Print wirelessly from SL MBP to Windows Vista-connected Printer

My father just got a MBP, after using PC's all his life. He is trying to print wirelessly to a Canon MX860 printer that is connected to his Windows Vista PC Desktop. There is little to no information that I can understand on the internet about how to make this happen. I found two 'suggestions', but neither seemed to work. Is it possible? Is there a walk-through somewhere that I can send to him?
Trying to make his first experience a positive one; this is making it difficult!

To make this as simple as possible he needs a wireless router. Then both his computers print to the printer through the router.

Are you using Windows XP or Windows Vista?
Did you remove iTunes and the other Apple software also, and then reinstall iTunes.

How do I restore a backup from Time Capsule on Windows Vista?

I have had to restore My Windows Vista PC to original and need to also restore by backup that was made to time Capsule. I can see the daily backups when browsing through the TC via Windows Backup/Restore, but it tells me there are no valid backup files. Any Ideas?

That is purely a windows issue.. the TC is a storage device.. nothing more.. if you can see the files, then the problem is windows cannot find the main or initial backup. Check with Microsoft.. or windows forums.

Windows Vista connects to TC/Airport, but not internet

I have long had a Windows Vista notebook (HP Pavilion dv6000) connect well via a Time Capsule to the internet, along with a PowerBook G4. I recently added an iMac (27" 3.06 dual core) and all was well for a few days, but then had to reset the Pavilion's setting and I can now connect it to the TC/Airport network, but not the internet (I get a "Local only" notation). I've confirmed correct network passwords, tried repair mechanisms, and no luck. Anyone else have this problem?

It sounds like you are unable to get your phone updated by downloading it directly to the device, and it only works when you connect it to iTunes. I would recommend you use the troubleshooting in the following article with different troubleshooting depending on the issue that it is having:
Resolve issues with an over-the-air iOS update
If that does not resolve, or doesn't address the issue, can you elaborate on what is happening when you try?

Printing to a C3180 printer wirelessly from a macbook and windows XP PC

OK, this is crazy. I followed the steps ifelix outlined in his links, and much to my satisfaction, everything worked great.......for about a week. Suddenly, I cannot print to the HP anymore from either the macbook wirelessly (I get the 10.0.1.1. is busy message), or the windows XP PC connected to the Airport! If I attach the printer directly to each computer, it functions fine. Any thoughts? I cannot understand why it worked for a while and then suddenly..poof!

Have you tried deleting from Printer Setup and re-Adding?

From the Mac as it is easier to use.. open airport utilty and go to the disks, file sharing page. turn on the guest account.. give read write access.. and make sure the TC is in the correct workgroup or type in the work group name.. update the TC.
In vista.. Open windows explorer.. in the address bar type \\ip\
IP meaning the IP of the TC. . wait.. waiting wait.. windows scratches its bum.. thinks some more.. will finally kick up a username and password request.. type in whatever you need. Voila.. TC appears.

Airport Disk access from the internet via Windows Vista

I have an Air Port Extreme base station and am sharing an external hard disk connected to it by the USB port. Local network connections work well with both mac's and windows machines. I am able to connect to the airport disk from the internet with my mac's fine. afp://ip address. How can I connect to this same air port disk from the internet with my PC's which run Vista? There must be a way? I have tried endlessly for many hours. any help would be appreciated.

This works fine from local network, but not from a remote location from the internet. Maybe my syntax is incorrect. My workgroup name in the Airport Utility is "Apple"
Connected locally "\\APPLE1\My Book 500GB" works and makes a connection from the map network drive windows pane. \\Apple1\my book 500gb also connects if entered from IE, again locally. What would be the correct syntax to access it from the web?

I can't print wirelessly from my iMac although it is connected to the same network as the printer and I can print fine from my iPad to the same network

I have downloaded and installed the driver from the HP website for the HP Envy 5530. While I can send documents from my iMac to the printer using a USB cable, it will not print wirelessly. When I tried to install the wireless connection, I got the dialogue box saying "Devise not reachable" and it suggested I check whether the iMac is connected to the wireless network (it is and the signal strength is excellent, Safari runs well) and that I check the printer is connected to the same network (it is). I am able to print items from my iPad wirelessly using the network so I don't understand why the iMac won't recognise the printer wirelessly when everything else works fine.

From the Safari menu bar, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Advanced
and check the box marked
          Include Bonjour in the Bookmarks menu
if it's not already checked. Then select
          Bookmarks ▹ Bonjour ▹ Name of printer
A web page served by the printer should open. Does it?

Putting iTunes list from G5 to a Windows Vista computer

My son has recently purchased a new windows computer ( his problem , and mine now too I guess ) and he wants to transfer all his music from the G5 to it. He has it all on a backed up on a Lacie hard drive that has Firewire, but the new windows computer only has USB .. Is there a way or many different ways to accomplish this ?
The windows computer has both a CDRW/DVD and DVD+/-RW drive if that helps at all !

I just made a back up DVD on the G5 and then loaded it onto the Vista iTunes .. worked great and took 10 mins total with both machines

When attempting to set up wireless printer it advises to temporarily connect a USB cable. When I do this the computer hangs and won't advance. The first time I attempted to install it said my password was wrong. I've not been able to get back to that point where it asks for a password. I've tried re-installing, restarting, etc. and nothing seems to work.
