Printed Index

At this time printed material is my immediate goal and web
help is second. I have tried to create a detailed index but
although printed is my first consideration, in the TOC I have
linked books to topics, typically an overview of the topic.
Although this works great for the on-line version it presents a
difficulty in the printed version. I end up with something like
this in the TOC:
Book
Linked Topic To Book (Topic1)
Topic2 Under Book
Topic3 Under Book
What I would like to see is this:
Book
Topic1 Under Book
Topic2 Under Book
Topic3 Under Book
I can of course change the online TOC to meet my objective
but I would like to see if there is a dual option to achieve both
without making changes.

I have had similar problems with books linked to topics. Have
you tried fixing this in the Generate Printed Doc wizard? The
Content page allows you to make a separate print doc TOC, using the
online TOC as a starting point. Changes to the print doc TOC are
saved in the Printed Doc layout, not the TOC tab.
One gimmick on that page is a check box for Maintain HTML
Levels. If all your topic titles have the same HTML style, this
will iron out the indent differences - but it might do so by
un-indenting everything! ;)
Bottom line - do some experimenting with the Generate wizard.

Tutorial: Print index cards without removing paper from tray for Officejet Pro 8000.

The HP Officejet Pro 8000 and Officejet Pro 8000 wireless do not have a slot for inserting index cards and envelopes.
If you are wanting to print index cards without removing the paper from the tray, follow these steps.
The steps below are for 3 x 5 index cards.
1.) Open Microsoft Word
2.) Go to the Insert tab and insert a rectangle shape
3.) Draw a rectangle of any size
4.) Right click on the rectangle and select "Format Autoshape..."
5.) Under the Size tab, enter 5" for the height and 3" for the width (make sure "Absolute" is selected)
6.) Under the Layout tab, select "Center" for the horizontal alignment
7.) Click OK
8.) Use the keyboard up arrow key to move the rectangle to the top of the page. Make sure the top edge of the rectangle touches the top edge of the document.
9.) Print this document on plain 8.5" x 11" paper
10.) When you want to print an index card, place this 8.5x11 document in the paper tray printed side face up. Then place an index card over the rectangle and align with the border of the rectangle. After you print the index card, remove the 8.5x11 paper for the next time you need to print an index card.
Note 1: This are USA instructions. If you live in the UK or other countries you may have different paper size standards.

I can't tell you how much I HATE this printer. I will never buy an HP product again. BROTHERS printers are simply and easy to use.

Print index cards on P1102w

I have an HP P1102w LaserJet printer, which is terrifically fast, and I really like it. I want to print index cards (3x5) on it, though, and it won't cooperate. I'm using Microsoft Word 2003 and Windows 7. I can print cards in portrait mode, but not landscape mode. I had a great deat of difficulty with it a few months ago, but found a solution somewhere on line; now I need to do it again and I can't remember the solution. All looks fine in Print Preview, but while the cards go through, they come out blank if I try to print in landscape.

Looks like no one is interested in helping me, but I did have some success, so I'll share it with you.
For printing 3x5 cards on your P1102w, go to printer settings, then General/Preferences and put in 5 tall, 3 wide. Then when you want to go back to regular printing, you'll have to change it again. Not exactly high-tech, but it works.

How to group or print index of Event Key Photos?

I am making some backup dvds of my library for off site storage. I would like to make an index print of the event key photos but can not figure out how to group them. Can you make a smart album (clearly iphoto has them tagged in some way)? Is there just an option for printing them that I can't find? There must be a more elegant solution than opening each event and copying the key photo to an album...

No and No I'm afraid.
IPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback for feature requests.

Either that or tag them with a keyword, flag them or rate them and use that as the basis of a smart album.

RoboHelp - WebHelp - Generating Printed Index

I've searched through the basic RoboHelp help and can't find
how to generate an index that would include "chatper" numbers.
I am guessing that I am missing something in the Single
Sourcing layout for Printed Documentation that creates "chatpers."
Any advice?

Welcome to the forum.
Chapters in a printed document are the books of the TOC, by
default. However, you can rename the books in the print layout and
give them numbers. Nothing automated there. There's more on that in
the topic on Printed Documentation on my site.
The index in the printed document only gives page numbers
though.
If that is not what you meant, please post back.

C7280 cannot print index cards???????????

Trying to print onto 3 x 5 index cards and they are not getting picked up!
I am setting to 3 x 5 index cards and loading them into the photo tray as instructions show but it tries to pick from main paper tray only. Set from paper tray to automatic and still doesn't activate photo tray. If i set up for photo with 4 x 6 then photo tray activates and prints off center!
What is wrong?

How to print a series of index photos billfold sized photos

I would like to know how to print index sized photos as well as a series of wallet size photos (all of different subjects) on teh photosmart 7520 all in one....there has to be a way to do it.

What is the secrect to print 4x6 Index Cards in an HP C309a

I have a Microsoft Word Template for printing recipes on 4x6 Index Cards.    However, there is no known combination of settings on my HP C309a that will let me print Index Cards.    The built-in Printing Shortcuts contains an entry called Postcard Printing, but it call for using the Photo-Tray.     When I put my cards in the photo tray, it prints from the main tray. If I remove the main tray it tells me add paper.
This is a very simple task. Why does HP make it nearly impossible to do something as trivial as printing on an Index Card? I'm wasting sheet after sheet of paper trying to figure this out.   I need detailed, step by step instructions on how to proceed.

Yes, I did try that and it made no difference.     I must admit, the timing of your reply is perfect.    Just yesterday I accidentally stumbled on the answer to this problem.   And it clearly demonstrates how poorly designed the printing feature is in Microsoft Word.
To print a 4x6" Index Card in Microsoft Word 2010, you must do the following on the Word Page Layout Toolbar:
1. Click on the Orientation Icon and select "Landscape".
2. Click on the Size Icon and select "Index Card 4x6 inch".
3. Click on Margins Icon and select "Narrow".
Place the Index Card stock in the Photo Tray and click on the Printer Properties for the HP C309a.   Then set the following preferences:
Printing shortcuts: General Everyday Printing
Paper source: Photo Tray
Paper sizes: Index Card 4x6 inch
Paper type: Automatic
After setting the Printer Properties, you must set the layout and scaling.
1. Click on the last drop-down setting in the Print Print Page.
2. Next click on Scale to Paper Size and select Borderless 4x6in from the list.
Lastly press the Print button.

Officejet 4500 g510g-m won't print

Officejet 4500 G510g-m; Windows 7 Pro 64bit; USB Connection; Unit worked great on my old computers running XP Pro 32bit; Bought new desktop and laptop-now same problem on both computers; I hope Shlomil is available. I am having the same problem outlined by zax5 on 2-14-14. I've downloaded and installed the full version software from hp, connecting the printer when instructed, but when I attempt to print, the printer indexes the blank sheet to the middle of the page (not the top??) and stops. The que initially shows the print job but after the paper indexes, the que says the jobs complete, but nothing printed and the page never indexes out of the printer. I am able to see ink levels. Fax works, don't know about scan yet. There is a patch referenced in the other post:

but when I click on it I get an Error 404, Page not Found. I emptied the temp file, but it didn't help. Any ideas?

OK since my first message I've tried running the print & scan doctor, and hp printer diagnostic tool, following all instructions, cycling power on the printer, uninstalling, deleting temp file entries, doing selective startup, reinstalling, updating, everything I can think of, still to no avail. Upon completion of install, message says install completed successfully but when I try to print anything, the printer indexes the paper to the middle of the page (not the top??) and stops. Que says job pending until paper index, then indicates job complete, but nothing ever prints and the display on the unit continues to say "Printing". Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm at my end and thinking maybe its just time to buy a non-HP product to avoid the issue.

Some Lexmark printers support the AirPrint feature, you may check if your model is supported:

If your printer support network connection and not listed as AirPrint capable you may check the LexPrint app:

For scanning I would rather check at Lexmarc communities if such a solution is available, the only feature I could find is the Lexmark app for Google Docs which allow scanning to the cloud:
