Print with no color management CS4 + Snow Leopard broken

I have seen comments in this forum about problems with printing with CS4, but wasn't sure that they were going to apply to me. They do, big time.
I print to an Epson 9800, I convert the image to the Epson profile for that paper, and then print using no color management. With CS4 + Mac OS 10.6 the colors are completely off, and the results unusable, and I could not resolve it by printing from CS3 instead. I finally ended up installing 10.5 on a new partition, deactivating CS3 on the 10.6 partition and installing on the 10.5 partition (because Adobe's licensing treats the same program running on the same computer with different boot partitions as two different "installations"!), and then actually going back one generation in the drivers for the printer. Basically this resurrects my computer as it was in 2007, and I can now print flawlessly. I'm not sure whether the latest printer drivers introduce problems or not, and got tired printing test images.
Of course, this means that I edit the photo in 10.6 + CS4, then reboot to 10.5, print in CS3, then reboot back into 10.6. And of course I can't use CS4 while printing from CS3. Very frustrating.
My questions are: (1) is there an Adobe document that discusses this problem, (2) are Adobe aware of this problem, and (3) are there any other work-arounds that people know of other than reverting to CS3 + OS 10.5?

Thanks Chris,
I didn't try older Epson drivers + 10.6. I wasn't quite sure if I was getting the exact same colors with the newest Epson drivers + 10.5, so I reverted to the previous version drivers + 10.5 and am able to print perfectly with that.
I must say that Adobe's licensing really gets in the way when there are problems like this. I only updated to 10.6 (yes, perhaps a little prematurely) after reading Adobe's reports on compatibility and searching these forums for any news of problems. But now that I have updated to 10.6, I really don't want to go back to 10.5 permanently. And, as I said, you can't run the same version of Photoshop on the same computer on two different boot systems, without using up the two licenses. This is very frustrating, and violates my understanding of the license that Adobe gives its users: the ability to run the software on either of 2 computers, as long as you don't run on both at the same time.
I hope you figure this out, let us know as soon as you can.

  • Print Setup says use Adobe Color Printer with No Color Management even though I have my .icc printer profile selected

I have a ColorMunki Photo and a Canon Pixma Pro 100 that I have been using on my Mac with Photoshop CC.  No issues.  I must have changed something because now when I go to print, a popup says "Please use Adobe Color Printer Utility if you need to print with No Color Management".  It is telling me that my I am trying to print without color management and this method of printing isn't supported.  So, I reprofiled my monitor and printer and have brand new .icc profiles and it is still doing the same thing.  Can someone tell me the exact things that need to be changed in Photoshop in order to use my .icc profile for color managed printing?  I have no idea what I have changed.  If I change to a different profile that message doesn't pop up.  My document profile says that it is the same as the printer profile I am trying to print from.  Does the document profile need to be set to my monitor .icc profile or the printer .icc profile that I want to print from?  Any help would be appreciated!  It is driving me crazy!

  • How to print with NO COLOR MANAGEMENT in Photoshop CS6

    Hi,
I have been trying to print a target from i1Profiler so I can read it with my i1Pro and create a printer profile, but no matter what I do, there is no way to get photoshop from supplying a profile while printing. I tried to select Printer handles color and then put the printer driver in COLOR MANAGEMENT OFF (seemed to me this would disable both the printer managing color and photosbop managing color). Tried printing this way ( and many other ways) but NO SOLUTION --- the prints are EXTREMELY different from the on-screen view (which is in a properly profiled Apple monitor) and they actually look like the ones with a profile chosen.
I also tried the utility Adobe Color Printer Utility and same results!!
I am using an EPSON Stylus Pro 7900 that I just purchased.
    Please help

The key here is to actually actually go ahead and print the target from i1Profiler to your printer...in the Test Chart panel, create the test chart and click on Print instead of Save As. As long as you have the correct page size set in the Page Setup, you should get an accurate printer target to read. Depending on how many patches you have set, it may take a few pages but they will be properly formated for reading with the i1Pro...

  • Broken color management in Snow Leopard?

    Hi,
I recently upgraded Leopard to Snow Leopard on my Mac Pro and I'm having trouble with my color profiles. I used an X-Rite i1 to calibrate my monitor (a Dell 30" 3007WFPHC) on Leopard and since Snow Leopard the colors are different. I have another computer connected to the same monitor (a 2nd generation MacBook Pro) which uses the exact same color profile and the colors are different between the two computers!
I tried re-calibrating my monitor several times and I never managed to get Snow Leopard to display colors the way it used to on Leopard (and every time, copying the profile between my two computers gives me different results.)
FWIW, my old profiles and the new profiles I've created were all using a gamma of 2.2, even on Leopard.
Is this a known issue and if so, is there a known workaround? The only "weird" thing about my setup is that I've upgraded the OS instead of doing a clean install.

    Hello,
Just wanted to stop by and say I'm going through a similar issue:
I've calibrated my screen using an X-Rite i1 Display 2. I'm on a MacBook, circa early 2007 white model -- and though my photo colors look right and exact, system-wide menu and window selection overlays and some icons have a slight magenta tint. I'm using ColorMatch 3.6.2
    Samples:
    http://jimlafferty.com/magenta01.jpg
    http://jimlafferty.com/magenta02.jpg
Check out the difference between the Transmit logo on Panic's site and the one in my dock:
    http://jimlafferty.com/magenta03.jpg
When this has happened in the past, it was a matter of ensuring the calibration white point was set to "device native" -- and I ensured that it was. I've run the calibration twice, rebooted, ran it a third time. Still no luck.
Curious to find the solution. I have emailed X-Rite support, posted a comment on their blog -- a few days and no response.

  • How to print with "no color management" in CS6

I have downloaded the "no color management option" to print off a patch for an ICC profile - http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/no-color-management-option-missing.html
However, I keep getting an error message when trying to print from it - saying "error occured while setting color management" and then the color managment has a line through it when I go to the "Print" option.  I am using an epson 3800 and have reinstalled the drivers and it is still the same.
    Any ideas?

  • Can't print with HP PSC 1315 on Snow Leopard

    Hey guys,
About 2 weeks ago I installed Snow Leopard on my iMac, not using my HP-printer yet.
So now I decided to connect my printer again, and just test-print something, noticing it doesn't work.
I already knew that SL automaticaly downloads the latest drivers and things like that, so I just turned my printer on. And indeed, SL did download someting called Update HP-printerfiles. So I was pretty glad SL did that, but it didn't worked... I've already googled it, getting some helpful result directing to the HP-site, where I found the driver-package for my printer, I installed them, but it still doesn't work at all! I'm kinda out of ideas now, so if anyone has another good suggestion I'd like to hear it.
I'm running as mentioned Snow Leopard 10.6.2.

Alright, I've fixed this. I have absolutly no clue why both HP and Apple don't have any working drivers, (At least not for me) but after some Googling I found this:
    http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/hpijs# MacOS_X_10.3.x_.28Panther.29_-_Mac_OS_X_10.6.x_.28SnowLeopard.29
After opened this link, scroll down to the part that says HPIJS for Mac, then just download and install Ghostscript, Foomatic-RIP and finally hpijs-3.9.2. After that it should work. It did for me!

  • Photoshop cs4-snow leopard-automatically save files with same name.

Does anyone know how to automatically update a file in another folder that has the same name as the current file? (photoshop cs4-snow leopard)

Does this apply to all files you work on?
How are the parallel files being defined – by location relative to the edited ones, filename, foldername, …?
Will an index of the parallel files have to be written into the files’ metadata?
And what’s behind this, why do you need multiple instances of the saved file, if I may ask?

  • Dark Prints with Photoshop CS3 and CS4 but not Lightroom

Hi, To start,I have calibrated my dell monitor with eye-one pro as well as my epson 7800. i am running vista 64 bit on my PC...
When i use photoshop (CS3 or CS4) the images look fine on the screen and come out really dark on the printer. When i use lightroom, the images look fine on the screen and fine on the printer.
Any guidance on how to "fix" photoshop would be appreciated. By the way, in photoshop print dialogue, i color manage the document, photoshop manages the color, the printer profile is set to the I-1 custom printer profile, rendering is perceptual, and black point compensation is checked.
    Thanks,
    Joe

I manage color and service bureau printing at the college I work for, and we've been fighting the upgrade to CS4 for some time. Here's what we have so far.
Apple dual G5 machine with 10.5.8
    Adobe PS CS3
    Adobe PS CS4
3 x Epson 4800 Pro printers using an IP connection and using Driver version #6.11
We manage color with custom created profiles in eyeOne with eyeOne pro hardware.
When moving to CS4 for printing prints have gond dark and the color has taken an odd shift.
When printing with CS3, we get consistent color and density
All things being equal in the print settings for each version of PS.
I have heard that CS4 addresses the printing system differently (using an updated printing api from Apple) is this true?
When running prints from within another app (any app really) that prints directly through the OS, we get similar results as CS4.
The best explaination that we've been able to get is that the (epson) print driver is operating on the older api calls, and that when the OS (or CS4) is operating on the newer calls, the color and density issues arise.
    Can anyone verify this?

  • Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will download easily and run with mac 10.5.8 Snow Leopard?

I posted a question which was: Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will work with Mac 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.  Then this window popped up saying mark this discussion with as a question and this window.  I have no idea how this works. It already is a question and if I need to emphasize that, how does this window that looks like a Word editing window, help me do that?Downloading, Installing, Setting Up

You asked the question in the title area instead of the area where the body of your posting is intended to be.  No fault of yours - they need to make the form clearer.
Check the system requirements for the various versions of Photoshop Elements and see which suits your system.  Adobe only sells the most recent versions of their software, so if you need an older version you will need to find a vendor for it.

  • I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard and foolishly upgraded to Yosemite.  Is it possible to go back in time with Time Machine and reinstall Snow Leopard.  Then upgrade to Lion or Mavericks?  Any other ideas on how I can exit Yosemite?

I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard and foolishly upgraded to Yosemite. Now have numerous problems.  Is it possible to go back in time with Time Machine and reinstall Snow Leopard?  Then upgrade to Lion or Mavericks?  Any other ideas on how I can exit Yosemite?

Once you get yourself back to Snow Leopard, if you still want to upgrade somewhat, I would suggest the following:
    1. Get an external hard drive that you can use for experiments with new OS versions. You could partition it into 2 or 3 partitions. You could then clone your existing Snow Leopard system to one partition using Carbon Copy Cloner (well worth $40) or SuperDuper ($25).
    2. Buy OS X Mountain Lion for $20, through the Apple online store (I don't think it's available through the App Store). Apple has decided to make it very difficult for anyone to get Mavericks unless they have already downloaded it.
You will receive two e-mails from Apple, one containing a PDF with a redemption code, and one with the password you will need to unlock the PDF. Using the code, you will download Mountain Lion from the App Store, where it will appear among your Purchased items.
After ML finishes downloading, its installer app will launch itself. When you see this launch screen, QUIT the install app immediately! Go to your applications folder, find the Install OS X Mountain Lion app, and copy it to a safe location outside of your Applications folder. Keeping one or more copies will allow you to reinstall without unnecessary aggravation if you later need or want to do that. At this point, you can re-launch the Installer in the Applications folder and let it run. You can install it on a clean partition on your external HD, or you can allow it to upgrade the Snow Leopard clone you created on your external drive, or you can do both. This should allow you to test how everything works for as long as you like.
    3. If you left yourself a free partition on your test drive, try a clean install of Yosemite and set everything up from scratch (do not migrate anything). This will allow you to see whether your problems with it were related to something in your Snow Leopard system.

  • I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Want to upgrade to Lion to take advantage of icloud. Is there anything I can do without getting a new MacPro?

I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Would like to upgrade to Lion but it requires a minimum of Intel Core 2 Duo. Can I get what I need or do I have to buy new MacBok Pro?

I also have a core duo MBP with Snow Leopard and it runs perfectly.  There are very few things it cannot do as compared to the faster, newer MBPs, but that is attributable to the CPU, not the OS.  There are some who view Lion as downgrade rather than as an improvement.  If there are important applications that reqire a fast CPU or Lion features that you find essential, by all means get a new MBP.
I have an aphorism:  Obsolescence is more often a perception rather than a reality.  Besides the silver keys look much classier than the black ones.
    Ciao.

  • Error Message:Can't print illustration. Color Management systems inconsistent.

I am getting this error message, "Can't print illustration. Color management systems are inconsistent." I just upgraded to CS5(from CS2) on a Dell Studio using an Epson WorkForce 1100 or an Epson Sylus NX400. I am a rank amateur in AI & have no idea how to fix this. I do not seem to have the option to turn off color management in either of my printers to default to AI. All I am trying to print are some labels using regular fonts and a few smoke brushes for color. These are not wildly colorful or complicated. I KNOW I should be using a Mac but I do not have one...sigh...
    Thanks for ANY help.
    Marion.

not sure I understand the core problem...but what happens if you Save As "Adobe PDF" and Convert to your Print Space there in Output (then print from Acrobat or place in InDesign, heck maybe even open the .pdf in Ai and try again):

Will Lion open Appleworks documents with Pages or Numbers like Snow Leopard does? Or do I have to convert all my Appleworks files before installing Lion?

Functionality of Pages and Numbers has little to do with whether it's runnong on Snow Leopard or Lion.  Either way, if they open an AppleWorks document in SL, they'll open it in Lion.  Of course, you have to understand that certain file types - particularly, AppleWorks databases - cannot be opened with anything other than AppleWorks, so you'll need to convert them with AppleWorks before upgrading to Lion.
