Print with manual duplexing?

I have a HP Photosmart C6180 connected to my home network wirelessly. Under Windows, I have the option to perform a manual duplex whenever I print. What this does is it prints one side of all the pages, then a message pops up on the screen to flip the pages and reinsert them into the printer and press "ok". It's a little tedious, but it gets the job done and saves me plenty of paper.
However, I can't find if such an option exists for my Mac. The printer seems to be installed via Bonjour (it showed up under Default in Add Printer). The only option I see for duplex printing is asking me whether or not I have some sort of duplex printing accessory installed, which I don't have. Anyway I could get the manual duplex option for my Mac?

If you check your print dialog, you may have an entry called Paper Handling. This has a menu item called Pages to Print and this lets you choose Odd or Even only.
If you selected to print Odd Only first, then only pages 1,3,5,7,etc would be printed on the front side. You could then load the pages back into the printer, obviously with the blank side facing the correct orientation, and then select to print again, this time selecting Even Only.

  • HP Laserjet M1212NF USB no longer printing in manual duplex mode

    Hello All,
    I am currently having issues with my HP LaserJet M1212NF printer connected via USB.  First, basic system information:
    Windows 7 64-bit
    Now, some backstory:
    The printer was initially setup using Network installation.  Then, I moved and could no longer access the network, so I deleted it from the Windows Device and Printer area and reinstalled it as a USB perinter.  I installed all the updated drivers and Firmware updates.  The printer now CANNOT print in duplex mode.  I choose Manual Duplex in the printer settings AND when I print a multipage document.  The printer simply prints the document normally, with no duplex.  Please help.  I've googled the problem, but have come up empty handed.

    Hi Wilhendrickx,
    I understand you aren't able to print two sided.
    Thank you for your reply.
    I will be happy to help you with this.
    You can set the two sided option two different ways. Try both to see if it makes a difference.
    To set the two sided printing for all print jobs.
    Go to start, devices and printers, right click the printer, left click printer
    properties, click on the finishing tab and check Print on both sides, (manually) apply and OK.
    To set the two sided printing for 1 job.
    From the application go to file, print, preferences, click on the finishing tab and
    check Print on bot sides, (manually) apply and OK.
    Disable the bidirectional support to see if that will make a difference.
    Go to start, devices and printers, right click the printer, left click printer
    properties, click on the ports tab at the top, uncheck Enable bidirectional support.
    If it didn't work then go back in and check it again.
    I would download and run the Print and Scan Doctor since it might resolve the issue
    automatically.
    Find and Fix Common Printer Problems Using HP Diagnostic Tools for Windows.
    If that doesn't work then I would uninstall and reinstall the printer software.
    Uninstalling the Printer Software.
    Here is a URL to download and install the latest drivers again.

    Try the two sided printing now.
    Hope this helps.

  • The printer with automatic duplex A5

    I am looking for a monochrome laser printer A4, with automatic duplex and network.
    Additionally, the printer must be able to auto-duplex printing on A5.
    Monthly print up to 5,000 pages.

    Thanks.  It worked!  It sure seems like a complicated way to go about duplexing that takes only one step with every other source but Word, though, doesn't it?  Anyway, that's not your problem and you solved mine.  Much appreciated.

  • My iMac is networked to a brother printer with automatic duplexing capability.  It will double-side documents from all sources except from Word.  I can't find anywhere in Word to change the settings.  Any advice?

    My iMac is networked to a Brother Printer that is capable of duplex printing.  I can print duplexed documents from every source so far except Word.  Nothing in the pre-print dialogue boxes gives me the choice to double side.  In the same place that I am given the choice to double-side when printing from other sources, Word only offers 'collated'.  Any advice?

  • HP LASERJET P3005N NOT PRINTING WITH MANUAL SETTINGS

    We have a subnet for our PCs and Thin Clients and we have a subnet for our printers.  The subnet for our PCs and Thin Clients is setup for DHCP service while the subnet for our printers is setup for static addressing.  The HP Laserjet P3005n printer is able to operate effeciently in DHCP mode; it picks up an ip and I'm able to print to it, ping it, etc.  However, it doesn't communicate with the network when I manually configure an address to it; I'm not able to print to it, ping it, etc.  It was working find with the original settings (static ip address) on a Friday then the problem started when the office opened back up on that following Monday.  I've tried different cables, assigning the printer's address to a different printer, different ports, and even installed a JetDirect card into it and it still doesn't fix the issue.....PLEASE HELP!

    <Is this because i just upgraded to 10.5.6? </i>
    No, probably not. I have no problems printing to my 3015 from 10.5.6.
    Is apple going to do something about this?
    Doubtful since it's almost certainly not Apple's problem, per se. Make sure you have the latest printer update, HP Printer Update 1.1.1, which should appear in Software Update if you haven't installed it and will probably appear in the "Installed Updates" pane of the Software Update preference. And if course if it's a networked printer you'll want to ping it to make sure that your system is actually reaching the printer.
    If you continue to have problems, you'll probably want to take it up with your IT people or with HP. But you can keep an eye on this thread and see if suggestions to the OP would apply in your case as well.

  • Can only print with manual feed and NOT from the paper tray from websites

    When I try to print something from a website, I must manually feed the paper in the manual feed slot. It will not print from the tray. This problem does not happen when I print something from an email with no downloads or something from MSword or Excel. So, it's most likely a browser printer setting issue. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Probably related to printer preferences and how they relate to Firefox. If you did the complete reset all the printer setting that Firefox would saved would have been cleared and gone back to the default settings. Without familiarity with that specific printer ''(or even knowing which printer you are using)'' the best advice I can offer is to seek help from a support forum for that brand printer, or for you to reinstall the printer software to get back to the defaults.

    I just want to PRINT  Manual Duplex - Booklet - 2 page per sheet ....and it's not working. Actually it print pages, but just on one side.
    It continues to PRINT everything on ONE side ( so the printer PRINT all on SINGLE SIDE...there is no POPUP window to TELL you to MOVE printed pages into INPUT BIN, so to continue manula duplex printing)
    Sorry if my English is bad!
    in Windows XP, everything was fine....but in Win 7 Entreprise 32-bit, problem with MANUAL DUPLEX
     I try many drivers, because the WIN7 official driver is not having MANUAL DUPLEX. Non of them work
    Next thing I notices is  missing OPTION for MANUAL DUPLEX (in win7 official drivers)
    Start - device and printers - (right click on) HP LaserJet 1200 Series PCL 5 - Printer Properties - Device Settings
    Duplex Unit (for 2 - sided printing)....it say its INSTALLED (but I know that I dont have that). After Switching to NOT INSTALLED, the OPTION in driver for BOOKLET, simply disappear.

  • Manual duplex printing doesn't work for LaserJet 100 color MFP M175a

    Hi !
    OS Windows 8.1. Printer LaserJet 100 color MFP M175a. Driver version 61.108.8.10073 date 2011 Apr 13th
    1. After switching on checkbox "Print on Both Sides (Manually)" on "Finishing" tab of Print Properties Dialog and
    start printing, dialog with instruction how to turn paper appears. Then printer must print odd pages, stop for
    turning paper and then continue printing of even pages on the back side of paper sheets. But my device prints
    all pages sequentually in order 1,2,3,... without any breaks. What is it- my mistake or possible bug in driver ?
    2. Windows API function DeviceCapabilities with fwCapability=DC_DUPLEX for this printer returns 0 (duplex printing
    impossible). This value for any other HP printer, even without automatic duplexer, always equel to 1.

  • Manual Duplexing use on a HP Laserjet P1102w printer-How is it done?

    This is a first using a manual duplex option on a printer and I have been unable to print on both sides of an HP Laserjet P1102w printer, despite doing the following:
    Went to Print Setup
    Under Finish: chose Print on Both Sides Manually
    Left edge binding
    and although it prints....I can't seem to get the 'booklet' to print correctly on the other side; Not even sure how to correctly get the paper in so it doesn't double print on the same page.
    : I've tried to print first reverse pages,
    then even pages in reverse,
    but still unable to get the pages in order to fold and create a booklet or print multiple pages on both sides...has anyone had experience with this on what is the best way to try and print documents in booklet form or just both pages to save paper?
    Is there a driver or support that will help with this?
    No visual screen pops up on the monitor to help with placing the papers so it will print correctly and I have already tried with just a 6 page booklet and failed there.
    I've tried googling the results, checked the HP website for any information and either have missed the support information to do this or assume there is none.
    Any insight would be appreciated.

  • HP Laserjet 1300 Manual Double Sided Printing with Windows 7

    I just purchased a new laptop with windows 7, love the interface but have some hiccups here and there.  And the one that is the biggest pain is printing.  I have a HP Laserjet 1300 connected via a linksys print server.  Single sided printing works just fine, but I used to be able to (and still can from my work laptop running XP and from my wifes Laptop running Vista Home) print double sided manually.  But now even though it says duplex, it will not work and I think the Windows Driver believes that it is a duplexer attached to the printer verses a manual feature.  Any ideas on how to get my manual double sided printing back?

    Nice one...
    I found you can also modify the "Manual Duplex Help" section to provide instructions to the user while duplex printing :
    The following prn_grp displays pictures similar to the Laserjet 1300 and has the right procedure (take the printed pages and place them in the same orientation in the tray) :
    <prn_grp models="HP LaserJet 1300;HP LASERJET 1300N;c5c5f890996e5fc5d7ffd96f8c759f2d ;555a2593970cf8b77ec5e1c722373e36 ;065e3643626aa153eb624120e21031cc ;5541b14acbc6bb39fefc0967181142e0 ;e6885ab28dbc6e127ae4963acf4d8ccc ;8f6b80f605bb593212acd699c0516d06 ;1d9e0f01c72b2d0001e58751826b42ac ;f77381023eb218bd6c75fbb5cd55337e ;8da5efe243e316c3fbd7ccd09d330f48 ;60caa8832f86a2502a3e4f31c6aa82f5 ;d1eb75d092f98ee058366d6d32b1c5d1 ;acb248ba464fba4feeac598ee070e4da;25b289c5a1af52c4c30c70e60d6a5486;

    </fname>
    </prn_grp>
    More importantly, I was also able to modify the hpcu1306.xml file to enable full 1200 dpi support, by adding the following prn_grp at the end of the "Print Quality" section (after the hp LaserJet 9040 prn_grp and before the closing "</feature>")
    <prn_grp models="HP LaserJet 1300;HP LASERJET 1300N;">

    <option name="PQGroup_4"/>
    <option name="PQGroup_5"/>
    </fname>
    </prn_grp>
    NB : PQGroup_2 is for 600 dpi, PQGroup_4 is for FastRes 1200 dpi (fast) and PQGroup_5 is for ProRes 1200 dpi (finer, slower, more memory used).

  • Duplex printing with HP Color Laserjet 4650dn

    Dear all,
    I wanted to print the handouts of a Powerpoint presentation (Office for Mac 2008, v12.2.5), but could not get a double-sided copy. The printer (HP CLJ 4650 dn) is installed with the OS X 10.6.4 embedded drivers etc. as HP CLJ 4650. Works fine otherwise.
    The settings for the printer in System Preferences/Print Fax/General indicate that I apparently have a driver version 16.4. By accessing the Printer Webpage I have set the duplex option ON and checked all the other options for there settings. As far as I know it seems correct.
    I have ticked the box Duplex Unit in System Preferences/Print Fax/Driver.
    However, when I want to print the slides/handouts and open the print window I can only see Manual Duplex as an option in the drop-down menu Copies & Pages. No straight forward Duplex Printing or Automatic Duplex Printing option whatsoever of which the printer is capable.
    No problem with the two remaining MS Windows Vista PC's, which frustrates me.
    Have I missed something? Or done something wrong/different?
    If anyone has a suggestion I would be grateful.
    Kind regards,
    John Keasberry

    Have you taken a look to the configuration of the Printer? I have a HP 2340 with duplex and to configure it I have to do the following:
    On the Preferences Pane, click on Printing and Fax or open the Printer configuration Utility. In any case, click on the printer and choose "Configuration of the printer" (in the Printer utility this is in the pritner menu). Then you will see information of the printer... May be there you have an option to activate the duplex... In may case there is a checkbox.
    But may be you have done this...
    Bests,
    Álvaro

  • Manual duplex times out on wireless connectivity only - D5560 printer

    The printer is set for manual duplex. I use a Dell Insiron laptop (OSW7) with a wireless connection to Netgear Wireless-N 3000 Router. IP address is 192.168.1.5:3910 for the wireless printer.
    The pages print on the one side and then simply stop printing on the last page just before the printer should be releasing it.
    If I leave everything alone, approx 15 seconds later the page gets released and the print cancels.
    If I manually tug the final page out of the printer and manually insert for the second side the page has a small area at the end unfinished. The first page of the second side may have this data printed on it.
    I've reinstalled the software and all hardware has driver updates etc.
    My PC is cable connected to the router and I've never had this happen. It is only on the wireless connection for the laptop.
    Is there a solution?

    Does the printer recover by power-cycling your switch or unplugging the LAN cable to the printer?

  • HP Pro 200 M276nw Color Printer Duplex printing with Mac OSX Yosemite 10.10

    So, I have been trying to use the duplex printing feature with my Mac. However, I havne't been able to figure it out. I see the option for manual duplex printing, but the actual duplex printing feature is not working.
    Any advice?

    Hi @joshcooley09 ,
    I see that you are experiencing issues duplexing from Yosemite. I will certainly do my best to help you.
    Did you download and install the latest software for Yosemite for the printer?
    HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color M276 Full Feature Software and Drivers.
    Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
    Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen it should show the printer's name. (Laserjet M276)
    If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
    Now try and print two sided.
    On the File menu, click the Print option.
    Open the Finishing menu, and click the Manual Duplex tab or open the Manual Duplex menu.
    Click the Manual Duplex box and select a binding option.
    Click the Print button. Follow the instructions in the pop-up window that appears on the computer screen before replacing the output stack in Tray 1 for printing the second half.
    If the issue persists, connect the printer to the Mac by a USB cable and test the printer. Just to rule out a network issue, if the printer is networked.
    How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)

  • PAPER JAMMED DURING MANUAL DUPLEX PRINTING

    I had a paper jam, now, i only needed to print particular pages (booklet format here) but MS word crashes whenever i attempt to do so.  i only need to print the last half of the booklet, please help.
    Thanks!

    Hi @DYSSE
    I know what I am about to ask may sounds strange, but how many pages is your file? Please take a look at the following post I found in the Microsoft Community Forums;
    All of the responses are bogus, I tried them all! I HAVE FOUND THE ANSWER! For some stupid reason MS WORD 2010 does not like an ODD NUMBER OF PAGES WHEN PRINTING MANUAL DUPLEX BOOK FOLD DOCUMENTS.
    I tried all of the solutions and one day it worked, my document printed!!! I usually only have a 3 page Sunday School Teaching document, front page, and 2 inside pages of a single sheet of paper. I have to print it to a PDF document first to get it to print book fold. This day it was unusally long at 4 pages and it PRINTED WITH NO PROBLEM! I thought a recent MS Update had done the trick. But the next week I again had the printing problem! So I went back to the previous week's document and it printed fine again. Only difference was the number of pages from one week to the next. So I went some of my older documents that had 3 pages, inserted a few carriage returns to make my document 4 pages long and Voila! It works. I thought it would work the same way with 5 pages (bad), 6 pages (good), etc...but that wasn't it. You have to make your document a multiple of 4 pages (booklet page count). So add some carriage returns to your document to make it a multiple of 4, 8, 12,16, 20, etc!
    Work around - make your document a multiple of 4 book folded pages.
