Do you pay for cloud services??

No iCloud's services are free (5 GB storage for your data. Purchased music, movies, apps, books, TV shows and your Photo Stream don’t count against your free storage). If you need more storage capacity you have to pay for the additional space.

  • SSL and custom domain configuration for cloud service

    Hi,
I am doing custom domain mapping and SSL configuration for a cloud service web role. Another important aspect is Cloud service web role uses ADFS in between for authentication.
I have custom domain mapped, SSL uploaded on cloud services Certificates
tab in management portal, certificate .pfx and chaining certs .CER are added as below -
    <Certificate name="UATCert" thumbprint="A" thumbprintAlgorithm="sha1" />
    <Certificate name="Certificate1" thumbprint="B" thumbprintAlgorithm="sha1" />
    <Certificate name="Certificate2" thumbprint="C" thumbprintAlgorithm="sha1" />
I see these certificates getting added properly to Azure cloud service web role instance VM.
The problem is, when I access the custom domain,
https://mysite.com/default.aspx in the browser ultimately after ADFS login I see
https://cloudservice.cloudapp.net/default.aspx. My understanding is, cloudapp.net should not be seen in the browser to the client. Also I keep getting error of certificates stating "There is
a problem with this website’s security certificate" when browser shows cloudapp.net url.
How can I avoid display of cloudapp.net in browser and show only custom domain Url. Also how can I avoid this certificate error ?
    Thoughts?
    http://sanganakauthority.blogspot.com/

    Hi kunal,
Based what you described, I understand that you want to use the custom domain for cloud service web role and apply azure active directory authentication to the web role application.
    >>>The problem is, when I access the custom domain,
https://mysite.com/default.aspx in the browser ultimately after ADFS login I see
    https://cloudservice.cloudapp.net/default.aspx.
As for above issue, I think you should make sure you have registered the web application in azure AD both "SIGN-ON URL" and "Reply URL" are
     https://mysite.com/default.aspx
    >>>Also I keep getting error of certificates stating "There is a problem with this website’s security certificate" when browser shows cloudapp.net url.
Try to upload a valid certificate (provided by CA) to cloud service for your custom domain.

  • How to get the Memory Utilization Data for Cloud Service

    Hi,
We are planning to monitor the Performance of Cloud Services hosted onto Azure through VisualStudioOnline [TFS]. However, I couldn't find any performance metric for Memory utilization on individual Cloud Service.
So please help how can we monitor Memory utilization on individual Cloud Service hosted through VSO.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Subhash Konduru
Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help.

If you are using the VSO then you can take a look at azure application insights which is a service hosted on azure which will help you to detect issues, solve problems and continuously improve your web applications.

  • UCCX printable reports for Contact Service Queues displaying old data

    Hello,
Does anyone know how to remove old data from the printable reports? I am trying to view all users listed under specific CSQs and it returns old data of users that are no longer in our system.
    -Ben

    Walter,
Thanks for the suggestions. We are running version 8.5.1.11002-22. I strictly deal with the UCCX side of things and spoke with the CUCM admin. He advised that the extension is still active because we are forwarding all of the calls for now. Once he removes it I am sure that the name will disappear from the printable reports. If it does not disappear, you will see me posting again.
    Thanks Walter.

  • Azure Authentication for Cloud Services

I updated Visual Studio to Web Tools 2013.1 and the "Enable Azure Authentication" disappeared. I need to secure this application, the Azure AD and domain are done, but I can't seem to find how to do it in Visual Studio anymore. I keep getting the
    message:
The current installed Azure Authentication Tools is not compatible with the verion of Web Developer Tools you recently updated; therefore , the Azure Authentication related command and publish support will be unavailable.

  • Azure Cloud Service Scaling - do I have to configure a Load Balancer?

I'm a little bit confused by how scaling in Azure works. I'm using a Cloud Service and have 2 web roles running a PHP application. I can RDP on both machines and both applications run great on each machine. Also I don't have any problems calling the staging
    URL.
But I can't figure out if I configure scaling so that 2 machines run always, if I have to configure a load balancer somehow. Or is this already done for me?
In Azure VM's I had to create a load-balanced set endpoint for an endpoint, but what about cloud services?
And how is this done in the XML configuration file for my service? What if I don't do it?

    Hi,
Scaling is affected by core usage. Larger role instances or Virtual Machines use more cores. You can only scale an application within the limit of cores for your subscription. For example, if your subscription has a limit of twenty cores
and you run an application with two medium sized Virtual Machines (a total of four cores), you can only scale up other cloud service deployments in your subscription by sixteen cores. All Virtual Machines in an availability set that are used in scaling an
application must be the same size.
Windows Azure supports load balance for cloud services and standard websites, we just need to set instance count to more than 1 to enable load balance. For virtual machines, it needs to set up manually.
Please refer this link for Load Balance a Virtual Machine:
    http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/manage/windows/common-tasks/how-to-load-balance-virtual-machines/
     for more information.
Auto scale lets you set scaling limits and scheduling goals to ensure you are always getting optimal performance
Please refer this link for Scaling on Cloud Services:
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/cloud-services/
Also, Please refer this link for Scaling an Application :
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/cloud-services-how-to-scale/
XML configuration : Azure (Load-balanced) Endpoints can only be used for TCP/UDP based services. please check
    https://techlib.barracuda.com/display/BNGv54/How+to+Configure+a+High+Availability+Cluster+in+Azure/printable for the detailed information
    Hope this helps.

  • How to enable diagnostics in cloud services and virtual machine

    Hi All,
I need to enable diagnostics  for cloud services and virtual machine in our
cloud environment. I referred the below link.
    https://convective.wordpress.com/2014/06/27/using-azure-monitoring-services-api-with-azure-cloud-services/
Installed azure SDK 2.5 and cloud services instance is not displayed for cloud services in Visual studio 2013. Please provide the steps to enable at run time.
    1) How to enable this diagnostics at run time.
    2) How to enable event logs for cloud and Virtual machine
    3) How to get the event log data's from REST API.
    Please help to resolve this.
    Thanks.

  • Azure cloud services vs Dedicated servers

I have been searching for an article about advantages/disadvantages about using cloud services (Azure in this case) or a dedicated server but have not found anything concrete. What I see is that there are dedicated servers with much more capacity (8MB RAM,
2 x 2 TB HD´s, 4-core CPU, for example) than Azure VM´s at a much lower price and at the same time I see that there is an increase in cloud services usage. What other aspects should I consider besides price to decide to move to the cloud (Azure VM´s in this
case) instead of a dedicated server?
    Best regards, JORGE MALDONADO

    Hi,
In Azure, you can create multiple VMs in a cloud service and the VMs in the same cloud service share the same public IP address. If you want to access
the VM from external, you need to create endpoints and open the related ports in firewall. You can also manage incoming traffic to the public port by configuring rules for the network access control list (ACL) of the endpoint to ensure
    safety.
Azure charges an horly price that is based on the VM's size and OS, and the prices include Windows Server licensing fee. If you don't want to use
a VM, you can shut it down to the stopped (deallocated) status and you won't be charged for it.
In addition, you can resizing the VM to a larger/smaller one as your need. (Note: the data on the temporary driver would be lost after resizing)
Furthermore, for Cloud Services, when you deploy two or more role instances in different fault and upgrade domains, your Internet facing roles will
have external connectivity at least 99.95% of the time. For all Internet facing Virtual Machines that have two or more instances deployed in the same Availability Set, you will have external connectivity at least 99.95% of the time.

  • Cloud service web role did not get request

    Hi Team,
we have an application host in web role in a cloud service,
sometimes it keeps loading when clicking a button in GUI and got no response till our GUI timeout (30 minutes)
we use Fiddler to trace the http request and also check IIS logs and found that sometimes the web role didn't get a request,  sometimes the IIS
got the request and finished to processe the request but didn't return result to GUI.
it seems the message lost during interaction between UI and web role.
note that this problems comes out just recently.
is there some known issues related with this kind of problems.
    thanks in advance.

    hi Baker,
Firstly, I need confirm what's meaning is GUI from your description ? The GUI is your cloud service project UI? Or your UI in your client?
Secondly, base on my experience, we usually could occur timeout error because of the azure load balancer and the long time request.
For this error, I recommend you refer to those thread:

  • How to enabe antimal ware services through powershelll has a startup task in cloud service

    Hi
I was going through documentation for enabling antimalware service for cloud services. here is the link
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn771718.aspx.
When i execute the below power shell in my local machine, it work perfectly.
    [System.Xml.XmlDocument] $XmlConfig = New-Object System.Xml.XmlDocument
    $XmlConfig.load('..\Antimalware.xml')
    Set-AzureServiceAntimalwareExtension -ServiceName TestingPowerShell -AntimalwareConfiguration $XmlConfig
When i move this code to Cloud Services project and invoke above PowerShell script has a start up task for Cloud Services, i.e. through batch command, Antimalware service is not enabled.
When i remote desktop to cloud service, I'm surprised to see Azure tool SDK is not installed. I found log, where it says .NET framework 2.0 is required when running powershell 2.0, but when i check cloud service's powershell version is already 4.0. I could
not understand how to invoke this anti-malware service has start-up task.

I tried to copy both my batch file, power shell script along with xml config file into our Cloud Services VM using remote desktop. I ran cmd, here is the error message

  • Add Operational Insights to Cloud Service during publish

    Hello,
I have several Azure Services that I am already utilizing Application Insights on. What I would like to do is have Operational Insights added during the standard "Publish to Windows Azure" that I use from Visual Studio thereby removing the need
to manually remote into the machine and then install Microsoft Monitoring Agent and configuring my account. Can you point me to some resources demonstrating or explaining how to accomplish this?
    A couple of notes:
My group has dozens of services and workers so manual install/configure is not an option for us.
All of our machines currently also have Application Insights setup and running so MMA already has a tab for Application Insights that displays if you open MMA however, there is no tab available in MMA for Operational Insights. The only way that I can add
this tab is to uninstall and then re-install using the installer found on the Operational Insights site however, doing so removes Application Insights.
    Thanks!

We are working on a VM Extension to push the agent into IaaS VMs from Azure Portal as a first class experience.
The community has also come up with a DSC resource already anyway!
    http://www.powershellmagazine.com/2014/11/26/dsc-resource-module-for-microsoft-monitoring-agent-install-and-configuration-for-azure-operational-insights/
For Cloud Services, we don't need/use the agent but support them already by pulling their logs from WAD - if the roles are configured to write to WAD (the usual way) we'll pick Windows Events and IIS logs (at the moment) - more data sources ideas pls see
this category on the feedback forum
    http://feedback.azure.com/forums/267889-azure-operational-insights/category/88086-log-management-and-log-collection-policy
We think a lot of the other scenarios/IP's don't make sense for PaaS:
    - System Updates: since PaaS roles are auto-updated
    - AntiMalware: we are investigating how to support Anti Malware scenario using logs - read the comment from Richard on this thread for queries using Windows Events you can do today for that scenario
    http://feedback.azure.com/forums/267889-azure-operational-insights/suggestions/6519202-support-other-antivirus-products-in-malware-assess#comments
    - Capacity is currently only focused on HyperV (private cloud) but we'll be able to support 'performance' type information thru WAD again
http://feedback.azure.com/forums/267889-azure-operational-insights/suggestions/6662146-open-up-the-capacity-management-pack-for-other-sys so no agent needed either...
    - SQL Assessment: you don't install SQL in Cloud Services roles; you do in IaaS VMs.
    and so on...
The agent for AppInsights and OpInsights at the moment are not compatible - see this
http://feedback.azure.com/forums/267889-azure-operational-insights/suggestions/6660334-it-s-good-if-we-have-single-mma-file-for-appinsigh but again, you use Appinsights agent in your Web Roles, and you use OpInsights agent in your VMs, and for the
web roles you get the info into OpInsights from WAD. that is the most common use case.
