Print with 4x6" paper??

Hi folks - using the print module for the first time... I have 4x6" photo paper and I load it into my HP LaserJet P1102w correctly - but - I fail to see in the Lr3 Print Module where it gives me the paper size option to use a 4x6" paper" Closest fit is A6 which is not close enough.
Thanking you!

well that makes sense then. Can't imagine why my printer would offer so many size options but not 4x6, 5x7, etc... and for that matter it only offers millimetres and not inches.. Maybe in the initial setup it assumed I would not want inches but... inch dimensions are pretty universal pertaining to photos!
Anyways - thank-you.  After much messing around and shrinking margins - I was able to print (essentially) a 4x6 albeit with a little border.
Cheers ~

  • Problem printing on dot-matrix printer with continuous paper

    Hi,
We're currently developping an .net application for a customer of ours in VS2005 (c#). I used crystal reports for VS2005 to create an invoice.
The invoices have to be printed on a dot-matrix printer with continuous paper (Brother M-4318). When an invoice is only one page long, there's no problem. Even when printing several sigle-page invoices after another, all goes fine. The problem occurs when an invoice is more then one page longe. The first page comes out correctly, but on the following pages everything moves ca. 3 mm upwards (3 mm on the second page, 6 mm on the third page, and so on...). On the report 'Design > Printer Setup', I selected the right printer, the right paper size, ... On the report there's a page header (consisting of two sections), and there's a page footer that is only printed on the last page, but there are no report header and no report footer.
I can not figure out what seems to be the problem. Has anyone else had this or a similar problem before? If so, please let me know. Any suggestions are welcome.
    thx

Continuous paper is a little bit longer than normal A4 paper. I found only one way to set it: ReportDocument.PrintOptions.PaperSize =CrystalDecisions.Shared.PaperSize.PaperFanfoldStdGermanI had no success, setting continuous papersize by printer setup.  ... waiting for CustomPaperSize-Property (like CustomPaperSource)... • Cropping a photo to print on 4X6 paper, printing on paper and other issues.

    Good morning everyone,
    I have a Canon PIXMA MP830 and a Powerbook G4 running iPhoto 4.03
I just got the printer and was trying to print some pictures from iPhoto last week using 4X6 paper. I tried selecting paper size in the advanced features before printing. However, when I previewed in Preview, the picture was in the middle of the preview screen and when I hit print, only the upper quarter corner of the picture printed on only part of the paper.
I found on this forum that I need to try cropping the pictures first. How do I know that they are cropped to 4X6? I guess what I mean is, I don't want to cut anything out of the picture itself. If I crop, won't I have to take part of the "field of view" from my pictures? Also, even if I could do that to print it, how do I make sure that I can retrieve the original picture.
In the past, I have wanted to crop just someone's face. To do this I made a duplicate of the picture and then played with the duplicate so as to not lose my original. Is this the way to do it???
Thank you to everyone for helping me so much in the past and this time as well.
    Sincerely ,
    Jenn

    hi Jennifer
in your preview window, do you have a box where you can check. it should say "center image".
cropping is not required prior to printing. you only need to crop if you are trying to isolate a area of the image. if you like the picture the way it is all you need to do is resize the image itself. either larger or smaller. anyone that tells me that i have to crop before printing i will guarantee to ignore.
i have been printing for a number of years, sometimes as a business i know what i am doing.
i save the images onto CDs before i begin editing. i edit the originals.

  • Photos in iPhoto don't print on 4x6 paper

I have tried printing pictures from iPhoto to my Canon MP980 printer and the picutre is printing half of the picture (almost like it is set to print a 4x6 picture on an 8.5x11 piece of paper). I have changed the printer settings numerous times to 4x6 borderless and always double check before printing. I have even dragged it to my desktop and tried printing using preview and got the same result. I have changed the physical settings on my printer to make the default 4x6 but nothing seems to work (I even tried changing from landscape to portrait which only resulted in getting a little more picture printed).

Give this a try: make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
A long shot but if it works will be quicker.

  • Designjet 130 printer with Epson paper?

Anyone tried printing with a Designjet 130 printer on Epson paper stock?  The reason I ask is I'm considering replacing my Epson 4000 with a Designjet 130r and still have a lot of Epson paper stock on hand.   I guess I'd be on my own as far as developing the ICC profiles for the various paper types.   Money is tight and I hate to waste the paper, on the other hand I don't want to spend any more money on ink for the 4000, most of which ends up in the maintenance tank due to constant pen clogs and cleaning cycles.

This forum is focused on consumer level products.  For the Designjet you may have better results posting in the HP Enterprise Designjet forum here.

  • Printing on 4x6 paper from LR's print module?

I'm trying to print a set of photos on 4x6 photo paper but the prints come out on the 8x11 paper sheets of my HP Photosmart 7520 printer. I've read all the forums on that topic and my settings are correct. The preview displays the images in the correct format, yet when I print, it comes out at the bottom right-hand corner of a full sheet of paper.
I don't have that problem in Photoshop nor in Mac's preview (which is what I've had to default to doing). I use a MacBook Pro.
Again, it works fine everywhere else, except when printing from LR5 itself. Judging from entries in the forums, this appears to be a problem, but I've not seen a solution listed. Help?!
    Thanks in advance,
    Michele

In the print module, go to page setup (bottom left of screen), and when the printer setup screen pops up.  Set it for 4X6 as you would for Preview.  You will see the new size reflected on the main preview window.  Adjust the borders and size on the right panel, and choose print one.  Should work.

  • Print report with continous paper by a thermal printer

I am trying to design a report (using Crystal Reports for VS2010) for a receipt to be printed on a thermal printer with continuous paper.(8centimeter paper)  Now a receipt will need to have variable height according to the number of items it contains.
The problem is that Crystal Reports takes the page setup from those available in the print setup and all these paper sizes have a fixed length .
How can I set the paper to a continuos paper?

    Hi,
When you go to Crystal Reports | Design | Page Setup there is an option for Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size.  Put a check in the box.  You can set the horizontal size.
Also make sure you do not have anything in the page header or footer.
    Good luck,
    Brian

  • D7460 Photosmart cuts off borders on 4x6 paper in tray

Photosmart D7460 with 4x6 paper tray.  Windows Vista.  Printing from the Microsoft Photo Gallery.
Have tried phone support and live chat to no avail.
This printer comes with a 4x6 paper tray and when I print to it, all photos are cut off at the borders so most heads look flat.  Have found no solution except to use 8.5x11 paper and print two 4x6 photos and then cut them out.
Can anyone help with proper settings specifics or is this not possible?  'would like to know that also.
    Thanks

    Hi there,
Unfortunately, the printer doesn't know exactly where the page is.  That is, it doesn't knwo the exact position and skew of the page, so overspray is necessary to create a borderless image.  You can print images with borders, or you can get some chopping of the image.  Add to that, the aspect ratio of the original picture and the paper may not even be the same.  For example, a 4x6 is not the same aspect ratio as 5x7, and neither of these are the same as an 8x10.
I think (can't verify right now) that if you print your pictures from the front pane, you can actually control where the cropping occurs, so you don't end up with tops of heads being removed.
Again, apologies, but I hope this helps somewhat.

  • How do you print a 4x6 photo

HOW DO YOU PRINT A 4X6 PHOTO

Such a vague question, the answer could be with a printer silly, or with a printing service, or well you get he jist.
In photoshop, you can set the document size using the menu option Image>Image>Size the set the physcal unit to inches and set your width and height to 4 x 6 and set the ppi to 300.
Another option is to open an image the either reduce the entire size by using the Image>Image size or use the crop tool which will remove portions of the image you don't want.
Before doing any reductions, plan out what you will be printing on. Does your printer support 4x6 paper? If not you will need to print to a full page 8 1/2 x 11 for example.
For this example you will create a new document set the image size to the full sheet of paper. Then you can drag the opened 4x6 image to 8.5 x 11 document or use file>place and place your 4x6 images that are already saved on your drive.
In the 8.5x11 document you can rearrange the 4x6 images how you see fit. When you print the page, you can then cut the prints with sissors or a paper cutter.
And I am going to quit there as I am sure, I already went overboard with instructions.

  • Can't print to correct paper size.

I am using an HP Deskjet 5440. I want to print to 4x6 paper. I go into iPhoto 6.0.6 and set up a picture to print on 4x6 paper (or so I think). I hit preview. It looks perfect. I hit print. It prints about an eighth of the picture (right proportions and all, as if it were going to look right on the paper) then stops and spits it out as if it's finished. Okay, I go into Photoshop Elements and try to print again using that program, this time it prints half the page correctly and spits it out after that. Then I go into Preview. It prints out 3/4 of the page correctly, but there is still white space on the page. What am I doing wrong? I would think that if it looked right in the "preview" mode, it would print out that way. Why is it not printing out to the full page. It's a landscape picture and I select landscape mode, I set it to fill a 4x6 page. In Page Setup I select 4x6 borderless printing. I just want it to look like it does in "preview mode." Can somebody please help me and tell me how to get it to print the entire image on the whole piece of paper? Thanks.

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried what you suggested and it didn't work. I am getting more and more frustrated. I don't know what the problem is. It's affecting all my photo programs though. It's not only happening in iPhoto, but my new Photoshop Elements and in Preview. It just prints out half the picture on 4x6 paper, whether I select landscape or portrait. If I print the picture out on 8 1/2 x 11 it comes out okay in the middle of the paper in 4x6.
Here's more details. I scanned in a bunch of negatives on my new Epson Perfection V200 PHOTO scanner. I used the negative caddy to scan them in. I scanned them in using 3200 dpi and original size target. I imported all the pictures to iPhoto and tried to print some of them out. When I set it up using 4x6 borderless printing, it only printed the picture on half the paper. It looked as if it was going to print correctly, but for some reason the printing stopped at half the page. When I used the other landscape setting it printed out the OTHER half of the picture. So, now I can tape the two halves and make one picture, but not a real solution, is it?
So, I opened up Photoshop Elements, which I also just purchased. I tried printing from there and it still only printed a partial picture. The same result came from trying to print it from Preview. Although, sometimes, the printer goes through the motions of printing and then NOTHING is printed on the page.
Also, for some reason, the black and white photos come out looking as if they've been through some sort of filter, like "emboss" or something similar. What could be causing that?
Here is what I am using:
    Intel iMac 20 inch
    2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo
    2 GB of SDRAM
    256 Megs VRAM
    iPhoto 6.0.6
    Photoshop Elements 4.0.1
    HP Deskjet 5440
    Kodak Premium Photo Paper 4x6
I have tried various settings and I cannot get it to print on a full 4x6 page. Even when I use constrain or page setup or various combinations.
When I printed out large numbers of 4x6 photos on my old iMac G3 last year using the last version of iPhoto and the same HP Deskjet printer, they came out perfectly. They had been taken with a Kodak Digital camera.
Any help would be appreciated, I get more and more frustrated.

  • I cannot get automator to print to 4x6. It only recognizes 8x10. Help.

I am trying to create a folder action that will print to 4x6 paper. I've set up my default printer and paper size correctly yet automator "Print Images" does not recognize the default and tries to print it in letter size.
Is there any way around this?
    Thanks

Anyone ever figure this one out? I've got the same problem. When I print to my printer from another app, there is a specific paper size that shows up, as defined by the printer's driver. For some reason, in printer setup, this paper size isn't selectable from the list of defaults, and adding it manually still won't fix it.
It seems to print ONLY when the paper size is specifically set to what the driver wants, and Automator seems to totally ignore that.
    Help?

  • Not able to print to custom 4x6 paper size with Pages 5

I'm having a lot of trouble printing to a custom 4" x 6" paper size with pages 5.  I create my custom size, switch the page setup to use that size in landscape orientation, and everything looks fine.  Then when I go to print the document the destination paper size is set to "Suggested Paper: US Letter" instead of "Custom" as it used to be.  If I do print on US Letter paper then its properly lined up at the top left corner, but if I print on 4x6 it is all cut off.  I've tried scaling it to fit on my 4x6 size in the destination paper size menu, but that just shrinks the whole thing to fit in the center of the 4x6 in portrait orientation.
I am able to do this fine in pages '09, however I've already converted over 40 recipe cards to work with pages 5 and they don't export back to pages '09 properly.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to get this to work I would really appreciate them!

  • Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer ejects 3.8 in of a 4X6 paper and prints only 2.2 in of the image printing from Photoshop CS6, I'm sure I set everything correctly - what could I be missing?

Using Mac Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) & editing & printing from Photoshop CS 6.
Have new Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer and set it up yesterday.  First thing printed was a
document from MS Word (a letter) 8.5 X 11 plain paper - this came out OK.  Next I fire up
Photoshop and open a 4 X 6 inch image to do a test print.  I set it up in the print dialog as
4X6 paper, Canon's Pro Glossy paper profile, rear tray, standard print quality, Photoshop
manages the color.  I load the paper in the rear tray close the covers and hit print.  Now, when
it starts to print the printer moves about 3.8 inches of paper out of the printer and starts printing
on the remaining 2.2 inches then spits the paper out.  It does this in Photoshop (any image it doesn't
matter), and it does it printing from Capture NX.  I have been able to get it to print on the paper
correctly using Apple's Preview program but that that's not going to do me any good.  I was on
the phone with Canon tech support for about 2 hours and they were completely puzzled suggesting
I would have to use Canon's printing apps instead to print - that doesn't do me any good either.
I want to be able to print from Photoshop.  Any one every heard of this or experienced the same
    problem? Thanks JamesD!

Hello again. I recognize that a print is good if you like it and bad if you don't, despite what others might say, but I will at least share my experiences. They might help you or others who are following this thread.
My monitor is calibrated with Spyder 3. Gamma 2.2, 6500K, 83 cd/m^2. Contrast at 50%; brightness about 52%. My monitor lets me choose blackness level - it defaults to 50%.
When I print the test image I linked to above, using Lightroom, with no adjustments, my technical output is as follows:
Middle step wedge shows twelve disticnt steps. Whitest step is color of unprinted paper.
It varies from paper to paper, but I can discerne at least the 252 step and on some papers 253 - telling me I have good highlight detail.
On the black side I discerne 8 or 10, nothing lower. (That sounds like what you are reporting).
Artistically I am very happy how my print looks - nice red strawberries, good flesh tones, etc.
One my monitor, the on-screen image is almost identical to the print. I am surprised that you can see the 2 wedge step on screen at a very similar brightness.
I also checked out this B&W test image:
    http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/bw_printing/bw-test-image-2.html
You are probably aware of this since you are printing with Print Studio Pro, but others may not be.
You can print a series of test images:
find the one that best suits your taste, enter the calibration values in PSP, and save them as a custom setting. Then, each time you want to print recall the setting.
You can do a similar thing in Lightroom using the printer driver and User Templates.
There would be some one-time trial and error to that approach.
