Print with 10.9 on Canon CLC 11xx Via ColorPass Z800?

I would like to ask if above is possible?
(Because of difficulties printing with 10.6.8,
the white borders around the printed areas went big,
I went back to 10.6.6
Today my iPad doesn't join 10.6.6 anymore
that is why I would like to install 10.9.)
Thank you

There is no driver for the Z800 for 10.9. But I'm pretty sure there wasn't one for 10.6 either, so you were either using the Generic Postscript driver, which would explain the large margins, or a driver for some other model of ColorPASS (or Fiery).
EFI does have a generic driver called Fiery Express which you can download from EFI. Note that you will have to register first to be able to access any driver.

  • Cannot print A3 from InDesign to Canon clc 4040 printer

Hi I have a problem that may or may not have anything to do with InDesign...
Office with 5 Mac Pros, PowerPC models, all running identical OSX 10.5.latest, Adobe CS4 everything.
All software up to date. Basically all machines identical.
All users are storing their files on the same network volume.
3 Macs can print A3 to the Canon clc 4040 but 2 cannot. This is Mac20 used by Kirsti and Mac07 used by Kevin.
If Kirsti sits at Mac20 she cannot print A3 from InDesign. It prints an A4 page, being part of the whole A3 document (its not the A3 doc shrunk to fit A4) The same goes for all other apps including MS Word. Page setup =A3, printer setup = A3, result... printer prints A4. BUT she can print A3 from Quark XPress 8.0.
If Kirsti logs in to another Mac she still cannot print A3 BUT the usual user of that Mac CAN print A3. But if they try to print Kirsti's files A3 they cannot.
All Macs have exactly the same driver from Canon. Latest version 2.0 from their website.
Deleting the InDesign preferences from the Mac makes no difference.
    All Macs on same network.
All connecting to Canon clc 4040 via network using IP or using Bonjour. Same result with either protocol.
I have deleted and re-installed the printer countless times.
The only "work around" is to remove the A4 tray and "force" the printer to use A3.
The above scenario is the same for Kevin on Mac07
The Canon CLC 4040 has a "Fiery RIP" whatever that is...
Can anyone point me at where the problem lies? I have had a Canon tech on site but he could do nothing.

My experience is with CS2 on OS 10.3.9 and 10.4.11, so this may have changed in CS3, or 10.5....
Setup a custom paper size for your printer.
This can be accessed from within the InDesign Print window.
    File > Print
    Select your printer from the
Printer: pulldown menu (if not already selected)
    Click
Page Setup... at the bottom left
    Click
    Settings and then select
Custom Paper Size from the list of options
    Click
New, name the style, define the paper size and printable margins, and save it.
Click OK to exit the page setup.
In the InDesign Print Window, Click on
    Page Setup... again
    Select
Your New Paper Size in the Page Setup
Paper Size: pulldown, then click OK.
    InDesign Print window
Setup should reflect the new page size and list the paper size as "Defined by Driver"
If your document page size is the same as your paper size, then the preview in the lower left should reflect that.

  • Can't print with Airport Extreme and Canon MP610

Can anyone suggest a way around this?
I am unable to print using my new Canon MP610 multifunction printer when connected via my Airport Extreme, but I can print when connecting the printer to my computer directly, not using the Airport Extreme. After several hours of frustration, updating drivers and firmware, etc, I contacted Canon and received an email back stating:
    "MP610 is not supported by
Canon with a wireless connection through an Apple Airport. This does
not necessarily mean that it will not work, but we are not able to
    provide configuration and troubleshooting information."
Last summer, my daughter was able to use the same Extreme to print wirelessly using her Mac Book Pro and her Canon MP600 multifunction printer (note - different printer model).
Sounds like Canon isn't saying it won't work, but they cant' help.
If anyone can offer a suggestion to work around this, I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Doug

The most comprehensive set of troubleshooting instructions for printing problems involving Airport printers is found at:

It is possible your printer simply cannot be made to work in this manner, and is more often than not a problem with multifunction printers.

  • Canon CLC 700/800/ - ColorPASS M20

    Hello!
I have a Canon CLC 700/800 printer and a ColorPASS M20 printing rip connected to it.
After upgrading to 10.6.4, I can no longer add the printer. My Mac can't find it. It's probably a driver issue, but it does not seem to be any Snow Leopard drivers existing for this printer, nor for the M20 rip.
The updated driver package that Canon released a couple of weeks prior to Snow Leopard release does not include drivers for my printer.
Is there any way to get this printer working with Snow Leopard?

Okay, found the M20 Administration Guide but the PDF was locked for copying. So I have written out the procedure for you below.
With regards to the internal web page of the M20, there is a section called Fiery WebSetup. This lets you configure the M20 remotely, however this is only supported over IP and Windows. So since the IP is not yet set then we cannot configure remotely and will have to use the control panel of the M20.
    1. Press the Menu button and go to the Functions menu
    2. Scroll with the down arrow and press the button next to Reboot Server
    3. At the setup message, press any key
    4. Choose Run Setup
    5. Press the button next to Network Setup
    6. Select Protocol Setup
    7. Select TCP/IP Setup
    8. Set 'Enable TCP/IP for Ethernet' to Yes
    9. Enter a valid IP address for your network
    10. Enter the correct subnet mask for your network
    11. If there is a router on the network you can enter this IP address in Gateway Setup
    12. You can now save and exit the Network Setup but while still in Network Setup you can enter Service Setup
    13. Enter LPD Setup and set 'Enable LPD' to Yes
    14. Exit from Service Setup and then exit from Network Setup
    15. Then select Exit Setup. This will reboot the M20

  • Text not printing with Black Ink on Canon i560

I've been having a pretty annoying problem with my Canon i560: When printing black text, instead of using the black ink, the printer mixes black from the color inks. This has been a problem for a little while but recently, the colors got a little offset so it became really obvious.
Also, I just received an update for the Canon printer drivers and according to the Apple page, the Canon i560 is supported and the drivers are actually updated.
I'm pretty sure that it's a driver problem because I can print from a Windows virtual machine to the exactly same printer all other variables remaining the same - and guess what: When printing from Windows, black is black, colors are colors, as one would expect with this kind of printer.
So, does anyone have an idea how I can make my make send the right signals to my Canon i560?

Ah, sorry, I missed that when reading your reply. Probably should have re-read it. However, I have just made a test-print from TextEdit with the "Grayscale Printing" checkbox enabled - and I'm still getting precisely the same ugly, greenish result.
Then it is not working as it should be and it is either the driver or the core printing system. To check both there is alternate driver available called Gutenprint. With this driver suite installed you can create another printer queue on the Mac, this time selecting the Gutenprint i560 driver. When you then print and have the i560 Gutenprint driver selected, change to the Printer Features menu and then select the General tab in Feature Sets submenu and then set the Color Model to Grayscale. Does this work correctly?
And with the Canon driver, if you want to repair the colour offset, you can go to Print & Scan, select the i560 using the Canon driver and then open Options & Supplies. Then select the Utilities tab and click on Open Printer Utility. This will open the Canon IJ Printer Utility. From here you can select the Test Print menu and then Print Head alignment.

  • Is it possible to print with 10.8 via Colorpass Z800 on CLC 1130?

Because of bad Video on PB Pro, June 07, i have to buy a new one.
But I'm not sure if it is possibe to print.
    Does anyone know?
    Many thanks

It will work fine. You will have to add the printer using IP > LPD or IP > HP Jetdirect as there is no AppleTalk support on 10.8. Note that if you use LPD then you do have to enter the Queue name of print.
There is also no official driver. So you can use the Generic Postscript included with 10.8.

  • Can't find my printer from my MacBookPro. Canon MX870 connected via ethernet to my Airport Base station

I have a MacBookPro3,1. My Canon MX870 is connected to my Airport base station via ethernet. It was working fine until two days ago. I restarted my computer, the printer and the airport and router. Reinstalled the driver for the printer and even reset the airport. Best I can tell it's something with my MacBook. My girlfriend was over yestrday and she has a newer MacBookPro and I can find my printer fine on her MacBookPro but I can't find it at all on mine. I'm at a complete loss. Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated.

I wonder if one of the “printing” plists has become corrupted. Find your preferences file in the library under your user name. Scroll down to the series of printer plists starting with “com.apple.print“. There are a series of them, even one specifically for the mx 870. You can delete a plist with relative impunity as they are rebuilt when you restart your MBP. I would delete 1st the one that has 870 in the name, put it in the trash, but don’t empty the trash,  and restart. If that doesn’t solve the problem you can delete others- like the “print add“ plist or print center plist. Restart after each deletion and see if that solves the problem. You can always drag  the deleted plists out of the trash  and put them back where they came from as long as you don’t empty the trash.
    Good Luck!

  • Printing to greyscale by default with the Canon CLC 4040-H1 v2.0 PS Driver

We recently got our new Canon CLC 4040-H1 up and running with the v2.0 PS Driver.
The problem is, unlike our Canon 3220-C1, we're unable to set it to print to greyscale by default.
In the client driver software for both the 3220-C1 and the 4040-H1 there is a drop down menu for choosing colour, greyscale or "printer's default." The "printer's default" option is also the drop down menu's default setting.
The problem is, as opposed to the 3220-C1, the 4040-H1's Fiery onboard driver software doesn't have an option under PS Setup to choose what you want this default setting to be. So the default is colour.
We've got our technical engineer's looking into it further but I'm not holding my breath. In typical Canon style we have a regression inherent in our "upgrade" and trying to get Canon or EFI to update this driver software will probably be like getting blood out of a stone.
So, does anyone know a work-around for this? Have I overlooked anything?

    Hello Christiaan,
We don't use this setting on our iR C5185-H1, as we have a b&w iR for text-only work, but I checked the H1 config page and agree that no setting is available to default the machine to grayscale. The interesting thing is that without the H1, the iR C does have the ability to set b&w as a default, but this setting is not available when the H1 is attached.
The only thing I can suggest is to create a b&w preset and educate your users on using this preset. Note that once a preset is selected, it will stay the default until the preset is changed.

  • Unable to print with my Canon PIXMA IP 4700 and JetDirect network appliance

After many tries I decided to post my question.
I have a Canon PIXMA IP 4700 connected to the network with a Jetdirect 175X box. So I tried to add a new printer with a "HP Jetdirect Socket" port. I have previously installed the driver from the official website. The test page is staying on the spooler.
I also tried with LPD port (supported by the Jetdirect box) and IPP but nothing is working.
When the printer is directly connected with USB, it's working fine. Printing from my others Windows computers is working fine too since many months.
    Thank your for your help.

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Your problem is being caused by the Canon driver. It cannot be used when the printer is connected to the USB port of a 3rd party print server, or if shared by Windows.
The solution is to use a driver like Gutenprint or PrintFab. Gutenprint is preferred because it is free (it ships with OS X) however the iP4700 is not listed as a supported model. The iP4600 is listed so you could try selecting this model in the Print Using menu (shown as Canon PIXMA iP4600 - Gutenprint v5.2.3). If the iP4600 Gutenprint driver does not work that well then you could look at using [PrintFab|http://www.printfab.net] which does support the iP4700. It costs €49 but there is a 30 day trial so at least you can try it before committing to buying.
Another option would be to use a Airport device, like the Express, instead of the Jetdirect print server. With the printer connected to its USB port you can then use the Canon iP4700 driver on the Mac.

Printopia is another option but be aware that since these solutions effectively act as a print server and AirPrint receiver, they require a computer to be running on the same WiFi network.
Canon also has a couple of apps in the App Store that might facilitate this on non-AirPrint printers. Check out...

  • I want to use my canon pixma ip4500 as my printer with my good ole G4.  I need a driver.  Is there an easy  way to get that or is my G4 too old?

I want to use my canon pixma ip4500 as my printer with my powerbook G4.  I need a driver but was very confused with how to get one.  Is it possible and could someone come down to my level and tell me step by step how to do it?  Many thanks.

Nope, your PB is not too old.
Here is the link to the PIXMA ip4500 drivers on Canon's site:
    Drivers & Software
The page has you first select your version of the Mac OS (10.4) from the pull-down "Chose Operating System" menu. Once selected, you'll see the available software, Click on the arrown next to "Drivers" and it should look like this:
(click image to enlarge if needed)
Click the word "Download " and you'll get the driver.
Note at the top of that image there are other links to other documents pertaining to this printer. If you click on "Brochures and Manuals," while you are on that web page, you'll have Canon's instructions, probably better done than by anyone here other than someone who has the same printer model on a Mac running OS 10.4.

  • Problems printing with PSE12 and Canon Pro9000 MII

There seems to be a problem with PSE 12 and the print function.  Using my Canon Pro9000-Mark II the size is off.  Set to 8 x 10 photo paper in either landscape or portrait, PSE will print it to what looks like a 16 by 20 print, even though all setting are for an 8 x 10.  Another problem is that even though the 9000 is set as my default printer, PSE always returns to my Epson 1400.
To further complicate this matter, if I use the Automation tool and select Canon Print Studio Pro, the 9000 prints perfectly with PSE12.
    Can anyone offer any suggestions?.

Usually posted problems with the Pro9000 are poor colour matching ones, I don't recall a sizing problem before.
Have you checked all the places where size may be set, both in the PSE Print Dialogs (check paper size and print size, and under more options 'custom print size) and in the standard printer driver ?
Out of interest why would you NOT want to use Canon Print Studio Pro plug-in ? I thought this was Canon's recommended printing work flow.

  • Anybody has any problems with installing and printing with canon lbp6650dn?

    hi,
i bought a new i-sensys lbp6650dn and i am trying to make it work with my macbook 10.5.8. the installation cd that comes with it does not work with mac. i downloaded the latest drivers from canon's website, and could add the printer to my list.
computer's connected to the printer with USB. both the computer and the printer show no error, but whenever i try to print a document it starts printing jumbld letters and numbers that look like programme codes. moreover, it prints around 20 pages for a 1-page document. does anybody know what the problem might be? i am not sure whether there is something wrong with the computer's settings or the printer's. it's the first time installing a printer is giving me such a hard time. any help would be much appreciated.
    thanks!

Try reseating your memory. Sometimes this occurs when the RAM is not seated all the way in the slot.
You could also boot from your 1st install disk while holding down the D key. Then run the diagnostics on your MacBook.

  • Canon MG6220 wierd zooming/cropping printing problem, only when printing with Windows XP?

The printer in question is a Canon Pixma MG6220, connected to a WindowsXP printer.  I've printed this same document on a Brother laser printer, that is connected to the same computer, and it prints correctly.  I've printed this same document on a Epson inkjet printer, and it prints correctly.  I've printed this same document at Staples, on one of their big laser printers, and it prints correctly.  So, this printing problem is only occurring with this Canon printer. One other thing that may help you with this, is that last night I moved this Canon printer to another computer, except this one had Windows 7 on it, and it printed flawlessly!  So, it seems that it may have something to do with Windows XP printer driver.
I'm printing a one page document from Word 2002 which consists of about 10 pictures, no text.  All the pictures on the page are the same height but a different width.  When I print the document, some of the pictures print correctly and some of them do not.
Essentially, what is happening is that some pictures are zoomed in about 50%, yet still print in the same area that is set in the document.  So, the image looks like it has been rudely cropped.
The oddest thing is that this only happens to some of the pictures.  There is nothing special about these pictures.  The pictures that print correctly are from the same source as the ones that don't print correctly. I’ve done other Word documents like this, with the same format but different pictures, and they printed wrong too, some pictures correct and some zoomed/cropped.
Here is a summary of the pictures from the files I attached,  and which ones  printed correctly, and which did not:  The first one is a screen capture of the Word document, and the other is a scan of the printed document.
    Row 1
        Pic 1 – error (zoomed/cropped), Pic 2 – error, Pic 3 – correct, Pic 4 – error
    Row 2
        Pic 1 – correct, Pic 2 – correct, Pic 3 – correct
    Row 3
        Pic 1 – error, Pic 2 – error, Pic 3 – correct, Pic 4 – error
    Row 4
        Pic 1 – error, Pic 2 – error, Pic 3 – correct
One observation of the incorrectly printed pictures, is that the upper left corners appear unaffected.  It is the lower right corners that get the weird zooming/cropping effect.

Urgently restore a backup of the registry.
Urgently do not use the word 'urgently' in a forum of volunteers.
Also it can not be urgent, as Forms 4.5 dates from the Flintstone age, and probably isn't even certified on XP.
However, the error message is very clear: Apparently Forms 4.5 uses the registry to store printer info: you need to get that entry back. That kind of info is usually documented. Documentation is likely still online.
