 2011 and all of a sudden it stopped playing. After I logged in to my account on my mac the screen froze so I decided to do a reboot. After I tried to restart all I got as a folder with a question mark in it. I did my research and did many attempts on fixing it but disk utility just couln't find my macintosh HD. After reading lots about this problem on the web I installed a new (empty) HDD but still disk utitlity wasn't able to find it so I could not install OSX.
Can anybody help me, is it the HDD or something else and how can I solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance!
    Victor Verdonschot

    Hello,
I put the original HDD in an external case. Tried to boot from there and as it seems it works fine. But it still can't find the internal HDD.
    Any help?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Disk Utility can't find my drive. What can I do to fix it?

I started my computer and there was a flashing folder with a question mark. I ran Disk Utility from the disk and it can't find my drive. What can I do to fix it?

Have had this happen on a few older Macs. For me it meant hard drive failure. If you have access to another Mac, you can boot up the flashing folder one while holding the "T". This puts the computer in "target" mode. If you have firewire 400 or 800 cables, patch the 2 computers together. If that flashing folder one is any good, it will show up on the desktop of the 2nd computer as a "firewire drive". You could also try to zap the PRAM by holding the command, option, R and P keys while turning the computer on. Hold keys until you hear the chime, hold it for a second chime and then release. sometimes this has worked for me on a computer that won't turn on at all.

  • Need urgent help! Mac OS X won't start up. Disk Utility can't find harddisk

I started up my computer today, and instead of booting into Mac OS X, the screen shows a folder with a question mark on it. I can startup my machine using my Panther disks that i've got, but when I go to disk utility, it can't find my hard disk. Looks like the hard disk is not mounting at all.
If i try to install Mac OS X, that also doesn't give me a hard disk to install it on..
I really need help on this because I was supposed to get work done today.
Would diskwarrior sort this problem out?
    Cheers

    Hi, Ken.
Start with the troubleshooting steps outlined in "Mac OS X: Your Mac won't start up."
If you're running Tiger (your profile does not indicate what version of Mac OS X you are using) and you only have the Panther install discs, do not use Disk Utility from the Panther discs on your startup disk. See "Only use Mac OS X 10.4-compatible disk utilities with Mac OS X 10.4 volumes."
I recommend you have someone at home send you all the discs you should have with you (Apple Hardware Test, Tiger Install Discs, Software Restore and Install discs, etc.) for your eMac by overnight courier, e.g. FedEx.
When you recover from this problem, it's also time to consider investing in a comprehensive Backup and Recovery solution. For advice on the backup and recovery solution I employ, see my "Backup and Recovery" FAQ.
    Good luck!

  • Airport utility can't find Apple wireless devices including Time Machine

I have a comcast high speed internet modem that is working, connected by Ethernet to a Time Machine. The Time Machine was working fine until this morning when I tried to reconnect to the internet wirelessly on my PowerBook G4. The Time Machine network wanted a WPA password but wouldn't accept the current password. I then tried to set up Time Capsule in the Time Machine dialog box, but it invoked the airport utility which says it can't find any Apple wireless devices. My Time Machine is now blinking amber at me, and I have tried unplugging, resetting, etc. I am on the internet via hardwire Ethernet connect through the Time Machine to the modem, but cannot get Time Machine to show green and cannot see any wireless devices in airport utility. Any suggestions, please?

set the TC to N+B/G do that using airport Utility. once done power off modem and the router. power on modem first then the router.

  • Wireless working, but Airport Utility can't find base station

I am having issues with Apple TV and iTunes that led to me investigating my new Airport Extreme base station (AEBS) as possible cause.
Oddly, I'm right next to the AEBS now and the wireless is working sweetly as I type. However, when I use the Airport Utility to access the base station, it can't find it - I can 'rescan' for all the hours but with no luck.
Any ideas what's going on here?

I've just encountered this problem for the first time. On my brand new MacBook Air (Leopard factory installed), I opened Airport Utility, entered Manual Setup, and restarted my Airport Extreme from the Base Station menu. It restarted, but once it was back up the Airport Utility could no longer find it, even though I was connected to the internet (and the Network preferences pane showed connection and a green light).
I have a MacBook (vintage 2007) that's still on Tiger -- I've never had any problem using Airport Utility from there, so I imagine I can still configure the base station from there. But I hope this issue is on Apple's radar so there'll be a Airport Utility update that fixes it.

  • Airport Utility can't find base stations.

I have three base stations in my network, an old extreme, the new extreme, and an express. On my 17" macbook pro, the airport utility cannot detect any base stations. It can connect to my network, and surf the internet fine. It just can't find the base stations. On my roommates macbook, airport detects them fine. We are both running fully updated versions of Leopard. I have already done a clean install to see if it fixed the issue, but it still persists. The only reason this is annoying is I have lost my ability to stream music to the express station. Has anyone even encountered this issue?

I've had the same problem with my leopard machine.
I have an AirPort Extreme base station connected to the internet and an AirPort Express connected to my stereo set. iTunes couldn't find the express anymore, so I tried to use the Airport configuration program. That couldn't find any base stations (neither extreme nor express) although my internet connection was working (via the extreme base station).
Connecting using an IP address (AirPort config programm, shift-cmd-O) did work, so if you only need to reconfigure the base station you can do that without having Airport Config find the base station.
After restarting the base station my Mac found both the base stations. Go figure.
The trouble isn't caused by sleeping as my Leopard Mac isn't allowed to sleep due to crappy connections afterwards.
